Reviews for Relais Villa Augusta B&B
Review 1:Parking can be a bit stressful, but would recommend leaving your car behind as the funicular, trains and ferries make travel easy.
Review 2:Kristina and her team were really welcoming and the house felt elegant and special but extremely relaxing too! Such a beautiful location and Kristina's recommendations for restaurants and travel plans were spot on! Hope we can go back soon!
Review 3:Only negative that I could think of would be having to carry several cases up dozens of steps from the fenicular station to the town square. More of an issue for Como town planning really.
Review 4:Great hosts, very helpful. Views of the horizon from the balcony are breathtaking. Very clean and spacious, well appointed rooms.
Review 5:Not the place we didn't like. Just the fact that Brunate is small village so only few restaurants (2-3) open for dinner while we were there. So we had to eat at the same places for 2 days in the row when we were too lazy to go down to Como town again (after went up to take little break after long day)
Review 6:The place is so pretty and friendly - like lovely our home rather than a stranger place. From our room, we can see Como lake downstairs from bed room and bathroom. Breakfast is the hi light from variety and quality we got. Kristina the owner even prepared special order for us if we want something extra from what they have. The location is also great, the funicular down to Como town is just 5 minutes walk from B&B. So it just like we stay in Como convenient but with panoramic view of Como lake. Just love the place
Review 7:Road up to Brunate is very windy, narrow and only suitable for a small car but once in Brunate the funicular takes you into Como which was much more lively ,we were there at end of Septmber
Review 8:Fantastic view from our very comfortable room(with balcony) and owners were incredibly helpful advising us on walks and delightful people.
Review 9:If you do not like or are unable to walk hills, you may want to reconsider staying in Brunate. We liked the exercise.
Review 10:Stunning views. Great, quaint community of Brunate (just a short ride up the funicolare (tram) and a walk of maybe 1/4 mile - but uphill). We did not mind the steep walks - good exercise. Great to watch the sea planes take off and land BELOW our balcony. The air is very fresh - no pollution.
Review 11:Staff lacks attention to detail: towels on the floor were put on the rack and not exchanged; Bread partially frozen one morning; cheese on the buffet overdue; same frittata served serveral days. No a/c in room, heavy traffic noise till deep into the night with open windows
Review 12:Nice house + great view Very good location for long walks
Review 13:Parking is a bit tricky especially if you have a big car. However, the owner helped if needed.
Review 14:The owner was friendly and helpful. She spoke good English. She is proud of her hotel which has been restored beautifully. There are great views of Lake Como from the garden. An excellent breakfast was served on a covered terrace. There are a couple of good restaurants a few steps away.
Review 15:Excellent location with a breathtaking views over the Como, Chiasso and surrounding area, very kind and helpful host (thanks to Cristina), cozy renaissance room, bathroom with a balcony with a view, wifi, delicious breakfast with many variety, a free parking spot, good tratorias nearby. Will definitely come back!
Review 16:The bendy roads coming up can be a bit scary but totally worth it. Maybe best doing the drive in a small car! Please don't let that stop you from going to this beautiful place. I'd love to go back! Nothing I didn't like about it
Review 17:Room was beautiful, loved the wide opening window looking down into Como. Great breeze coming through too. Bed was very comfortable. Staff were very helpful and patient with me considering we had a slight emergency with my daughters passport and helped me and even let me use their phone to make a call, of which in my haste I forgot to offer them payment for!! I'll never forget sitting outside on the garden chairs looking out at the view with a vodka. A truly beautiful house. Loved taking the furnicular down to Como too. Breakfast was great. Highly recommend.
Review 18:I was extremely hot when we were there and they did not have ac in the room, understandable but they also did not have any fans, it was very uncomfortable to sleep. The bathroom had been completely redone but it smell musty.
Review 19:The grounds were very nice and the staff was also nice.
Review 20:Only negative was the incredible drive up the mountain with hair pin bends and narrow roads. A little difficult to find. Not a lot to see in Brunate...it is the breathtaking view that is worth the stay.
