Reviews for Andris Hotel

Review 1:With one exception the staff seemed poorly trained and the management more interested in their events and wedding business than hotel guests. The bathroom was not as clean as it should have been. Cleaning was patchy.

Review 2:The view was amazing. Dinner was good, breakfast limited.

Review 3:There was no aircondition in the dinning room where dinner us served.

Review 4:The location is very near to the way to the Vesuvus which was our main target staying in this hotel. The view from the dinning room is beautiful. It is a very quiet and comfortable lace.

Review 5:Location is up the mountain, about 15 minute ($15-20) taxi ride from the train station and site of Herculaneum. A hotel more suitable for people with a rental car. Pool closes very early, for no apparent reason (even during the day there was no lifeguard). My room also faced the walkways and outdoor eating areas, so I couldn't open my curtains and still maintain privacy.

Review 6:Beautiful view of the city below, nice pool, large comfortable room. All amenities functioned and were nicer than most b&b and small hotel amenities. Breakfast was decent.

Review 7:Poor breakfast. A part of staff very smile and obliging, a part not so much. But generally everything was without any complications.

Review 8:Comfortable, clean and quiet hotel near Vesuvio.

Review 9:-Info on website is not accurate. From train station (town center) it is a good 10 minute taxi ride that costs 20 euros. 15 minute ride to Ercolano. This property could be good for people that have a car. -We arrived a 8: pm. The pool was closed. Pool time is from 9:30 am (when tourist are already gone to Ercolano) and closes at 6:30 pm. (when tourists are not yet back from their tour). -Service is poor, only a bar employee and another person. They work as bar tenders, waiters and bus boys.

Review 10:-Place is clean and pretty.

Review 11:Food ok what we had, but found choice limited to my pallet, but that was true all over Italy. (Everything in tomatoes, yes I know i was in Italy).

Review 12:I liked the, pool, the views, the location to mount vesuvius

Review 13:Breakfast could be better. But still ok

Review 14:Great location for people with the car. Explore Naples and Amalfi coast st your own pace. Study ruins of Pompeii and Herculaneum just 10 mins away.

Review 15:Nothing

Review 16:Wonderful helpful staff, big secure car park and clean comfortable room. Special thanks goes out to Christopher in the cafe/bar...he went out of his way to cater for us.

Review 17:Wi-fi was broken upstairs (no DHCP) - it only worked downstairs. They fixed it after two days. Then our accounts expired too soon: it didn't work at all on the last day. No lift, although they offered to take our bags upstairs for us. Swimming pool rules are very strict: can't use hotel towels, must wear swimming cap and flip-flops, can't swim underwater, must shower before, can't swim without the lifeguard (who I never saw, and I only saw people swimming once in our whole stay); pool closes at about 6pm so no evening swimming (even though the pool has underwater lights). We didn't bother to swim in the end. Dinner was a bit weird: we ate lunch in "Andris café" but for dinner we had to go further, to a building which looked unrelated to the hotel. There wasn't much choice for dinner if you don't want seafood. Bear in mind that it's a 9km walk to Vesuvius from the hotel (all steeply uphill of course) and even walking to the nearest shops and back can be quite exhausting in the summer heat, so it's not a good location if you don't have a car and are unfit. :)

Review 18:Breakfast was nice (buffet of croissants, toast, meat, cake, cereal etc.; juice was a bit watery). Lovely view of Naples and the bay from room. Barman was very friendly. Reception was helpful. Lunch was delicious. Room was big and well furnished.

Review 19:Getting around was a little difficult without a car, but staff were helpful with local taxi companies. Not much vegetarian choice for dinner.

Review 20:The hotel was beautiful and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent quality. Great location for Mount Vesuvius.

Review 21:Need a taxi to get to the hotel from train station. Food very average. Some mould in the shower.

Review 22:Great view of sunset over Ischia. Comfortable good sized room.

Review 23:Far out of town - had to take a taxi up and down the hill. Only the hotel's restaurant close by. Swimming pool and sunbeds were closed.

Review 24:Great view, friendly staff.

Review 25:Characterless. Access road narrow. Staff not very friendly. Food disappointing. Breakfast very slow and little choice.

Review 26:Very clean and quiet. Good parking opposite hotel. Spacious room.

Review 27:Restaurant food not great, and up a lot of stairs. Directions to Herculaneum site could have been better. We got lost! Nightmare driving in Ercolanum. Better by taxi!

