Review 2：This was our second stay at Porto Ulisse and will not be our last. Aldo's property is gorgeous with a gorgeous view. The value is great for all you get. New this time was a "dispensa," a pantry of sundries. This was so important because at the hour we arrived, everything was closed. This was amazing after a long day of travel with young children. Thanks, as always, for a fantastic stay!

Not too far from Tropea (20 minute walk to the steps up to the town) but we didn't do that at night. Lovely beaches nearby.

Review 10：The hotel has excellent location. From the swimming pool and the sundeck one has stunning views of the adjacent sea and surrounding hills. At dusk, a beautiful sunset can be seen. Everything is very clean and the chairs on the sundeck are very comfortable.

Review 12：Internet can not be received in the rooms (only outside). No towels! Checkin at second floor without lift. Keep someone waiting for you on ground floor before you carry all your luggage up and down again (install a bell?)

Review 22：Small living area for son sleeping on pull out bed (supposed to sleep 5 but not really). Poor cooking facilities/equipment ie no oven or microwave or coffee pot or utensils. Some rather insentivie rude guests especially eastern Euroepan hogging sun loungers.... Staff rather laid back in their attitude to their 'hogging' behaviour! Glass by the pool area - rather dangerous - minor stuff really.

Review 35：Relaxed Italian atmosphere, with friendly staff. We (especially the grand-children) particularly liked the roof-top pool and sun terrace area- which was never crowded during our stay. There was a very convenient pizzeria / food market nearby, with helpful, friendly owners.

Review 36：Upon check -in, the receptionist spoke very quickly in Italian even though I told her I only spoke a little and I repeatedly asked her in Italian to slow down or repeat herself but she did not. The shower was tiny and there was barely any water pressure making it very difficult to shower. The toilet was right up against the shower stall which was very uncomfortable. No towels are provided unless you pay for them. The kitchen was very minimally equipped. The room smelled mil-dewy/musty. There was only 1 seat at the table inside the room. I got locked in the bathroom when the key would not unlock the door. Luckily, maintenance came quickly and got me out within 10 minutes. Wanted 16 Euro round trip per day for our family of 4 to take the shuttle bus to and from the beach.

But then coffees were great and so was the service. Wi-fi didnt work in the room. Smoking allowed in hotel which is a no for me. One night i went out on balcony and neighbours were blowing smoke fumes into our balcony which obviously wasnt enjoyable..

Review 50：We were given street-side room - road is busy and you can hear noise also from the train (really hard to sleep) - ask for garden-side room. Walls are thin so you can hear your neighbours. As its mentioned on the booking.com site wifi is avaliable at the common area, it's almost impossible to connect from the room.

The staff are very friendly, special Favio who is tipical and likable calabrian men wanted to help make, who explained everything in few minutes without boring us and gave just the information we needed: where to go, where to eat, what to see and what to do !! The location is great for exploring the local region with towns Tropea, Pizzo, Scila ...). The top pool and jacuzzi had panoramic views across the coast. We were happy familly with two lively children enjoyig in every moment. Accommodation was simple and very clean. Beds are confortable with new mattresses. And breakfasts: individual and the best. WALKING From the 1st floor apartments you need to circumnavigate the hotel through the garden to reach the rooftop stairs. If your apartment is ground floor you have direct acces.

The apartment was big enough so we didn't 'pack' our foldable beds during the day. Our bathroom was adequate and being at the 1st floor we had big balcony with furniture facing the evening sun and view over the pitoresq city of Tropea.A/C works perfect and is very quiet.Remote is easy to use.Enough 220V outlets to charge your phones and camera's.Small flatscreen TV in room. We didn't use it.FOOD & BEVBreakfast is good. Coffee bar is included and boy did we enjoy it.Aldo knows the best (regional food) restaurants in Tropea and is very helpful at making the necessary reservations. We tried all of them! Hence we didn't use our apartment kitchen.ROOFTOP BLISSThe diamond in the crown is the apartment rooftop. It provides superb Sea view for everybody. You and your kids will love the swimming pool en jacuzzi. Deck chairs are very comfortable.Hotel bar has a stunning view and service is very family style.... Also its a couple of miles walk to Tropea for evening meals- after a glass of bubbly this was quite a pleasure but there are plenty of taxis/minibuses you can get if you don't fancy an evening stroll.

The rooms were adequate with stunning views of the Mediterranean sea and the Aeolian Islands, Stromboli seemed so close and made a fantastic sky line. The food was excellent and very well priced. Tropea is a beautiful town that also hosts an annual blues festival attracting blues artists from all over the world.

Review 69：Basic kitchen equipment, (no toaster or oven in our unit but the fridge and freezer were large and kept things properly cold) You may have to buy cleaning supplies. We found the beds very hard but that's a question of personal preference. The shower was a bit weak and the temperature was very erratic.

