Reviews for Giotto Hotel & Spa

Review 1:Poor Wi-Fi coverage. Noisy rooms (because of the close proximity to the street). Plumbing could be improved. Some Do-It-Yourself meals (breakfast) which it wasn't much to our likeness (you had to cut your own cheese, meat and bread - everyone was puting their hands on it and we didn't find that to be hygenic)

Review 2:Very good location, very nice view. Diverse breakfast.

Review 3:A hotel with a fantastic view over the local countryside. Decent rooms and competent staff. Excellent spa facilities and services. Nothing negative to comment on. We enjoyed our short stay and it was decent value for money compared to other hotels in the area.

Review 4:Good isolated rooms, but I could still hear the TV of the neighbour room on the evening when I needed to go to bed early.

Review 5:fantastic view, service and breakfast was excellent, possibilities for very good SPA-treatment

Review 6:The staff member on duty when we arrived and for most of our stay was very offhand and unhelpful. No offer of help with our baggage, and not helpful with our questions. The restaurant was closed for both nights of our stay (Monday and Tuesday) and we think that should be made clear on the website. And when we asked for suggestions of where to eat this staff member was less than helpful

Review 7:The location is great. The breakfast was amazing. The room was comfortable although we think it was in the annexe which we had deliberately not booked. It had an amazing view so we didn't worry about checking. Most staff were very helpful

Review 8:The shower head broke off the hose when I was in the middle of the shower. I had to finish the shower holding the water hose with one hand. The hotel changed our room, it was an upgrade but there was no full-length mirror in the new room, nor magnifying mirror in the bathroom.

Review 9:The hotel is only five minutes' walk to the Basilica of Saint Francis and not far from all other places of interest. Room with the valley view was magnificent. The spa is small but nice if there are no other guests and you have it all to yourself. Parking in front of the hotel is a plus.

Review 10:We checked into rooms that had not been cleaned. A member of the staff was watching tv in the lobby at a very loud volume, we had to move to another room. Getting coffee in the breakfast room was very challenging.

Review 11:The hotel is centrally located

Review 12:Larger hotel with tour groups. Bar was a joke - the choice was red or white wine. The bar area had no appeal whatsoever. The restaurant was downstairs and the one dinner I ate there was absolutely awful - the worst meal of my 3 weeks in Italy. Breakfast buffet was ok. Staff at reception was grouchy and far less than helpful. I would certainly stay elsewhere.

Review 13:Location was great, easy drive in & out, & I parked in their small (VERY small!) covered garage. Room was small, but comfortable bed and fantastic view, very nice bathroom.

Review 14:Although other employees were present, there appeared to be only one person who could (or had to) check people in and out. The day we checked out, there were multiple rooms also departing and there was a wedding happening at the same time yet there was no extra help at the front desk. This employee told at least 5 other individuals "No problem, no problem - just 2 minutes" within the span of 3 minutes. She also told us she had talked to Bruno (our taxi driver) "2 minutes ago" when we had been sitting right in front of her for the previous 5 minutes and could see and hear everything she had been doing - and she did not talk to Bruno. One customer from Oklahoma U.S. who had checked out right before us and had to wait 40 minutes to have his car moved out of the garage! The hotel had substantially underestimated their staffing needs on a Saturday morning with so many check outs and a wedding going on at the same time.

Review 15:Location and view from the balconies were amazing.

Review 16:Everything went perfect.

Review 17:Very Pleasant Stay. Nice Location, Parking inside the Hotel, Outstanding Staff Team and the astonishing peaceful atmosphere in Assisi.

Review 18:Being told as it is after 1st October the air conditioning does not work. Open the windows instead - dangerous if you had little children. Staff reactive rather than proactive at reception.

Review 19:The location should be given a 12 out of 10. Views from our room outstanding looking right across the valley

Review 20:The tour groups seemed to overwhelm the individual traveler. We felt lost in their crowd, especially the first morning at breakfast, we were treated like we were part of the group. The following morning was much more pleasant. The hotel has become too modern. We missed the " old" Giotto. We have been patrons for many years. In the 80's and 90's we would stay for 3-4 weeks at a time. The new is lovely but the old was grand.

