Reviews for Locanda Milano
Review 1:- Unacceptable P/Q ratio (room was about 12m2 and bathroom 2m2) with no air conditioning. - garage proposed by Booking.com is the one of the owner and hence not available. - parking is impossible in the area while the owner (with the condition that you leave your car's key at the reception) manages to put 6 cars on the terrace... When we were there, the one leaving first in the morning had his car at the end of the queue with the inherent 'circus' of moving 5 cars to get the 6th out and then the 5 others back in ! All that done by the owners.. - more a 'pensione', maybe 'albergo' but definitely NOT a hotel !
Review 2:- Kindness of owners and personnel - Good food - Good wine list (quality wines)
Review 3:It was VERY noisy in the afternoon and evening. Kids were running up and down the halls playing "chase" in the late afternoon. At night the locals would gather in the bar downstairs. The doors were open and they would drift outside every few minutes. They closed down around 1:00 each morning.
Review 4:The facility was clean, the food was good and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location (in Brunate) made it difficult to explore the surrounding area. After making the drive up there, we felt we need to park the car until time to leave. It was a very narrow road getting there. We used the funicular to travel to Como and beyond.
Review 5:The parking is a mess The room and bathroom are tiny. The WIFI didn't really work. There was mold on the bathroom wall. The road to Brunate is challenging
Review 6:Close to the funicular. Great view 2 minutes walk from the hotel.
Review 7:The location was perfect. It was walking distance from the Funicular. The town was amazing with gorgeous views everywhere. The restaurant in the hotel had superb food.
Review 8:We just needed something easy of the highway and this worked: cheap, free parking, clean room. With only an hour notice, had a baby cot ready for us. I didn't prebook breakfast, but we decided 7€ was a great value for what they had:fresh fruit, pastries, eggs, bacon, etc. Filled us up for the day and young kids were free. Staff was really nice, had no problems with parking (we had skis and bags in our car).
Review 9:The road to get there is narrow.. as in many places around Italy :) So get there before sunset.
Review 10:Clean place. Furnished properly both bedroom and bathroom. The private parking place is tiny, but they manage it to take the cars in and out. Really close to the funicular, to go to/from Como. Fair breakfast (coffee, milk, cereal, fruits, bread, ham, juice, yogurt, no eggs).
Review 11:Too few parking spaces, mingling with the cars according to time of departure next day was necessary, but not really problematic.
Review 12:Very good restaurant, clean rooms, quiet position, very nice and professional personnel.
Review 13:wifi in your room is non-existent, you have to plug your laptop into their Ethernet cable outside in the hallway to get access
Review 14:very welcoming staff & great food, best views of como 100m down the road
Review 15:Perfect spot to see Lago di Como. Lovely room with a balcony. Easy access with funicular to Como. Everything works out!
Review 16:Noise from the restaurant while we were trying to sleep
Review 17:Guy running reception was the star of the show, really held the place together and worked hard
Review 18:En suite bathroom was cramped, very difficult for big/tall people
Review 19:Beautiful location in quaint mountain top village
Review 20:Enjoyable walking to the old town Nearby street parking
Review 21:Home made atmosphere for each tourist there. Home food, great wine and warm people.
Review 22:Follow the signs to the hotel and not your GPS' short cut. I ended up driving through some challenging narrow streets but it was well worth the experience.
Review 23:Hotel location provide beautiful view of Lake Como and the city. It was a short 5 min walk to the funicular. Hotel staff was very nice and accomodating.
Review 24:Very friendly, helpful staff. Good food, romantic setting. Excellent funicular-connection with Como saves driving and parking problems. Stunning views!
Review 25:Great restaurant, and great views from Brunate over Lake Como. Friendly staff, although we were at breakfast before they were! But, when booking, didn't realise this hotel was located .... at the top of a mountain! It's a very windy, slow road up here - not for the fainthearted!
Review 26:To future travellers who are driving cars up to Brunate, just be prepared for some narrow, sharp turns/switchbacks. There are several. The nice thing tho is that the hotel's parking lot is easy to drive right into off the main road traveling up.
Review 27:We loved the setting above Lake Como, the view is beautiful! It is close to the funicular to travel down to Como. There are a couple restaurants nearby that were wonderful & a little grocery store that was a 3 min walk.
Review 28:The bathroom was very small especially for a tall person.
Review 29:I read some reviews and was worried about the trip up the mountain viahair pin bends etc. Previous review had said it was very narrow, yes itwas but not impossible, I have been on narrower roads in Cornwall. Thishotel is in a spectacular location high above the city of Como. A twominute walk takes you to the funicular that whisks you down to the city. The hotel is old but with heaps of character. The rooms are simple butvery clean. The breakfast was excellent and there is also a restaurantopen in the evening. The parking is tight but we managed with the helpof the hotel staff who could not do more for us. Certainly worth thejourney up the hill.
Review 30:Toilet is bit too small but still usable. Breakfast could improve to add some more items like eggs, sandwich meats ect.
Review 31:Very friendly and helpful people. Very nice surroundings. Easy access to city centre by cable train. Great areal view if Como.
Review 32:The stairs up to the top floor!
