Reviews for Villa Signorini Relais
Review 1:Surrounding area very poor; nowhere to eat nearby and last train back from central Naples c. 9.30pm.
Review 2:Wonderful charming building in grand garden. We went in late October and place was virtually empty, which added to the ambience. Exceptional staff, especially the breakfast waiter. Close to two train lines
Review 3:WARNING: There were about 20 shots fired on our last night right outside the hotel, very scary. The area is very dirty, rubbish everywhere up the street, cars with broken windows and they all have locks on their steering wheels. We felt very unsafe there from the start. The bed was hard and the restaurant food was pre-cooked and reheated. I got food poisoning from the fish. The pictures shown are quite different to reality. The staff provide directions that vary depending on which one you speak with. The picture attached is a couple of doors down from the hotel.
Review 4:I would not recommend this hotel or area. The pictures are of the back of the hotel and my pictures of the front of the hotel would shock you.
Review 5:Stayed 1 night. The grounds are old country house style . Very relaxing away from the hustle/bustle of tourism. Found the staff very helpful when I had mislaid my passport.
Review 6:Ercolano itself is not very pleasant but was convenient for historical sites. No restaurants nearby so had to eat at the hotel and the menu was quite limited but the food was very good. Air conditioning in rooms only served to make them hotter!
Review 7:The palazzo was beautiful especially the gardens and when it was lit up at night. We were upgraded to 3 large, very comfortable interior rooms. It was an oasis of peaceful calm amidst the busy madness of the streets of Ercolano. Staff were lovely and extremely helpful.
Review 8:There was a wedding on the night we stayed and we were asked to park outside because the car park was full with cars (many of which were not even guests in the hotel staying overnight). The breakfast food was poor at best (eggs did not seem as be made of eggs, orange fruit was so old it was almost dry, the pastry tasted like overnight pastry). Room was not clean enough to go barefoot and its smells.
Review 9:Probably one of the better places to stay in Ercolano
Review 10:Most relevant thing is that the standard double room has nothing to do with the pictures. Dark, with a horible ancient and noisy building behing (within 5 meters), dirty floors and disgusting bathrooms, etc. We tried several wifi connections and NONE was working. Staff tried to be nice but were not helpful. Last, we saw bad comments on the guest book, the last of them saying "We survived!".
Review 11:Bread breakfast was the best I tasted this summer.
Review 12:Very run down area & outside of property looked run down too. Rooms weren't in the main part of the hotel & were very dark.
Review 13:Inside of main building was ok. Location to Herculaneum good too.
Review 14:The staff were excellent, friendly, and patient with our poor Italian. A beautiful setting only 5 mins walk from the ruins of Herculaneum and a great base for exploring the gulfs of Naples and Salerno.
Review 15:The hotel itself is beautiful, especially the park. Staff was friendly and helpful, The breakfast waiter especially. Room was comfortable, clean, big enough, a/c was great. Car park was close to the room, under orange trees.
Review 16:A beautiful Hotel with friendly and helpful staff. We loved it here, It was so picture perfect to sit in the gardens on the terrace in the morning or evening to eat and the food and service were excellent. Great location and very near to Herculaneum, despite other reviews we did not find the area intimidating at all. There are plenty of restaurants and shops and a market area in the town nearby, we went out for a walk in the evening and enjoyed mingling with the locals. The area may be crumbling compared to other parts of Italy but the people you see standing around are not intimidating in any way, just local residents socialising, chatting and enjoying the evening. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful, I felt safer here than I would walking in my home town at night! Wish we could have stayed longer. Great value for money.
Review 17:Area around hotel does not make one feel safe after dark, lots of Mosquitos, restaurant had no hot food but we were not told this on arrival when we asked about booking a table only when we went to eat
Review 18:The t.v. in the dinning room is not very nice when you are trying to have a nice meal, the waiter in the evening , is not very happy, he needs to smile more and he really had a B O problem , which was not nice.
Review 19:The gardens, the cars, the food was good too.
Review 20:While the hotel itself is beautiful, the surrounding area is not. The hotel has secure parking so we felt completely safe, but I wouldn't wander around at night. Also there was free WiFi but we had some trouble connecting.
