Reviews for Ostia Antica Suite B&B

Review 1:The location: a walkable distance to the main attraction, the Ostia Antico archeological site, but a little bit far in fact. It's 20 mins to the site along the some noisy traffic streets.

Review 2:The staffs were very nice and kind? The breakfast was good, too! I like the bar downstairs. Even the owner asked a friend of his, who were just stopping by for a shot of espresso, asked him to give me a ride to the train station. It was very nice and kind of him! Grazie mille!!

Review 3:Don't judge it by first impression. Giovanni is great. Runs a very busy, family restaurant and bar. Good location for overnight near Fiumicino airports.

Review 4:Older residential area, heavy traffic, confusing area roads.....comes with the area

Review 5:Friendly helpful staff, very clean, well maintained room, close to Ostia Antica ruins.....1.5 km, can walk to it. Good value.

Review 6:We booked a triple which was extremely cramped. Bathroom reminded me of a boat head. Location was good for restaurants however the music from the one downstairs was dreadful and too loud. Breakfast was packaged pastries and cereal.

Review 7:Location - although taxi had a hard time finding it.

Review 8:Difficult to find, in residential area. No other facilities nearby.

Review 9:Rooms were very comfortable, clean and modern. Friendly staff. Pizza takeaway below rooms serves great pizzas (steaks not so good). Positioned close to airport with historic interest in local village.

Review 10:Giavanni, the owner, really great host and everyone in his team were great. Really convenient for the airport and beyond. Room was excellent. Certainly will be back. Big thanks to Giavanni

Review 11:I like it everything although I stay there for one night, while I had long brake between two flights. I arrange the taxi from and till airport also with the hotel. The price was ok. The people working there are all very nice and friendly.

Review 12:If I was going off the grid, I'd do so here tucked away in Ostia Antica with great food and super nice people who really understand hospitality and making the most out of the basic but comfortable and very clean rooms they offer. Despite the mid July heat the AC worked well. Still craving the porchetta (and wonderful local red wine) and can't wait to port in Civitavecchia or fly in/out of FCO as an excuse to visit again!

Review 13:No elevator, but I forgot about that quickly after getting to the room.

Review 14:The owners were very friendly and welcoming. The room was so modern, comfortable, and clean. We were so happy to finally have amazing air conditioning! A bus stop is available right down the road to get around town. Plus a bar (with gelato and coffee) and a pizzeria are available for purchases as they are connected to the B&B.

Review 15:Only 1.8 Km from the Ostia Scavi. Extremely clean, well appointed rooms. The convenience of the bar and the pizzeria downstairs are welcome at the end of the day after walking through the Ostia Archaeological park.

Review 16:The location is about 1km from town but there is a bus.

Review 17:Breakfast was simple but nice. The staff is GREAT! The restaurant is a good choice for dinner. There is a supermarket nearby. The room is spacious. Large TV. strong wifi.

Review 18:Nothing

Review 19:What looked like just a general store/pizzeria at first turned out to be a really wonderful bed and breakfast. Great staff and great food.

Review 20:Location is a bit difficult to find. Eventho our taxi driver already use gps to find.

Review 21:I like the cozyness of the B&B eventho most of them can not speak English only Giovanni can but they are very welcome and ver helpful to me and my kids. Plus the pizza OMG the best pizza ever. My kids still talking about that pizza up till now.

Review 22:A family run Albergo attached to a Bar/Pizzeria. Simple & Excellent Continental Breakfast and tasty Pizzas in the evening. A 20 minute walk to Ostia Antica ruins or a 7 minute walk to the bus stop. Enjoyed it all.

Review 23:When we arrived at the hotel, we were warmly greeted with an espresso, a glass of water and a chocolate. The room was very clean and the location was very convenient to Fiumicino airport. We weren't as bothered by the noise as other reviewers had mentioned. There were dogs barking outside, but it wasn't a problem with the windows closed.

Review 24:Not much to see in the immediate area, but location certainly worked in terms of proximity to airport and Rome, the beach and Ostia Antica's archaeological site.

