Reviews for Hotel Sorella Luna
Review 1:Room was small. Satellite TV did not have any English channels (they said it was not working). Walls seemed pretty thin as I could hear the neighbor's text ding!
Review 2:Nicely updated. Room was clean and staff was helpful with recommendations for the area. Morning "buffet" included pasties, juice, meat, cheese, and they made coffee to order.
Review 3:We loved everything about the Hotel Sorella Luna and would happily return there the next time we are in Italy. We booked three rooms and all were modern, yet charming and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed little evening snacks and The staff made wonderful dinner reservations for us on Christmas Eve. Breakfast was delicious!
Review 4:No tea/coffee making facilities in room. Couldn't work the in-room safe.
Review 5:Compact room but suited my needs. Decor simple & elegant and matched photos on website. Hotel has quirky levels and didn't seem to have a lift, but was manageable with cases. Excellent, free wi-fi. Staff very friendly & helpful. Excellent breakfast room and the selection was terrific. Hotel has an excellent location, only metres from S. Francesca basilica.
Review 6:Beautiful, modern minimalist renovation on an ancient stone building. Great breakfast. Very close to the Basilica di San Francesco d'Assisi. Call the hotel to know which parking lot to use. It's only a short walk from the hotel.
Review 7:Staff speaks little English or not hepful?
Review 8:Assisi is so unique and heavenly beautiful that everything can be overlooked. Staff is neither social nor informative. Breakfast is sumptuous.
Review 9:Buffet breakfast mediocre. Very difficult to locate by car. Uphill, 20 min.walk into town.
Review 10:New facility, with spaciou room and bath, bright, comfortable. Perfect location if you are spending a lot of time at the Basilica.
Review 11:The staff was professional, friendly and even carried our luggage to our room. The breakfast was very nice and the server prepared my espresso really well. It is very close to the Francisco basilica. I highly recommend this hotel. Molto bene!
Review 12:The only issue we had with the hotel was not being able to find it. We asked several people who recognized the name and just kept pointing up the hill. When we were on the correct street we still could not locate it . . . . we finally called, shared our location, and once again could not see the sign which we finally saw ABOVE a little food shop with a much larger sign. Additionally the parking is two streets below in a modern parking garage. Had we understood where we were going we could have driven up the narrow street, double-parked long enough to unload luggage, and turn around in the church area. And as it turned out, you cannot drive into that area on Sundays anyway. So we had to carry our suitcases up three levels of the parking garage since the elevator was not working as well as up three levels of streets on the side of the hill. When we checked out, the clerk said we were all paid so we left.
Review 13:The hotel was very nice with a great bed, beautiful sheets, shower and bathroom, and a wonderful breakfast including eggs and fruit as well as a variety of breads and pastries. The location was almost next to the St. Francis Bascillica on the same street as what appeared to be like a parking area for the church. . . .even though taxis and vans were the only vehicles driving in and out. We were able to walk all over the city from the hotel. We got call three phone calls on the road which we were hesitant to answer. One indicated it was from London and the others said they were from the US. . . we discovered when we finally answered the phone they were from booking.com and from the hotel, indicating that we still owed. So we had to give our credit card number over the phone, which was a little concerning, but the lady was extremely nice and emailed our receipt. She apologized for the mistake. We are not sure if we will have to pay for the phone call yet.
Review 14:Everything; this is a smart, modern hotel in a fabulous position. The staff were unfailingly pleasant and helpful and the room was lovely; I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Assisi.
Review 15:Location, staff, food, accommodations. Camillo took us to the trainstation after his shift was over. That was very nice of him. Everybodywas very, very friendly.
Review 16:We especially liked this hotel - it had everything we needed and more. The rooms were new, clean and comfortable. The atmosphere was great - there were modern art paintings and the hotel was beautifully decorated. It was also on one of the main streets of Assisi and 1min away from the Cathedral.
Review 17:Don t bring a car or too much luggage; parking is 5 min walking distance up a hill
Review 18:Everything: location, staff very friendly and helpful, ashtonishing view; right in the Center of town
Review 19:The only- small - thing I didn't like was the plastic cups in theroom, and no coffee machine in the room for making hot water. But thestaff would no doubt bring hot water or glasses upon request.
Review 20:A lovely little hotel right in the heart of Assisi, only a half a blockaway from the Basilica of Saint Francis. My room was lovely- small, butclean and bright with a very peaceful feeling. The ac was great, as wasthe wifi. I ended up extending my stay a few extra days as it was sonice staying there. The staff are very warm and friendly.
