Reviews for Hotel Villa Margherita

Review 1:No dislikes.

Review 2:Every single detail. The best hotel in your trip since Amsterdam. Number 2 is VanGogh hotel in Amsterdam and number 3 is GreenPark Hotel in Bologna.

Review 3:Hotel has great location with a beautiful view. We came there in October, so after high season, but still it is good place for holidays. Very good restaurant and very helpfull and kind personel.

Review 4:Three quarters of hotel being ripped apart by modernisation building works. Wires hanging out of walls, safety features ie. Smoke detectors, exit plans missing from rooms. The hotel should not have really been accommodating guests.

Review 5:Externally lovely looking building in a delightful spot above a rocky cove.

Review 6:there was no wifi and pool was cold but I got into the ocean and went to a cafe to get wifi, but no biggie

Review 7:I loved the hotel, the view of my room was breathtaking.. the food of the restaurant was fabulous and the staff were very accommodating! I can't wait to go back ;)

Review 8:There is some upgrading of the hotel going on but it in no way affected our stay. Limited parking also

Review 9:The staff especially Lisa were great. She couldn't do enough for us and always had a smile on her face. The pool was wonderful but it was the view and the direct access to the beach which was spectacular.

Review 10:They didn't tell us the hotel was under renovations! The A/C wasn't working though it was advertised. The screens were torn and didn't full cover the windows and there were lots of mosquitoes. I was standing in front of the concierge to ask some questions about wifi and breakfast. In mid-sentence she took a call and walked away! After 5 minutes of waiting, I gave up and left. She never asked me what I wanted or apologized for her priorities.

Review 11:Gorgeous views and cool clean water. The beach is rocky and you will need light shoes to get into the water. But in the heat of the summer, it was worth a trip to the coast. Once the renovations are completed and everything is working properly, it will be much nicer. Though I suspect the rates will increase. Beware of rooms on the ground floor as some look onto the parking area!

Review 12:Airco did not work, they lied it was just today and workers are there to solve the problem, but these were workers restauring the other rooms. unable to sleep at night because of the heat, and windows could not open because of the noise from the weddings in the weekends(and afterwards the kitchen, cleaning all the plates)

Review 13:friendly and flexibel, clean

Review 14:No aircondition in the room, only a fan. Not acceptable when its 33 C outside ...

Review 15:Nice view from terrace. Good service for lunch. Waited 40 minutes for a drink, and had to order again.

Review 16:Ongoing maintenance - drilling, hammering, painting - during our stay had a very negative impact. The wifi was still being installed so we could not use it for a few days. There was nobody at reception (ever) so we were given no information when we arrived and found it difficult to find any staff during our stay.

Review 17:Lovely views from the terrace. Food in the restaurant was very good and reasonably priced (including an excellent wine list.) The pool was beautiful.

Review 18:Nothing, when we were there, it was in process of reconstruction but it haven't made us any complications or restrictions. Stoney beach but very nice and calm

Review 19:Beautiful view, very nice and friendly staff and personal, clean and new, swimming pools with sea water, whirpool

Review 20:The only problem we had was the WiFi would turn off almost immediately after not using it so it was a constant battle of having to put in the password. I hope that can be fixed

Review 21:This was a very nice hotel with excellent service and a terrific restaurant. We stayed in room #8. I highly recommend it for it beautiful patio and view of the sea.

Review 22:We arrived one hour after check in time and the room was not ready. There was no air conditining, or fan, in the room forcing us to open the windows and let the mosquitoes in.

Review 23:Location was good and the food was nice.

Review 24:The Mosquitos were awful!

Review 25:The staff was consistently attentive, happy and helpful. Our room overlooked the ocean & we heard the waves all night! All the food; for breakfast, lunch & dinner was fabulous! I really hope we can return to the Villa Margherita!

Review 26:The only minus of the place are bathrooms - it's equipment and functionality

Review 27:The place is fantastic. Breakfast served on the terrace with sea view and friendly staff is great.

Review 28:no air con no tea/coffee facilities in room no mini bar in room to store your own cold drinks no tv reception in room

Review 29:sea view room is a must. quiet location lovely tiny village 10 min walk from train station. vintage rustic, shabby chic hotel

Review 30:We spent two Times in this Great hotel. We enjoyed an excellent Service, a beautyful room and kind People. Thank You so so much!!! We Are sure to come back for One more time. Best regards from switzerland sandy&marcus.