Review 25:Very conveniently located to both airport and the beach. Newly renovated rooms were spotless, comfortable and well appointed. Loved having a mini fridge (with complementary bottled water) and the convenience of an excellent bar/pizza place in the building. Coffee and homemade croissants in the morning were delicious. Staff were quick to accommodate requests... But real highlight was excellent service from owners/operators Alessio and Giovanni. Most accommodating and personable. Cheerfully came to guide us in when we had a bit of difficulty finding the place... Enjoyed seeing a slice of local life, during breakfast in the café/bar. Wished we could have stayed more than one night!

Review 26:The distance from the centre of Ostia Antica The fire alarm that went off in the middle of the night

Review 27:The friendliness of the staff The cost The cleanliness of the rooms The quality of the bathroom The quietness/calm of the location

Review 28:Cleaning staff is only there until 1pm, so they do not have the ability to give you a late checkout even if you're willing to pay extra, unless the room you're in is vacant the following night. After about 10pm everything closes down and it's dark and the staff are gone. Though I bet if you needed to arrive after 10pm to check in, and called ahead, they'd accomodate you. It's in a residential neighborhood, so there aren't any other stores or restaurants in easy walking distance.

Review 29:When I called from the Ostia metro station to ask them how to get a cab, they just sent someone to get me by car, for free. For 25 euro they also have a shuttle van to Fiumicino airport, at the time of your choice. Hotel shares a building with a bar/pizzeria/cafe, the two business are run by brothers. Their father drives the shuttle. Everyone is welcoming and helpful and nice. Free wifi with no login required. Fridge in the room, good desk, and air conditioner. They sell bus/metro tickets at the bar/pizzeria downstairs, which is very convenient. A stop for one bus route is two blocks away, and a stop for a few other bus routes is five blocks away.

Review 30:Breakfast "only" fresh croissant with different filling/taste. (but maybe it was because I left already at 6:30 am)

Review 31:I only slept there to get the plane the next morning. Family owned B&B with Bakery and Pizzeria. Very friendly. Airport transfer: I think a very reasonable price. Organized by the owners. No problem no stress. Breakfast fresh croissants directly from the oven. Room was fine. Enough space. Hairdryer.

Review 32:We were disappointed in the breakfast. Since most of the reviews mentioned a nice breakfast we were quite disappointed. We were offered a cup of coffee and a croissant while standing at the coffee bar downstairs. The location was a bit hard to find.

Review 33:The owner Giovani was very helpful when we arrived. We had a problem with our luggage and he tried to help us solve the problem. The room and beds were comfortable and clean. The bathroom was quite adequate. We only stayed one night as we were leaving in the morning for NY. We were close to the airport and the taxi ride was reasonable.

Review 34:If traveling by train get a bus ticket at the metro station cafe. Walk across bridge and get on bus #11. To far to walk with luggage. Bus driver will tell you the stop...

Review 35:Staff was great. clean. decorated very nice. bar down stairs.

Review 36:Opted to stay closer to the airport, rather than downtown Rome, because we had an early am flight. Location was perfect, Rooms was beautiful and modern, Family was amazing! Gave us a ride to the train station and directions to catch the bus back - Made the trek into Rome a breeze. Breakfast in the AM was a nice addition. Thank you for making our last day in Rome that much more.

Review 37:Single beds (expected a double).

Review 38:Nice modern clean room (had balcony). Breakfast was good and you have the advantage of being able to eat downstairs at their takeaway business. Air conditioning was good. One of the better B&Bs I have stayed in and very good value for money. Nice, friendly, helpful people who run this B&B.

Review 39:The hotel is tucked away in a residential neighborhood and might be hard to find without a car. Even with directions, we had trouble finding it easily without a GPS. There is no reception for the hotel, you need to check in at the restaurant downstairs and the staff are not all well trained on how to assist hotel guests.

Review 40:The location was both very convenient to Fiumicino for our early morning flight (we had a rental car to return and didn't want to deal with morning traffic out of Rome) and to exploring Ostia Antica. We had a great dinner at the Trattoria Sora Margherita by the Castello di Giulio II. There is a restaurant below the hotel as well for those who just want to grab a bite and stay put. The quality of the rooms and cleanliness was above anything we had seen elsewhere in Italy even at higher prices. The owner and his brother were very helpful and nice.