Review 21:The staff were the owners of the property, very helpful and welcoming...old family villa renovated beautifully. Views incredible from Brunate (eagles nest). Gardens well cared for and beautiful. Trip down to Como on the Funicular is a godsend and a great experience, as you don't have to drive down again till you leave.
Review 22:Breakfast is typical Italian.
Review 23:Perfect place to stay whom like stunning views of Como lake and surroundings! Kind Kristine was very helpful to get all info about place to visit, thank You. Nice decorated rooms, clean, stylish and quiet from road, bed was very comfortable after day walks. Recomended!!!
Review 24:Located on a hilltop next to Lake Como this Villa is a true representative of class going together with qulaity. The house is wonderfully refurbished, all areas are beautiful and stylishly decorated. The view from the room is absolutely breathtaking. Cristina was a great host, answering any questions and making us really feel at home. If someone would like to indulge in class quality and for a day feel like a member of high society, you should not miss it!
Review 25:Kristina and Ty made our trip much valuable together with the well decorated, comfortable, clean and cosy villa in Brunate. Funicular is very close , easy to access Como if needed. I enjoyed meeting these people and also staying in this lovely place.
Review 26:The B&B is very close to the exit at the top of the funicular but without clear directions on which way to go and which door to enter we probably walked (uphill with heavy luggage) twice as far. Detailed walking directions and map on the website are recommended. Otherwise no complaints!
Review 27:We stayed one night at this fantastic B&B in late March 2015. The rooms, bed, bathrooms (we stayed in the Anna room, i believe) and indoor and outdoor common areas are even nicer than they seem on the pictures. If you're not driving yourself there, the funicular ride is fun and once to the B&B the view is spectacular! We walked (hiked, really) up, up, up to the lighthouse and back, which gave even wider views. Due to the timing of our stay, there were not a lot of dining options in Brunate. But Christina offered us a very lovely dinner at modest cost.
Review 28:A beautifully restored villa in Brunate, close by to the funiculare terminus. Christine is a bubbly, enthusiastic host and the garden view room we had was spacious, very clean and very comfortable. Breakfast is amazing. A great alternative to staying in Como itself.
Review 29:Believe what you read about the narrow, winding road to this beautiful place. It is worth the effort- but not on a public holiday. We arrived the day after Easter Monday, so we only experienced local traffic, but even then, it is a tricky road to navigate with tight hairpin turns and little to no shoulder off the road to move out of oncoming traffic (and a steep drop off the edges).
Review 30:Fabulous view, easy access to Lake Como via the funicular only 5 minutes walk away, beautiful room, lovely host, comfortable bed, warm room, hot shower, free wifi, free parking
Review 31:Kristina is very helpful to me and my friend. We have our car towed away and without her help, we will have great difficulty retrieving back our car. She is very kind to drive us to get back our car even though she is rushing for time to fetch her daughter. Thank you Kristina, you are a great host!
Review 32:breakfast: no real cappuccino - its filter coffee with foamy milk same cheeses 3 days in a row same 2 cakes 3 days in a row no veggies low quality pastry nowhere to put toiletries in the bathroom and shower blankets smelled a bit funny
Review 33:beautiful view beautiful villa clean nice staff
Review 34:Nothing at all!
Review 35:Everything, this was one of our favorite places to stay on our journey. We don't typically like to be right in the cities so this was a perfect location on top of the mountain overlooking Lake Como. The short walk to Bunate to take the funicular down to Como was interesting and fun. Staff were awesome and helpful, rooms are bright and airy and soooo comfortable! Highly recommend this place. The drive up is a trip in itself- loved it!
Review 36:The staff The view The rooms and all the villa is nice old villa newly renovated with great taste by the family that own and run the place Nice location in brunate near como great road to the place get a nice small car and enjoy (emphasis on small) the roads are small and challenging if you have the proper car it will be wonderful i did not but i wished it was a bitter car
Review 37:Beautiful room, to die for view, very friendly welcome. We were able to leave our car and get everywhere using the funicular (which is 5 mins away), boats or trains from Como. We had a fabulous few days - thank you very much! PS - the advice we had on places to eat were fantastic.
