Reviews for Bellavista Boutique Hotel
Review 1:No lift but as it is a 10 room hotel I understand that this would be too costly to install
Review 2:The hotel has a very peaceful location which can be reached by the cable car (easily) or by car (a bit challenging) and a fantastic view The team was very friendly and service oriented and breakfast fine for the price. Restaurant has very limited menu but properly cooked of decent quality. In low season no other restaurants close by. We would probably stay there again next time in Como
Review 3:Didn't like the shower but this was a minor detail
Review 4:We loved the location, the view, friendliness of staff, the restaurant was fab as was breakfast, basically it was all good and we will stay here again.
Review 5:Room was on the small side and sadly, we didn't get a room with a view! 'Jury is out' on the staff!
Review 6:The hotel looks lovely (very stylish) and is located in a nice area with wonderful views over Como and the Alps. The view from the front of the hotel is indeed breathtaking.
Review 7:Everything about the hotel was superb. From the moment we arrived we were well looked after, our room was fantastic, as were the staff. The location is unique and the food was tremendous. Happy memories, we will return
Review 8:The staff, the location, the view, the establishment is just superb. The Funicular takes you up into the clouds some days to your hotel in the clouds, unbelievable beautiful.
Review 9:It's not really a negative but we went when Como was having a heat wave and unbeknown to us Brunate where we stayed was not allowed air con, by Italian law. Having the loft room was stifling hot, no fault of the hotels though.
Review 10:Everything, staff, food, location, hotel
Review 11:No directions to Brunate from Como. This is not hotel's issue, but prepared to spend some time driving around :)... The road in some parts is really very narrow :)... I didn't believe, when I read the reviews :)))...
Review 12:Views!!!! We had the dinner in the restaurant with the view of sunset. Don't know, if it gets any better than that. The owner was very nice, the waitress in the restaurant was great, very honest.
Review 13:- no airco - all in all quite noisy: passing cars, church-bells, other guests...
Review 14:- wonderful location and atmosphere - very helpful and friendly staff - beautiful house
Review 15:The road up from Como is a real challenge and not to be underestimated. The hotel and its parking are hard to find. The parking is very tight. The WiFi network was supposed to have a password, but in fact was open, which is not good for security.
Review 16:Great older style boutique hotel with the most amazing view and a great restaurant.
Review 17:We arrived late due to a train strike in Bergamo. We telephoned to ask if we could have dinner when we arrived at 21.00, but were told that this was not possible. We were also greeted rudely by the member of staff on duty that night, it seemed like we were keeping him, or causing problems by being late on arrival. we had been traveling since 0600am, and hadn't eaten anything, when we arrived we were so hungry and tired we just slept. the price of the room was a little expensive compared to others that we stayed at in the area. we also had to take a taxi to the hotel as the funicular was not working, costing 25 euros. A dog also kept us awake overnight.
Review 18:Beautiful interiors of the hotel, Great breakfast
Review 19:Road uphill tests your driving skills. Room was very compact, with bathroom being neat but only a box in the corner.
Review 20:Good breakfast with absoluetly unmatched view. Style.
Review 21:The staff was unfriendly and we felt most unwelcome. We felt more like intruders than guests. Orher than Breakfast the food was nothing special. We would never go back and not recommend to others.
Review 22:Loved the location, facilities were very nice, the price was reasonable and good breakfast.
Review 23:Small problem, the TV was not working but, who cares…….
Review 24:This is indeed a great boutique hotel. It’s located 10 minutes away ( driving distance) from COMO and 7 minutes if you take the telerefic train. We went for the big room with the lake view, very bright & spacious room with a small balcony that allows you to enjoy the a lake Como view from the top . Perfect view and plenty of light in the room. The room decoration is simple with some old time classic elements. Great & friendly customer service. I suggest you to also have a dinner there as the restaurant offers a big variety of Italian meals and an even bigger variety of wines. Breakfast is actually more than what you expect even from a 4 star hotel. We will definitely visit again. Perfect Internet and Wireless.
Review 25:I would advise not lugging a large suitcase up the funicular! The hot water was not working on our last morning, but this did not seem to be a regular occurrence.
Review 26:I decided to have a lazy birthday morning and use the relax area at 12pm; the cleaners let us have the room to ourselves all morning and came in when we were in the relax area.. nicely timed. We had the attic room which was lovely and roomy, and the perch ravioli at the restaurant was delicious!
