Reviews for West Garda Hotel
Review 1:The decor is absolutely terrible (70's), very unsettling like something out of the 'adams family', leaving you uneasy. The entire property needs significant refurbishment. Management were unhelpful and staff were aimless resulting in poor standards. Gordan Ramsey is badly needed here with a change of ownership & complete change to the 'stone faced' front desk/management team. They claim '4 stars' but really its generous to give it '3'. They have no customer acumen at all.
Review 2:Very little. They had an un heated pool to cool you down.
Review 3:a little too far out of dessenzano for our liking, our previous hotels were within walking distance of the bars & restaraunts in the town, as long as you are happy to stay within the local of the hotel then the hotel is fine
Review 4:room quite large, plenty of parking, staff friendly, more than willing to arrange taxis into dessenzano for us in the evening
Review 5:Cleaning was every day, but disinfection smells too much. I had to open window for all day.
Review 6:Nice place. Cool for family with children . However it was almost none in the day we were here. Quit, clean. Great pools, lovely nature around. Breakfast is ok. Great wifi.
Review 7:being really picky here inside games room needs freshening up
Review 8:the large pool the staff all helpful and friendly especially helpful with Italian pronunciations the massive bbq helpings big buffet breakfast spread efficient maids the amount of space, inside and outside outside table tennis
Review 9:The hotel could use a renovation. A few more attractions for younger children would be nice, currently there is only a small plastic slide (too small even for my 2 y/o) a seesaw. The 2 pingpong tables could use a fresh coat of paint. The fruit in the fruit bowl at the breakfast buffet was rarely replaced, and most of the fruit was too soft to eat. The breakfast is very repetitive, and not much variety. A few more types of cheese and vegetables would be nice. They wanted an extra 15 Euro a day for a baby cot in the room. Other hotels didn't charge any extra fee.
Review 10:The location is very good, 5 min walk to the beach, 5 min drive to the shopping center & 30 min to Gardaland. The hotel has its charm and the pool and grounds are big and well kept. The staff is very helpful and courteous. Don't drink the coffee from the machine, ask for a cappuccino or latte machiatto, they will gladly make it for you.
Review 11:The hotel is a 10mins walk from the lake Garda, no view of the lake. Also you have to do the walk to go to a restaurant, as the hotel one had very limited choice for dinner.
Review 12:Large green areas, quiet.
Review 13:Service was terrible. *Toilet seat broken, never got fixed (cracked and pinched my wife and I when we sat on it.) *Our room had green outdoor carpet and was very ugly. We told the front desk about it and they didn't seem to care. Only after our money. We requested the room that was advertised on line. We showed them the room we saw on line. We told them that we stayed at the Hotel Francesca for 5 days and loved it. The service and room were just as advertised. We were told that they are they are only a 3 star hotel and the West Garda is a 4 star hotel. Our experience with both hotels, the Francesca is a far better place to stay at much less money. We plan to come back next year for 2 weeks and the Hotel Francesca will get our business. We will also recommend to anyone traveling in the Padenghe area not to stay there. They practice the old bait and switch. Show you a beautiful room and put you in a room that is hideous. *Upon leaving, they had a chance to help ease the stay by maybe at least matching the Hotel Francesca price of 80 euro per night. Of course, they did not. *Wi Fi only worked outside in front of the building. We complained, again, they didn't care.
Review 14:Nothing really
Review 15:I can't really think of anything that I didn't like.
Review 16:A lovely hotel with wonderful team of management & staff who made our stay memorable. Large room with own terrace and good breakfast. Within walking distance from the lake and restaurant. And much more....
Review 17:Low quality of bikes
Review 18:Large room Nice swimming pool
Review 19:not very much choice for breakfast and loud airconditioner on the room
Review 20:Very nice stay, rooms were clean and neat.
Review 21:Pools, quietness, staff, breakfast
Review 22:Staff weren't friendly. Location was poor if you want to walk and go out
Review 23:Nice grounds and pools
Review 24:Internet not up to 4 star standard
Review 25:TV-small and old Also small kitchen fór the size of the apartma.
Review 26:The hotel would need a "face lift", it is old and you can see it.
Review 27:Nice hotel, in a big garden and pools, probably great in summer. The breakfast was better than expected in Italy, very good croissants and coffee from the bar. The small village does not offer almost anything, so if the restaurant of the hotel is closed (as it was during our stay, probably off-season), one have to travel by car to Desenzano or even better Sirmione to get a decent meal. But otherwise, the hotel is close to the pebble beach of the lake and there are plenty of places to eat, probably open in summer. For golf players, the hotel has discounts at Arzaga Golf and another course, both being very close (5-10 km).
Review 28:Location is a bit off main site never the less it can be also an advantage since it is a very quiet location. If you have a car it is only 5min drive from Desenzano or 15min drive from Sirmione.
Review 29:This hotel is surrounded by huge green lawns, has 2 pools and all in all the surrounding is beautiful. It is a bit “old fashion” but some will consider that as a “character”. The hotel has a huge private parking and it is free. We had a family room that has 2 separate areas, with no door between them (what would have been better if there was!) with one double bed and 2 beds for the children. It is very big and comfortable, air-conditioned, with a safe and big bathroom. Everything was very clean and the room was cleaned and organized every day. One of the best benefits was the breakfast. Not the typical “continental” but a reach buffet of freshly backed Croissants, scrambled eggs, fresh fruits and more. The stuff was very friendly and helpful, on check in we received a lot of information about the area and the activity options around the lake. All in all it was a great experience and we highly recommend this hotel. In less than 200Euros for 4 people it was by all means best value for the money!
Review 30:Pool closed at 6pm, although lots of people stayed out until 8pm.
Review 31:The hotel is in a quieter part of Garda but we liked that and you arenot too far away form the better family attractions. You get bettervalue for money as well being slightly further out than more touristyareas. The rooms were cleaned daily, the staff we very friendly andwelcoming and the pool area was lovely. It was a rustic italian stylehotel and was just what we wanted. The hotel was a 5 minute walk formthe lake and although the lake did go deep fairly quickly it was verypretty and ok for a swim with the kids.
Review 32:A little bit old and need some renovated work.
Review 33:Morning coffee was very good. Spuer garden, two swimming pools and many flowers. Quiet and nice place. Private and free parking place. Wifi was good.
Review 34:Stayed with my two little dogs on the ground floor with patio doors to a grassed area which was fantastic and stress free. Breakfasts are amazing!!
Review 35:the room I had was a little dated, but otherwise this is a lovely hotel even thought it is fairly expensive.
Review 36:I have stayed in this hotel quite a few times and the location is magnificent.
Review 37:Maybe it's me, but I imagined "4 stars" meant more than a pair of slippers :-) Also, this is more a summer place to stay (for the pool, for all the outer spaces)
Review 38:Nice position and good atmosphere.
Review 39:The hotel was absolutely lovely: big hotel area amongst woods, immediately next to the beautiful Lago di Garda and two swimming pools. The staff is extremly nice, the area is lovely and food is delicious!
Review 40:We had no patio furniture or anywhere to dry swimwear on patio, breakfast does not cater for English guests very well.
Review 41:Pool was lovely.
Review 42:Kutchen was closed
Review 43:Nice Rooms
Review 44:Meals were a little expensive.
Review 45:Hotel and grounds were excellent, staff very friendly and helpful, very relaxed and comfortable stay
