Reviews for Hotel Villa Le Rondini

Review 1:Our room had a musty/damp smell.

Review 2:The hotel offers gorgeous views of Florence. It is an excellent location with the bus stop outside the villa with a 15 minute ride to Florence. Staff was great. Pool is very nice too.

Review 3:On the website the hotel is listed as being in Fiesole which is where we wanted to be and did not hire a car for this reason. Infact it is 5km away and to get there by public transport involves a bus into Florence and then another back up again. To be fair, the owner did try to book a taxi for us at 8pm on Friday but was unable to get through to the taxi company. The decoration is very much of the 1970's and the bathrooms to match. Ours was very small and had a strong smell of pee. No shower curtains in our children's bathrooms so bathrooms were awash. Our son's room was beside the maid's laundry area and the 2nd night a dog was locked up in it and barked all night. There were several dogs around. There was a particularly bad tempered one which was tied up (luckily) behind the reception desk as it barked manically whenever it saw anyone. Another (large) one was on the loose though and did chase after us one evening. We were fine but a small child would have been frightened. We also chose the hotel because of the swimming pool. The pool is of an adequate size for the hotel, but they run a sort of club for all the neighbours who seem to come and spend the day there. There is insufficient space either in or out of the dirty green pool as a result and it felt a bit like the London rush hour with standing room only, with plastic sunchairs or varying degrees of comfort, cheek by jowl with each other. Generally the whole atmosphere is very shabby, although there is a degree of charm.

Review 4:Fantastic view over Florence. Staff and owner were all very charming and helpful and went to a lot of trouble.

Review 5:Gorgeous views! Splendid spot just outside the hustle & bustle of Firenze. We hit the Uffizi in the morning & the pool in the afternoon. Campari Spritzs! The restaurant is delicious & has those amazing views.

Review 6:It took us 2 hours to find the place and arrived just before dinner ended. the chef did feed us but the meal wasn't good.

Review 7:The views from the garden were spectacular. An interesting old property a bit shabby.

Review 8:Excellent location - a 15 minute bus ride from centre of Florence with 3 buses an hour. A cool escape in the heat of the summer and a peaceful retreat in the winter. Beautiful surroundings and views. Family run hotel. Good chef.

Review 9:Bathrooms, dated furniture, general condition of hotel, advertised as a 4 star( No chance) No shower curtain just a mixer tap in the yellow bath.

Review 10:Position,locality.swimming pool

Review 11:The location of this hotel was stunning. In the hills of Fiesole, the view of the city is marvelous. Lovely swimming people and the staff was helpful and friendly. I highly recommend the restaurant there; Chef Giuseppe is a master. Easy access by bus to the city.

Review 12:The chef and the food he cooked was fabulous! It was so good...The staff was attentive and very friendly…The location was incredible…the pool overlooked Florence…we had beautiful views of the city!

Review 13:The setting was beautiful

Review 14:Shabby facility - for sure not a 4 star Hotel!

Review 15:Nice view

Review 16:There was not a shower only a bath.. Restaurant food was below average

Review 17:OUR ROOM, VERY SMALL AND NOISY

Review 18:THE LOCATION

Review 19:A dog belonging to a staff member chased my son

Review 20:Walking around the grounds

Review 21:nothing

Review 22:I could write for a hour. But I will make it short, Everything was fantastic.

Review 23:Mosquitoes, unprofessional restaurant service, static menu. Fiesole town a disappointment.

Review 24:The view from the pool and traditional italian Gardens with views. Bath and aircon room wonderful in heat of summer! helpful reception.

Review 25:This is nothing like a four star hotel. The place is shabby and unclean. The photographs in no way reflect the reality of a hotel which is poorly cared for and in need of a massive update. We stayed in one of the properties in the grounds. Awful place. I felt for the staff employed there who no doubt have to face the many disgruntled customers.

Review 26:the location and pool are the real positives

Review 27:the villa had a fantastic view over Florence, the pool was great. The rooms poorly decorated and VERY old furniture, mosquitos were in thousands. The door difficult to open or lock due to old. The shower terrible experience because one leaves the complete bathroom wet due no courtains and one has to hold the shower with the hand. the signs on the road completelly confusing, breakfast poor; once we had dinner and it was fair. so the view is the one and only winner.

Review 28:Slow WiFi and not really functional in the rooms (this is often the case in hotels claiming to have free WiFi)

Review 29:Fantastic view over Florence, comfortable, relaxing atmosphere.

Review 30:We arrived rather late, past 1am and we couldn't find anyone to letus in. We stayed outside for quite some time then finally the owner, Ibelieve, woke up and got us in. She was pleasant.

Review 31:We stayed very briefly there, one night, but the view was beautiful andthe feeling was very homey. The decor is old-fashioned but its part ofthe old family villa feeling, which was nice.

Review 32:It was little bit cold ( in october) and the beautiful enviroment should be more cleaner.

Review 33:Enviroment is the most beatiful, but it should it be more clean and tide up.

