Reviews for Hotel Osteria Dell'Orcia
Review 1:Breakfast choice extremely poor- the worst we have ever experienced in a 4 star hotel. No rolls or croissants at any time (except sweet jam-filled) just very strange home-made so-called bread in slices. There was more choice once there were a few more people staying later in the week but just because there are only a few people staying (November) should not mean we have poorer breakfasts. Also the waiting staff only arrived after the first 2 days. There was little hanging/storage space in the room. Dresses all draped on the floor of the wardrobe. Evening meals not good and extremely limited choice so staying for 6 days a problem.
Review 2:position and character of hotel. Evening pre-meal prosecco good and excellent array of "nibbles". Friendly, helpful host.
Review 3:Nothing to say here
Review 4:Quite simply - Perfect! From the minute of our arrival our host, Silvano, was available to help and advise. He was always around to give suggestions, to brighten up the conversation or to light a fire for us to enjoy. He told us he has a passion for running this small hotel and this is reflected in everything from wonderful staff, charming decor, immaculate gardens, excellent meals and relaxed atmosphere. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.
Review 5:Beautiful surroundings, rolling Tuscan hills all around!! Centrally located to explore the wine country! Great food & very pleasant staff & a donkey! A short hike up to Bagno Vignoni for some great restaurants & hot springs
Review 6:Set in quiet surroundings, close to Bagno Vignoni, which is reachable via a pedestrian bridge after approx. 5 minutes walk. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room is of generous size with modern bathroom facilities en suite. Breakfast is generous with a wide choice.
Review 7:Totally recommend this place we stopped at to visit the thermal baths in Bagno Vignoni. The staff was very friendly and made our stay special. We particularly appreciated the staff manning the kitchen for a late dinner served in the garden patio :) 5 stars!
Review 8:Fantastic location, great for hiking and touring the province of Siena and its many towns. Comfortable, charming hotel with a touch of luxury. Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 9:Brilliant service, nothing too much for the staff and management who went beyond the call of duty for us. Absolute charm - people and the place - and truly wonderful food. Hotel restaurant highly recommended.
Review 10:Beautiful location such a peaceful setting. The staff were all so friendly & the hosts were so kind & knowledgable when we required information. We ate here a couple of times in the evening and the food was excellent. Loved Zorro & Hugo who just added to the whole experience of our stay in Tuscany
Review 11:Wi fi was advertised as being available but the reality was very different and very frustrating The location was too remote from the nearest town for dinner if you didn't want to stay at the property
Review 12:Room and hotels decor was lovely
Review 13:Return visit here and just as good as before. Excellent location as a hub for many nearby towns and villages. Excellent host in Silvano who caters for your needs with a good humour and knowledge.
Review 14:That we only stayed 2 nights!
Review 15:The place has magic! Getting there was challenging but the location turned out to be perfect for visiting the tuscan villages we has in mind. Food was delicious, we dined under the stars and full moon!
Review 16:Great location. Very friendly and helpful staff. The owner is very knowledgeable of great wines, wineries and restaurants in the region and Tuscany. He provided us really good recommendations and itineraries.
Review 17:Nothing to dis like. Beds could have been a bit more comfortable.
Review 18:Facilities were excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff and the hosts were very welcoming. The food is all local and homemade and could not be faulted. Comprehensive wine cellar also.
Review 19:The place was like a home, people were helpful but not exactly friendly. It's not very friendly towards babies, and a staff even old me off because my one year old was touching everything.
Review 20:I liked the scenery
Review 21:Wifi not good in hotel Rooms
Review 22:The hotel is a lovely conversion on an old post house set in a lovely rural location close to the hot springs of Bagnio Vignoli . The staff were extremely helpful and courteous and our room was beautifully appointed. We ate at the restaurant which was one of our best meals while in Tuscany. Cannot Recommend highly Enough
Review 23:Nothing-everything exceeded our expectations.
Review 24:The host and staff made us feel like family in their beautiful country villa and were very accommodating with their time
Review 25:Once again Booking.com's directions were very poor and confusing (asthey were for a previous hotel we stayed at in northern Spain). Also asthe hotel is in a unesco heritage area no signposts with the name of thehotel are allowed on the road so it was hard to find exactly where itwas down a small side road!
Review 26:Beautifully furnished and maintained hotel in centre of a wonderful areaof Tuscany with rolling fields and countryside. There were dozens ofwalking trails (although not all signposting of trails was very clear!),lovely hotel gardens and pool.
Review 27:They went out of the way to make me comfortable. I arrived on a cold & rainy day. They had a fire built and the chef had made a rich and sumptuous porcini mushroom soup in honor of the weather. They showcase local food and products. The olive oil soup was luxurious. The breakfast was a buffet with, among other items: homemade pastries, local salamis, local sheep ricotta, fresh-squeezed blood orange juice and so much more! The staff were personable and helpful. I felt really pampered.
Review 28:Nothing.
Review 29:Our stay was 7 nights and was our home base to visit the hill towns of Tuscany. It was far enough away from Rome & Florence that tour groups in the area were minimal. Enjoyed coming back late in the afternoon and having dinner. The food was excelent.