Review 27:there could be more space in the bathroom to put at least your contact lense stuff somewhere.. but was not really a problem though, there was enough space in the room. (we had one of the double rooms under the roof)
Review 28:the view is amazing and the dinner we had was just great! free parking & free wifi staff is very friendly and also the breakfast was good!
Review 29:Dinner at the restaurant.
Review 30:The view from the window and the restaurant is marvelous. Good position near Funiculare down to Como. Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 31:We loved the panoramic view of the lake & mountains from the conservatory sipping Campari delightfully served by Frederica while watching the matching red sunset develop
Review 32:The building is gorgeous, it's like being part of the history. The view from the window / restaurant is marvelous and food is adequate. The journey to the mountain, where the hotel is located is extremely difficult if you're driving a bigger car. We were 6 friends with multivan, so it was like being an elephant in the matchbox. It's easier to park in Como and to get up to the mountain by the funicular. But even you decide to drive, it's amazing experience.
Review 33:Somewhat simple (maybe part of the charm) Difficult to get there By no means an international high quality hotel but again part of the charm Breakfast not great but probably typical Italian
Review 34:Authentic Italian, family-like style Long and very winding narrow and beautiful and charming road to get there Quiet, almost shy, but genuine hospitable people The VIEW, the VIEW - beautiful
Review 35:Breakfast not so much... And there's not much traffic in the village but you definitely hear everything that's going on outside, and in the staircase. Ask for a room towards the lake.
Review 36:We were getting in late at Bellavista, but they were kind enough to keep the restaurant open for us and served us a lovely dinner at arrival. Much appreciated. Lovely view from the place, nice little village.
Review 37:The heating wasn't very reliable but the weather was quite warm so not really a problem. The church bells at 7am were a surprise on the first morning!!
Review 38:Everyone associated with the hotel were friendly and very helpful. Very relaxed and chilled ambience. Jazz on the Saturday was a bonus. Good rooms, comfortable beds and powerful showers.
Review 39:The hotel is also a restaurant. We arrived early afternoon on a Saturday and felt rather unwelcome as we stood in the reception area for ten minutes as the staff ran around with plates. Eventually we got our room and it was all fine, but first impressions count!
Review 40:A wonderful location. The funicular runs till late in the evenings and is vey regular so the hotel is perfect for visiting Como.
Review 41:If you've got a big car (we were in a Jeep) then the mountain roads and walled tracks are tricky and the impatient residents of Como aren't very forgiving. Take your time and the views from the hotel are worth the climb.
Review 42:Room was well equipped and spacious, even with a travel cot. Great food for dinner as well as the inclusive breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Amazing views.
Review 43:It would have been nice to have an area to relax in in the evenings other than the restaurant or room itself.
Review 44:The view out of the room window was stunning! The room itself was cosy and tastefully decorated with handmade pieces. Bathroom was big, clean and felt luxurious. The shower was really powerful.
Review 45:No lift and that would have been appreciated since we were on the top floor. Also there was no one to help with the bags. Music from the bar was good to have but bad after you went to bed and it was still audible.
Review 46:Obviously a hotel with the name Bellavista is going to have a great view, and it didn't disappoint. At breakfast you can see the snow capped mountains, the lake and the city of Como. The room was big and comfortable. Wifi was provided and a good signal.
Review 47:Scary drive up the hill, bit difficult to find. Small rooms.
Review 48:Nice hotel with small rooms and steep stairs. Breakfast was pretty good and the staff, well, its a bit like a family run place and they had a new baby so everyone was a bit distracted. Still, enjoyed our stay comfortable bed and pillows. Really good location above Como and away from the madness there but just a short walk to the funicular so access is easy.
Review 49:Somewhat untidy/unkept approach lets hotel down. Lucky to have 2 nights of live music just a pity it was not too our taste.
Review 50:Very friendly and attentive staff always pleased to help. Excellent food with good choice and reasonably priced. Very nice room with balcony views of Lake Como and Monte Rosa. Beautifully furnished. Good position near Funiculare down to Como. Well placed for some lovely walks.
Review 51:Better to leave your car in Como and take the finicular (unless you want a few scratches and a panic attack when a truck approaches on the 9 km long and winding road).
Review 52:The personnel were as friendly and helpful as could be; the view was ubbekievable and dinner delicious. Will definitely go back someday.
Review 53:The bed was extremely uncomfortable! The mattress was old and hard as a rock, and the dogs were barking all night!
Review 54:The view from the hotel is breathtaking, and the staff and dinner was excellent!