Review 28:Actual hotel was lovely. Good facilities and staff. Breakfast very good value at 5 Euro

Review 29:the staff at the bar is a bit slow and very formal. There is no sphere, it's a bit cold and businesslike. This is done I think deliberately, furniture, music, everything seems to target a lounge, businsesslike congress atmosphere, has nothing to do with tourists staying in Naples. The position f the hotel is not very nice. You can't get out in the evening to take a walk or something, the centre of Ercolano is terrible, intimidating, chabby environment. pool closes too early

Review 30:rooms are nice rooms are big breakfast is ok staff is friendly and speaks English nice pool, drinks expensive parking is safe

Review 31:That the pool closes at 06:30pm. After the day trips we did we wanted to swim a little bit longer than just a half hour. It would be better if they keep it open longer.

Review 32:The hotel is located close by the vulcano Vesuvius. It has a stunning view over the city Naples and the sea. The staff were friendly and helpful in giving advice what to do and where to park your car.

Review 33:Dinner served very small portions, you have to drive through a bad, ugly neighbourhood to get to the hotel.

Review 34:Very good price, nice rooms, great helpful staff, beautiful view over the ocean. Very romantic.

Review 35:staff bar/ restaurant

Review 36:Location, in a residential neighborhood bad roads to drive too

Review 37:Nice rooms

Review 38:The city around is a little bit difficult to get around with a car.

Review 39:To those going up to the Vesuvio, it is a very good location.

Review 40:The restaurant was just okay and the hotel was a bit isolated.

Review 41:The room and surrounding hotel grounds were excellent,

Review 42:Nothing to complain about!

Review 43:Beautiful location, wonderful stay!

Review 44:Friendly helpful staff, great facilities

Review 45:bed bugs

Review 46:Great service

Review 47:Food was mediocre

Review 48:Rooms Massive, Pool superb, views wonderful

Review 49:I found human hair in my room and in the bathroom, so not happy with cleanliness

Review 50:The location and the facilities were nice and the staff was friendly.

Review 51:Room decor needs to be updated

Review 52:The location, the bar, the swimming pool and the view

Review 53:Very nice staff, comortable room and beautiful view from the hotel.

Review 54:A very relaxing little hotel. Very comfortable

Review 55:Wonderful view. Furnitures, hotel feels like new. Very good breakfast. Great pool area. Free parking. Can not think any better for the price.

Review 56:Metal staircase for the secondary entrance on the right side of the building was very noisy. The breakfast was poor.

Review 57:Nice room and great location.

Review 58:The receptionest does not speak very good English.

Review 59:Location, hardware, decoration ofthe bedroom and etc.

Review 60:wifi not available in our room breakfast was very limited

Review 61:location and view

Review 62:Breakfast was only ok.

Review 63:Hotel is best choice if you want to discover Pompei, Napoli and Vesuvio.

Review 64:The hotel is so beautiful that it hosts weddings and their parties. This brings noise. You must bring earplugs if you want to get any sleep.

Review 65:We loved the location and the views if you are interested in exploring Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius. The location of the hotel on the mountain was wonderful and a great surprise.

Review 66:No negative comments - it was unfortunate for us that at the time of our visit the pool was closed as it was being cleaned, so we can't comment on it.

Review 67:We stayed here for 4 nights. Overall, I would recommend a stay here if you want a pleasant, conveniently located hotel that does all the basics right without unnecessary fuss or costing the earth. Below are the details. The hotel is a converted Vesuvian mansion located part-way up the volcano. It's easy to get to the top from there and is only a few miles from the Naples - Sorrento motorway for Pompeii etc. Alternatively, the local train station is a 10euro taxi fare away and its less than 2euros from there into Naples. The bar / restaurant is an L-shaped conservatory that overlooks the pool and then down the mountain onto the Naples bay and islands. The views are great and the evening breeze is welcome. It has a modern look and feel to it, yet still manages to blend well with the mansion - stylish. Breakfast is continental. Lunch isn't served. Dinner is available and, contrary to previous reviews, we found it good. At the time we were there the food came not from the hotel itself but from a separate nearby restaurant; we assume because it doesn't make economic sense to have a full service kitchen. One night we were taken to this restaurant and were surprised to find that it's actually linked to a private, upmarket establishment (Villa) that appears to be more than 3-star rated. Our room was very clean, spacious, had a safe and everything was in good working order. The atmosphere was relaxed and informal. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Their knowledge of english varied, but we were always able to make ourselves understood and vice versa.