Review 21:A fabulous location beside San Francesco. Easy access to everything and very comfortable. The only issue is the bed in the single rooms which can be uncomfortable. Despite that the hotel is highly recommended
Review 22:The room was tiny as expected but things could have been organized in a much smarter way. A useless table and chair blocks a section of the room, the wardrobe doesn't offer much space to put clothes and there simply wasn't any logical place to store the luggage. The bathroom is also cramped and not airconditioned, making it uncomfortably hot especially after showering. Overall we found the hotel acceptable but not great.
Review 23:Friendly and attentive staff, excellent location, good breakfast with plenty of choice.
Review 24:Room is rather small. AC is loud but powerless. A strong light on the safe box can't be be turned off - a very stupid design. We have to cover it with all sort of things that we can find
Review 25:Heatwave attacked during our stay in July 2015. It would be nice if the air-con in the hotel room could be a bit stronger...
Review 26:1) Location! Literally beside Balisica di S. Francesco. Super convenient. It is only 1 km away from Basilica di Santa Chiara. 2) Nice lovely breakfast! We enjoyed our breakfast in the balcony every morning when it was not that hot. 3) the very helpful and friendly staff, Luigia!
Review 27:A little tricky finding the front door. Directions were a little confusing.
Review 28:The place is spotless and new-looking. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good. 500 feet from St. Francis basilica.
Review 29:Nothing! This was absolutely a brilliant place to stay.
Review 30:The location, cleanliness and comfort were of the highest standard. The staff were more than helpful and friendly. Great breakfast too!
Review 31:Modern decor and furnishings; well-appointed and spacious bathroom; clean room with comfortable bed; picturesque location close to the Basilica of St. Francis
Review 32:A hidden gem, in a great location tucked away by the Basilica. It was nicely decorated with spacious clean rooms. They offered a lovely morning breakfast and had friendly staff.
Review 33:The hotel is not immediately visible but it is centrally located and very clean. The premises are very up to date and the staff very helpful. The breakfast is very scrumptious.
Review 34:The air conditioning could have been a little stronger
Review 35:The hotel had a perfect location, was very clean, pretty quiet, the staff was accommodating and the physical facility was very lovely
Review 36:You have to schlep your luggage quite a ways and up a hill. Was a bit difficult to find.
Review 37:Friendly and helpful staff; beautiful location, clean and modern room, excellent WiFi, outstanding breakfast.
Review 38:Although it is very near from cathedral, a bit far from restaurants for dinner.
Review 39:Almost all. Especially, nevertheless we could not have an breakfast because we had to get a train in early morning, they let us have a bag including some bread, egg and apple before leaving. We were so happy that we could eat them in the train to Rome.
Review 40:Some of the room can be noisy because of the noise of the street in front of the hotel. Sleep with the window closed...
Review 41:Interior, location, breakfast. Nice place!
Review 42:The hotel, its charm, the great welcoming feeling, the staff - could not be more helpful - the room was beautifully presented, very spacious and spotless.
Review 43:No complaints.
Review 44:This hotel is a bit hard to find. It is a gallery hotel, which I didn't know until I got there means that there is just a door on the street with a sign. We drove by it twice. Parking is down the hill a bit, in a public parking lot, but we never had any problems finding parking. The hotel is closer to the Basilica, which is the main attraction in Assisi, but everything else is uphill. This hotel was very helpful with dinner reservations, and it was the most comfortable bed the entire trip. Great shower too!
Review 45:One of the lights was out and they were out of shampoo when we were there which was substituted with body wash. Not a big deal for us but somewhat disappointing. Also shower head wasn't adjusting correctly (a seal was broken/head didn't maintain its adjusted position) and the doors didn't seal perfectly (leading to some water leakage).
Review 46:Location was great. Room was clean and comfortable.
Review 47:Breakfast was good and sufficient but I'm on a very limited diet and wasn't able to eat anything they offered without cheating on my diet. My issue, not theirs. They offered pastries, eggs, cereal, yogurt, juices. Friends I was with thought it was very good.
Review 48:Very charming, very clean. We were assisted with our luggage when we arrived. I had the small single room with the day bed and it was plenty large for me #204. There was street noise but didn't bother me that much. I was very comfortable. Great location, look for the flags hanging above the staircase right next to the bar with Cibo in Assisi on the window. Walking from the parking lot was only about 3 blocks and not a big deal if you're even remotely fit.
Review 49:I loved the interior design in this old building. I had the single room, with a comfy wide single bed that doubled as a sofa/ day bed. The bathroom was divine, modern and very clean. I loved the slight changes in levels walking through hotel plus the lighting arrangements. The hotels position is nice and close to the bus stop and also the Basilica.
