Reviews for Club Hotel Ancora

Review 1:We stayed in the main house where it was a bit noisy in the evenings. The blonde girl in the breakfast area was very very rude and unpolite towards people. (All the other members of the staff were very nice and helpful!)

Review 2:Very nice room with a very nice balcony and stunning views.

Review 3:Asked to pay and extra fee for use of 'Club Ancora'. If you are not using the sunbeds then I think it is not worth it. I do believe the room price is enough and should include this service. Had a lovely buffet dinner one night but had to go to the bar to get coffee, no coffee table service in the evenings, this is a poor service, if you can bring wine you can bring coffee. A small gripe but I would have given a better score otherwise.

Review 4:Our room was wonderful decorated with a large comfortable balcony, good bed. A private walkway under the road to get to the beach and pool. Gorgeous spacious grounds to relax in!

Review 5:We chose the property for the swimming pool, but it is available at an extra cost per day and it is not really located at the property but more in the sea front

Review 6:Slow wi-fi Dinner taste was not the appropriate price

Review 7:Beautiful view, very good breakfast, very clean, beautiful interior.Overall - a very good hotel . Be sure to return.

Review 8:Obligatory club card for 30 eur per person (over 4years), you getnothing for it, but it is a must to purchase it. It is very difficult tocommunicate in English, all animation programmes are only for Italians, you may feel like a secondary type of guest, because of this. 2 sunbedsand a sunbrella cost 25 eur daily!! Wifi works only, max 5 metres fromthe reception. We booked 2 rooms in jan for 3 adults. I got aconfirmation in email from one of the employees to get the rooms next toeach other with a sea view. The rooms were not even in the same buildingand they did not really care that I was alone away from my family for aweek. I could survive without a view, however it was also promised, butbeing separated was not a fun, neither the negligence that they showed.

Review 9:Nice garden and dining area

Review 10:We stayed in the superior room, the room is very small.

Review 11:The hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful. The buffet dinner in the restaurant is definitely a plus.

Review 12:wifi only in reception not all the rooms are like the photos the staff in the breakfast (very lasy and not very kind)

Review 13:hotel gardens; location; the restaurant ancora at the beach is amazing.. the hotel gives 10% discount vouchers!!)

Review 14:Only buffet meals available at narrow time interval (1hr at dinner time) with no other food option, makes it difficult with young children. 40% staff not cheery/helpful. Basic rooms, not plush.

Review 15:Attractive grounds Children's play area Outdoor lounge area Good buffet breakfast

Review 16:The food and the buffet setup. This was our first ( and last) meal at a buffet. We like an regular restaurant more to avoid the "diving gulls" approach many had at the buffet. We waited a short while to avoid the crowd with empty plates at the serving table as a result.

Review 17:Relatively close to La Pelosa. Free access to the club beach that was not so crowded as la Pelosa. Free bikes to use.

Review 18:It was our first night in Sardegna, after flying to Alghero. We wanted a good start of the holiday, before going to Olbia, so we booked a night at hotel Ancora, supposedly, a very good hotel close to La Pelosa beach. The room was nothing like the pictures. Felt like being in the attic - climbing stairs in order to get to the bed, climbing other stairs in order to see the view, which was actually from the roof, not from the room. The wifi was available in public areas only which was not ok considering we paid 135 EUR for the room. Another thing that I disliked was the fact that we had to pay a resort tax of ~ 4 EUR/person so we can use the pool, private beach and other facilities. We stayed there for one day (and night) only, so we didn't have time to go to the pool. The private beach was very small and we wanted to see La Pelosa so we went directly there. The thing is that the staff doesn't mention that La Pelosa is so close and reachable and you feel compelled to buy that resort card in order to use their private beach. Don't do it and try to get to La Pelosa which is far more beautiful. We stayed in other hotels in Sardegna and paid much less and the conditions were much better than what we had at Hotel Ancora. For instance, Jazz Hotel in Olbia was in the same price range and the experience at Jazz was absolutely excellent. Definitely, hotel Ancora is not offering proper conditions for the prices they ask. Try to avoid it if you can.

Review 19:The staff was friendly enough. The breakfast was ok.

Review 20:Staff (the lady with glasses) was very unfriendly and not willing to help. They were not helping on the basic informations to be given during check in. We had to ask them everything.

Review 21:Location, garden area and views were beautiful. Shuttle bus service to La pelosa beach is there or you can even walk in 10 mins

Review 22:When we arrived we were told that the guest that had our room before us had a "late" check out because of sickness. Not what you want to get information about, that destroyed our time. And don´t go for the buffet, the food is empty in 20 minutes.....

Review 23:Location

Review 24:Our room was above the reception..

Review 25:Super Location with own beach. Nice garden for all guests. Relaxed ambiance.

Review 26:WiFi

Review 27:garden with see view

Review 28:There was no ping pong table

Review 29:The room was really nice, although very small The garden is amazing, breakfast really good.

Review 30:The terrible music during the dinner. The Club card we had to pay for, even thought we did not use the facilities.