Review 30:Nothing
Review 31:Everything about this place was superb. A peaceful rural location, lovely setting, comfortable beds, all conveniences, very friendly and helpful staff and managers, first rate restaurant and conveniently located for touring all the attractions in Tuscany.
Review 32:Our hosts Sylvestrie and Ferdinand were perfect hosts and their lovely Inn in the heart of the Valle dell Orcia region of Tuscany is ideal. Delicious meals and quiet, beautiful ambiance was just what we were looking for. We will be back
Review 33:Loved it all -- the room, the people, the grounds and the food!
Review 34:A lovely villa with beautiful grounds full of unexpected nooks to sit and view the gardens, pool, villa, outdoor dining patio and surrounding countryside.
Review 35:Of course not value for money. In my opinion is too expensive. Also, it was very difficult to find it.
Review 36:Fantastic breakfast - Very friendly staff - Great location - Excellent outside area
Review 37:The hotel was the most expensive we stayed at during our tour and we have previously stayed in ones equally as good but less costly, so a little overpriced. Having said that, I would possibly stay again due to the 'positives'.
Review 38:The hotel is in a lovely setting with just a short walk across a foot bridge crossing the river to nearby Bagno Vignoni. Silvano was an excellent host with a good sense of humour and able to advise on almost anything. Excellent facilities including room, dining area/outside areas and pool. Difficult to fault anything.
Review 39:All great. It is good to know that although the hotel is listen in Castiglione d'Orcia, it is much closer to Bagno Vignoni. (This is not a negative at all, just a clarification.)
Review 40:Great swimming pool. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast.
Review 41:WiFi doesn't work in all rooms; shower cabins are tiny (nothing to put showergel on); breakfast starts very late (8.30); the bread served at breakfast is an acquired taste (but delicious crunchy bread can be bought in nearby villages).
Review 42:Wonderful location, very quiet; great breakfast buffet (superb muesli and fruit); very friendly and helpful staff; nice walking path to Bagno Vignoni.
Review 43:Nothing!
Review 44:Everything! The location, the staff (The staff is really helpful!), the food! Everything was perfect! The Donkey Zorro;) Really a nice place for relaxation and a good location for exploring Montalcino.
Review 45:It was a small hotel with very friendly staff and a beautiful landscape. We felt very welcome there and it had a very good standard for a 4 star hotel.
Review 46:Perfect familiar atmosphere, absolute care about us, perfect Toscan food and good choice of local vine.We were really satisfied, it was an perfect holiday.
Review 47:Could be a little noisy at night
Review 48:Great hotel with warm welcome, excellent restaurant catering for all tastes, small and personal service but unobtrusive. Fabulous pool quiet location.

Review 69:O ambiente, a decoracao,o servico,e principalmente o acolhimento.o staff e amabilissimo e procura lhe agradar em tudo.
Review 70:Everything was perfect: location, rooms, restaurant, staff.
Review 71:a bit old and fake interior, the shower box old and sweeps water, can not be 4 stars....
Review 72:position, food
Review 73:More pillows! And noise insulation, I could hear my neighbor
Review 74:The staff
Review 75:Wonderful! Everything!
Review 76:Not so easy to find the first time but worth the effort!
Review 77:Beautiful location in older building with modern facilities, caring staff where their moto is "there is no problem". We enjoyed the pool on the warm Tuscan days
Review 78:TV could not show World Cup 2014 games, due to apparent lack of signal or out-of-subscription... Luckily the wifi worked well, so watched the game on internet.
Review 79:location
Review 80:Hotel location was a bit difficult to find, but staff provided directions once we were close by.
Review 81:The food was excellent (breakfast buffet and dinners);the wine was superb. Dining al fresco was a delight. The hotel grounds were beautiful. Staff was very helpful and pleasant Location could not have been better--near cities, but with rural walking trails Surrounding scenery was truly exceptional.
Review 82:- very friendly and helpful staff - excellent food at the restaurant - beautiful location, lots of lovely little towns and villages nearby that are worth a visit (Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza, ...) - a quiet place to relax - ...and we loved the donkey! :-)
Review 83:The internet did not work well . For our taste the room could do with some refurbishing.
Review 84:The location in the middle of a nice garden with pool is nice. The Osteria is very well situated to explore a wide variety of nearby cites/villages. The staff were nice and we had very good food at the Osteria. The room was ok, but rather nondescript.
Review 85:The staff were extremely warm and friendly and had good information on the local area, driving times and places of interest to visit. The hotel is in a typical Tuscan setting, very serene and peaceful and the perfect escape from the crowds of Siena and Florence. A short walk to Bagni Vignoni and there are a couple of nice places to eat there, a good location for driving to areas and towns of interest in south-east Tuscany.
Review 86:Wonderful hotel, fabulous location. Great for trips around Toscana. Breakfasts and dinners are beyond praise. Especially recommended for romantic travel.
