Reviews for Hotel Herculaneum
Review 1:The shower was cold, and the breakfast was a little lackluster. The local area was a little bit run down, and there wasn't many places to eat lunch/dinner nearby.
Review 2:The staff were friendly and helpful. The beds were comfy, and the room was clean. The hotel was literally across the road from Ercolano Scavi (the Herculaneum Ruins), and only a 2 minute walk from the Circumvesuviana train.
Review 3:the parking was at 300metres from the hotel.
Review 4:Good room, the elevator was broke, they are using it just for thr luggages, good location, close to Scavi of Ercolano.
Review 5:Little problem with final price of occupied rooms but Luca tookcare of it.
Review 6:E mails with desk agent, Luca ironing out visit details were quick, polite and understable. The other hotel staff were pleasant and helpful.Breakfast included in room price had fruit juices, hard boiled eggs, sliced meats & cheese and hot beverages. Nice European breakfast!
Review 7:A little hard to find (there were some construction works that closed several streets). Also be aware that the parking lot is around 400-500m away from the hotel. Not a big issue, just so you know :)
Review 8:Great and friendly staff, helped us a lot. Clean and decent conditions, great wifi and tasty breakfast. Great base for explorations around Naples.
Review 9:Outstanding service, great location with comfortable and quiet room and extra helpful service from the manager and other staff. English speaking manager went above and beyond to make our short stay a highlight!
Review 10:I am a Sri Lankan, & this is the best place to date I have stayed in terms of the hotel staff. The staff was VERY friendly. Even I am a young man, they carried my bag up to the room as a help.... so I had a good impression from the very first moment I stepped in to this hotel! Other important thing is it's just in front of the Herculaneum archaeological site. Also had a wonderful & quite inexpensive dinner from this hotel!
Review 11:We drove and if you are not used to busy traffic take a train to this area. The hotel does offer parking that is secure which was great. But getting in and out was a bit of a mission. This is a great area of Italy to visit do it by train. I would recommended this hotel.
Review 12:We choice this hotel for the location near Ercolano which was basically across the street. The hotel was lovely and so were the staff. Breakfast was really great as well.
Review 13:None
Review 14:Great hotel, staff very helpful and courteous. Location for the ruins is very good only 50 yards or so, but the area is very dirty and noisey due to the traffic. Only complaint is that are no safes in the rooms and walking around at night with a lot of money in your pocket makes you feel very wary of your surroundings
Review 15:The bathroom had an unappealing smell although it seemed very clean. Better accessed from Ercolano-Scarvi station not porticio station.
Review 16:Lovely breakfast. Very helpful friendly staff. In the heart of Italian life while directly opposite the Herculaneum entrance.
Review 17:The location is ideal, management and staff were outstanding in every way and the room and breakfast perfect for a short stay. Free street parking nearby was also a plus with optional paid parking in a lot not far away.
Review 18:Ercolano is very noisy - not much the hotel can do about that, though.
Review 19:All the staff were really friendly and went out of their way to help with any questions. Breakfast was excellent - good selection of bread, meat, cheese, cereal, yoghurt, pastries etc. Air conditioning in room was a boon. Just across road from Herculaneum and not far from railway for access to Naples, Pompeii etc. Secure parking available nearby.
Review 20:Nothing about the hotel, but we should have opted for the room service. Ercolano is not a nice town to be wandering, and the 'cafe' we found was microwaved pasta on a plastic plate.....
Review 21:Very helpful staff, really liked the idea that if Vesuvius went up they had an evacuation plan..... Nice room, glad to find a bath! The hotel is exactly across the road from the excavations and not far from the rail station.
Review 22:- shabby area of the town, dirty streets, noisy traffic, - weak sound isolation (a good pair of ear plugs helps a lot)
Review 23:-proximity to the Scavi di Ercolano (just across the street) and the Virtual museum of Ercolano (200m around the corner); -helpful staff; -safe parking (costs 8€, ca.400m from the hotel)
Review 24:Nothing, would have been nice to have a kettle in the room although this doesn't appear to be a thing provided in Italy
Review 25:Excellent location, right opposite the entrance to the ruins
Review 26:The beds were extremely hard. The hotel is on a very busy intersection. If you have a room facing the streets it can get very loud.
Review 27:The Ruins are right across the street.
Review 28:Only gripe was ordered crepe from room service took an age to arrive, but this really was only a tiny glitch.
Review 29:Fantastic location opposite entrance to Roman site. Staff friendly and uber-helpful.also looked after pair of trainers we lost for collection on return. Erculano as a town not much going on but good base for Herculaneum, Vesuvius and Pompeii (20 mins drive on dual carriageway). Secure parking 5 minutes walk. Simple but tasty breakfast, v good croissants, excellent freshly squeezed Orange juice. Room large enough for family of four with double and two single beds. On street but not noisy. Wifi worked fine.
Review 30:Not a huge amount of restaurants etc close by.