Review 41:- Excellent service - Family-run & not commercialized - Modern room & amenities - Excellent and reasonably priced food for dinner or lunch - Generous, beautiful breakfast delivered to your room - Nice variety of wine for purchase - Shuttle service to the airport - Close proximity to the airport We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend this to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming place to stay!

Review 42:This is not their fault but to get from the airport to their Bed and Breakfast is less than 10 kilometers with little to no traffic but everybody at the airport wants to charge 30-40 Euro to get there. I took the bus from the airport to Ostia and then took an 8 Euro taxi to the bed and breakfast which turned out to be a great and fairly user friendly option.

Review 43:The people, the restaurant downstairs, the access to a bike, the air conditioning, the size of the shower, the little town of Ostia Antica and the ruins, Ride to airport at a considerable discount over regular taxis..

Review 44:Proximity to ancient Ostia. Ambience in residential suburb. Great helpfulness of staff esp. when transport got difficult late at night. Outstanding pizzeria.

Review 45:- we felt that we were in the middle of a residential neighbourhood

Review 46:- Giovanni's warm welcome and hospitality - we were provided with a generous and delicious breakfast

Review 47:The surrounding area was very suburban, and unkept. Ideal for one night to or from the airport, but probably not suitable for a longer stay.

Review 48:This B and B was not on the usual tourist strip, so the initial impression of the location was shabby suburban. However it was close and easy for the Fiumicino airport, if you have a car, and made for a low stress last drop off of the rental car. The room was excellent, and had everything we needed for a very comfortable sleep. Our favourite part was the bar and pizzeria downstairs which seemed to be a hub of the local suburb, and allowed us a chance for people watching in outer Rome, which was what we wanted as part of our Italy experience.

Review 49:Room was very small, balcony was not a true balcony, and distance to town of Ostia Antica was a little far, taking about 25 minutes to walk it. We arrived just before noon on Sunday, finding locked entrances with no one to greet us.

Review 50:Staff was outstanding, the food in restaurant was excellent, the room was very clean and bath facility was modern. They offer a convenient shuttle to airport at a reasonable price. There is a feeling of safety with a locked exterior gate.

Review 51:A bit far from the ruins and no footpath if you try to walk

Review 52:The staff. the room

Review 53:Very helpful owners! Went out of their way to help us in every way...travel, food, etc.

Review 54:staff were very friendly and helpful. the food was excellent too

Review 55:The friendly and helpful staff

Review 56:Worse hotel I've ever been at . Not recommended at all

Review 57:Hard to find. Use a GPS Tablet to track the location.

Review 58:Very modern, clean room with family run restaurant on premises.

Review 59:Couldnt find place since there was no name outside

Review 60:Very good food

Review 61:friendly stuff good restaurant close to the airport

Review 62:very nice

Review 63:Nothing!

Review 64:Warm welcome

Review 65:availability of the staff in time.

Review 66:1) homely atmosphere & friendly nature. 2) time management.

Review 67:Far from metro station, car is a must

Review 68:Friendly and supporting stuff, hotel located close to both-rome and lido, good when you travelling by car

Review 69:Nearby the airport, nearby the archeological park. Very, very kind the owner.

Review 70:The dogs barking in the area

Review 71:Very helpful and friendly staff, good location for ruins. Well decorated. Great food. Very good value.

Review 72:Everything

Review 73:Location Difficult with young kids Check-in and check-out confusing

Review 74:Clean Nice Staff Comfortable rooms Good breakfast

Review 75:The staff was friendly and made us feel like part of their family. By far, the best place out of all the accommodations during our 2 weeks stay in Italy. Very impressed and would stay there again. Highly recommended. The ground level restaurant was unbelievable. Great food and welcoming staff. If you are a fan of B&B's, then this is the place to be. Updated decor in rooms. Very clean and comfortable.

Review 76:A little off the beaten path but that actually added charm to the experience.

