Reviews for Ostia Antica Park Hotel & Spa
Review 1:There is nothing bad about the hotel itself but if you don't rent a car it will be not really comfortable to get there with luggage from the train station as there are no sidewalk on the street. Take shuttle.
Review 2:The listing was extremely misleading. The location isn't in the bestarea ( for a single girl traveling alone), their isn't wifi in therooms which the listing said there was, it was out of Rome and moresolocated in the shady outskirts therefore I had to wait for a bus to getto the train station to get to the city. All stops which of course, weren't in the best of areas. At one point I ended up in the ghettowhere actual military men were positioned throughout the neighborhoodwith guns...All of this just to get to rome! The listing said the hotelhad an airport shuttle, forgetting to mention it only shuttles a fewtimes a day, none of those times being anywhere from the evening tillearly morning. With that being, I ended up having to hitch a ride with anice Italian couple because I had no other way to get to airport. Notransportation services in the night or early morning! Again , this wasan airport hotel... Implying the services they provided are toaccommodate travelers through Fuimicino Airport. If anything they mademy travels harder.
Review 3:The receptionist was very helpful when I first arrived. Very friendlyand welcoming.
Review 4:Staff and facilities were great. Location was more removed from city center than anticipated. Public transportation necessary (and available) to get back and forth.
Review 5:So nice a place. I will come back when I make my trips to Italy from Saint Raphael. Very nice place to stop for the night and if you want, it´s very easy to walk to the beach ...
Review 6:Unhelpful night staff who should have come outside to help me when there was a problem with the taxi driver overcharging for a pre arranged price and who then threw my luggage around and threatened to call the police when I offered him the agreed price of 25 euros! He wanted 40 euros and finally settled aggressively for 30 euros . Also knowing I was arriving on my own around 20.30 pm the hotel weren't prepared to fetch me from Fiumicino airport. This resulted in 1 1/2 hours delay for me late at night and huge problems with taxis refusing to take me to Ostia as the fare was too little. They wanted 50 euro fares to Rome only! Ricardo was very helpful next day.
Review 7:Bread at breakfast was very dry. Bathroom was clean but had an odure of urine and had black mold in the shower everywhere. Prices at the bar are high (beer starts at 4 euro for 0,33cl)
Review 8:Location is fine if you want be close to the airport. Trips into to Rome can be made by bus and Metro within the hour. Fresh coffee at breakfast was nice Staff is very friendly
Review 9:Noisy road which can be a problem if you have a room near to the road.
Review 10:The hotel is easy to find on the main road into Ostica and not far from the archeological site. There is an off road hotel car park. Some rooms have large balconies and it is better to be away from the road. The evening meal was excellent and the breakfast varied.
Review 11:Bed was very hard and not enough pillows for us. 2 on the bed ( very hard) and one spare. It was too late at night and we were too tired to try and sort this out. The shower had a curtain which was too short so the bathroom flooded somewhat and the breakfast consisted of processed food from packets and tinned friut not a fresh bit of food. Even the coffee was vending machine standard. There was a lot of food provided but of very low quality.
Review 12:Once we had arrived (which without a car was a touch hard and involved a bus ride from the station followed by a walk along a busy main road dragging our cases where there is no pavement or footpath) the hotel was perfectly pleasant for an overnight preflight stop over. The restaurant was not bad and served our needs as we were tired after a very long day up from Sorrento via Herculaneum!
Review 13:Tired decor
Review 14:This was a last minute booking and it was great. The hotel is 15 min drive from Fiumicino airport. The reception staff was very helpful and sold us bus and metro/train tickets to Rome just 1,50 euros each, which takes and in about 45 minutes total. Overall Ostia Antica Park Hotel is good value for money, I was very impressed with this hotel and will return!
Review 15:Not the most conveniently located. We know the area well and always have a hire car, which for this hotel is essential.
Review 16:Friendly staff, cleanliness and very reasonably priced. Value for money excellent
Review 17:The only thing that really needs improvement is the WiFi. I was on the 2nd floor (3rd floor to N. Americans) and the signal was too weak to access the internet (I travel with a USB Internet key, so it did not matter to me). WiFi is available and working in the public areas.
Review 18:The hotel is within 15 to 20 minutes walking distance from the Ostia Antica forum site (closed on Mondays) and an easy 20 minutes or less drive to the airport. If anyone decides to walk to the Ostia Antica site, they will have to be careful during the first 200 meters, as there are no sidewalks on that portion of the road. I reserved the double room, which includes a balcony. I am a smoker and it allowed me to sit outside, have a drink, work on my laptop and enjoy my cigarette (Non-smokers will frown at this, but with the balcony door closed, the smoking was done outside without affecting the room. This was a feature I appreciated, because it provided me with the freedom to enjoy my lifestyle, which is my own personal right in this world). The breakfast was ample and generous (the scrambled eggs were somewhat "rubbery" but the large variety of food offered made up for that). Very nice garden and pool area.
