Reviews for Hotel Villa Aurora

Review 1:Staff that was on duty at the restaurant when we had dinner there wasn't particularly concerned with speed and accuracy of ordering and serving food, but hey, it all added to the slightly run-down charm of this wonderful place.

Review 2:What a wonderful location, opposite the bus stop to Florence, and we had a great ancient room with a magnificent view of Florence. Very hospitable hosts, but a bit challenged with over-the-top demands of other (especially US) guests. I expected a 'Basil Fawlty' outburst, but it would t come. Oh - little, but nice pool to enjoy at the end of a hit day!

Review 3:OLD MATTRESSES AND VERY UNCOMFORTABLE BEDS AND PILLOWS. NO ELEVATORS. CARRIED SUITCASES UP 3 FLIGHTS OF STAIRS FROM PARKING AREA. NEEDS TOTAL RENOVATION IF THEY WANT THEIR 4 STARS!

Review 4:LOCATION!

Review 5:Buffet breakfast was rather minimalistic for overall hotel price; open air swimminmg pool was closed though day temperatures at 25 - 27

Review 6:"Room with a view" but relative small and pricey. Renovated bath room !

Review 7:Breakfast was a bit of a let down - buffet had a poor selection and needs more attending.

Review 8:Very conveniently located in the centre of Fiesola. Stunning views of Florence, room was comfortable with a bit of quirkiness ( in a pleasantly surprising way). Staff were excellent and more than willing to help with Taxi’s etc.

Review 9:My partner was unable to join me for the first 2 days and no discount given. Dusty and dirty under the bed. Breakfast poor.

Review 10:Good location, bus outside door.Interesting town.Quiet, spacious room.

Review 11:A BIT FADED : SIDE OF BUILDING NEEDS COMPREHENSIVE REFURBISHMENT, RESTAURANT DISAPPOINTING (BUT FORTUNATELY TERRASE 45 NEARBY OUTSTANDING)

Review 12:FINE OLD BUILDING WITH EXCELLENT STAFF, LOOKING OUT ONTO MAIN PIAZZA, BUS TO FLORENCE EVERY 15 MINUTES. FREE CAR PARK.

Review 13:Mattress very hard, restaurant a little expensive. No good restaurants in the vicinity.

Review 14:Close to transport,museum,opposite piazza,church bells,breathtaking views.

Review 15:Location, location, location

Review 16:Crumbling, tired, run down, poor room, poor facilities.

Review 17:Locatiom

Review 18:Way too expensive (we paid 199 euros for a single night) for what is really just a pretty shabby old hotel.

Review 19:Nice views.

Review 20:A/c not efficient . Pool seemed slightly grubby with mosquitoes ++......but they have had a wet summer

Review 21:Position

Review 22:the whole state of the hotel is a bit outdated

Review 23:the location of the hotel is really perfect, friendly staff. Room was clean and well maintained

Review 24:Wonderful views from the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful

Review 25:Nothing.

Review 26:I've stayed here twice over the years and have always had an excellent experience. Wonderful staff and the views are amazing.

Review 27:Our standard room had a tiny and very inconveniently arranged bathroom. Shower tiny with fixed overhead shower head, cracked surrounds to the washbasin. Furnishings in the room old, tired and minimal. Scruffy yard outside our window which attracted mosquitoes. This hotel needs complete renovation and does not deserve its four star rating, and its four star room rates are outrageous.

Review 28:The only thing to recommend this hotel is its location above Florence and that the bus to Florence leaves from the square in front of the hotel.

Review 29:Rooms were dirty and worn and in need of immediate renovation. Never worth 4 stars, barely two. One plastic cup (for 2) for drinking water hardly what a 4 star hotel should offer. A few minutes in the restaurant made it clear that is was over priced and that it would take ages before anything happened - in an almost empty restaurant.

Review 30:public spaces nicely renovated

Review 31:Restaurant expensive, food not update to good restaurant standards and service could improve

Review 32:Quiet, large room, location, very friendly hotel staff, furnishings while old, are tasteful, good breakfast

Review 33:Could be updated, but was nice.

Review 34:Location above Florence and ease to travel back and forth, taking the bus which is in front of the hotel. Lots of electrical outlets. Nice view from restaurant. Good shower but small tub.

Review 35:The whole place is in need of a good refurbishment. It will be very nice with some fresh paint and no wires hanging from the walls!

Review 36:Lovely hotel, well located and good breakfast

Review 37:The restaurant had poor service and breakfast was fairly basic.

Review 38:Hotel has a faded elegance which is lovely. Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The position of the hotel is perfect - great view over Florence and great base for exploring.

Review 39:This is not a 4 star at all. Maybe not even a 2 stars. This hotel stopped at the 60's. Obsolescent. Our room was small, old decadent. Furniture was inadequate and falling into pieces. Moquette worn out and dirt. Toilette unacceptable. Housekeeping came after 2pm. Only bed lining and towels were clean. Beds and matresses were not acceptable. We all had pain to our shoulders on the morning. Staff is not trained to run hotel 24/7. We had to wait 8am for the right lady to check-out. A disaster!

Review 40:Position. Temperature of the room, warm enough. Quite remarkable given the Florence/Fiesole std.