Review 31:expensive compare to conditions of the hotel and rooms, no air conditioner! - very noisy fan in return, not very clean and really small room, bad smell in bathroom, practically not working wifi, I truly do not recommend

Review 32:localization, swimming pool, service

Review 33:The madrasses in the beds was a bit to hard (as they always are abroad).

Review 34:This place was a big surprise. Our children loved the swimmingpool and the opportunity to visit the rocky beach. We, the parents, love the staff, the wiew, the food, the atmosphere and one of the best terraces ever to have breakfast and dinner on. The last day we have to leave early before breakfast, no problem for the staff, they gave us a good "travel-breakfast" in a bag. We will definetely go back here.

Review 35:wifi did not work.

Review 36:We like this hotel and its view over sea. renovated and modern rooms. very tasty breakfast.

Review 37:animals in hotel not so nice

Review 38:delicieus food, nice panorama, quited place

Review 39:no air conditioning - very hot at night and close to a railway line so noisy too

Review 40:wonderful staff, great views and lots of character

Review 41:Proprietaria un' po scortese. Aria acondizionata non funzionante

Review 42:Lo staff molto gentile, piscina stupenda, colazione fantastica

Review 43:Small room, very slow service in the restaurant

Review 44:Good location, beautiful view, tasty foods

Review 45:Nothing

Review 46:The hotel is lovely and all the staff friendly,

Review 47:lovely hospitality, very nice swimming pool, very charming. location for us was good as it was on route and by the sea.

Review 48:'Resort' not much to offer; beach rocky

Review 49:Beautiful building/excellent pool. High class restaurant/breakfast. Great view.

Review 50:Wifi

Review 51:The location, service, food - a step away from luxury

Review 52:Room far too small for family of four. Very very very expensive for what it was.

Review 53:Staff were great. Nice swimming Pool

Review 54:The beach is like stones and you need to have a special shoes to entry the water

Review 55:The view is perfect and the staff is perfect as well.

Review 56:Wifi system was a bit primitive (only two devices per room); tv was tiny; plug sockets limited and too far from the mirror.

Review 57:Lovely staff - all extremely friendly. Gorgeous position on the cliff top with charming terraces. Decent food and great service. Different levels of terrace for eating, relaxing, swimming were interesting and made the grounds feel bigger than they were.

Review 58:The staff is very friendly. Good locations for a swim in the sea are nearby the hotel - just in case you want to try something else than the pool. Perfect view of the sea while dining and swimming in the pool.

Review 59:The hotel is charming, but dated. The lobby needs a make-over and so do the rooms (and the website). However, the price and the friendly staff make up for this.

Review 60:The location, the pool and the terrace both with a splendid view over the sea, room also with seaview and a balcony, the very friendly staff.

Review 61:During our visit the crew made reconstruction works, the hotel was full of dust, my husband became an allergy, and baby can not sleep at midday, we needed to go somewhere for whole day and spent time out of hotel. When the reconstructions happens - the hotel must be closed and then cleaned!!!!

Review 62:Very nice interior and exterior, sea view!

Review 63:There was nothing to dislike!!!

Review 64:The staff, the food...especially the lemon cake! the views the setting the extremely comfortable bed, the early Italian sun... in fact everything was just perfect.. Thank you we will be back...

Review 65:The shower was small. It was okay for us, but someone over 220 pounds would have a problem fitting. Sound reverberates a bit there. And you might have a problem if you don't like to fall asleep to the sound of waves. However, I loved doing that! Bottom line- ignore these minor issues, and book this place right away before someone else does!

Review 66:I so appreciate booking.com because how else would I have found this wonderful place? For a 20 euro premium we got a wonderful room on the front with a fabulous view. Look at the pictures, they are accurate. All of the staff are very accommodating. We ate dinner at an early time for Italy (6:15pm) and also for breakfast, and they not only seemed pleased, but the meals were outstanding. I had salmon in rose pepper and it was amazing. The room was a good size with a very high ceiling. It has the feel of an ancient Roman mansion with its marble terraces and beautiful statuary. The owner's parents bought this private villa 46 years ago, and she has made amazing improvements. She lived in England for 6 years and speaks perfect English with a British accent. She and all of the staff are lovely. Just as we were leaving, there was a beautiful rainbow over the Mediterranean. It seemed so appropriate.