Review 50:The wifi was down for the duration of our stay
Review 51:The breakfast was good for the hotel price. Bed was comfortable and clean. Hotel is modern despite the old facade
Review 52:There was no toothpaste and toothbrush, the heater didn't seem to work that well (just a little bit cold in the room, but not bad), and the free WiFi dropped signal here and there at times, but again, not really that bad.
Review 53:Location was fantastic. About two minutes from the Basilica of St. Francis. Staff were friendly, room was clean and comfortable, and the free breakfast was quite good.
Review 54:Although the hotel is very near the San Francesco basilica, it's not very central, since the basilica itself is located at the western end of the city. If you're planning on visiting locations other than the Basilica, the location might not be ideal.
Review 55:The breakfast was amazing, the room was quite clean and comfortable, although a bit small, staff very polite and spoke reasonable English. As someone else mentioned, the location given by google maps for the hotel is a bit off, the hotel is on the right side of the street if you're facing the basilica, and a bit further down then the location given by google. Look for the purple flag that marks the entrance.
Review 56:Everything is ok. Does not have an elevator but it was not a problem at all.
Review 57:It is located a few meters from San Francesco Church in a nice street, The Hotel is new, very confortable, nice bedrooms, calm quiet, delicious breakfast. Nice staff as everybody is this special city. A very good surprise to stay in this Hotel.
Review 58:The room ia not that confortable, it's very simple and small.
Review 59:The Location is the best, absolutely close to the San Francesco Church, perfect! Camilo, the attendant is such a nice person, helped us In everything we needed (our luggage was lost for the air company) and also prepared an amazing breakfast every morning.
Review 60:Room nearest reception can be noisy. This room also needs a shower screen.
Review 61:Fantastic Breakfasts, best I've had in Assisi, and I've stayed at several hotels.
Review 62:-Breakfast -Bathroom doesn't have a curtain so when I took shower its create flood -the single room is just in front of reception so you can hear people making noise until late night
Review 63:Location
Review 64:parking was a bit far away... (5 blocks). Then again, no hotel has a realy close by parking. Short walk though... Good to burn off all the great food we ate!
Review 65:location staff was super friendly nice decco
Review 66:There was nothing wrong with the place as such. However, given the high competition and great offer in the area, the value for money wasn't great. The room was pretty bland and basic and we could have found something with tonnes more character with the money we payed here. This was made even worse by the fact that we were required to pay the full amount at the moment of booking. One would expect to catch the very best value for money in that way but this wasn't the case here.
Review 67:The locations was excellent! Round the corner from the Basilica. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. They helped out in any way possible, even booking dinner tables for us.
Review 68:Minor issue. After makeup the room, they forgot to set new towels in the bathroom so that I had to call.
Review 69:Very kind staffs, clean, comfortable. Highly recommendable.
Review 70:Location, furniture, the hotel is newly renovated and we have been given a free upgrade! Very much appreciated as it was my parents' 40th anniversary!
Review 71:A disadvantage for some would be the reality of the different levelswhich necesitate climbing or descending stairs, some of which were alittle steep.
Review 72:The hotel is beautifully refurbished, each space has lovely character. My sister and I shared a twin bedroom, the beds were very comfortable, bed linen excellent, bathroom beautifully decorated. Breakfast wasexcellent, wide variety of choice, special attention given to ensure ourtea was prepared as we Irish like it! We would both go ther again andwholeheartedly recommend it
Review 73:Steps from the beautiful large church and lovely walk to all the others. Short walk from the parking garage. Friendly helpful staff, very nice breakfast.
Review 74:Hotel is located on a hill which makes it difficult for elderly. Car parking available at bottom of hill which is a grind. No English programmes on TV.
Review 75:Friendliness of the staff. Breakfast was very good with lots of choices. Room was clean and comfortable. Location is also near to Plaza which has taxi rank and local Bus services.
Review 76:Parking was a hassle since you need to park in the lot outside the city walls. While an easy walk, if you need to drop and pick up luggage it involves a lot of maneuvers.
Review 77:Enjoyed the location, close to main church and a wonderful boutique experience. Town of Assisi is a jewel with great restaurants, easy to walk and get around. While there are many of the typical souvenir shops, there are also a good number of local type places with interesting owners and employees.
Review 78:There was nothing I didn't like, but the layout of the rooms requires some climbing of stairs, so this might be problematic to some people. The hotel is in a superb position, but I was not aware of any specific hotel parking for travellers with cars. We arrived by train so it wasn't an issue.