Review 38:Kristina and her family will look after you superbly in this stylish B&B in a tranquil setting. With cafes and restaurants only minutes' walking away, this is a great spot to take in the majestic views.
Review 39:Access is a bit difficult with a car.
Review 40:-The gorgious view on the lake. - The outstanding sense of details and quality in everything. - The friendliness of the owner. - 2 minutes walk from the cable car.
Review 41:Nothing - really this place is heaven on earth :)
Review 42:Wonderful peaceful location with amazing views over lake como. An easy trip from the city by funicular, but away from the hustle and bustle of como itself. Beautiful villa and lovely room with a great en suite shower room. The breakfast was delicious and good choice. Cannot recommend highly enough.
Review 43:The owner and staff were welcoming and helpful. The view from our room to Lake Como was stunning. We loved staying in Brunate away from the hustle and bustle of Como but only a 7min ride on the furnicula which was fun to do each day. I couldn't recommend Villa Augusta more highly.
Review 44:Chose this place to stay for our como tour with my mom, we both love it! Will definitely come back again. Thanks for the host's sweet welcoming ;)
Review 45:Breakfast was good: big variety. Though freshness of some things could be improved
Review 46:Nothing worth mentioning
Review 47:Everything was perfect
Review 48:Excellent facility, excellent scenery, excellent staff en very friendly host!
Review 49:Everything.

Review 51:Beautiful villa and our room Anna ! Our friendly and enthusiastic host, perfect breakfast - everything was just great !!!
Review 52:The most romantic beautiful place to stay in the Como area. Wonderful staff who make you feel at home. You will never want to leave!
Review 53:The road to the vilage is quite dificult.
Review 54:The locstion, the view and the worm hospitality
Review 55:All good!!
Review 56:Everything !! Great views, rooms and breakfast but Kristina And her assistant Christine made the stay st the villa a place I will return
Review 57:Roads are very narrow. Must request parking
Review 58:View was sensational 10/10!! Little village with magnificent freash produce (YUM).
Review 59:Nothing.
Review 60:The villa is situated above Lake Como with stunning views but only a short trip on the Funicular railway to the town of Como.
Review 61:The attention to detail and ambience were beyong compare. What a view!
Review 62:Great view, quiet, excellent staff, nice garden, the homemade croissants for breakfast were simply divine. We would definitely return.
Review 63:A little hard to find but worth it all
Review 64:Everything
Review 65:Nothing
Review 66:Very nice house and room Massimo went all the way to organise a perfect day on the lake incl. the rental of a boat and restaurant tips!
Review 67:Very nice B&B in a newly renovated villa, very friendly & welcoming owners, phantastic views, close to the funiculare to Como
Review 68:Just a perfect place to stay.
Review 69:Very convenient location. Also Kristina was very helpful. It is a very lovely B&B with very nice rooms
Review 70:Drive up is a bit of a challenge, but no problem during the stay, take the cable car.
Review 71:The house, the garden, the location and the view. Feels like you're visiting friends in their beautifully appointed home.
Review 72:No special unlikes just the mirror in the bathroom was to low ( for tall people)!!!
Review 73:Very nice place with stunning view, friendly hospitality , good breakfest and minibar good save private parking with electric gate, we had a lovely stay and will return soon .
Review 74:Drive up to the hotel can be very challenging. Important to take the main road into Brunate otherwise very stressful drive.
Review 75:Views from the hotel. Facilities were modern and very comfortable. Staff was extremely helpful with anything we needed.
Review 76:The road to Brunate is quite difficult. If you are not very experienced driver, I'd advise to leave the car in some parking in Como and use funicular, which stops very close to Villa Augusta and departs every 15 minutes.
Review 77:The host and her staff are exceptionally kind. We did not feel like in hotel - it felt like visiting friends. View from the balcony of room Augusta is breath taking. Delicious breakfast meals at cozy terrace.