Review 67:It´s quite loud when someone opens and closes the room doors and when people walk through the corridor on the ground floor; we didn´t have a shower curtain in our bathroom

Review 68:Amazing view from terrace over the ocean; friendly staff in the restaurant; breakfast is very good and when we had dinner at the hotel it was always delicious.

Review 69:No air con Wedding parties during our visit. Caused noise and not able to use full facilties all the time

Review 70:Breathtaking views Great location Good food

Review 71:if i had to be picky it would be the lack of air con, but that said we did have a fan in the room which was adequate

Review 72:staff very friendly and very helpful. Pool was idyllic, just the right temperature. breakfast was delicious

Review 73:We were first given a really small room, not at all suited for a family of four. When the staff started working on some improvement of the room without noticing us, we demanded a new room. This was much nicer with a large terrace. However, the rooms, as well as the hotel in general, seems to be in need of a renovation. We stayed for two nights, and both evenings the restaurant was booked by weddings, which meant that the service in temporary restaurant setting was quite poor (it was basically maintained by one waitress who worked extremely hard and did her best to cater to all guests).

Review 74:The hotel has a very nice setting with terraces overlooking the Mediterranean and the restaurant offers good, typical Italian dishes.

Review 75:Only few rooms had ocean view from the window, and from what we could tell these were family rooms (3-4 persons). We got the room just above the parking lot which made it quite loud.

Review 76:Very nice view from the restaurant and swimming pool, clean rooms, friendly staff :) Localization just by the sea, close to the railway station which allows you to visit other cities if you don't have a car. Restaurant served very good meals and you don't need to pay right away - they add it to your bill.

Review 77:We especially loved relaxing at the pool and dining on the terrace. This is an excellent place to unwind after sight seeing in the Cinque Terre. The food and staff (especially Lisa) are wonderful!

Review 78:We absolutely loved it here. The room was clean, spacious, and a great price for the area. The food was some of the best we had in Italy. The sauces were fabulous. We had a large dinner and couldn't believe the great value of the restaurant. We had two amazing servers that worked so hard to make sure everything was great. Lisa and her red head side kick( I know you drew a picture but I can't find it), gave us the best service we had in Italy. The pool was clean and the poolside service was great. There is nothing bad to say about this hidden gem. Well worth a stop for a night or two. This is the perfect place to relax, get away from the crowds and really enjoy the beauty of Italy.

Review 79:The accommodation, the pool and the view over the bay itself was verynice. However in the room and especially the bathroom are manyfacilities very dated. We were a bit disappointed by that, in thebathroom it constantly smell (sewer air), and despite the property beinga dated some things urgently need to be upgraded and or renovated. Suchas a faucet or a decent shower curtain for example etc etc.Furthermore, we found it very unpleasant that during our stay two weddings took place at the location, as a result, we could not use the accompanying restaurant or you had to post in a corner in the elevator and stairway passage.

Review 80:The service staff was very committed and friendly. The breakfastbuffet was excellent, eggs on all kinds prepared were possible andcould be ordered as you like. During our stay there one member of theservice staff took particularly good care of us, that was Lisa, thanksagain Lisa!

Review 81:well this place has style, elegance and a warmth that envelops you as soon as you walk through the doors. our large and spacious room and the view out to sea watching the sunset was just beautiful. the smaller dining room with log fire was very cosy and intimate. the large dining room was fabulous and the buffet breakfast was a treat to look at and eat. the outside space was fab and there was lots of smaller separate spaces with shaded areas. the staff are lovely and give great service. if you need a break away from a busy life you could come here and chill, drink, eat fab food and never leave. can't praise it enough really

Review 82:The room we stayed oin was 14, and the bathroom smelled like sewer gas all the time we were there. that took a lot of the fun out of it. Also, the lights in the bathroom are so dim, you can hardly see to put on makeup.

Review 83:the Villa is a very pretty hotel. It's old, but that just adds to the charm of the place. The dining room was great, and the food was really good. they served a beautiful breakfast there, and were very accomodating. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 84:-Hotel: it's a creaky old building. So, it was fairly loud. There was a mild but off-putting smell in the bathroom (and in our co-travellers' bathroom) of sewage. -Restaurant just OK. Prices were reasonable but it seemed the menu was just too broad for them. Would recommend they stick to local or classic dishes and narrow down the menu. Our server was VERY new and made many mistakes. On the other hand, the wine list was very good and very well-priced. -Quercianella as a town is VERY quiet. I repeat, VERY quiet.

