Reviews for Sudur-Bár Guesthouse

Review 1:Great location - right across the bay from Kirkjufell! We had a room with private bathroom and loved it. The family was friendly and attentive, the breakfast was delicious and plentiful and we had a great view of the northern lights from our cabin- what else do you need?

Review 2:The location was simply excellent. Our hosts (owners) were very humble and great people. The rooms are very well maintained and have a homely feeling. The breakfast buffet was very delicious.

Review 3:There was no kitchen. And there are only two cafes in the town 10 km away.

Review 4:Nice view from the terrace where breakfast is served. Everything is clean - room and bathroom.

Review 5:Loved the location, in the country but not too far from town; beautiful view. Very pleasant and accommodating host. View from the breakfast room was lovely.

Review 6:there is an inner door between the cabins,so you can hear the neighbors .

Review 7:Wonderful place to stay! We spent the night at the cabin with an amazing view of the mountains/volcano & ocean. Nice breakfast and staff, everything was clean and the shower/toilet absolutely new.

Review 8:No. This guesthouse is perfect!

Review 9:The host is nice and friendly. The guesthouse is clean and beautiful. I saw the northern light through the window of my room. I did not want to leave this beautiful place!

Review 10:The location is simply stunning - I don't think we've ever had a better view at breakfast. Owners were helpful and friendly with excellent English. The room we had was big, clean and comfortable; although no kettle was provided, but hot water was often available in the breakfast room. Overall, a superb place to stay.

Review 11:Some of the other guests spent a long time in the bathroom, which was hardly the fault of the guesthouse... but still annoying.

Review 12:Lovely owners and gorgeous setting! Great hike up to a little waterfall nearby. Short drive to Grundarfjordur.

Review 13:The breakfast was a little smaller than average. Our door did not lock, unless we were inside the room. Low shower water pressure.

Review 14:The guesthouse is on a quiet horsefarm with an amazing view of the fjord, especially from the breakfast sun room. The room was clean and basic. The shared bathroom worked well. The sink in our room was nice.

Review 15:No sofa in lounge area

Review 16:The location is fab - beautiful views out to see - even saw a group of dolphins swimming by. Rural location - fine for us because we had a car.

Review 17:We have our own cottage with a gorgeous view both at the back and front, no light population so that we have an amazing night to see the northern lights.the staff is kind. Cottage is well equipped and furnished.

Review 18:Nothing

Review 19:Friendly owners who offered us hot water, refreshments and use of the dining room whenever we needed them. Easy to sort out our stay/ extend our time. Great views and lovely and warm!

Review 20:There are a few flies in the house, but they are slow and easy to kill ;) Overall, we would still highly recommend staying in this guesthouse.

Review 21:The guesthouse was wonderful and quiet. The host was friendly and breakfast was great. The location was a little isolated and that was a plus for us. It also served as a good base to drive around the peninsula from.

Review 22:The only downside with location was not having any stores nearby. The weather for driving wasn't great and there wasn't anywhere close enough to duck out for supplies.

Review 23:While it was a bit of an effort to get there with all the snow on the roads, it was comfortable & relaxing. We really felt like we were on holiday and the cottage was a great size for 3 of us

Review 24:far from the town (but it's good for northern light and good scenary)

Review 25:1.small and lovely guesthouse , feel like home 2. Nice owner 3. good view at dining room

Review 26:Great view of Kirkjufell from cottage & breakfast room. Photographed Northern lights - could sit in the warm & wait until the aurora appeared - what more could you ask for. Exceeded Expectations in every department

Review 27:We stayed in the cottage and loved it! Marteinn was an excellent host, breakfast was great, and the cottage was clean, warm and cozy. We couldn't have made a better choice for a stay in this area.

Review 28:It was a little too cold for our liking, we had all the radiators turned up and still felt a bit chilly. There's a TV and DVD player but I think there was one or two channels and no DVD's. If you're cooking your own food, there isn't a microwave but we managed with the stove top.

Review 29:The views are simply stunning here. We even got treated to a beautiful display of the Northern Lights here. Good breakfast. We were in the cottage, which has 2 twin rooms, a kitchenette, a lounge and a bathroom. Since it was off-peak, we had the whole cottage to ourselves.

Review 30:Bed hard. Lots of condensation on window meant that night was a bit stuffy and humid.Thin walls. Small tables in breakfast room meant that guests tended to sit separately.

Review 31:Well situated and very nice surroundings. Kind and courteous host. Good value for money.

Review 32:This is just a great place to stay in, it's not close to the town, but the location is beautiful, the view is just amazing, you can see the sunset over the cliff and fjord

Review 33:Small room Poor breakfast No possibilities of supper on the spot (have to take the car again) Not much talking coming from the staff

Review 34:Beautiful location with very nice views

Review 35:A few flies in our room on arrival. The décor in our room was not really to our taste.

Review 36:We stayed in the main house and had a lovely spacious room with en suite toilet and shower. There was plenty of room for our suitcases along with a wardrobe, desk and chair. The guesthouse was really clean and tidy. The beds were very comfortable. The guesthouse is in a beautiful peaceful location with amazing views. The conservatory where breakfast is served is bright, airy and has wonderful views. Breakfast was yummy. We would definitely stay there again as we felt very relaxed, comfortable and at home there.

Review 103:... the guest in the room next to mine had an awful really loud snoring that kept me up all night!!! Was so desperate that knocked his door but, still, couldn't wake him up. Maybe soundproofing could be improved?

Review 104:The room was nice and comfy, the views were great, the breakfast was very good, but...

Review 105:Kitchenette quite small; basin and cooking hobs next to each other on the bench. Wi Fi not good at cottage but OK near main building.