Review 78:This is a very lovely place located in the mountain above the lake. Enjoy a nice breakfast with a fantastic view on the lake. This ancient mansion is very quiet and comfortable. Everything has been renovated with a good taste. Excellent restaurants within walking distance.
Review 79:The view, Brunate, proximity to Como and Milan, the interior of the villa, wines, tee and coffee downstairs in the salon, the breakfast, the clever parking in a kind of tricky location. The atmospere is overall very relaxed and the people running the place are very friendly.
Review 80:If only some one can stay overnight in the place during low seasons.
Review 81:Every thing, location, cleanness, decoration, breakfast, Kristina's (the owner) hospitality and advice, the staff. The owner has even gave us free rides from and to San Giovani (Como) Railway station, also she upgraded the room. Was a very pleasant stay for us.
Review 82:Difficult access by car. Converted private home so rooms are not soundproof to common hallways.
Review 83:Exceptional views to Lake Como. Good breakfast. Room and bathroom very good. Congenial host.
Review 84:It is very hard to reach the hotel if you do not have a car. After the finicular there are many stairs and it is very difficult to carry your luggage. And it is not cheap to use the finicular. Also the last one is at 22:30. Even you succeed to reach to hotel, there is not any personel to help for your luggage. The hotel has only a partial lake view. The breakfast was weak. There is not a desk to put your materials in the room and two small bottles of shampuan really were not enough for two persons for a day.
Review 85:It is new and nice decorated. The owner of the hotel is helpful.
Review 86:The coffee at breakfast was not from a machine but I think instant. When in Italy I would expect better coffee options at breakfast, e.g a cappuccino.
Review 87:The Villa is a beautiful old house which has been lovingly and tastefully restored and decorated in 2013. Kristina is a very friendly host. Great location with lovely veiws and only a short walk to the Funicular that takes you to Como. The breakfast was varied and overall good. The option for wine and coffee (Nespresso) in the lounge was a nice touch, but one must pay.
Review 88:Narrow and winding access road
Review 89:Very nice villa with comfortable rooms, stunning view, nice garden. Very clean. Friendly and cordial stuff. Rich breakfast, very nice presented in the garden.
Review 90:The drive up is a little twisty & narrow in places.
Review 91:We had a very nice room in a splendid house with a stunning view over the lake, the owners were also friendly & welcoming.
Review 92:Nothing...
Review 93:Although the roads to this hotel are narrow and difficult the location and the hotel itself are more than worth the effort to get there. The welcome was the most friendly experienced on this trip. The rooms, lounge etc. are presented beautifully and this a truly wonderful place for couples but not really suited to families with young children. Located near the funicolare this is definitely the best way to get in and out of Como. Leave the car in Brunate, use the funicolare. We loved our time here and have already made the decision to return.
Review 94:Absolutely beautiful villa at a stunning location! The villa has been renovated this year with stylish decor. The hosts make you feel very welcome - it was like staying with family. We had an amazing room with a beautiful view over Lake Como and the mountains. Can't wait to go back!
Review 95:Such an amazing atmosphere, great value for money
Review 96:The hostess, the room, the view, the breakfast, quiet location, dinner at Hotel Bella Vista
Review 97:the Villa is as advertised. I did not go to the upstairs rooms but the one we had was very good and well appointed. Highly recommended
Review 98:The villa is nicely restored and Kristina is a very friendly host!
Review 99:Fantastic breakfast, amazing views, try booking room with the lake view, totally worth it. Cozy clean place!
Review 100:The access is through narrow streets.
Review 101:Cozy, comfortable and advisable. Very kind and helpfull staff !
Review 102:the difficult way to get to the parking space
Review 103:The house, each single romm, the view, the brackfast and the host. Everything was great.
Review 104:Winding and narrow road tk get to the place
Review 105:Nice house, marvellous views, peaceful, staff very friendly
Review 106:Fantastic in every possible way...