Review 55:This was a noisy hotel. In our first night there was a crowd of young people spending their evening/night in the street across. They were breaking bottles, screaming and fighting. This continued to 2am. Rest of the evenings/nights there was this one dog barking all the time and also the noises from the restaurant were quite noisy.
Review 56:Views were great, hotel was beautiful and cosy.
Review 57:Room was a bit small and had to climb stairs with luggage.
Review 58:The breakfast, the young lady who looked after us so well making us feel so welcome.Very interesting location with the funicular railway so close to take us down to Como city. We had dinner in their restaurant with great city views.
Review 59:Small room, no airconditioning. Restaurant was a little expensive. Little choice on breakfast.
Review 60:Fantastic view, free parking and the road to it was small, but definitely doable, even fun :)
Review 61:The bed was very creaky
Review 62:Great staff and amazing location
Review 63:Very good and smily face stuff thanks...
Review 64:All of Como
Review 65:Amazing place to stay with great views over the lake
Review 66:Great hotel, helpful people, fantastic location, trendy rooms.
Review 67:Difficult and few parking places
Review 68:Location, people and fabulous restaurant.
Review 69:Excellent views the lake from the terrace. Food really good.
Review 70:Location, location, location.
Review 71:The road full of turns to reach by car
Review 72:The building and the position
Review 73:Leaving
Review 74:View.
Review 75:The receptionist was lovely but other members of staff I'm not sure.
Review 76:Everything
Review 77:The staff were lovely, so helpful.
Review 78:Everything is perfect!
Review 79:Location is perfect. Nice old design of the hotel. Very cosy and well designed room. Very friendly and comfort adding personnel.
Review 80:The views of the alps and lake are amazing. Good walk down to Torno. Very friendly staff and excellent choice at breakfast.
Review 81:Restaurant is great, location is excellent, town is beautiful
Review 82:not much
Review 83:view location staff food
Review 84:Wonderful staff, great view. I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Brunate.
Review 85:room door's sound isolation was poor
Review 86:magnificent view from our balcony
Review 87:Great access to hikes and runs and bike riding. The food in the restaurant was wonderful.
Review 88:Difficult drive up the hill for someone not used to very narrow Italian streets.
Review 89:Excellent food. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Fantastic views of Como and the lake.
Review 90:Beautiful hotel with awesome view over the lake Como toward Alps. Nice, english speaking stuff. This place is also restaurant and food is tasty. You can travel down to town Como by little bus or by funicolare. If you have a car, prepare to some serpentine roads with hairpin curves :)
Review 91:Dinner at the restaurant: the portion were too little, considering the price. And the orange dessert was just not good...
Review 92:Location (breathtaking views on the Como lake) Room, painted with the original colors of 19th centuries, yet clean and renovated Breakfast
Review 93:The funicular was closed for maintenance repairs and the alternate is a stuffy shuttle bus up the narrow twisty road . Part of my booking this was based on the funicular. Bummer
Review 94:The food, the view, the room, The little village on top of the hill, Brunate. Beautiful
Review 95:The kitchen didn't have the most basic of knives and such. A little extra care there would make a big difference. Shouldn't hav to pay for towels, work it into the price.
Review 96:Right on the river with easy walking distance to everything we needed. Quiet, clean, and well kept.
Review 97:Just keep in mind if you are traveling with lots of suitcases - you will need to get a taxi instead of funiculare - too many stairs to walk up.
Review 98:Very charming hotel. Nice decor, updated bathrooms. Food in the restaurant was great.
Review 99:An elevator would be nice
Review 100:The Bellavista is one of those rare places that feels like a real home away from home without being overbearing. At the top of a magnificent wooded mountain, one arrives at the “Hansel & Gretel” auberge. The attentive staff, comfortable & clean rooms, crisp clean air and breathtaking views of Lake Como and the Swiss Alps exceeded expectations. The restaurant is an excellent dinner choice. Mauro’s blood orange & arugula salad is one of the best salads I have ever eaten. Should you wish to walk around Como, avoid parking nightmare and take the famous Funicular located right next door. But then again - I shouldn’t be telling you this because when I want to go back, there won’t be any room for me.
Review 101:Internet reception (wifi) wasn't great in the room. Although ok in other parts of the hotel. Only an issue because I was traveling alone I guess.
Review 102:Location so close to the funicular. Hotel clean throughout, very lovely room, crisp white sheets, old fashion style but done very nicely. Nice staff, helpful. Good service. Quiet. Nice outdoor area. Would be back. Brunate is lovely.
