Reviews for Falkensteiner Hotel Am Schottenfeld

Review 1:Location was too far away from the main city downtown and the connection with the public transportation was also not so clear.

Review 2:Quite nice room interior and enough large size for our double room. Very clean.

Review 3:we went to a lot of trouble to find out whether this hotel restaurant was open over the Christmas period. They did not respond to our emails but responded immediately when Bookings.com contacted them. They sent sample menus and confirmed that the restaurant was open throughout. It was closed on our 1st night and we were directed to their sister hotel several miles away. We had no option as most restaurants are closed on Christmas Eve. The meal was expensive and medioca. We tried our hotel restaurant again on Christmas Day but it was shut so we had to find somewhere else to eat.

Review 4:When things went wrong they investigated and sent fruit, cakes and wine to our room.

Review 5:The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood which is quite far if you want to walk to the main attractions. You can use the bus and tram though. We missed the amenities in the bathroom. We only got a soap dispenser in the shower which was almost empty and was not re-filled during our stay. Also, towels are quite basic for a 4 star hotel.

Review 6:Breakfast is amazing. Staff is nice and helpful. The coffee machine in the room is excellent.

Review 7:- Hated the shower - Despite a cool pillow menu, none of the pillows really worked out for us

Review 8:- Staff was friendly and helpful. - Located near a bus line with easy access to downtown Vienna - Seems very pet friendly

Review 9:Only miscellaneous issues: We found breakfast to be 18€/person which is pretty much expensive (had no chance to check wether it worth the cost). Not much light in the room. Nothing to dry towels or other clothing on.

Review 10:Great personnel! Everybody were supportive when we needed to find working food and medicine stores (on 25-26 December), to open bottle of wine, order a taxi or just to navigate us to local sights. Everything went smoothly.

Review 11:Staff were totally uninterested. Couldn't have been less bothered by our presence. Not unhelpful, just totally distant. I guess this is what you get from a corporate, chain hotel. It almost felt like they knew we paid less than the market rate, so we got less of a service. I've never experienced that before when using Booking.com.

Review 12:Great room, great coffee machine and lovely modern hotel. Thought I'd comment on the location, which seems to get mixed reviews. If you're lazy, this isn't the place for you. Clearly, you do have to walk places, but it's about 10 to 15 minutes to Hofberg Palace and the Rathaus, so it's hardly very far. Also, the location is in a relatively quiet area, which is nice and is near the Spittelberg area, which has good, well priced local restaurants and pubs. The Zieglergasse underground is less than a 10 minute walk away too, handy for transport to further out places (like the Hauptbahnhoff - took about 15 minutes with one change). All in all we were very happy with the location, especially for the price we paid (about 90 Euros per night).

Review 13:Can't read in the room. Lights are not strong enough to see properly.

Review 14:Nice neighborhood, great Christmas market nearby. We would choose this hotel again. Parking convenient.

Review 15:The floor in our room had scratches which didn't look so good. Breakfast could be cheaper. Wifi very weak.

Review 16:Good hotel. Not to far away for a young couple. The big TV was awesome, comfortable bed.

Review 17:Needed more efficient lighting in the room We both got sick and are not sure if it was from the buffet breakfast or the Italian restaurant nearby.

Review 18:Comfortable room and pleasant surroundings. We were able to walk to the 'historical center' and easy access to train and metro.

Review 19:It is a stylish hotel with modern design, set in an enjoyable central neighbourhood with beautiful architecture (mainly belonging to the 19th century and dotted with beautiful older samples), many art shops, bars and restaurants. The Spittelberg, the Museum Quarter, the Rathaus, the Hofburg Palace, the Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Naturhistorisches Museum, as well as the Mariahilfer Straße shopping street can be reached by walking. The rooms are pleasant and comfortable, the breakfast is very good and varied in offer, the staff is young and helpful. The hotel’s on site garage (decently priced) is a plus. Overall, a very good ratio price-quality.

Review 20:Nothing much, it's not really near the center though. Have to walk a couple of minutes to the nearest station.

Review 21:Very comfortable and spacious rooms. Staffs were very helpful.

Review 22:The hotel's garage is too small for big cars.

Review 23:The hotel is situated close to the Vienna's top attractions. Rooms are comfortable and very clean. I can strongly recommend hotel's breakfast which is reach and delicious.

Review 24:There was no soap in the lavatory for 2 consecutive nights (the container was empty and it was the only detergent provided in the room, I mean liquid soap for hands/body/hair) despite informing the hotel's staff 2 times...