Review 33:The friendliness of the staff. Village atmosphere The local residents dropped in daily for coffee or drinks after work....great atmosphere Away from the tourist bustle of Como The Funicular ride to access the hotel Definitely value for money
Review 34:The road was challenging, but once you know it doesn't seem that bad. Don't go there if you have a big big car :)
Review 35:My stay at Locando Milano was amazing. I felt like being on a honeymoon. The view over the lake Como is magnificent. The road to the hotel was a real adventure as the streets are narrow and you should be very careful because 2 cars can't pass at the same time on that tiny roads. Sometimes we had to watch out the side view mirrors in order to pass trough a street. You have a parking space in the hotel's yard but you have to leave the keys at the reception cause there is not much space so they have to move them around depending on others needs. The room was big and smelling really good, with a large balcony. We stayed there during June so the temperature was still good, I'm not sure how hot is in the summer but I don't remember if they had any air conditioning. Breakfast was good, nothing special but good - tea, cakes, cereals, ham and cheese. The area is really nice, you have the funicular 3 min away from the hotel, the funicular takes you to Como lake in 7 min, there you can enjoy restaurants very good ice cream.
Review 36:Liked just being there, no one had airs or graces, felt at home, also so comfortable and clean. the restaurant was pretty good as well. We had a great few days, look forward to returning. Mrs McCusker
Review 37:The fridge did not work even after changing rooms.
Review 38:What a lovely surprise! So high up the mountain overlooking Como. A veryhelpful family; clean room and wonderful location.
Review 39:The room was small (the bed took up most of the room) and tv had one channel (sometimes it would have been nice while relaxing to watch something- at least the news).
Review 40:Brunate was a good quiet location, easy to reach the bigger city of Como even w/o a car due to the funicolaire that runs between both times. It has beautiful views of the lake. The hotel restaurant was quite good. The people that work there were charming, kind and helpful. Wifi worked marvelously. Breakfast was good for European standards. Very clean accommodations.
Review 41:The shower is the smallest in the world I have ever encountered.
Review 42:Beautiful quaint little mountain town overlooking Como and the lake. Very nice owners. Good breakfast.
Review 43:A toaster would have made my breakfast better
Review 44:very helpful and friendly staff, good location if you want to stay in a quiet place close to Como. I would stay there again..
Review 45:Room was a bit small. Definitely the smallest 17 sq metres I have sen
Review 46:Great position overlooking Lake Como. Food was good. Great local people in Hotel Bar in the evening
Review 47:The road up to Brunate is not easy by car (too many curves and very narrow), but the funicular is 2 mins away by from the hotel and takes you directly to the centre of Como.
Review 48:The room was excellent, really clean, warm, with private bathroom. The breakfast was also good. Quality/Price ratio could not be better!
Review 49:The shower was the smallest and most uncomfortable we have ever experienced. The room we were in was small but it was a corner room with great views. Being on the main road, it was a bit noisy. But in the end, despite these cons, we would stay there again because of the strong positives.
Review 50:The location was perfect for us because it is close to the funiculare which we used everyday rather than driving up and down that very scary road. The staff was exceptionally accommodating and willing to provide us with whatever we needed and in a cheery and helpful manner. The food is outstanding and the breakfasts quite good.
Review 51:The second floor room was a little too warm.
Review 52:We were pleasantly surprised at the proximity of the hotel to thefunicular and would encourage them to advertise this aspect. The hotelstaff was extremely friendly and accommodating. We arrived late for check-in, and the staff member contacted us in advance to let us know thatthe hotel restaurant would not be open that evening and that he wouldmeet us for check-in upon our late arrival. Our room on the 3rd floorwas lovely.
Review 53:Was hard to find and was at the top of a very winding and steep road inthe mountains. However, we thought it was worth the drive.
Review 54:Very quaint but very nice place. The staff member was excellent and verywelcoming. The hotel was close to Lake Como but very high up in themountains. However, it was very close to the fernicular which took usright down to the center of Como and south part of the lake.
Review 55:We chose the Locanda Milano chiefly because of price for a short business trip and its proximity to Como for ease of access into Milan Central. We were delayed in arriving and phoned ahead to make sure we were expected. Finally arriving by taxi at 10.45pm we were greated like old friends and the words 'I saved you some fresh pasta' which could not have been more welcome for two weary and very hungry travellers. Our meal was wonderful, our beds were comfortable, our room spotlessly clean and all the staff could not have been more helpfull. We will be booking again next year. Oh, and not to mention the fantastic views by road at night looking down at the lights and the lake but the hotel is situated a moment away from the Fenicular railway which was a delight in the morning as we descended down the side of the mountain into Como.
Review 56:excellent service, Breakfast was very nice we also had drinks on the roof terrace in the evening, quiet village beautiful views
Review 57:Nights can get noisy from the bar below the rooms.
Review 58:Nothing!
Review 59:The staff is very friendly! The room is comfortable! 风景很漂亮,离上山的缆车站非常近,很方便。
Review 60:The friendly staff from this small family run hotel. The views over Lake Como which could be seen after a two minute walk were truly stunning.
Review 61:The Staff are most courteous friendly helpful, and informative, making our short stay most enjoyable Brischetto Australia