Review 21:This hotel is absolutely beautiful with lovely grounds. The suite was very spacious and comfortable. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The hotel is walking distance (about a half mile) from the ruins of Herculaneum.
Review 22:Our room was not in the main beautiful building but in an annex building. Ercolane is an ugly town (by the way, visiting the ruins is a must)
Review 23:Very good people at the reception desk. Large and comfortable need. Nice breakfast.
Review 24:the room located in the villa was very nice, exept it was very close from the kitchen and the cooking smell...
Review 25:warm and helpfull welcome. the "palazzo visit".
Review 26:Ercolano the town was a bit scary at night and a bit run down.
Review 27:It was an oasis in a desert. Within the gates was fantastic, dinner at night was delicious and reasonably priced. The limes on the trees were some size. I wish I could buy them that size at home, in Scotland.
Review 28:Small room, but ok for one or two nights. Slightly Overpriced for a small room in the annex in low season ( October).
Review 29:Ample free parking Good free wi-fi Ok restaurant and reasonably priced. Breakfast is good by Italian standards. It is possible to order additional hot food like fried eggs - free.
Review 30:Very dirty including ants on the sofa; dirty bathroom; uncomfortable bed, noisy as hotel organises wedding parties; very expensive for what hotel offers. Some pictures we took say 100 times more than words......
Review 31:Staff was helpfull and friendly. Good restaurant
Review 32:Bedbugs! I am now on steroids to get rid of them. The room was in desperate need of a refurbishment and deep clean. When we went to the bar they had no glasses, no beer in the fridge, no ice and no diet coke. The breakfast cakes were lovely but the scrambled egg was freezing cold. Overall one to miss-very disappointed.
Review 33:Walking distance to the ruins.
Review 34:Bedrooms rather small no swimming pool
Review 35:the Villa Signorini is situated in an old palace and still has the grandeur and presence of its past. The dining rooms are graceful and the garden elegant. The bedrooms are functional but comfortable. Our dinner was exceptionally good and we found all the staff to be pleasant, informative and helpful.
Review 36:Approach by car from the south is precarious, it is effectively against the flow of traffic down a one way street. residents are legally entitled to do this, be warned. Best approach from north.
Review 37:Very friendly staff. Very secure. Food excellent although the menu was small. Great position for walking to Herculaneum ruins. Staying in the old building recommended. Upstairs is open to view the historic rooms and is fantastic, a must see thing.
Review 38:Taking out the key card stops all power including the AC, we prefer our room to be cool when we arrive
Review 39:Very friendly staff, average breakfast, dinner for us not suitable as we are vegetarians, but plenty of food places in Portico and very reasonable prices
Review 40:No food outlets nearby excepting reasonable pizzeria/restaurant near ruins (600m)
Review 41:Quality service in beautiful old mansion. Only good if driving (and don't mind driving in the Naples area). Good for escaping tourist location and only a walk to Herculaneum
Review 42:Hotel in a very deprived area. Lots of graffiti, broken glass, rubbish and dog mess in all surrounding streets. Breakfast choices were limited and not 4 star quality. Air conditioning in room did not work when you left the room as it needed to room key to function. This meant returning to a warm room after a long day site seeing.
Review 43:Beautiful grounds. Some helpful staff.
Review 44:Breakfast choice a little meagre, only one staff member catering to breakfast service.
Review 45:Staff Location Hotel Picturesque Grounds and garden Pet friendly Gluten-free meals
Review 46:Based in the most seediest part of town; would not walk outside at night. Service at the bar was pathetic; asked for a bottle of beer but got the remains from someone else's bottle. Service in restaurant (cook) very poor; party of 3 ended eating separately because of delays in service and or wrong dish being served. Main house very grand but rooms were in annexe. Definitely 3* if not 2*
Review 47:lovely gardens
Review 48:The mozzies! (Not hotels fault obviously) Make sure you take repellent.
Review 49:The wonderful staff who couldn't do enough for you, a few speak excellent English too. Fabulous meals sitting outside in the lovely gardens. All the food was delicious. Gated secure parking area. Having the gardens & jacuzzi to ourselves! Relaxed friendly atmosphere. Convenient for Pompeii, Vesuvius & Herculaneum (which you can easily walk to from hotel) My farewell bottle of limoncello thank u!