Review 25:Quiet and clean room

Review 26:The total indifference to any situation. It was very hot the few days we were in Vienna and the air conditioning was wholly inadequate. I asked if something could be done and was told it was what it was.

Review 27:Location

Review 28:I didn't like that the sauna and steam room were not operating the night and the next morning during Opening hours I was there. Out of 2 nights I wasn't able to use the spa facilities.

Review 29:Awesome staff excellent breakfast it's true.

Review 30:Nothing.

Review 31:Very pleasent hotel, staff is helpful and nice, rooms are very clean and comfortable, and the breakfast is fantastic. Museumquartel and Hofburg is within 10-15 walk, so as Westbanhof. Next time I stay in Vienna, I will choose this hotel.

Review 32:the breakfast seemed a little expensive so we ate out each day. The restaurant prices seemed pretty good however.

Review 33:never stayed any where quieter. Seemed like even though the hotel was full, we were the only people there. The hotel room was very clean, bright and spacious. Staff at reception were very friendly and helpful. Certainly would love to stay there again...

Review 34:Sliding bathroom door that didn't close properly. Cramped parking (and expensive but that's unavoidable in the area).

Review 35:Nice hotel, clean, good and varied breakfast. Close to the center, metro and several restaurants.

Review 36:WiFi in our room had weak signal, and kept going in and out. Also, there were no drawers in the room! Where does one put stuff?

Review 37:Hotel was in quiet location. It had one of the most comfortable beds we found on our whole trip, and a very courteous and helpful staff

Review 38:I booked a room suitefor two, on the 5th top floor ,and it did not have any view to the city whatsoever .The cleaning staff will not refill the daily bathroom supplies ,unless you complain.very dirty floors, and extra dirty floor mats next to the bed.the floors in the rooms, with spider cobwebs in the corners.no sweeping done for months.they advertise free daily coffee per room suite ,but they do not supply coffee for the machine ,unless you complain. On Saturday they did not clean our suite at all . At the reception desk they did not pay attention to the problems I explained to them.

Review 39:for a suite ,very quiet room ,warm, satisfactory lighting.

Review 40:Could only open one window. Top window was screwed shut and the air con was noisy. Reported this but nothing seemed to have been done.

Review 41:Great location, coffee in the room, very firendly staff, clean and modern. Nice apples.

Review 42:The way from the reception desk to the room could take 8-10 minutes, as elevators are overwhelmed all time. The reception is not available by phone at all. Once I called them during 15 minutes till my call was picked up. I have requested to bring fork and knife to the room, there is charge for that - 7 eur - room service. It's the first time when to bring any stuff to the room costs any money. Electronic key was broken and I was provided with simple key from the room. I asked to give me second one for my relative, they promised to bring second one, but they didn't. I asked them 4 times, no reactions. Location is terrible. Never stay at this hotel anymore.

Review 43:Nothing

Review 44:The hotels breakfast was overpriced costing €18. The bed was uncomfortable , the pillows in particular. The location was ok but it took approximately 25 minutes to walk to the museum quarter or if you wanted to utilise the underground train system one had to use different train lines. The main nightlife area was also some distance away it would not be possible to walk there.

Review 45:This hotel was uber modern and very stylish. The staff was helpful and the cleanliness of the hotel was of a high standard. It was also reasonably priced.

Review 46:dont realy have much downisues. but as we were in few falkensteiners this one was a bit below the average.

Review 47:Quite a good location. Few minute walk from tram that takes you in front of opera, park, etc. Walk to center is a bit far if you go to a concert or simmilar, but ok for sight seeing. Value for money is ok, but it probably depends on offer you get. Beds are good, service is fine, breakfast verygood, rooms are a bit too 'used'.

Review 48:Room Place

Review 49:We're small room very small wardrobe

Review 50:Service

Review 51:A bit far from the city, you have to take a bus first and then with UBahn

Review 52:Not so expensive for the 4stars hotel, there are many restaurants nearby

Review 53:Beds too soft, rooms too hot (switching of the heating does not solve the problem)

Review 54:Excellent breakfast but quite expensive

Review 55:Spacious rooms, very clean, breakfast .

Review 56:Clean and comfortable room. Perfect breakfast.

Review 57:in my room don't have good wifi The wifi was very low

Review 60:Not much.

Review 62:Breakfast too extensive

Review 63:Parking lots

Review 96:Breakfast was good, Hotel staff was nice

Review 97:The staff

Review 98:Lack of storage space for clothes.