Review 77:Owner/Staff were friendly and very accommodating. Room was clean and comfortable. Food in attached Pizzeria was very good.

Review 78:The staff was very helpful, especially Georgia! She is a true asset and also makes a wonderful cappuccino. The room was very clean and comfortable. If we ever make it back to Ostia Antica, we will definitely stay here.

Review 79:Slightly scruffy outlook immediately in front if the B&B, but don't let that put you off.

Review 80:Great place with super friendly staff and a good value eating options 'on site'. Room very stylish. Whole experience was vg.

Review 81:Noisy, no insulation and could hear hallway noise and street noise. Was woken at 2 am by the doors and footsteps in hallway.

Review 82:Nice people, local atmosphere, mingle with the real neighborhood people.

Review 83:A little hard to find. Drove past it once.

Review 84:Great location to visit the ruins at Ostia Antica. Giovanni was a great host. The pizza was excellent and you get a great feel for the local culture.

Review 85:The location was brutal- we drove up in the dark and ended up getting lost literally 20 times. The Main Street you turn off from runs parallel to another one, and the two don't connect with each other-very frustrating! But that's not their fault. Just make sure to not come at night and/or have REALLY good directions.

Review 86:The room was nice and a good size, with little purple lights above the bed, which was a nice touch. The shower was good, and the owner was very nice, considering we got him out of bed to let us in. The breakfast was yummy, too.

Review 87:Had to leave

Review 88:John is extremely professional yet he is warm and accommodating to hisguest. We had dinner at the ristorante and the food is good and he giveslarge portions. The location is perfectly suited for any flights out ofFiumicino airport . it took me only 15 minutes from his doorstep. To theEuropcar return in the terminal. Connie from college station Texas

Review 89:Giovanni and Alessio were the best. They were thoughtful, considerate, helpful, accommodating and they made my stay very pleasant. The rooms were recently remodeled and were spotlessly clean. I would definitely stay here again.

Review 90:I cannot think of anything!!

Review 91:Owners and staff very helpful and friendly and spoke good English. Room was very clean and comfortable and the food was great.

Review 92:John, his mother, and brother run this ristorante and bed and breakfast. The whole family is very kind and is very willing to please their guests. My sister and I got lost so I phoned John and he said not to worry and he came to us and we followed him to his location. The pizza is excellent and the Illy coffee is superb.

Review 93:nothing

Review 94:Giovanni and his family made us feel right at home the minute we entered the property. The location is a perfect stopping point to and from the airport and has a great neighborhood feel. My wife and I ate at the restaurant both nights we stayed and the quality of the food was excellent. Be sure to visit the ruins at Ostia Antica, they are one of the best sites we have visited in Italy.

Review 95:Only negative is the hotel is a 15 minute walk to the nearest train station to go to Rome. Taxis are unavailable and the bus Timings are unreliable.

Review 96:Giovanni and team were excellent. Loved our stay. Would definitely stay there again if we are in the area.

Review 97:The taxi driver had trouble to find this place. But if you contact the B&B first and ask for the pickup service then it will be so easy and cost less too.

Review 98:The manager and owner is wonderful, very nice and helpful. Do use the pickup service they provided if you fly in FCO. I chose this B&B to wait for my daughters flying in and visiting the ruins of the Roman port of Ostia before heading to Sicilly. This place serves my goals perfectly and Giovanni made my stay a very easy and enjoyable one. I had lunch, dinner and breakfast at this B&B and I enjoyed so much. The home made food they served is not fancy but great. The price is very reasonable. I love this B&B a lot.

Review 99:Breakfast is just coffee and a croissant The smell of smoke from the pizzaria downstairs in the room was terrible, but after 2200 this stopped

Review 100:Quiet locatian (after 2200) when the popular pizzaria closes), nice room

Review 101:The room was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed inc free WIFI. The staff are brilliant and extremely helpful they make you feel very welcome. The local bus stop in 2 mins away to take you to the ruins of Ostia Antica.