Review 19:I find ridiculous charging 5 Eur/ day for using the pool. It was a medium-size pool, nothing special.
Review 20:spacy comfortable room with a large balcony. Godd breakfast with a wide selection.
Review 21:The 3-bed room, although clean and pretty, was very small - this was compensated for by nice lobby & pool area. One of the 3 beds was very lumpy. Wifi not fast. Breakfast buffet was heavy on sweets. The public commute in to Rome worked OK (60-80 min one way), but was crowded and hot. Our 9-year old endured, but he didn't much like it. Staying in this peaceful village rather than in the hustle of Rome was a good choice for us though. If the hotel had been in the center of the village, that would have been perfect. No decent snacks in the bar.
Review 22:Delightful pool area with many options to lie or sit in the sun or shade or in the bar or in the pleasant lobby. Perfect for the too hot afternoon hours, after our morning sight-seeing trips. Kid friendly without being kid dominated. Extremely helpful and attentive staff; all spoke good English. The village was pleasant and peaceful with several enjoyable restaurants in ancient settings, and the Ostia ruin city is breathtaking. 1 km walk or bus ride from hotel to village center. Great value.
Review 23:This establishment is not so close to Fiumicino airport and not any goodfor an overnight stay. Distance as shown on Booking site is as CrowFlies! Cheaper to taxi it to Rome if not relying on so called airportshuffle. Photos on booking site do not reflect the true state ofshabbiniess, but then again, it is budget. Front desk Staff was notunhelpful, just not very proactive and not thorough in information.Probably ok for low cost holiday of a few days sitting by a pool. Publictransport into Rome is unreliable, tedious and timeconsuming (not hotelsfault given location)
Review 24:Unfortunately we just stayed for one night, however, we felt very comfortable. The staff was very nice and qualified. Furthermore, the breakfast was awesome. A very good start for an upcoming exciting and exhausting day.
Review 25:Hotel felt old. Decor tired. The town was no where I'd ever want to go again. No place to walk or eat. Ostia Antica is a dump! Lido di Ostia isn't much better.
Review 26:Close to the airport Upon arrival tha air in our room didn't work. They moved us to a new room right away.
Review 27:We wanted to have a romantic weekend. We asked for a large double bed, they put two beds together that is not a double bed. So you could feel the middle, also the bed was 1.80. I am 1.91! There mild dew around the bathtub. The sauna was not cosy at all! There was not a good private relax room. Jacuzzi not working. No English speaking staff at the restaurant so communication was impossible! It goes on...
Review 28:It is not far from the airport and the seaside.
Review 29:Not enough loungers by the pool. So didnt end up swimming. It was incredibly hot and unfortunately the a/c was not very effective.
Review 30:Loved how close the hotel is from Rome and Ostea. Also nice and close to airport !(fcu) Breakfast was great and included in our price. The staff were very friendly but didnt seem to have too much time to answer questions on surrounding area !! Still very pleasant though.
Review 31:the reception officer tried to give me smoking rooms and ask me that there aren't other room and when I refused to receiv these rooms give me other rooms The beds is uncomfortable that made a stiff in my body The air condition not active and no ventilation in the rooms no 112 &113 The bath room very bad
Review 32:Pool
Review 33:No wifi in the rooms. AC did not work really well. It was hot but, never got to the thermostat set temperature.
Review 34:Free parking, small fridge in the room. Great swimming pool with nice deck chairs and pool bar attendant. Close to archeological site Ostia Antica. Also about 15 minute drive to airport. Good restaurant next door. Quiet location. Quick drive to metro line to get into Rome sights avoiding traffic, parking and headache. Helpful staff!
Review 35:Wifi didn't always work in our room. The space for three people matched the space for one person. The air conditioning was weak and the temps were unseasonably warm. Only ONE of your staff members at the desk was standoffish. A suggestion? Train your folks to smile and at least greet people when they approach. I'm sorry to say, this man acted bothered most if the time.
Review 36:The pool and outside bar area, Danielle, the spa and massage, the breakfast, the assistance with transportation. I'd recommend it!
Review 37:Poo in the pool, staff were aware and didn't inform anyone currently around the pool, took them 4 hours to attempt to remove it, did not seem bothered at all. A young girl stepped into the pool before anyone who had worked out what was going on could tell her. Before booking weren't informed that the spa was not open on this day which was the main reason we booked. When we tried to book for the morning after we're continually fobbed off/ told to come back later until we were told that there were no spaces left
Review 38:The "free wi-fi" is only in the lobby and not available at all in the rooms. The triple room was really too small for three to stay for more than one night. The airport shuttle doesn't run from 10am to 6pm. Huh?!?