Review 21:Location is great, staff very accommodating Each person to whom I introduced myself remembered my name.

Review 22:The wifi speed is on and off, not that stable, and the value for the room with a view per nigh charges 160 is way expensive!

Review 23:The location is easy to approach if you are here by bus, , the breakfast provides wild variety even you can make your own juice, the room is a little bit small but the view is breathtaking, the staff are very nice!

Review 24:Breakfast quality was poor with congestion caused by tour bus guests descending at the same time. Very stressful to drive into the old town.

Review 25:Terrific location, good quality room ( (Donna Beatrice Suite), decor, very good bathroom. Onsite parking great once we arrived.

Review 26:For a 4 star hotel it lacks ambience with the staff doing the basics butlacking any natural spontaneity. I left wondering what the topmanagement was like.

Review 27:Great views from the terrace..

Review 28:None

Review 29:This hotel is very recommendable: good location with parking facilities, quiet, room had very nice view to the countryside. Recommendation: take a room with terrace. Good breakfast with rich choice (unusual for Italy). Also the restaurant can be recommended: very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 30:It was pretty difficult to find....( a lovely young couple actually had us follow them.....there were NOT staying there!)

Review 31:Wonderful hotel!... Room was VERY nice.... SPECTACULAR view!.... Breakfast....many choices & DELICIOUS!!!....we ate dinner in the restaurant.....BEST meal our entire Italy vacation!!!!

Review 32:Though common areas are historic and beautiful the guest room was too plain and unattractive. The spa was unprofessional and totally unrecommended.

Review 33:Location and dinner at the main dining were fabulous.

Review 34:In comparison to other hotels we stayed in the past week the Giotto hotel was the worst experience It did not match our expectations even the quality of the toilet paper was poor!

Review 35:The views from the veranda of the hotel

Review 36:The WiFi was a bit weak in different areas of the hotel, but manageable.

Review 37:Friendly and helpful staff. The view from rooms with balcony was breathtaking. Overall it was a very nice stay at the Giotto.

Review 38:Loved the restaurant where I ate the best meal that I have eaten in Italy - yucca di fiori, duck and the chocolate fondant matched with a Tuscan red that was to die for. The following night I went back. Couldn't fault the service, the food, wine or surrounds!!

Review 39:would like it to be closer to Holland but will surely be back despite distance.

Review 40:we liked the whole atmosphere and the very kind and helpfull staff. In Italy you expect people to be open and direct. Compliment to management. The view from the restaurant is spectacular. restaurant staff, maids, desk reception all great and personal. Highly recommended.

Review 41:You shouldn't have to pay extra for the swimming pool especially if you are staying in the presidential suite

Review 42:The view was amazing, great location and town. Definitely a must.

Review 43:The hotel is lovely and the room was nice with an excellent view. We loved our waiter he was very informative and he was fun. The reception desk was very helpful.

Review 44:Don't expect a friendly welcome or goodbye from the front desk.

Review 45:Good location with excellent view, good breakfast, comfortable bed and room. Wait staff pleasant and helpful.

Review 46:The room was very small . The room and also the facilities are very poorand not for a real four star hotel . This is why the price is very highfor what offers this hotel

Review 47:The perfect location and the breakfast

Review 48:WiFi is unstable and slow. (Parking place is pretty narrow, but staff will manage the cars for you.)

Review 49:location is great. you'll have a breath taking view if you got the nice rooms with balcony.

Review 50:Heating system not working Dirty bathroom Curtain dirty Shower headstand was coming off Corridor carpet smelly and old TV remote not functioning I reported all to reception!! >> no curtesy discount

Review 51:Breakfast hall Location of hotel

Review 52:There isn't disposable slipper . I can't control the boiler so i slept in coldest weather like outside. Comparing the price, it is not good.

Review 53:Nothing.

Review 54:My only complaints of this lovely hotel would be that I could not open my door from the inside of the room without a key and the mattress was very hard. However I will still stay here again when I return to beautiful Assisi.

Review 55:I loved the location, the staff and service, the dining area and the balcony in my room. I loved the nicely appointed rooms and the special touches such as slippers, bathrobes and luxurious towels and toiletries.