Review 102:Run by a mum and her 2 sons who cannot do enough for you. A very functional accommodation, had everything we needed for our trip to Rome. You can get the train in to central Rome, so no parking worries etc.

Review 103:Joviani took great care of us. Very Clean and Modern suite hisrestaurant was downstairs, we had an excellent meal and breakfast wasanytime you wanted it. He recommended and arranged transport for us to alocal restaurant in Ostia Antica that we would of never found. Anawesome dinner for our last night and anniversary. He also arrangedtransfers early in the morning to Fumichino You cant go wrong with hisplace Great hospitality!!!! Two thumbs up You cant go wrong here

Review 104:We stayed here for six nights. The room was very nice, spacious and clean.Having the Pizza cafe downstairs was a real bonus as we could enjoy our meal with a nice bottle of wine and then just walk upstairs! We caught the bus and train into Rome several times. No english speaking channels on the T.V,but it was not an issue as we were out and about each day or used our I Pad. We would recommend this B and B ,even though the streets around it are full of huge potholes and the area looks a little dingy. Give it a go,the owners were so nice and helpful. They tried very hard and nothing was too much trouble for them.

Review 105:Giovanni was so friendly and helpful and made me feel completely at home. I will definitely return. Lovely clean, modern room with very comfy bed. Very good value for money.

Review 106:Place is a bit strange... looks like a suburbs. The road is terrible - you are forced to drive the holes around, as a slalom...

Review 107:Staff is lovely and cheerfull.

Review 108:Even the pouring rain during our stay couldn't dampen the excellent stay in Ostia.

Review 109:The hospitality at the B & B made all the difference in our stay in Ostia Astica. Located near the bus route and train station made getting around convenient. And the B & B arranged for private taxi service at nominal cost to the Lido and to airport. Pizza, espresso, wine, and bakery goods available for us all day. Who could ask for more?

Review 110:This was a great place to stay for our visit to Rome --just a short train ride away. The B&B is next to an amazing pizza place owned by the same family. Meals here were top notch. Our room was very clean with a large, comfortable bed with clean crisp sheets. The spotless ensuite bathroom had a nice shower with heated towel rack. A/C worked well as did the wifi and our unit was extremely quiet. The breakfast included was amazing --best croissants ever and made in house. Off street parking was safe and secure. Staff was amazing. We'd definitely return.

Review 111:The traffic in Ostia Antica was awful! The B&B is in a residential area, but you can't avoid the busy roads to get there.

Review 112:This B&B is close to the airport, and the owner was friendly. The B&B was small, but very modern and clean. They offered free wifi, when some hotels we stayed in didn't. It is located above a restaurant, so we were able to get our meals there without driving. The croissants at breakfast (included) were excellent!

Review 113:Giovanni and staff helped us make a visit to the ruins of Ostia Antica within the limitations of our flight schedule in and out of Rome airport. We have almost no Italian, but Giovanni made it all possible for us. Also, the B and B is a very nice, modern small hotel with a great pizzeria and bar downstairs.

Review 114:Leaving:-(

Review 115:From the time we entered the property we were impressed with thecleanliness, the room was immaculate and updated The staff was veryfriendly,we enjoyed the resto downstairs the pizza is to die for and theemployees were very courteous We had to return our car to the airportthe day before we left The owner drove to the airport in his car as wefollowed and them brought us back to the hotel We had an amazing 4 daysOstia Antica will be the only place when in rome We simply love itLynn pope

Review 116:Location is not convenient to transportation, bus stop is a bit of awalk. Residential area without much around there.

Review 117:The staff are friendly. The room is clean and modern. The cost isreasonable. The pizzaria downstairs is good. Shuttle to Fiumicino for 20euros when I wanted to go.

Review 118:Thought it was located much closer to the beach when in fact it is about10 km away. You have to drive to get to restaurants.Otherwis very goodvalue for money

Review 119:Clean modern room.Decent European breakfast(good coffee ok juiceand sweet bread).Though on top of local bar can't say any noisekept us awake.

Review 120:Staff - wonderful and warm. Room was very comfortable. Easy train ride into Rome (we had a car, so the 1-2 mile trip to the train station was easy).
