Reviews for Hotel Jafferau

Review 1:Slow wi-fi only in narrow spots. Limited English capacity of staff. Breakfast limited for a Northern Europan taste. Beds hard.

Review 2:Excellent location at 1900 mtrs altitude in the ski slope - yet, this time slopes were not open so the hotel shuttle took us a 20 minute trip to the open ski slopes. Staff friendly. Spa area large and included in price - turkish bath, sauna, pool and whirlpool. Dinner good. Rooms spacious and bathroom great. Hand knotted Persian carpets all over ground floors - never seen anything comparable before!

Review 3:Surreal… The worst experience so far.If you are looking for ZERO customer service and tons of annoying things, this is the hotel that you got to book.On booking.com most clients don’t have the time to leave a full feedback about their stay, positive or negative, and this is our case, however i am doing an effort to make sure that other people don’t have the bad experience that we just had on this hotel, as our experience was way to uncomfortable. To be honest i don’t understand how can booking.com can have listed this kind of property, as i am sure we are not the only ones complaining about it. We are a young couple with a 36 months old baby, and in this occasion we booked the Jafferau Hotel for a short holiday in Bardonecchia, Italy. The reservation was made more than a month before, at the time we requested a baby cot. On our arrival, the receptionist didn’t even greet us, didn’t even say hello…i said i had a reservation on my name, she checked and gave me the room key asking for €5,00 deposit on it, which is fine when you go to a hostel, not on a “4 stars hotel” which i find ridiculous, however i didn’t mind much at this stage. After all we reached the room and the baby cot that i requested weeks before wasn’t there, so i needed to go back and asked for it (as they weren’t answering the phone). Once we set our things in the room, we went to the self service “restaurant” to have a quick lunch, and unfortunately the food was just terrible, something that actually is hard to find in Italy…but we actually did. Before the holidays we knew that there wasn’t going to be snow, but we didn’t mind and we went anyway, reason why the hotel was actually almost empty, but this “emptiness” turned quite “sad” as the hotel was looking very unwelcoming, everything was closed, all lights were off, we are walking g on many corridors were they were actually switched off (i believe was to save some money), and some services weren't working as they supposed to.

Review 4:WIFI is free, but the signal is extremely poor in the room. Shower water temperature is never stable, sometimes went cold, sometimes went hot, not comfortable.

Review 5:The staff at reception and kitchen are all very friendly and helped us a lot. The shuttle bus driver is kind. Mountain view outside our room is beautiful.

Review 6:Pool closed very early (indoor!) in summer High in the mountain, with a long and difficult road (20 minutes at least from the motorway)

Review 7:Super view Great rooms for summer

Review 8:How quick and easy it was to get from check-in to skiing. It's ideal for a short ski break. It's not the most extensive ski network, but there aren't any queues and they clearly take pride in the area.

Review 9:Room was very basic, beds terribly uncomfortable, location was great for snowboarding but other than that the hotel offered almost nothing for food and entertainment and town was far very far away.

Review 10:Food, very poor espeically for the money that you have to pay as there is no where else to eat. Some staff members (lots of eyerolling from one certain receptionist because she could not understand what I was asking) not very helpful, no bathrobes or slippers unless you pay for them even though when booking it said they were complementry. Pool rules very strict, overly to a point where the children felt that they were not even allowed to splash. Nothing really laid on for guests on New years eve unless you were eating at the resturant which costs €60 per head even for children.

Review 11:Hotel is in a great location for skiing and the access to the cable cars outside the hotel is brilliant. The shuttle down to the town is good and the driver very helpful. The manager of the resturant wa helpful too. The rooms are nice.

Review 12:During reservation on booking.com, although i requested for 1 king bed and a room from highest floor, they gave us a room with 2 twins bed and also from first floor. During check-in in reception when i asked if the room has city view, receptionist answered yes but it wasn't. Breakfast was very poor.

Review 13:Staffs in restaurant was very kind and helpful.

Review 14:Lift to hotel not working. This was offset by offering lifts with a very genial driver but it did affect us as we had resolved not to hire a car.

Review 15:The rooms were spotless, spacious and with spectacular views. The staff were friendly and very efficient. The food was great a superb 4 course dinner with variety and quality. There are very few places to which I would return but this is one of them.

Review 16:No kids menu

Review 17:This hotel service is particularly poor!!!