Review 80：The residence Porto Ulysse is very comfortable, you really have all you might need for a family or a single traveller: garage parking, easy to use and complete kitchen, tv, clean and big bathroom, balcony, gardens, a barbecue area... The swimming pool is pretty large and also have a kids area, a solarium terrace with a magnificent view on the Stromboli's Volcano. You can also relax in the little but clean and heated jacuzzi, personally I was happy for the small size, beacuse I don't like to share a jacuzzi with strangers and it was perfect for my family (2 adults 1 girl). The staff was very kind and professional, we were received at our arrival by Fabio, who explained everything in few minutes without boring us and gave just the information we needed: where to go, where to eat, what to see and what to do !! Mr Aldo, the brother, was very smart and kind too, very elegant in the service and also very nice: he gave us the possibility to use the swimming pool facilities also the day of our departure: thank you a lot!!

Review 85：We stayed at Residence Porto Ulisse during the last week of July 2014.The weather was a bit cloudy once we had arrived and the mood was low, as everyone who has travelled in Italy probably knows it is not particularly comfortable for the traveller especially if you don't speak Italian. We arrived at Porto Ulisse and straight away the Hotel gives off a feel that it is well mantained and generally modern and refurbished. The roof terrace with pool and jacuzzi is luxurious and the view is incredible from up there. If Tropea's beach wasn't so amazing we would have stayed here more often, although families seemed to enjoy it a lot.One minus upon our arrival was that the person at the reception (Romania) didn't speak much English although it was enough to get the basic information across and you could definitely tell that she cared a lot for our needs and wanted to make us feel welcome - even pouring us a free glass of prossecco which was just lovely and calmed the nerves.The room we were assigned to was on the bottom floor (Room No.1), we did not have the option to specify what room we wanted so we were expecting anything really. The really nice rooms with a view at the sea are on the first floor, most of the rooms on the ground floor either look at a garden or another house. Our window in the bedroom looked at a wall, but again we did not specify preferences so I was not phased by this. Furthermore we spent most of our time up and about and not in the hotel room so I really didn't care although my better half did, and she went to complain to Aldo. That is how we first met the loveliest hotel owner I have ever known, he was immediately ready to offer us alternatives showing us the bookings and other rooms we could choose. I eventually persuaded my GF that it is fine for us to stay in the room due to the above mentioned reasons and seeing as Aldo was so happy to help I wanted to make it easier for him.

Breakfast was great. We have got some additional discount from manager/owner for bar spending. This is family run residende/apartment hotel The owners love their work, and guests can feel it. They fixed quickly also the wifi problem caused by external reasons. Residence has plenty of parking places. We want to return back to this hotel. The reality is even more beautiful than photos.

Review 90：The Jacuzzi is not kept warm all the time. You must heat up the water before you go in. We let it warm up for approximately 30 minutes, and it was still not very warm. The bed was extremely firm and moderately uncomfortable.

Review 91：The landscaping and grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Our room was very nice and clean. The air conditioner worked well. This facility is better suited for a long-term stay. You can cook meals in your room. The facility is not located at the beach but you can get to the beach or to the town of Tropea in a short drive (It is a long walk). The kitchenette has a refrigerator and they provided cups, glasses, bowls, plates, pots, and pans with the kitchenette. However, you must bring your own paper towels and a trashcan and wastepaper basket and trash bags (for the kitchen and for the bathroom). You must bring your own dishwashing soap, a scrub brush and towels to clean your dishes. Brooms are provided and I believe you must perform your own housekeeping. You must also bring your own bath towels and hand towels. You can rent bath towels for €1 each. They did not have any hand towels for us to rent during our one night stay. On our porch, there was a drying rack so we could hang up our wet towels and swimsuits outside. At the facility, there is a nice pool with a wonderful lounge area. They have a small Jacuzzi up on a high deck with a nice view of the ocean.

Review 96：This new resort in Parghelia Italy is a stone's throw away from Tropea. Porto Ulisse is family run by three brothers who are always on site. The Mother prepares the delicious and mouth watering breakfasts which are included in the unbelievable price. This tropical vacation apartment is more like a hotel. We booked this location on line from Toronto for 5 days in this beautiful oasis of Calabria where the turquoise water does in fact meet heaven. The apartment was perfect & clean with all amenities including parking on site. On the upper level of the complex is a pool,hot tub, breakfast area and bar and let's not forget the spectacular view. Perfect location for families with children. Five minutes walking distance to a restaurant/mercato. The three brothers were so accommodating and ready to please at all times. Friends and family will be visiting Calabria this summer/fall/winter. Porto Ulisse is THE place to visit to get the real taste and feeling of Calabrian hospitality. We will be back.