Review 103:The drive up the hill to the hotel was a little scary - very narrow steep and curvy road. Will be a little challenging for the less experienced driver. But the reward - a view of the lake and the town of Como and the surroundings is well worth it!
Review 104:The staff is very friendly and helpful. The view of the lake Como down below is breathtaking! Combination of the modern bathroom facilities with the antic furniture of the rooms and hallways is very well executed! Overall a very pleasant experience, including on site restaurant, serving a wonderful Italian food.
Review 105:The bed was a little hard but I am starting to think that is true all over Europe!
Review 106:The view, breakfast, dinner, staff, and internet were all incredible. The funicular is literally next door (make sure to buy tickets from the little cafe). The drive up the hill was a little intimidating so we just left our car at the hotel (parking onsite!) and took the funicular into town.
Review 107:As it is located on top of hill than can be hard to reach for inexperienced driver with bigger car. For me it was not a problem. :)
Review 108:Perfect view. Friendly stuff. Great restaurant with friendly prices and awesome panorama.
Review 109:The room has not been enough cleaned, dusts and spiders around.Although the official price is 70 euros for the night as low season, we pay 125! which is the rate for high season and this is rediculous. The restaurant nothing special , except the great variety of cheeses.Expensive to the quantity and quality of food and the very poor portions.
Review 110:The location and the magnificent view from everywhere to Como.Very friendly staff (Renato), nice breakfast.
Review 111:You had to pay a cover charge for the restaurant even when you were aguest at the hotel! Food was wonderful though!
Review 112:I liked their free parking, free wifi, value for money and lovely view.
Review 113:to get to the hotel can be a challenge, I would only recommend the long drive up the hill to a very exp driver as the road is very tight and narrow, also for the view you sacrifice being close to anything in como itself.
Review 114:the view over lake como is superb, and the hotel is clean as is the room. We had dinner there, it was o.k. nothing great. The breakfast was good.
Review 115:The guest area could do with being more comfortable, the views were amazing but the patio area was not that comfortable, ie: wobbly tables & chairs because the area was not very well kept.
Review 116:The setting was beautiful & the room was amazing. We just wish we had used the Jacuzzi. The bathroom & shower were excellent , couldn't fault anything, the restaurant was nice the food was lovely & the service was good.
Review 117:- narrow roads and parking! ;-) - food selection could be greater
Review 118:- beautiful old building - Lovely (and) quiet rooms; very clean and with excellent design - great service; staff is extremely friendly and helpful - nice food and wine - amazing views from restaurant and rooms - near the funicular from center of Como - pet friendly (dogs allowed) - one of the best places we have ever stayed!
Review 119:on the arrival the parking was not free, even if it was reserved via booking, com Way to the hotel is only for experienced drivers
Review 120:Very nice view from the junior suite, cozy. Nice food and wine. Very quiet. We used this hotel for a stop to the south, for that reason i would really recommend it
Review 121:The kitchen was really poor both at breakfast and at dinner! There is no elevator since the house is probably an ancient villa. The personnel does not speak a decent English!
Review 122:The rooms are nice.
Review 123:Beds a little hard and no air conditioning (although we appreciate we were there in the middle of very unusual weather, so this wouldn't usually be an issue).
Review 124:Really helpful, friendly staff. The views are stunning - I could sit in the restaurant forever!
Review 125:Could perhaps change the menu or put on a special in the evenings. It was the same menu for all 3 nights.
Review 126:We stayed for 3 nights and drove our classic car up the hair pins to Brunate. A lovely, quirky place to stay with the most amazing views. The rooms have been restored tastefully close to their original decor. The funicular is close and handy for trips to the town of Como and the lakeside without having to move the car. The family run hotel had very helpful and friendly staff.
Review 127:Nothing - thank you for a lovely two night start to our touring holiday!
Review 128:Welcoming and very helpful staff - just great! Lovely room - quiet - beautiful old building and stunning views down over Como and lake from tables outside and restaurant - a pretty garden - excellent restaurant on site with local fare - close to funicular railway for easy journey down into Como if you wish. Lovely walks locally. Highly recommend!
Review 129:No air conditioning, slow service in the restaurant.
Review 130:Convenient to the funicular. Spectacular view to watch dinner as the sun sets over the mountains. Beautiful historical building. Friendly staff.
Review 131:We really enjoyed our stay at Bellavista. The view is fantastic and the owners are very friendly. I would stay at this hotel again if I ever return to Como.