Review 18:The staff was very nice but, we went to this hotel because they informed by telephone that the hotel was a 5 min from Sestriere and it is far to be a fact. The phone doesn't work at the hotel, unless your carrier is Tim, the internet is really bad, which leaves you without communication. The food is terrible and overpriced, and you don't have an option to go in another restaurant, because there is nothing around and the hotel is in the top of the mountain and you have to take a really dangerous road. when I read the other rewiews saying about the road I thought it would be okay , however it was a mistake, because the road is in bad condition and once you are up, you do not want to do again. The ski slope is too bad, if you are a beginner or advanced, the chair lifts are old and even can be dangerous if you are a beginner. really can not recommend the Hotel.

Review 19:The room is clean, modern and big. They have a beautiful view from the rooms.

Review 20:I think it's not fair from a 4-star hotel to ask money for parking in the LOW season, 15 euro per day. It's too high. Also you have to pay for using the spa 3 euro per day. I don't really understood it. Breakfast: one type of ham, cheese and 3 types of croissant. That's all. Very very very poor.... The restaurant was perfect anyway.

Review 21:The staff was excellent, very kind and helpful event that not all of them speak fluent English but they really try their best. You can buy your ski pass in the hotel cheaper, but it's not worth to hire ski kit from there it's very expensive and down in the city you can hire them almost half price. The view was beautiful and the room was very very comfortable.

Review 22:Unfortunately, our experience with food in the hotel was not positive. For lunch food was overcooked, for dinner it was cold. The opening time after lunch for facilities is a bit late (it was connected to our babysitter) after 15, so we could not use after lunch time for snowboarding, and closing time for facilities is a bit early, 1930, this was time when one of us at least could go to enjoy a bit of relax.

Review 23:We had our son with us who is just 1.5 year. And it was brilliant to find a babysitter right in the hotel with affordable price. The location is perfect for snowboarding - right on the slop. Hotel also provides a free bus to the city during day times. All personnel speak English. But generally I would love to go back to this hotel again

Review 24:Very difficult to arrive to the Hotel. The road is long and dangerous. If there is snow would avoid taking this Hotel unless you have a 4x4 or a proper car for winter. We arrive late because of the difficulties to get there and the service was not kind and understanding, on the other side they were tired and unwelcoming. The same thing in the morning. Big chaos with the check out and somebody even charge a drink on our room. No control what so ever.

Review 25:You can go skiing directly from the Hotel. The mountain and the view are very nice from the room.

Review 26:The staff are very friendly but under stress from long hours etc; management of the hotel needs much improvement

Review 27:Location, the food, and the facilities

Review 28:Isolated. No nightlife at all. They charge you 10 € if you want to go into town after 7.30.

Review 29:Spa, located on the slopes, large rooms, good food at the restaurant, relaxing. Very good if you only want to skii and relax

Review 30:Not very open to amending to the hotel rules (we were not allowed to be more then 6 at the same table even if we were a party of 8).

Review 31:Good location right on the slopes (even if isolated). A lot of common spaces, spa, nice swimming pool. Very good activities for kids. Nice, ample rooms. The ones with the view on the valley were really beautiful.

Review 32:Rooms and overall environment was not very clean. Breakfast is really poor. Staff do not know the area and could not advice/inform on walking ways in the surrounding (walking is the main activity you can do in mountain in summer)

Review 33:The place is amazing, perfect place to relax.

Review 34:Restaurant is overpriced. Set menu choices limited and food overcooked (too long under warming lamps). One does not expect packet mashed potato in a 4 star hotel. Not easy to find, and access in a large vehicle difficult because of the Alpine nature of the access road. Pricing structure seems to be "make it up as you go along" - I had to tell the receptionist the price of the room I had booked when paying my bill !! Not really business stay oriented.

Review 35:Friendly receptionist and restaurant staff, head waiter / restaurant floor manager was excellent in his professionalism and wit. Views of the surrounding area and valley amazing.

Review 36:Great service, staff very friendly, very good value for money. The SPA (swimming pool, sauna , massage) is just what you need for a relaxing weekend or even a full week. We've been there both during winter and during summer, the place is very welcomming, located on the ski slopes, great for walks, mountain bike and wintersports.

Review 37:personel didnt understood any english.. breakfast was very poor... rooms dosnt look so pretty as in websites.. skiing fasilities are not available...at least the end of season...

Review 38:Location was good, but hard to find and get there...

Review 39:The staff spoke really poor english. As the hotel was in the moutains, they offered free shuttle bus which required booking in advance. One day, we booked the bus and had to wait for the bus for more than one hour outside in the freezing cold weather! (There were no other ways to get to the hotel apart from their shuttle bus.) We called the hotel and the staff just hung up on us when we complained about the wait.