Review 39:Except for "Don't Give a Damn Thomas" the staff was exceptional. The lovely pool was a highlight of our stay. Breakfast was so-so but the coffee was very good! For the price it was a good value.
Review 40:The hotel promised us before our comming that the transfer from hotel to airport for will be max 35 Eur. Where we come was it 40 Euro! Sure without bill. Don´t belive what the hotel say before your come. Wifi only in Lobby.
Review 41:it is nice hotel, close to airport with the pool.
Review 42:The aircon in our room was not working, after a long trip in a campervan we were looking forward to some cool evening that we didnt get.... Apart form that!! All good :)
Review 43:The helpful staff and food
Review 44:It was difficult to get to as we were driving. The roads to the hotel were abit complicating even though it was on a main road.
Review 45:Hotel was comfortable and clean with friendly staff
Review 46:No air conditioning. Limited dinner menu - very few seafood dishes.
Review 47:Staff was fantastic. Restaurant in hotel. Proximity to airport. Very clean and sanitary. All requests were met and satisfied even the request for a 4:30 am taxi. Great rate.
Review 48:Did not like the idea of having to pay for using the pool.
Review 49:25 minutes away from the Vatican city. The staff was very friendly 10 minute drive from a variety of restaurants
Review 50:The only way to get there was trough a taxi which cost 40 EUR, because the do not have a regular shuttle service (which by the way they charge 15 EUR.
Review 51:Clean room with helpful staff. It was very close to Roman ruins and the airport. Our room had a nice balcony where we had wine and watched the world go by. Close to great food.
Review 52:No transportation after 8pm, so we always have to take a taxi, which cost a lot. Bear in mind you have to find a taxi from the airport if you arrive late evening.
Review 53:Staffs are friendly and helpful!
Review 54:Room was not as pictured and we ended up with something dated and cramped. Hot tub was cold and we were told to just wait for it to warm up? It never did. No wi-fi except in lobby and restaurant. Overall not a great experience, but since I only payed 70 euros I wasn't too upset. Badly represented property.
Review 55:The restaurant next door, "Al Bajniero" is great!
Review 56:No wifi in the room at all, only in the lobby. Staff was not very helpful. Didn't pick up phones, didn't cater to the guest when asked to, not helpful when lobby wifi stopped working. Many guests left angry to change hotels while I was there. Location also very far away from fumicino airport and shuttle is unreliable and costs 15€ per trip. Cost till downtown Rome was 50€ one way. To take public transportation you need to take bus and change three times till downtown. Overall totally not worth the money! Don't stay here if you can avoid it!!!
Review 57:Cleanliness of the room, breakfast was very basic but not too bad.
Review 58:The room was "tired" and the bathroom / shower mould on the tiles etc. The location is not good for the Airport. Shuttle service is a disaster area, limited times, seats and expensive. Waited 45 & 70 minutes for the service from the airport.
Review 59:Firm bed, reasonable breakfast. Local bus into Ostia, 20-25 minutes depending on traffic.
Review 60:Fron desk staff attitude, bed is very uncomfortable, room is very noisy from nearby street traffic, AC does not work.
Review 61:The only thing I liked about this hotel is the backyard patio and availability of parking
Review 62:-Room 120 was small with no place to sit except on the bed. -The bed was a cot with a 5 inch mattress. I could not sleep and spent several hours in the lobby in the early morning hours. -All beds are the same throughout the hotel according to the desk clerk. -Your averages are way overblown for this property. -Breakfast war above average - Even if I were offered a night free of charge, I would not stay --I believe that sums up my recommendation. -BTW I am a person who tends to rate hotels and restaurants on the high side.
Review 63:-breakfast
Review 64:Be aware you will need a car for comfort and easy access to town 1 Km or Rome 20km..but a bus runs past the door ..rather fast noisy road.
Review 65:Staff were very good..Ricardo, Jan, Tom and Daphne are simply delightful staff ..spoke english and helpful. delightful breakfast. Dinner available. Spa ..when its working. Pool if hot weather ..
Review 66:It is too far for visiting major sites in Rome central. Although the archaeological site is within a 20 minute walk of the hotel, it involves walking on the main road, which can be fairly busy & is quite narrow.
Review 67:Staff was very helpful & the location of the hotel is reasonably close to the Ostia Antica archaeological site.
Review 68:No hot water when we woke up at 3 am to go to the airport! Wifi didn't work in bedrooms.