Review 56:Loved everything

Review 57:Gorgeous view from indoor and outdoor bar areas; extremely helpful and accommodating staff; delicious breakfast; superb location; great room; no better place to stay in Assisi!!!

Review 58:Very simple room. The hotel was dark, the hall lights are on a sensor but it seems they don't always work. It's within the walls but there aren't many restaurants nearby.

Review 59:The restaurant was wonderful, great breakfast. Staff was excellent. Amazing view.

Review 60:There was no coffee available in the room, but I would still chose the same hotel if I go back to Assisi. It is a place worth seeing!

Review 61:We appreciate the parking lot in front of the hotel as it is rare in Assisi. The location is great! The waiter at the restaurant offered us very good wine and the dinner was very delicious with superb view

Review 62:Nicely appointed large room, comfortable bed. Beautiful views over the countryside from huge terrace. Excellent dinner downstairs on terrace. Helpful staff. Parking on site

Review 63:The hotel is located within the city walls, and all the major sites are within easy walking distance. We were made to feel very welcome when we checked in, and the free parking at the front was an added bonus. Our room had a fantastic view over the countryside, and it was large and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with a good choice of everything. Wi-fi was best in the lounge but we were able to get it in our bedroom. We would have no hesitation in staying there again.

Review 64:Could improve the decor. Needs more attention to aesthetics.

Review 65:Very warm and attentive staff. Easy to check in, easy to check out...no hurdles. Special thanks to Silvia, at the front desk. We immediately felt very welcomed and at home. Parking space available on site

Review 66:- hot stuff of breakfast was cold (eggs, ham) - technical equipment of the hotel needs maintanance (Air condition, doors, ....)

Review 67:+ Location is very good, near to the historical sightseeing + WiFi for free in every room + Big breakfast buffet

Review 68:The service at the hotel was fantastic. The room was perfect and the views were spectacular. The breakfast was very good, particularly the cappuccinos. A very attentive staff at breakfast as well. We enjoyed having drinks on the terrace and enjoying the views.

Review 69:Nothing to dislike

Review 108:Saying good bye.

Review 109:This was my third stay in Assisi, my second time staying at Hotel Giotto. Next time in Assisi I will stay here for sure.

Review 110:I loved the position of the hotel because it is situated about half way up the hill and you could walk up or down with ease.

Review 111:Rooms were down stairs from the reception lots of up and down to get around the hotel.

Review 112:Breakfast area and restaurant

Review 113:Wifi was poor. Not available in rooms. Had to be near reception desk to obtain good cover.

Review 114:Carpet and rooms need a little refreshing

Review 115:Location, service, and breakfast

Review 116:The restaurant food

Review 117:The wait staff inthe restaurant was fabulous. So was the menu but the food was truly awful

Review 118:EXCELLENT LOCAL FOOD FRIENDLINESS OF STAFF

Review 119:Food was fair; charging to use the spa/pool is a little much...

Review 120:Staff and location are great!

Review 121:Amazing views and friendly staff. Restaurant in the hotel very good.

Review 122:The room was much smaller than others in which we stayed on this trip. The restaurant was disappointing.

Review 123:The staff was helpful and we appreciated the willingness to accommodate a change in plans that led us to leave two days early. The view from our room was wonderful.

Review 124:Apparently, they did not change the sheet on the bed for 3 nights.

Review 125:Excellent location, just a few minutes from St. Francis' Basilica. The view from the terrace was fantastic and indeed memorable. Really enjoyed breakfast at the terrace with cool breeze and the tweet of birds.

Review 126:A word of warning. I left my suitcase on the luggage rack, not realising that the vent at rear of the luggage shelf was from the minibar fridge below. Result one very hot suitcase and tens of euros of chocolate bought on our travels for gifts was ruined!

Review 127:Location near the Basilica end of town, very convenient, the view across the valley wonderul and waking to church bells below very special. Rooms very well appointed (except location of luggage shelf.) Loved the old world grandeur of the reception areas and the view from the terrace. Tour groups placed in seperate dining areas, large breakfast buffet. Good service. Would highly recommend.