Review 50:The WI-FI situation was inadequate. It was difficult to get a connection from my bedroom. The meeting room was spacious with comfortable seats, but it was stuffy and warm, and if everyone in our group of 30 needed to use the internet, many could not get a connection.
Review 51:The ambiance was great, with wonderful food, staff, space and security.
Review 52:Location, facilities, no english speaking staff, poor breakfast
Review 53:Staff was ok
Review 54:longwalk to transit
Review 55:in house restaurant and staff
Review 56:Big, amazing garden and old cars standing on the property. Can hire a Ferrari for a ride. :-) Spacious rooms and good italian breakfast.
Review 57:Our room was outside of the main house
Review 58:Good location for Pompeij and Naples
Review 59:grounds, food, staff, location, room
Review 60:Loved the chance to stay in a beautiful old villa with original frescoes and mosaics. Friendly staff. Walk to Herculaneum.
Review 61:The town itself - shabby and dirty
Review 62:Nice location Very good territory Authentic atmosphere Very goo restaurant food
Review 63:Nothing.
Review 64:The staff were very helpful and eager to please They upgraded our room and all was very good Excellent breakfast and a beautiful building .
Review 65:The one way roads & construction made it hard to get a this gem right off the highway.
Review 66:The staff was warm and welcoming.
Review 67:It's just beautiful and the staff is adorable.
Review 68:No complaints
Review 69:Room was delightful, restaurant was fantastic and the location was very good for our visit to Herculeum. parking excellent and very secure.
Review 70:The jackuzi outside was available for use but was never cleaned
Review 71:Size of the room was adequate. And the bathtub was excellent. The staff were friendly and very helpful
Review 72:The area is dirty, impoverished and borderline squalid: there are no nice bars, cafés or restaurants within walking distance meaning that, other than taking a car, you are condemned to remain inside the hotel. The rooms in the garden look dank and dismal.
Review 73:The old world charm of the main building; the (genuine?) antiques in the rooms; the size and décor of the rooms in the main building; the staff especially the young receptionist who was utterly charming.
Review 74:We were put in the little three-room building on the property. Therooms were adequate but without the charm I expected from my readingabout the property.
Review 75:The staff, main building, and grounds were wonderful - as was therestaurant. The dining room upstairs is gorgeous and I would have lovedto have had a meal there but we ate in another dining room downstairs -pleasant and bright but nothing special. The food however was excellent.
Review 76:Food was not very imaginative and an extremely limited choice, same menu every day. Ercolano is lacking in decent restaurants, and needs a 12+ Euuro each way taxi ride so eating out becomes very expensive. Villa S restaurant service needs considerable improvememt
Review 77:Junior suite was good but could have been improved by a couple of armchairs
Review 78:Walking distance from the main excavation site, architecturally very interesting place to stay. If you're a Ferrari fan you can rent the car there for a couple of hours. Clean rooms, very friendly staff. Restaurant of the hotel is also very good and price was great.
Review 79:Everything, the room, the food, the staff. We had a wonderful 3 night stay within walking distance of Herculaneum site which was the initial reason for the trip.
Review 80:the only thing was the door to my room which didn't lock when closing it from the outside
Review 81:the food was terrific, the garden very beautiful, the staff so friendly and helpful
Review 82:The restaurant. I ordered a few things and when it came to me it was missing some stuff that was supposed to be with it. The area around the hotel is run down and I would not walk out at night.
Review 83:I like the room. The only thing is that it was by the road and it got noisy in the morning. The staff was nice. Close to the ruins.
Review 84:This is a very nice hotel, in a very beautiful and well maintened antique building (about 1300 years old), not so far from Pompei ruins and very close to Ercolano ruins. The staff is very kind and friendly, always ready to help you on any demand. Very charming room.
Review 85:Quiet place, close to Herculaneum, but far enough from the hastle of the city... good food, all in all a peacefull retreat, just what I was looking for, great spa and Gianfranco at front desk was very helpful.
Review 86:Restaurant closed on Sunday evenings. Very slow wifi in rooms. Walking to/from hotel in the dark not for the faint of heart (but great local restaruants if you're prepared to do a bit of research).