Review 40:Good location for ski in and out, right next to a ski lift.

Review 41:Unless you have car hire then you need to be well organised in advance to book the minibus if you wish to go into town after the cable car closes(around 4.45pm) . The mini bus driver is very helpful and friendly although I do believe that the 8 seater mini bus is not adequate for a hotel of this size. If using this service plan well ahead and get your slot booked otherwise you may be disappointed. The cafe stops serving hot meals at 3pm and the restaurant opens at 7.30pm. If you have kitchenette facilities plan in advance as there us nowhere to buy provisions at the hotel.

Review 42:Location. For skiers wanting to be able to hire skis, take lessons and ski from the door then this hotel makes a great choice. We were there in half term and the snow conditions were fabulous and not at all busy. No queuing for lifts ! The hotel is clean, modern , attractive enough but slightly lacking in atmosphere. Having stayed in hotels with roaring fires and lots of alpine charm this hotel doesn't quite deliver . The staff are friendly and helpful and do aim to please especially when trying to sort out the courtesy mini bus times down the mountain to bardonnechia .

Review 43:No Internet in room. Unless you ask for cooked breakfast you do not knowit exists. Alot of the staff do not speak Italian French or English sodifficult to communicate with them. I wrote several e mails to the hotelabout ski hire which they did not respond to was very annoyed to findski hire next to the hotel when we had rented in Campo Smith and it wascheaper. Difficult to get into town at night and dinner at 30euros ahead too expensive plus drinks.

Review 44:Ski to your hotel door, excellent ski instructors and ski storage. Roomsvery comfortable and clean.

Review 45:The shower veered from scalding hot to cold. The receptionist said thatthe whole hotel had the problem. Lack of an apre-ski bar/snack bar.

Review 46:Staff were friendly and helpful. Their English was better than myItalian. Ski hire shop adjacent to hotel with good quality skis. Whenadvised that the tv did not have an English speaking channel a member ofstaff changed a lead and rectified the problem immediately.

Review 47:-Hotel is definitely not a 4 star. -Out of 6 nights we were withoutwater for 3 whole evenings. -The interior of the shuttle bus is verydirty. -A chunk of our holiday was spent waiting to be taken up or downfrom the mountain - only one van - an eight seater - is used for all theresidents of the hotel. -When we tried to voice our complaints to theowner he was arrogant and indifferent. -Restaurant staff were allforeign and do not speak English or Italian. It was extremely difficultto communicate. The Hotel Director does not speak English either. -Roombrochure showed breakfast opening time at 7.30 but kitchen never opensbefore 8. On our last day we had to leave for a 6 hour journey withoutany food.Even though breakfast was paid for. -The restaurant food isinedible.Things on the buffet table are not replenished even if theyfinish early. -No salt and pepper on tables. Not available either whenasked for. -Cups for water and juice in the restaurant are plastic. -Airconditioning set very hot. Cannot be adjusted from room. So it waseither very hot or switched off and a freezing room. -Hot water in theshower not constant. Frequent bursts of cold water. -The day bar is asmall space at reception. Manned by reception staff so long waitsexperienced. -Telephone never answered.

Review 48:-Reception Staff and Shuttle Bus Driver extremely nice and courteous.-Rooms are clean and spacious.

Review 49:1) Information on website was incorrect: guests could not take the gondola to the hotel for free on arrival. Ski passes are not available at the hotel. They will go and get them from the village for you but only if you have cash enough. They can't actually print out ski passes for you at the reception.2) Only one receptionist (who was there in the mornings) speaks English. Most of the staff speaks no English and were not able to help us. 3) The shuttle bus system to the village doesn't work. We were promised twice to get on a particular bus but then when we were supposed to go they said it was full. When the gondola was out of function we were stuck in the village because they always picked up Italian speaking people. The shuttle bus capacity is not enough for a hotel of this location and level.

Review 50:1) If you ski in Jafferau the location is very convenient.2) The salad and antipasto buffet at dinners was superb.

Review 51:The food was dreadful, the bathroom smelled terrible, the service waspoor and the heat was stifling.

Review 52:The location for skiing was food and ski rental was simple

Review 53:Dinner at the hotel is fabulous, staff are very welcoming, the swimmingpool is lovely, the rooms were perfect for families ( basically 2 roomswith a shared hallway and bathroom meant we didn't have to go to sleepat the same time as the kids), the location is right by the lifts, andnext door to the ski hire shop and ski school. Perfect and there is amini club if the kids are too tired to ski.

Review 54:The food was good and the view from the room is amazing!