Review 87:Perfect location to visit montalcino, montepulciano, pienza etc., just a couple of min walk from Bagno Vignoni. A picturesque river in 100 meters one can walk along. Convenient flat roads in the nearabouts to ride a bicycle (you may be rented for free). Very nice rooms with good bed and bathroom. Perfect breakfast. A restaurant in the hotel is rather good. Both managers of the hotel are very very nice guys. Strongly recommended. And there is a donkey!
Review 88:Very hospitable and peaсeful plaсe. Very tasty restorant and good wines selection. And a heart of all this - Mr. Silvano. We really enjoyed the week there!
Review 89:The owner was fluent in English and extremely helpful. He was very knowledgable regarding the wines of the region. The restaurant in the hotel was quite good and we actually are at the hotel both nights of our stay which we do not usually do. I
Review 90:Not a thing.
Review 91:Location, atmosphere, friendliness and attentiveness of the staff, the fact that you immediately felt at home and some of the best food I have EVER eaten. The tasting menu of local food was a sheer delight accompanied by perfect local wines. Highly recommended only wish I could have stayed longer.
Review 92:There were often hunting dogs barking and howling at one of the properties nearby.
Review 93:The room was clean and bright. Breakfast was very good by Italian standards. In general, the location was very quiet with wonderful views of Todi and the countryside, although this rather depends on which side of the house your room is situated.
Review 94:Shower was pokey and a pity the air conditioning did not work properly.
Review 95:Beautifully restored building, lovely garden and pool area. Excellent food and service and very attractive decor.
Review 96:No internet in our room. Had to go out into the hallway to get it. Thin walls. For one of our two night stay, there was an infant next door. We heard the parents playing with the infant late in the evening and the infant was very cranky early the next morning.
Review 97:Friendly, attentive service. I felt comfortable and at home. Had a wonderful dinner and the breakfast provided each morning was the best I had anywhere in Italy. The entire facility is very attractive.
Review 98:We regret staying for only 8 nights.
Review 99:Ideal location, close to all major Tuscan gems - Siena, Assisi, Orvieto, Civita di Bagnoregio, Montalcino and Montepulciano. Infinitypool never overpopulated. Excellent breakfasts with fresh fruit juices! Bistecca fiorentina exceptional! Extremely friendly staff. The manager of Osteria dell'Orcia, Sylvano, should be voted Tuscan manager of the 2013 year.
Review 100:Serenity, breath taking views, smell of the flowers and beautiful nature accompanied by great organic food, wine and best of all friendly staff at the hotel. We loved every second of our stay and words cannot explain the beauty of this place. Sylvano and Fernando made us feel like we are home. The food was amazing! I cannot wait to go back!
Review 101:Everything was perfect, nothing to complain
Review 102:The swingpool, the room in general, clean and organized, very friendly staff. Excellent kitchen and cooking, very interesting dinner selection, the menue was something special, the chef superb.
Review 103:Extremly plaisant and peacefull stay everything was beautifull and the situation next to the natural spa is nice. Breakfast in the garden in front of the breathtaking landscape.
Review 104:Nothing! Only issue was we missed the turnoff but enjoyed a delightful excursion up to the castle in search of it.
Review 105:Sensational food, wine, location and ambience. An incredibly relaxing and peaceful place. Next time we would stay for a few nights and just pause and enjoy.
Review 106:The Hotel is really outstanding. Warm, friendly, helpful staff (Grazie Silvano!). We really felt at home. The food -- one of the best breakfasts in any hotel we've stayed in. Fresh baked breads and pastries, homemade yogurt and jam, the best ingredients and quality. It's a must to dine there at night - also the best ingredients, often from local farmers; original, creative and really delicious. Excellent wine selection. The location is also special, set in midst of the rolling hills; calm, beautiful, & quiet. We had a fantastic time. Highly recommended!
Review 107:We have no criticisms
Review 108:Excellent staff. Spoke good English. Beautiful and extensive gardens. Lovely views. Good position for exploring southern half of Tuscany and down into Umbria. Had all our evening meals at the hotel for a week - good menu, fine food
Review 109:Was unable to say longer
Review 110:This is an excellent hotel. The manager and staff were particularly gracious and courteous. The facilities were very clean and serviceable. Wonderful breakfasts and wonderful location in the D'Orcia valley. Would love to go there again.
Review 111:They know how it should be done. Great service... You want a glass ofwine in the afternoon? You will get a top wine with some local cheese ofcourse. Your baby needs a bottle of milk? No problem, heated and (thisnever happens) at no extra charge. Are you looking for a special winery? No problem, date at on of the best and offbeat wineries arranged.Excellent breakfast - all Italian as breakfast in Tuscany should be. Analtogether perfect experience.
Review 112:Everything. If you want the hustle of a city then there are small townsnearby that will meet most of your expectations. There is so much to doaround the area though that you will be pleasantly enjoyed with yourstay. The best part is the staff at the hotel. I have made three visitsto Italy and by far they are the best staff of any hotel I have visited. They make you feel at home and are there to assist with anything youneed, nothing is a trouble to them. I would very much recommend thishotel to anyone who wants to make a trip to Italy.