Review 68:Nothing - great hotel

Review 69:Great location - just a short drive up to the volcano. Breakfast was excellent - continental. Would have loved to have tried out the pool but we only stayed for one night and then moved on!

Review 70:A long way from habitation, restaurants etc. Not convenient without a vehicle!

Review 71:Very clean. Manager and staff very helpful and friendly. A hotel great for relaxing and "chilling"!

Review 72:Air conditioning problems had to go in middle of night to ask for help and guy cldnt understand and did not fix problem. Hotel needs a lift

Review 73:Comfortable rooms nice facilities

Review 74:Just a bit dicey to get to via very narrow streets (especially since it was pouring down rain late in the afternoon) although the nav app we used got us pretty darn close.

Review 75:Very helpful staff at check-in. We checked in late after a BIG Sunday lunch elsewhere so we did not get a chance to try the restaurant. We did however go down to the bar for evening drinks and the bar staff was very friendly and helpful. Had to leave at 4:15 AM so didn't get a chance to try breakfast. The room (#203) was very nice although with the window open we could hear the front doors squeak every time they opened and closed (probably due to the rain). Would definitely choose this hotel again.

Review 76:The restaurant was expensive with fairly unimaginative food. Expensive to move between Ercolano town and the hotel by taxi. Buses were unreliably infrequent. Walking was possible but you walk on a road dominated by cars - no footpath! Breakfast was poor, limited in the food it offered. Fresh fruit if available was basically Kiwi fruit. Items kept running out and were not replaced on occassions. The worst aspect of the visit was the behaviour of one of the bartenders in the cafe. When asked repeatedly to turn down the loud music by all the people in the bar area, he refused to do so, and indeed was offensive.

Review 77:The peacefulness of the location. Rooms were simple well appointed and kept clean and comfortable. Reception desk was helpful.

Review 78:Not much..no complaints

Review 79:Staff were friendly and helpful and quite understandable even though we spoke no Italian and only a couple of the staff spoke good English Room was very comfortable We would definitely stop there again!

Review 80:The hotel is a bit out of town and not on a bus top (but close to one). If you have a car, and they have plenty of parking, the location is great. The views are wonderful. Restaurant was fine.

Review 81:The staff, Barbara and Philapino, were excellent. Very knowledeable and willing to help.

Review 82:The hotel is in a very quiet area, far away from the city. I would not recommend you to walk there as some of the parts I drove through did not seem safe. There are quite a few left/ empty/ burnt down buildings and you would not want to be walking around there. The hotel itself is very nice, modern and quiet. The room was specious, the staff helpful and the hotel car park is for free (not like in most places I stayed). Overall, my stay in this hotel was a nice surprise after being in a few disappointing places on my way through Southern Italy.

Review 83:Food and drinks too expensive. A bit too isolated in the National Park, but then again this is compensated by the views!

Review 84:Staff very friendly and helpful. Views across Bay of Naples from room and terrace excellent

Review 85:produce at breakfast are a bit limited in choice for this price range. no lift for 1st floor (or service to carry luggage upstairs)

Review 86:The superior room was superior in size, cleanliness and number of bed cushions..! And above all it was very well lit..! View on Vesuvio park was not the best. The guys who serve (good) coffee at breakfast are true hosts! Friendly, quick and very customer orientated. Romolo deserves promotion! Parking is great, hotel reception is a bit anonymous, despite me speaking Italian. Views from terraces are spectacular. Good spot for travellers by car who are central to most sights in the area. Perfect rooms with a true view..!

Review 87:Directions to the hotel were incorrect with signage taking us down a street which was no longer a through road. Meals being served from a glass enclosure in the garden resulting in a cold atmosphere. Food was being transported from the kitchens in thermal boxes resulting in cool food and delays in serving. Loud jazz music piped into the dining area.

Review 88:Wonderful views of the bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. Friendly , helpful staff and efficient receptionists. Evening meals were creative, well presented and reasonably priced.

Review 89:Might be a little difficult to find without satnav.

Review 90:Ideally situated for the site of Herculaneum or an overnight stay prior to a flight from Naples, this hotel offers excellent value. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly, there is covered parking and a good restaurant with magnificent views from the terrace over the Bay of Naples.

Review 91:The limited hours of the pool- it was closed as we arrived around 18:00 from a long drive The extra charge for the pool should we have been able to use it.