Review 41:Hotel is in need of some care and upgrading in public areas. Many burned out light bulbs in hallways and large water stains in celling of breakfast room. Our room had a mattress so hard that it made us think we slept on the floor. Parking in front of hotel to drop luggage was a challenge. Too many stairs from hotel parking if you travel with heavy luggage.

Review 42:Friendly staff, charming interior of hotel, great location with wonderful views of Florence. Several great restaurants in town and some interesting sights. Great inexpensive public bus service in about 15 minutes to the heart of Florence from right outside hotel.

Review 43:Triple room was too small for 3 teenagers, one bed was a sofa bed & the kids did not have enough room for their own immediate needs. The room should not have been offered as such. 2 staff on duty to serve 8/9 tables of guests at dinner. We waited an hour for our bill. The surroundings were tired and grubby, as if the upkeep was just top much, rather sad really.

Review 44:Location for access to Florence outside the city Location within fiesole itself

Review 45:The only point which disturbed me highly - the absences of elevator at hotel - so since my leg was broken I did not have any chance to live at 3rd flow with great view at Florence or visit pleasant restoran for breakfast or dinner at -1st flor.

Review 46:View.

Review 47:Room was very comfortable and well-equipped, but I wouldn't describe as a 'superior double' as it was not as big as any shown on the website. It had an extra bed that we didn't need - I would rather have had a larger room.

Review 48:Excellent location right on the main piazza in Fiesole - the open top bus tour of Florence and the local bus stopped right outside the hotel. Lovely view from the room and restaurant.

Review 49:No lift.

Review 50:The position is excellent for day trips to Florence. The bus is just outside the hotel and goes every 10minutes. Hotel rooms good. The restaurant looks over Florence

Review 51:no tea making facilities in room, small TV. Slightly run down feel about it.

Review 52:receptionist was lovely!! good value for money. Good location for seeing Fiesole, which is what we wanted. Within easy walking distance of La Reggia Restaurant, which was great!

Review 53:outstanding location for a visit to Florence. The bus leaves two steps away from Hotel. Parking and driving in Florence are a nightmare. Dont miss an outstanding dinner at La Reggia in Fiesole, up the hill with beautiful view on Florence and excellent food.

Review 54:This is a small hotel in a great location close to Florence. The hotel is in an old building with lots of charm and a rustic feel. It's not perfect, plenty of character and some of the room features may appear limited and a bit tired but for us it only added to the feel and our enjoyment of the place. Very clean and the staff were polite and always helpful.

Review 55:Hotel is grubby, the bathroom was awful the shower just big enough tofit in and I am small. The bed was very hard and not the least bitcomfortable. The only good thing about the room was the view overFlorence. The breakfast options limited, the bread not fresh! The hotelsaid they were fully booked but only see another two couples. Theswimming pool was filthy when I asked the staff about it and if theywould clean it they reluctantly said yes but it was not ready till 4pm.Restaurant didn't even dare to try.

Review 56:On May 16, at checkout, we paid the hotel in full for the 5 nights we stayed there. On May 22, at the next hotel, where we had Internet availability, we checked our credit card statement and found that the Hotel Villa Aurora charged an additional amount ($368) on May 1 - 10 days before we arrived at the hotel. I called the hotel and spoke to Antonella. She expressed shock at the extra charge. She said that she would look into it immediately and notify me by e-mail that the matter was resolved. To date, we never heard from her. If the extra charge was an error, it should have been corrected immediately. If it was fraud, my credit card company will take care of it.

Review 57:Fabrizio in the reception was very helpful in arranging a better room with excellent view and, otherwise, providing suggestions.

Review 58:We had ordered a trippel room with an extra bed (=4). They thought thatit = 3. And became very agressive about it. Only when we showed them anemail we had sent to the hotel, confirming our reservation, did theygive us a room. Lesson if you book extra bed it has to be confirmed bythe hotel. The hotel promised a pool but it was not open - only end ofMay. The bathroom had only a little running hot water not sufficient fora shower and it took 30 min to fill the tup. All in all old run downhotel in a stunning location.

Review 59:Excellent location with stunning views over Florence.

Review 60:Too expensive for standard which offered. Not eaven close to 4 stars. Old, shabby rooms, bathrooms las time decorated at leas 50 years ago. Breakefast was very modest. All thogether not that good value for money.

Review 61:Hotel is located in very nice place (Fiesole) close to Florrence. This is noly advantages of this hotel

Review 62:breakfast

Review 63:lovely design amazing view to the city

Review 64:Hotel needs some maintenance work.

Review 65:Elegant room. Friendly service.

Review 66:We appreciated the upgrade to a room with a stunning night view of Florence. Food served in the restaurant was of a high standard.

Review 67:Dark rooms, too expensive

Review 68:Location, staff

Review 69:Located just on the main square of Fiesole. Welcoming set of drinks in a rooms fridge and well breakfast is included in the the price.

Review 70:its location

Review 71:Nothing. Everyone was lovely. The room was awesome and the view, stunning.

Review 72:Everything. My favourite place in our 3 weeks in Europe.

Review 73:I liked the hotel structure.