Review 31:Very friendly staff, especially Luca. Very helpful in all aspects of our stay. Hercalaneum is literally across the road. Good train/bus links to Pompeii and Vesuvius. Lovely breakfast.
Review 32:Nothing!
Review 33:The hotel is clean with good facilities and excellent location, but what really made it were the staff, who were without exception friendly, helpful, personable and went out of their way to look after us in any way possible. Excellent value for money.
Review 34:Bedroom had king sized bed but was probably really only a single so very little room to move around.
Review 35:Situated opposite the Herculaneum site. Continental breakfast was fabulous. Staff went out of their way to be helpful and were Very friendly Lovely restaurant around the corner for evening meal.
Review 36:Beware ladies, The car park is hard to find as its a little way away and down a back lane. I thought it would be ok to collect my car by myself as it was 10am so imagine my suprise when the seemingly friendly old man who started chatting to me tried to touch me up through my car window! I was so shocked i could only drive off quickly but I'm now wishing I'd knocked the dirty old git out with my car door! I would advise any women to avoid walking down there on their own. This is a shame as it put a sour note on an otherwise enjoyable stay.
Review 37:Staff were really friendly and helpful. Beds were super comfy with new pillows and ample towels. Luca kindly fetched us dinner to eat on the terrace. The old Herculaneum couldnt be any closer as its right scross the road. The area is authentically Napolitanen with a buzzing main street. Fab value for money
Review 38:Perfect place to stay when exploring the ruins of Herculaneum! The staff are kind and accommodating. We were so glad we visited Erculaneum and preferred it to Pompeii because it was intimate, not overcrowded and has excellent frescos. The hotel was clean and comfortable and there are great restaurants all around.
Review 39:I wish they had a kettle with coffee/tea in the rooms, but that is just a cultural preference.
Review 40:The staff were all very friendly and helpful, they made me feel very welcome.
Review 41:No clothes washing facilities. Fridge too small Parking was tricky, further away than anticipated & no where to legally 'prop' whilst checking in or out.
Review 42:Wonderful location close to Herculaneum Very friendly & helpful staff.
Review 43:We selected Herculaneum as we wanted to visit the Ercolano scavi. The hotel is very close to the entrance and also a short walk from the station. The hotel is newly renovated and a contrast to the outside town. We had experienced theft of some of our bank cards on the train and the staff were so obliging, helping us to call UK and Australia to cancel cards. Pompeii is a short train ride from Herculaneum, also very convenient. So much less crowded than either Pompeii town or Sorento
Review 44:Air Conditioning did not cool well, but they changed us into a room right away that had a good air conditioner. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable.
Review 45:Luca went out of his way to keep us happy and meet all of our needs! A very reasonably-priced dinner on the outdoor terrace was especially appreciated.
Review 46:Nothing to complain about.
Review 47:In front of the entrance of the archeologic place. A very kind amd helpful staff. Many restaurants in the neighbourhood. Good breakfast.
Review 48:The main disadvantage for elderly people is that there is no lift: there are 34 stairs to the first floor. The staff helped us with the luggage.
Review 49:The staff is very nice and helpfull. Everything is very clean and new. It's located just opposite the excavations of Roman Herculaneum.Breakfast is basic but tasteful: you can have good cappuccino and freshly squeezed orange juice. The room is small. The bathroom is very nice. Everything in this hotel is renovated with good taste.
Review 50:Even though you pay upon arrival, the hotel "accidentally" withdrew the full amount out of my bank and it took me 10 days to get the money back and I did not receive any apologies nor no gesture of goodwill for the hassle it caused me while being on holiday. A member of staff told me they could arrange a taxi to pick me up from the outskirts of Naples, when it came to it another member of staff said that they could not, leaving me stranded late at night, I had to get help from Italian locals to get back, but I could have easily been stuck there all night! Once again no apologies. Two days before I left I went to book an Excursion for the following day at the front desk, the man at the desk did not talk good English, he told me to come back tomorrow morning and speak to the boss and you can still go. So I said to him "Tomorrow is my last day here. if I book tomorrow morning can I still go?" he said "Yes no problem!" And guess what ... I went down the next morning to go see the boss and book and then he tells me its not possible it has to be done 24 hours in advance !! Which is what I tried to do! Once again guys no apologizes. and you cant even argue back to them to get a point across because they don't understand!
Review 51:Nothing, it was a shambles!
Review 52:Herculaneum does not have much night life. The occasional restaurant stays open late, but that's about it.
Review 53:How near it is to the archeological site. The helpfulness of the 2 managers who were on duty during our stay. Everything looks brand new (the hotel's not been open long).
Review 54:The staff was very kind and helpful
Review 55:Parking place!
Review 56:Perfect staff.
Review 57:No fresh fruit at breakfast.

Review 78:Very small bathroom
Review 79:Staff very friendly. Great location for Herculeum site.
Review 80:The location was incredible, the cleanliness and friendly staff were exceptional. How amazing to be across the street from Herculaneum itself?
Review 81:Parking quite far away but safe, breakfast poor as anywhere else in italy and not very well organized