Review 31:Small TV and no Wi Fi in room

Review 32:Location is perfect , the territory of the hotel is stunning , very cosy , rooms are clean with nice roof terrace , bathroom was new with everything needed

Review 33:Minor issues: - Small fridge in the room - Bathroom was a bit too small (not easy to open the door from inside)

Review 34:- Rooms and cleaniness - walking distance (10mins) to the "La Pelosa" beach - wonderful garden with couches and tables, with an amazing sea view - Good breakfast and decent dinner (you can also book it there on a daily basis - 25€)

Review 35:Unfortunately our stay collided w two big tour groups which occupied all the better rooms. Eventhough we paid extra for a Superior Room w seaview but we were only given the one room left where it was facing the hotel entrance and common areas; noisy most of the time. And with two large groups we were left w no food at the breakfast buffet when we got there at 9:30a (supposed to end at 10a)! I think the the extra money we spent on the upgrade was very much in vain and unnecessary.

Review 36:Location is nice and very conveniently located by the beach. If you have a car, u can explore this small but charming fisherman's town. It has a very well groom lawn where kids could play and adults can chill or sunbathing.

Review 37:Poor attitude of staff, particularly in the restaurant. The staff are there to assist us, not act like we are a hindrance to their relaxation while getting paid a salary they obviously don't deserve. Shuttle times to the beach are quite poor. Resort fee that is charged is too much and the benefits offered are very questionable. Dated design and decor needs updating. Evening "entertainment" was noisy, akin to a cheap cabaret. Wouldn't stay here again.

Review 38:Little bit simply interior of the room, but nice reconstructed bathroom. Exterior of the hotel was amazing, great terrace and view of the ocean etc. Rich and tasteful breakfast. Very helpful staff of the hotel with good knowledge of english. In the top season you have to buy hotel club card (we pay 26 euro/room) but it is worth the money - you got shuttle bus to the beach, bicycles, whole-day program for the hotel guests etc.

Review 39:The dinner buffet was served a bit late for us (at 8 PM). Our children, 3 and 5 years old, usually have dinner much earlier and were really tired before dinner.

Review 40:We liked everything about the hotel. Worth mentioning is the nice location of the hotel with its beautiful view of the ocean. We found the beach very easy to access via the hotel's own garden walkway. It was also very conventient to have our own sun beds reserved for us by the beach, which was offered for free when staying in a superior room. The dinner buffets were excellent and offered a variety of the best Italian dishes with the possibility to order grilled dishes directly from the grill.

Review 41:The hotel pool was at the beach, rather than in the grounds which seemed a little odd, also there is a 10 euro charge for hotel sunbeds on the beach (although this is a discount from 20 euros otherwise)

Review 42:The hotel was set in beautiful gardens, with an amazing view down to the turquoise sea. The reception staff were very helpful. We paid 25 euros for the evening buffet which was lovely. Bikes can be hired for free, although we didn't actually take them out. It is only a short walk down the hotel path to the beach, and the hotel put on a mini bus to the more beautiful Pelosa beach about 5 minutes away

Review 43:They served dinner tooo late!

Review 44:It was abosolutely amazing...was better than exspected. The lovely piped music in the relaxing area.the breakfast and eve meal was gorgeous

Review 45:The room we had was small and oldish, not appropriate and safe for toddlers and young children (with stairs from entrance to room and from room to terrace - which was not childproofed with bars, a child could easily fall.

Review 46:Animation team

Review 47:Our room was very dark and there were lots of steps to contend with (leading up to the room and in the room itself), which wasn't great for us given I'm pregnant and my partner had a bad knee at the time. Otherwise it would've been fine. We have been charged a lot more to stay in far inferior settings (Hotel Ancora is beautiful) but having to pay 8Euro a day for an umbrella/lounger on the beach for some reason seemed a bit much. If you'd prefer not to pay that, the hotel provides a shuttle bus to another nearby beach free of charge. They also provide free bikes. On the whole, a really lovely experience, one of the few places we'd go back to.

Review 48:The setting was beautiful, with a short stroll to the pool and beach/harbour. The entertainment at night was good for kids and the staff were very friendly and engaging. The buffet for dinner was fabulous, with a wide array of food catering for every taste. You had a choice of starters, with a range of hot meals for your main or you could have your choice of meat or fish BBQ'd outside. And the dessert table was something to behold.

Review 49:You need accurate driving directions to find the Hotel --also themountain roads getting to the area are very narrow and nerve racking butif you flew into a area airport it would solve that

Review 50:We liked everything about the Resort - excellent rooms , location, gooddinner buffets -you must take their mini bus to the famous beach -spent6 hours there - wow

Review 51:On top of the booking.com price we had to pay some Euros extra to become member which is obligatory! The pool for which you need your member card does not belong to the hotel and can only be reached after a 5 minutes walk. For being able to sit on a chair, an additional amount of 10 EUR was asked!

Review 52:Nice set up. Green, spacious. Clean rooms. Beautiful outdoor breakfast area. We had a great room with roof terrace with great view of the beach and sea.

Review 53:The reception stuff was very unhelpful and didn't give us good impression, that was a bit disappointing

Review 54:Excellence location, good selection of food for lunch and breakfast

Review 55:We loved this hotel because the staff were very friendly and we got a beautiful room with a sea view. The room was on three floors which made it special. There were a huge garden and backyard, private beach and a pool. La Pelosa beach was close, about 15 minutes walking distance from the hotel. The breakfast was amazing, there were bread, pastries, toasts, marmelades, jams, nutella, peanut butter, eggs, cereals, fruits, cheese, ham, juices, cookies, cakes, croissants and of course you get cappuccino, espresso or any coffee. We can recommend this hotel warmly.