Review 85:-Hotel: Location ON the beach is outstanding and views. Value was outstanding -- we paid 74 euro for triple room. Friendly staff, fluent English. Outdoor areas very, very well done.

Review 86:Only stayed one night on our way to Rome. Would have liked to stay longer. Friendly staff and a bit of old world charm. Restaurant dinners were good and the breakfasts were also good with plenty of variety. Lovely views as it was right on the sea and the pool area was very pleasant. The room and bathroom were spacious and very clean.

Review 87:Awfull incompetent staff! Only owner speaks english but she is hardlyever there ! Very dirty place ! It needed an hour to get extra towels!Avoid avoid avoid !

Review 88:Nice location

Review 89:Imagine small double room where sombody put 2extra beds and call it aroom for 4 !!! Travelling with children there - disaster ! No ac! Nobodyspeaks english ! dont go there!!!

Review 90:Location

Review 91:there was not adequate parking. This is made worse by them having wedding receptions at hotel.During our stay there were three,This meant all guests had to eat dinner in another part of hotel.on our last night most of the tables were in hotel lobby !! Also guests lost use terraces and sunbathing area and had to put up with extra noise.no wonder manageress no where to be seen on check out!.We considered this was not the way to treat guests.

Review 92:the staff were very friendlywith very good service.situation on sea front good. The food was excellent, both in cooking and presentation.

Review 93:In side of the room, it was too hot without an air conditioner or a fan.

Review 94:There is a clean pool that has placed to at least stands for children. Perfect view of the ocean from the outdoor restaurant.

Review 95:Beautiful setting right on the seafront. Family run. Service utter perfection. Especially Lisa, Ciao Bella! They really can't do enough for you. Room full of Antique furniture which we loved( may not suit some people, but hey, this is real Italy) no package deals here. The food was fabulous. Six pages of menu to choose from. Children's suggestions too. Half portions no problem. Wine list v good and not expensive. Approx 14 Euros for a good bottle. Half board approx 25 euros each for a 4 course meal! Pool made out of rocks, amazing. Smaller than expected, but soon got over that in the searing heat of the sun. Lots of Italians, a few Germans and one other English couple! This place , as other reviewers have said, is an absolute gem and I we will definitely go back one day. I wish them every success for the future.

Review 96:Hotel difficult to get to. Unable to swim in the ocean in front of thehotel, too rough, and beaches further along owned by other hotels. Ourroom was a little small and tucked away but was very nicely decorated.Hard to find staff when we wanted a pre dinner drink. No fridge in room.

Review 97:Lovely old hotel - although a little faded since it's heyday. Beautifulviews of the ocean. Big clean swimming pool. Dinner on the balconyperfect, stayed at the motel both nights. Staff friendly.

Review 98:If the beach had partially been sand/child-friendly, ithis would have been a 10'er!

Review 99:We just really enjoyed the stay in the beautiful landscaped hotel setting. We had a large room, with windows on two walls, which probably was a blessing, due to the wind coming through (the rooms had no air-conditioning). Staff and facility, especially pool-areal - was fantastic!! We had four children at the ages og 3 - 13 - and all enjoyed!!

Review 100:A/C would have been nice

Review 101:Quiet relaxing environment for adults while pool setting allowed for an enjoyable stay for a 9 and 6 year old Restaurant has great food and service

Review 102:The local is amazing. Not near. Not far. Good quality pillow andmattress, furniture in good state, frequent exchange of towels, wifi maybe more accessible in all rooms (not only at the front desk). The higherpoint is the restaurant. Our score is 9 (from 0-10).

Review 103:No, everthing was perfect, a really nice stay.

Review 104:Really family atmosphere! Food and service were excellent. We can really recommend it, and we coming back soon to this excellent village and nice family hotel. A really nice stay! Mikael Carlsson with family from Sweden

Review 105:Hotel is definitely showing its age. Small rooms, our quadruple was more a double with two extra folding beds. Nothing to do in the village.

Review 106:Nice location at the sea, unfortunately no sand beach. Quiet! Helpful staff.