Review 92:The proximity To the volcano The view of the restaurant and its affordable menu The comfortable beds

Review 93:The Andris cafe, although stylish, had the worst food we've experienced in Italy and quite expensive drinks. I would recommend going to the pizzeria down the street. The pool area had strict rules about towels and water that left us feeling a little disappointed.

Review 94:Good value for money. Nice and clean room with plenty of amenities. Friendly service and beautiful view.

Review 95:The staff is average, one irritating aspect is the fact that there was a smell like a toilet refreshener.

Review 96:It is a good price value relation and relatively clean in a quiet environment. And has quiet a nice view. It's a good option if you go by car.

Review 97:Access road very off putting, lots of rubbish on road, narrow badly surfaced road, scarey looking neighbourhood.

Review 98:Great location for Pompeii Fantastic views over Naples Large rooms, recently decorated, good food. Friendly staff

Review 99:The hotel is located in Ercolano, not a city you would like to explore. From the other hand, it is a good base for visiting Napoli & Pompeii. The neighborhood where the hotel is located is ugly, and the hotel is 4 km from the railway station, so you will always need a car or taxi. However, the near city, Torre Del Greco, is a good place to spent the evenings there. Another (but not significant for us) issue was the breakfast which was very poor.

Review 100:The hotel is beautiful, clean, and very well maintained. Everything looks new. The room is big and very nicely decorated. It has a Café around the clock and a fancy but affordable restaurant (open in the evenings) where you can eat. It has a nice swimming pool but we did not use it because of the weather. The crew is polite and helpful.

Review 101:The restaurant! Thought it was a joke at first - that we'd stumbledinto a Fellini film set. The food though was genuinely nasty - despitethe attentive service. The salad was one one the most unpleasant pilesof inedible material I've ever been confronted with. The pappardellewas grossly over-salted - but hunger forced me to eat it. Stay at thehotel, but go out for supper! The breakfast was also poor - stale rollsand surly service.

Review 102:Fabio very friendly and helpful. Room with a view - clean and well-furnished. Easy accessto Vesuvia - and a 10 euro taxi ride fromHerculaneum and the Circumvesuviana.

Review 103:The Restuarent at the hotel just don't go there. The service was not acceptable. Find a pizza nearby.

Review 104:The location is perfect for seeing Vesuvio, Pompeii and heraculum (don't miss that). Friendly reception and bar.

Review 105:No lift, confusing signage at entrance ( did not understand to go down the "alley").

Review 106:Service, attention to detail, staff's ability to speak English, quiet location, beautiful views, good food & easy access to area sites.

Review 107:Quality of breakfast did not match the wonderful setting. The plumbing was not up to the quality of the hotel.

Review 108:Beautiful location;great room. Receptionists very helpful and efficient.

Review 109:Pool access expensive; Access to restuarants a little difficult - thepizza/restaurant recommended for walking to was half closed and theservice poor (the food was okay),

Review 110:Attractive decor; pleasant places to sit; clean, well equipped room;excellent staff; easy parking; proximity to Vesuvius and Ercalano.

Review 111:The only bad thing about the hotel: you have to pay an extra fee per person to use the swimmingpool. That's rather unusual for us! So keep tat in mind if you're deciding by that factor.

Review 112:A great choice price and comfort-wise if you, like us, are travelling to Naples by car and don't want to get involved with th traffic mess of the city. You can left your car safe near the station and then proceed to beautiful yet decadent Naples by train, a 30 min ride to the center. If we havent stayed here we probably would'nt have visited Ercolano ruins which are worth a visit as much as Pompeii. For us, a great deal of surprise!

Review 113:If the hotel likes to have some foreigners in their (new) swimming pool, they should adjust the pricing - or somehow include it in the price.

Review 114:The hotel smelled like lemon all the time. The receptionists were all very helpful. Any problem could be solved by just asking them! Internet reception was more than ok for the area and most of the outside views are just astonishing.

Review 115:You would need a car I think to stay at this hotel as it was a littleout of the main area.

Review 116:I would recommend this hotel, the staff were very helpful and went outof their way to help me when my luggage had got lost at the airport. Itwas beautifully decorated with lots of areas to sit and relax - we hadan excellent stay. The staff on reception fantastic !!