Review 34:See above. Pool hours, cleanlinness, bonnet in pool. Un peu vieillot. But for 3 days with very warm weather it was fine...

Review 35:This is definitely not your usual hotel. Having stayed in a number of 4 star hotels in Italy, at first it is a deception. One of the criteria of a 4 star (charging 100 euro per room) is that it should be up to standards, clean, close to top etc....but it wasn't. The dinner was so and so, one of the rooms we got was definitely sub standard (not clean, air conditioning not working properly, clothes left behind and shower obviously not cleaned...). The other room was however charming and with the most fantastic view of Firenze one could enjoy. It was Fiesole just outside on your balcony. The property was fantastic (22 ha but a fire had come across it the week before - measures were taken so it seems to be corrected). The pool has a fantastic location but was only open until 19.00 and required bonnets. Not popular!

Review 36:I was a little concerned about the negative comments that some peoplehad made regarding the staff but I found this to not be reflected in myexperience the staff. Wing extremely helpful. The evening meal if youwished to stay was quite expensive. It was good. The hotel pool areacould do with a bit of a smartening up if I was being fussy.

Review 37:The hotel is not a modern hotel but has tremendous character and I foundvery helpful staff. The main selling point of the hotel for me is thefantastic pool with diving board and great view over Florence. The poolalso has a great pool bar for food and drinks. We had 3 rooms for ourfamily each was served with excellent air con and individual bathrooms, though our bathroom was a bit dated the others were fine. The hotel is a15 minute bus ride costs 12 euro's for 5 return a taxi was 20 euros eachway! The breakfast is good as is the evening meal. Would recommend thehotel for a summer stay due to pool alone after walking round Florenceit was fantastic for cooling off!!!

Review 38:Insect of all kinds including very hungry mosquitos are everywhere.Booking.com shouild post warning for this place most coments for thisplace are same like mine. This supose to be 4 stars ,I wonder who theyhad to bribe to get that,or if its realy mean anything. I have stayed inroad side motels 10 times cleaner that this

Review 39:Location over looking florence after that absolutely the worstexperience so far . the worst case of missrepresentation on web.olddirty, smely, the receptionist/owner rude and arogant, food so far theworst that italy has to offer.the pictures on the web must b about 20 yrold second day, while trying to find out where is the smell comingfrom,we remove the beding and there it was.old worn out mattrace, coverdin sweat and urin stains. Repulsive

Review 40:The management does not consider the whole service from the customerpoint of view. For example, we stayed in the double room with thebalcony facing the scenery of Firenze city, but because of the big treeswe cannot see the center of the city such as Santa Maria del Fiorecupola. Comparing with other superior vilaa type hotel in Italy such asVilla Michelangelo in Vicenza, there is no good space to relax outsideof the hotel building. There is a garden place to have breakfast but nogood scenery. The hotel staff is not friendly at all. In summary, thisvilla should be good potential but currently not recommendable to stayfor my friends, due to the above...

Review 41:Just the location is good, to overlook the city of Firenze.

Review 42:What we will remeber of Villa Le Rondini is unfortunaltely the surprisingly arrogant and proud lady who ownes the place. The biggest arguments concerned the broken air conditioning - which we had already paid for, ofcourse - in both of the two rooms of our group. They were the hottest days of the summer and one really coulden't sleep because of the continuous sweating. The way the lady treated us and tried to avoid the problem was far from what you expect from a hotel service. The nature of the owner reflects on the Villa itself and the surroundings, the place seemes to be in a state of neglect.

Review 43:The location of Villa Le Rondini, on one of the hills surrounding Florence, is very beautiful. There's a spectacular view over the city, altough it´s widely covered by vegetation. All of the staff were very kind, except for the lady who owned the Villa. They offer an OK breakfast, and very good food in the restaurant.

Review 44:It is difficult to find. I would recomend to travel to the city by car (the parking is not so difficult) as the hotel is in the middle of the olive trees park and walking in the dark would not be very nice.

Review 45:Location. The view from balcony.

Review 46:This Hotel is a little piece of paradise. It is located up on a hill above the city on grounds that include acres of beautiful woods and stunning views of the city below. It is peaceful due to it's location outside the hectic pace of the downtown Florence. However, a short walk to the bus stop makes it possible to be in the heart of the city in just 15 minutes. The staff are very friendly and helpful creating a warm feeling of staying with family. The architecture and decor are very quaint giving an insight to the cultural life of earlier times. The restaurant provides great food at reasonable prices and it is very convenient to have the option to eat on site. I would definitely recommend the Hotel Villa Le Rondini.

Review 47:This was not a problem for us, but there is no elevator.

Review 48:This hotel is very quaint and has a lot of charm. The land around the hotel is beautiful and there are amazing views of Florence and Tuscan country side from the garden. It would be perfect in the summer when the pool is open. Our room was spacious and the balconies were lovely. The food was amazing the staff was so helpful and friendly.

Review 49:excellent location and services. pool, dining, overall positive experience. Professional staff was very accommodating.

Review 50:quiet, homey, buses close by