Review 107:The room was clean and tidy, buy a bit old fashioned. The shower/bath did not have good drainage and flooded out bathroom. Wifi was available only in the reception, and not our room.

Review 108:The restaurant was excellent. And very accommodating. We arrived at almost midnight but they were happy to serve us dinner. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Great sea view location, with some nice restaurants close by. If you have a car, it's a good base from which to see some of Tuscany.

Review 109:We stayed at the hotel for a Saturday and Sunday night and booked it forthe location. When we arrived at about 3.45 we found the pool was out ofuse from 4pm because of a wedding which occupied most of the terraces aswell as the pool area and went on until midnight. Took my husband 30minutes to get a beer in the evening . These things happen and thewebsite does advertise that they can hold events so fair enough.Unfortunately there was another wedding on Sunday - not as large and atleast we could use the pool but the terraces were used. I think it wouldhave been considerate if we had been warned in advance - especially asthe owner or manager is British I was told - that a large area would beout of use. Our stay was not what I was expecting and was adisappointing end to our holiday. If you are thinking of staying here Iwould check beforehand re weddings.

Review 110:Breakfast waitresses were lovely. Especially the dark haired lady whowas attentive and thoughtful.

Review 111:The shower head in the bathroom sprayed everywhere and needs tobe replaced.

Review 112:We had a wonderful room with a balcony. The pool was also greatfor the kids.

Review 113:Our stay in this hotel was perfect. The owners are very friendly. Therestaurant very good. The location is perfect. The railwaystation nearbyis a great bonus. We loved this hotel.

Review 114:This Romantic Inn has been owned by the same family for 4 generations and 3 of those generations are working still. They make you feel at home immediately. The food was superb and they always made you extra dishes just to make you feel better. We stayed 4 nights and wished we had stayed longer. Right on the Mediterranean, close to the train station, easy access to the Tuscan region. After visiting incredible sites all day, we always felt like we were coming back to an oasis. Thanks to Elizabeth, Tania and grand parents!

Review 115:The hotel itself is in need of some renovation. Our room was not one of the better ones (we could see the other rooms and they looked somewhat better and more comfortable than the one we were staying in.

Review 116:The location is very good and the staff went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. The location right on the sea shore offers great viewes of the sea and the sunsets were spectacular. A large terrace with sea view is a perfect spot for the first coffee in the morning. All in all good value for money.

Review 117:The walls are very thin. I could hear neighbors speaking. Apparently we came off season and the pool was not working yet. The beach is only rocks and makes it difficult to sweem and enjoy the sea.

Review 118:The staff is very responsive and kind. The parking space and the view are also good. The general impression of the location and the hotel is good.

Review 119:Horrible bathroom: very small shower (60x60cm..?) and running water made it impossible to shower - no way to hold the temperature for more than 5 seconds - choice between either boiling hot or freezing cold; no shower towel change in 5 days, smell ....... (Room 12 and room 16) recommend it for an overnight stay but not more

Review 120:Sea front location and view absolutely stunning and charming; very nice breakfast with different coffee options and friendly staff.

Review 121:Some modernisation work required in the bathroom.

Review 122:Perched on a cliff top with a superb sea view, this family-run hoteloffers a friendly, relaxed ambiance to all kinds of visitors - families, couples, old and young. Perfectly placed for visiting the Tuscanyhinterland and offering a haven of peace and quiet after a busy daymixing with the crowds.

Review 123:The rooms and bathrooms could use some updating.

Review 124:The location is beautiful and when the pool is open I am sure it is magnificent. We enjoyed ourselves and have already booked a return visit for this summer. The restaurant is very nice and quite reasonably priced for the location. The breakfast was very good by Italian standards and even included eggs and bacon. The staff at the hotel is very accommodating! Great place!

Review 125:fantastic food in restaurant. great view from terrace. enjoy!

Review 126:Beautiful vivev :)

Review 127:The hotel is a 'grand old lady' ; great location, but has seen better days and is in real need of refurbishment.

Review 128:Slightly shabby Doors are to be changed

Review 129:Location Interiors Supper in hotel restaurant Bed and mattress Territory

Review 130:Rooms can be little bit noisy.

Review 131:Very nice hotel directly at the sea, good food, own parking lot, good WI-FI. They will help you with everything.

Review 132:I liked the staff they were very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. A nice place

Review 133:nothing
