If you ask for internet connection specifically, the staff can provide you with a wifi router for your room (free of charge). Staff in general was very friendly and welcoming. We used Gifu as a base for day trips to Gero-onsen and Takayama, which were almost fully booked. I would recommend this because there are also more options for eating out and nightlife in Gifu as well as a very good supermarket to get supplies in between the hotel and the train station.