Review 117:All very good. The room, location, comfort! The hospitality andthe reception was excellent. We would like to thank the attentionand kindness of Mr. Fabio. Highly recommended. Great startingpoint for Vesuvius!---- Tudo muito bom. O quarto, a localização, o conforto! A hospitalidade e a recepção foram excelentes. Nós gostariamos muito de agradecer a atenção e cordialidade do Sr. Fabio. Muito recomendado. Ótimo ponto de partida para o Vesúvio!

Review 118:The area around the hotel is not very nice.

Review 119:Very good, nice and new hotel. In that area are many hotels and we are very glad that booked this one. Personal was very friendly, rooms was perfect. There is a parking place near the hotel. This hotel was the best in our trip. 200 metres from Hotel is the restaurant were is possible to get very good pizza.

Review 120:It was perfection---there is nothing not to like about this place, and Iam not easy to please.

Review 121:The hospitality of this hotel exceeded all expectations. Barbara, at thefront desk did everything for us---Travel, weather, and diningarrangements. When we didn't want to drive for dinner, Barbara arrangedto an amazing 3 course meal brought to the hotel, and served privatelyto us. She asked for my wish list menu, and it was presented over 3hours, with perfection. They charged a 10% service charge for theprivate chef and server--we tipped in additon, because the experiencewas amazing. Breakfast was perfect--fresh fruit & pastry, juices, cereals--and coffee drinks to order. Beers, wines and snacks were delivered to us(at reasonable cost) on the terrace in the afternoon, when we requested. The best total travel experience, ever. With gps, it was easy to find--the location and service is worth the drive. Thank you Barbara--you madeour visit perfect. We shall return.

Review 122:We were fortunate to follow our companions to the hotel from Ercolano but they initially had difficulty finding the hotel upon their initial arrival.

Review 123:Although we arrived late at night, we were welcomed by staff and helped by front desk with luggage. Very friendly. We were with two other couples and shortly after entering, we gathered on the bar area for some drinks and conversation. Again, although it was late, the staff was very accommodating and friendly. Upon asking info regarding weather for the following day, we were given a print out from the computer instantly. Our room was spacious and decorated beautifully, the desk and restaurant/lounge were decorated in a very contemporary manner. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast with coffee made specifally to everyone's order. I wish we good have stayed longer to enjoy this hotel.

Review 124:The hotel is on the outskirts of Ercolano, which is a small and poorvillage with narrow one way roads which are in a 'not very goodcondition'. The hotel therefore is fairly difficult to find. And to findyour way from the hotel to the historical site of Ercolano is quitestressfull too (and further than we expected). The next time I woulddefenitly stay in the center of Ercolano near the historical site, oreven better, I would simply stay in Napels and take the train. Also wehad dinner in the hotel's brightly lit 'restaurant'. I can be very briefabout this: 'avoid'. We had many lovely dinners with good food in thesouth of Italy, but this was not one of them.

Review 125:The room was large and clean.

Review 126:1st class service, it's own private parking and plenty of it, the size of the room and the quality of the bathroom, the luxury of the place at the price level. Value for money wise, we don't believe we've stayed in better places.

Review 127:The cleanliness and friendly, efficient staff.

Review 128:Everything, so clean, comfortable, hospitable and luxurious.Everything was beyond our expectations and have already recommended tofriends and family.

Review 129:Could faintly hear thumping music as trying to get off to sleep. No restaurant at the hotel.

Review 130:Rooms very clean and nicely decorated. The family room was very spacious. Reception staff pleasant and efficient. Breakfast was ok and room very funky.

Review 131:You will need a car and it is a bit hard to find----worth it though!

Review 132:I love this hotel---all is new and modern and the setting is lovely. Thestaff is very helpful, too. I really love all the beautiful outdoorseating areas---so beautiful.I highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to see Ercolano, Pompeii, or Vesuvio.

Review 133:The hotel is too far from the Circumvesuviana train station (forPomepii, Herculaneum, Villa Oplontis, Naples). The hotel operates one free shuttle to/from the station per day, but if you return to the hotel and then decide to go back to Ercolano town centre in the evening, it will cost Euro20. This adds considerably to the cost of staying in the Andris.

Review 134:We ate in the restaurant which was set up as a very white wedding venue which was surreal. Food not great for me

Review 135:. Staff great.

Review 136:Welcoming and very new.

Review 137:Difficult to find from Motorway & because it was a bank holiday service was restricted.

Review 138:Good rooms with spectacular view. Helpful staff

The Fine Print

Please note that the pool is open from May until September.