Review 99:Friendliness of the staff, combined with the close proximity of the main tourist area.

Review 100:Tv reception is poor. Only - 1 euro sport Chanel? No tea facility inroom. No toast facility in buffet/dining. Hot water demand was poorin dining. Free wifi was poor reception.

Review 101:Location was good for stadhalle concert.

Review 102:Let the hotel that it was my husbands 50th birthday, nothing special was done ie completely drink. Asked for any other really nice restaurant in area, staff not helpful on any ideas at all didn't try to find any restaurants for a special dinner. Disappointing.

Review 103:Room was nice and clean, easy walking distance to centre

Review 104:Could have done with a proper kettle in the room, the coffee machine was loud and the boiling water had a taste of coffee, certainly a negative for tea drinkers like myself! Also, WiFi was a bit cumbersome, had to sign in frequently, would have been better to do so just once!

Review 105:Room fantastic, good size, airy, very clean. Staff friendly and approachable, good location too, 20 min walk away from centre

Review 106:wooden decorated, very comfortable large rooms. Location was very good, near metro and bus stations. Clean and large bathroom. The staff was very helpful.

Review 107:The one thing we found a little annoying was the Air conditioning unit was very noisy but very necessary.

Review 108:Nice clean bright friendly Hotel with very nice toiletries. Well placed for the activities we were interested in. Very pleasant and helpful staff, all in all we had a very enjoyable stay.

Review 109:parking was a little tight but this is understandable given the location.

Review 110:Friendly staff, good facilities with gym, close to city centre & good value.

Review 111:-the rooms are little smal and must be renovated - the foor are scratched -very small space for clothes - restaurant menu are very poor , only 3-4 dishes

Review 112:-staff amability -coffe maker in the room - is a very good idea -excelent brekfast, congratulations for the chef ! -good position , 10 min to Mariahilferstrasse, 20 min to city center

Review 113:Just the Sauna and Fitness area that could be better! but it's ok if you won't intend to use!

Review 114:Everything was very good! It's a small Hotel very new and well designed!

Review 115:Only one small chair in the room, heavy sliding bathroom door. A bit far from the centre. Expensive breakfast.

Review 116:Good room with a comfortable bed and a coffee machine (not your usual instant coffee). Booked a special value deal, so it was excellent quality for such a price. Close to the club I was going to that evening.

Review 117:Even if satellite tv is advertised, is only cable tv, all programs (apoor selection, in fact) are in german, as if only german speakingguests need to use the tv. As long as the guest does not speaks german, the tv is simply useless

Review 118:Excelent breakfast, spacious clean bathroom, helpfull and friendlystaff, good and free wifi connection, nice clean area, clean room

Review 119:It is good to mention that the hotel is not really within walking distance of the city center (20 minutes) but is well connected, especially bus line, the nearest metro station is 3 blocks away. Parking is not suitable/possible for SUV vehicles.

Review 120:Nice and clean hotel located in quiet neighborhood. Friendly young stuff, helpful and kind. We have stayed in "old" rooms which are comfortable and well equipped.

Review 121:Ventilation of the bathroom is noisy and it doesn't stop working after turning the light of - keeps on working for aprox.10-15 min. The "Superior" room is quite small. Car parking - 17eur/day is too expansive in my opinion Breakfast is rich, but too expansive in my opinion- 17eur/day

Review 122:the parquet floor is noisy.

Review 123:-the bed and the bed clothes are amazing: very clean, fin and relaxant. -the personell are professional and friendly, -excelent idea to have a coffe-maker in the room.

Review 124:It would be good to mention that SUV cars cannot park in the hotel (only up to 1.5m height).

Review 125:Excellent breakfast, superb location, very close to the main shopping street, big rooms

Review 126:A good choice of pillows, quiet and yet not far from the main attractions, and one of the best breakfast buffets I have ever seen in a Hotel. About a 10 Minute walk from the Westbahnhof, so if you arrive at the Airport, take the shuttle bus to there instead of a taxi.

Review 127:staff during the breakfast - impolite, not caring

Review 128:great value for price overally, the staff is very helpful and kind parking (even though paid, which is not mentioned at booking.com profile)

Review 129:The room / suite /was advertise as with nice view of Vienna. I confirm that we saw nice Vienna yard.

Review 130:All what I appreciate was so average. Bad for 4 stars, fine for 3 stars. So I mean that the better sort of hotel it would be three stars .
