Hotel Porta Nuova sells fast on our site. Located just 100 feet from the entrance to the historic center of Assisi, Hotel Porta Nuova is just 650 feet from the Basilica di Santa Chiara. This early 20th-century villa has been completely renovated.
The villa has air-conditioned rooms with satellite TV and a minibar. Each one has a private bathroom with a hairdryer and shower. Some rooms offer beautiful views of the Umbrian valley, others overlook the courtyard.
Porta Nuova is a family-run property that provides free parking and excellent bus services into Assisi. San Rufino Cathedral is around a quarter mile away, and you can reach the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in 25 minutes by foot.
There is a TV lounge and a porch and terrace on the first floor. Outdoors, there are plenty of benches and tables, and a chair swing. The continental breakfast is served buffet style and includes homemade cake, cold cuts, croissants and lots more.

Review 1：Small parking places, hard to park a long car. Have to leave the room key on the reception before going out. If you order a special offer: parking+ welcome drink+ free mini bar, the mini bar refills only once. Very weak wifi connection.

Review 3：Staff very helpful and efficient. Room was very comfortable and spacious for three adults traveling together. Very handy to the old city and on bus route. Excellent breakfast buffet.

Review 11：We really recommend this hotel. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. The room was comfortable, really clean and had a great bathroom. Breakfast was one of the best I've had in an Italian hotel, good choice and obvious local produce such as fresh figs and plums. The hotel is really well located, only a short walk to the main square.The air conditioning in the bedroom was very efficient - and welcome! The room was quiet despite the hotel having a busy road on both sides

Review 25：The card key is meant to both unlock the door and to be fitted into a slot inside the room to activate the electricity. Although we asked for 2 keys we were given one key which made it awkward for one person going out and coming back in.

Review 31：We would have liked a better ,more comprehensive map of the location of the hotel in relation to major attractions prior to booking. An instruction of how to get to the hotel from the railway station would help. Bus stop location would be helpful on the pre booking website. Staff were efficient but not friendly when responding to queries.

Review 32：Location is good as it is a little way from the busy areas. Bus stop is nearby. We could walk to most attractions . Our room was simple but clean and comfortable .The hotel is peaceful and relaxing. A good breakfast was provide in a nice breakfast room.

Review 34：The location was great! Everything in Assisi was walkable from the hotel. Free parking, lovely breakfast and new, sparkling, well-equipped rooms. My husband and I remarked that it was one of the best hotel rooms in our 3-week visit to Italy. It wasn't a large room, but sleekly efficient, enough plugs, a great shower, reading lamps, etc.

Review 35：The gentleman who greeted us at the front desk was bordering on rude. Rather than a warm greeting as in most other hotels, the first thing he said was you are too early, check-in is not until 2:00 PM. I mean it was exactly 1:40. He could have said "welcome to our hotel, let me check and see if your room is ready" - which in fact it was. So he rude greeting was totally unnecessary. Also I do not understand the notice in the room if you leave before 9:00 AM and do not notify the front desk you may be charged for an extra day. We had already pre-paid and I did give them notice that we were leaving at 8:45. I don't understand the point?

Review 40：We liked how close we were to the city center and the several points of interest, to include the Basicila of St Francis. Availability of parking was good.

Review 41：The room had no view, overlooked the roof of the kitchen and was dark. Breakfast was rather dreary. We met 3 members of staff, the first who booked us in was pleasant and helpful by supplying us with a map. The second, on the reception desk next day was brusque. She was very unhelpful when I asked for information about public transport to the airport, telling us there was none! In fact she questioned that there was a local airport! I independently discovered there was a bus, she then looked on line and was surprised that indeed there was a bus which could get us to the airport in 35 minutes. We had to walk a kilometre up a very steep hill to the bus station, only to find it then stopped...outside the hotel. The third member of staff was the man who served breakfast and manned the reception desk in the morning. He began by being offhand and ended by being almost hostile! The hotel was adequate, but we won't be returning as there are many other hotels in the area with charming staff.

Review 44：Location so close to the entrance to Assisi made it easy to access all sites. The staff were very friendly often going our of their way to assist, in particular Marta Lopez who helped us out of a travel hassle.

Review 45：Lovely, modern room and bathroom with a beautiful view of the valley. Had a very pleasant, comfortable stay - my only regret is that I wasn't remaining longer in Assisi. That said, if I ever get the opportunity to go back to Assisi, will book into Hotel Porta Nuova again.

Review 113：The wifi used an irritating system (also encountered at some other places on our trip) where it says you are connected immediately, without requiring a password, but then doesn't actually let you do anything until you do enter a username and password on a page which is hard to find. Simpler access is better!