Review 87:Groounds of hotel are very attractive. Super food in restaurant - good value if you take the "demi pension" option. Free safe parking amongst the orange trees. good location - Ercolano & Portici accessible by foot, and Naples accessible by either of 2 railway lines.
Review 88:Traffic in Ercolano a bit of a nightmare but this is notHotel's fault.
Review 89:Although our room was in the annexe fronting an internal garden area andnot in the main hotel building it was still quite comfortable. Securityprovided at entrance to the hotel property made us feel safe and beingable to park our car off-street in the courtyard gave us peace of mind.Breakfast was good and location within walking distance of Herculaneum(arguably just as good as Pompeii) excellent.
Review 90:The air conditioning function was shut off because it was the middle of October!
Review 91:very secure oasis I in Ercolano where the neighborhoods are gritty. The room was fine, very clean modern bathroom. The restaurant offered well prepared food although a limited menu. the grounds and gardens were especially nice.
Review 92:Food a bit disappointing and restaurant service eccentric
Review 93:An oasis in an urban desert wth charming manager. Beautiful hotel and grounds, a short walk from Scavi Ercolano.
Review 94:The Hotel is situatet only 8 km from the City of Napoli and a short ride to Visuvio. A very nice and quiet hotel in the former summer recidence of the King of Napoli. Short walk to Portici with nice shoping facilities and with the best Icecreme in the world. Short walk to "solarium" Bayard Beach Club where it is possible to rent a sunbeds and use the club facilities such as showers, bar and enjoy the DJ music from 8 am and into the night. The hotel has a friendly atmosphere, and the staff is very kind to recommend spectacular, interesting and historical sights and events. The hotel also has modern and updated conference facilities. We did not use these on our honeymoon, but would not at all hesitate to recommend and/or use these facilities our selves. We would like to thank all staff and owners for a fantastic stay.
Review 95:The hotel itself was a bit run down, breakfast was poor, no bread left when we arrived.
Review 96:The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The hotel is 1 km from the excavation site of Herculaneum.
Review 97:But the suite room is located by the road so it's very noisy so we couldn't sleep well. The room is big but not separated efficiently.
Review 98:The suite room has a nice Jacuzzi.
Review 99:The location is a little remote and the neighborhood is not very appealing.
Review 100:The Villa dating back to 1730 provides the feeling you a re a baron back in the 18th century
Review 101:Most travelers will find the breakfast lacking though I don'treally care.
Review 102:It's a great villa with huge rooms with high ceilings. The food isgreat and not more expensive than other restaurants. We were given afree upgrade to a junior suite which made our stay that much moreenjoyable. If you have a car this is the hotel to stay in.
Review 103:We booked a Jun.Suite as per the product description of Booking.com. In Reality, the room did not have any garden view and no balcony. If fact, the only (small) window opens towards the interior court. Staff apologized but said they have requested b.com several times to fix the wrong descriptions
Review 104:Elegant, large room (but not a suite as advertised). Excellent food with a local touch. Close to Herculaneum ruins. Spacious garden.
Review 105:We were very impressed by the staff who were most helpful. We also found it an ideal base to visit Pompei (15 mins by rail and saves the parking hassle) and just a short walk to Herculaneum.
Review 106:WiFi didn't work in our room
Review 107:Beautiful hotel, very charming and the garden allowed us to sit outsideat night with a glass of wine! Food was also very good.
Review 108:Italian breakfast can be below expectations, but fruits and cakes canbe so nice!
Review 109:At close proximity to Herculaneum. Spacious car park and garden.Pleasant location and friendly staff. Flexible hours restaurant kitchen, with very affordable local dishes and wines.
Review 110:I had a 4 days meeting at the Villa Signorini. I like location, staff, room and facilities for meetings. Lunches and dinners provided by the villa are very good, while breakfast is rather simple.
Review 111:Very helpful and friendly staff good food excellent location
Review 112:That we could only stay one night.
Review 113:The grandeur was amazing. The security was reassuring. Herculaneum was well worth the visit.
Review 114:Lovely hotel, friendly staff
Review 115:Just around the corner from Herculaneum.
Review 116:Beautiful place, friendly staff
Review 117:Very nice staff, personal prepared breakfast with many choices. Great historic villa with beautiful park/garden