Review 79:Beautifully presented and maintained modern room, with access to the room as if it were an apartment in a updated complex, the exterior with subtle lighting and brick decor as if to retain the charm of an earlier era. The bed was very comfortable and there was a modern and excellent shower /bathroom area. The breakfast room was spacious, welcoming and the food selection was excellent with welcoming staff. Indeed the staff were all invariably very friendly. The hotel is situated extremely close to the Basilica San Francesco. However the hotel might be easy to miss on the narrow street so a taxi hire might pay dividends rather than negotiating luggage from the bus stop. It was a most pleasant hotel to stay in, a real gem.
Review 80:Location is close to basilica and a bit away from thestreet but as all day lots of tourists are passing by, it is a bit noisy (although in the hotel room you do not hear this).
Review 81:modern comfortable hotel very close to the basilica and bus station. Good breakfast.
Review 82:the bed was a bit too hard
Review 83:Central location, clean rooms, very nice bathroom, excellent breakfast, very nice and helpful staff, atmosphere has nice blend of an old building but very nicely remodeled on the inside.
Review 84:excellent location, just few steps away from basilica S. Francesco. Hotel staffs' enthusiasm warm our heart. It's truly a wonderful experience and I strongly recommend the hotel for people who intend to relax in Assisi.
Review 85:There are quite a few steps to negotiate so if someone has a walking problem or perception problem be prepared to have someone act as an aide. If you want to have a snack or glass of wine after nine o'clock this area does not have many places open for business.
Review 86:This hotel is in an ideal spot to see the upper and lower churches of San Francesco. It also is not far from the other areas of interest in Assisi. The staff is very helpful and the recently remodeled rooms are quite good. The nearby streets have some beautiful views of lovely buildings and interesting alleys.
Review 87:Be prepared to walk a lot in town and usually uphill! A very good workout for your legs. Some stairs also at the hotel, so travel light and it will not be a problem. Many taxi cabs available
Review 88:We had a junior suite that was more than adequate for 2 people. The facilities were beautiful and breakfast was a nice continental style with fruit, eggs, colccuts, and pastries. A great cappuccino was provided.
Review 89:Charming location up a few steps from the street near the Basilica of Saint Francis. We loved the big breakfast and the charm of the staff. The rooms were clean, crisp and welcoming. We would stay there again!
Review 90:NOTHING! but when you are looking for the location of the Hotel Sorella Luna on the google map, there's an error. if you are in Via Frate Elia and see the Basilica of San Francesco, the Hotel is not on the left side, but on the right side. it's important because the main entrance of the hotel is small so you could pass by the hotel (actually I did and little bit wandered)
Review 91:-close to the bus station (about 5 min. by walk, but little bit uphill,) -Location. very close to the Basilica of San Francesco -very very nice and kind staff!! -really clean room and bath room -really good breakfast !! -Everything was perfect!!
Review 92:The location is very convenient for access to the Basilica. The hotel is well run and the staff are friendly and very helpful. Our room had a pleasant view over the valley and was clean and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfasts which provided a wide variety of fare catering to many different tastes. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.
Review 93:Nothing
Review 94:This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this hotel and we love everything about it. It is small, but user friendly with a nice staff and a good breakfast. We especially like being near the Basilica so we can enjoy the night views!
Review 95:There were a few steps to climb to get into the entrance. Next time we will pack lighter, smaller suitcases!
Review 96:Hotel Sorella Luna was a great surprise. The room was modern and very clean. The included breakfast was excellent.
Review 97:Nothing that I didn't like
Review 98:Location within the city walls close to S. Francis Basilica, friendly service, good breakfast buffet, smart decoration in modern renovation
Review 99:Hotel staffs emailed me that the name of the bus station is 'Piazza Unita d'Italia,' but I could not find the piazza. The name of piazza in the bus station is 'Piazza Giovanni Paolo.'
Review 100:Hotel staffs were so nice and gentle. the location is good(1 minutes walk to St. Francis & 5 minutes walk to the bus station). Rooms are very clean.

Review 108:-Spacious and comfortable room with modern facilities. - Great view of the farmland -Breakfast spread -Staff very helpful!
Review 109:very hard bed didnt make for a comfortable nights sleep
Review 110:excellent location, nice big room, very clean and great breakfast.
Review 111:No vegetables at breakfast
Review 112:Staff and location
Review 113:Room a little hot.
Review 114:Amazing location and breakfast was the best.
Review 115:Did not represent good value for money, thought it expensive. Breakfast was poor.
Review 116:Great location for visiting the town. Staff extremely friendly.
Review 117:Location and service
Review 118:It was very close to the cathedral and car parking and the staff and the room were excellent.
Review 119:Tea ,coffee available to make in room. Some tomatoe, cucumber at breakfast. Too much sweet stuff.
Review 120:Good location
Review 121:nice central location for the town. close to the bus stop if you are coming by public transport. quiet. Assisi is outstanding!
Review 122:Close to the busstation nice hotel
