Reviews for Puntaquattroventi

Review 1:Excellent location on the coast - great views. Finding the hotel is a small challenge but worth it. Staff friendly and went the extra mile as it was a little out of season. Restaurant meal was a highlight of our trip.

Review 2:Wi Fi didn't work in the room. Need to go to the reception to connect to wi fi All room design and toilet facilities are old.

Review 3:Nice view from the balcony

Review 4:The hotel is in Ercolano which is not very pleasant, felt unsafe! Not a place to visit if you are on your own or without transport

Review 5:The hotel was wonderful

Review 6:The Internet was on and off, and we needed to book flights and book a hotel. Managed it in the end though.

Review 7:The salt water pools were amazing, and the staff were all very polite and helpful. The breakfast buffet was great, with freshly baked sweet pastries and cheese, cold meats, toast, toastie machine, fruit, croissants, yogurt and more. The beaches were rocky and the view was incredible.

Review 8:Bathroom was squishy with toilet taking second place to the bidet. Pillows were terrible. Was quite far from both train stations.

Review 9:Restaurant food was great. Pool was great. Very helpful staff. Found a new use for the bidet, washing machine. Lovely view over pool and beach.

Review 10:There isn't much around the hotel and if you don't have a car, walking to the nearest restaurant is a bit much after a long day of walking around Herculaneum.

Review 11:The oceanview room and the patio was sooo relaxing! Walking into an air conditioned room felt so great too. The staff was very nice. Access to the pool and the water is fantastic!

Review 12:I did not like Outsiders using the facilities. Became very overcrowded. Did not like smoking in area were we were eating. Smokers were able to smoke outside areas where we were eating.

Review 13:The reception staff were excellent and very helpful. The food was very good. 4 swimming pools. Nice beach. Beach and pool staff very good.

Review 14:The hotel is the only facility within the area. No restaurants nearby, the town in a good 15 mins walk away and it is very very quiet. Hotel WIFI only works in the lobby. Gym is old. The hotel looks like it used to be really nice, but the facilities have not been kept up.

Review 15:Really friendly staff, and central location to Naples, Sorrento, Pompei and Capri. Nice beach, but swimming in the sea is impossible, great pools.

Review 16:The maitre d in the restaurant was very rude and unwelcoming favouring locals over hotel guests and giving two very obviously different levels of service.

Review 17:The concierge was incredibly nice and extremely helpful.

Review 18:breakfast was poor, expensive, limited choice and set in a cramped area - needs to be served in a bigger room. WiFi did not work in bedrooms. Immediate location not desirable - no where to walk or explore immediately outside of the hotel complex.

Review 19:Swimming pools and access to beach. Located nr to Pompeii and Vesuvius

Review 20:It's dated but I can imagine once upon a time was a stunning grandiose venue.

Review 21:Great beach and swimming pools. They do get busy but it's not overcrowded and there is plenty of the sea for the serious swimmers. Good location for exploring Vesuvius, Soritano, Naples, a bit of a walk to the train station (25-30min) but you're on holiday! Excellent restaurant! Really good food, don't look any further if you're staying in the hotel! Breathtaking views!

Review 22:Wifi did not work very well

Review 23:Excellent value for money for. Naples bay hotel with its own small beach and pools- great location on little cape into the sea ( recommended to have car or not mind 20 min walk to train), super restaurant, enormous swimmingpools ( busier in weekends but even then plenty of space), staff very friendly and helpful; old hotel so some areas are dated, but everything very clean, well maintained etc.

Review 24:Eraclano is not nice. The hotel location is however very convenient for Vesuvius, Heracleum and Pompeii and is much better than the town itself.

Review 25:Rooms were large, clean and well equipped. Swimming pools were great. Food was excellent with a fantastic terrace restaraunt.

Review 26:There was no where to get coffee during day and there was a bar but not manned ,so we ended up drinking in our room .the internet was non existent. The hotel looked a bit tired needed some TLC.

Review 27:In good location if you had a car to get around . Lovely pools .restaurant was good but would not want to eat there every night need to experience other places to eat but these weren't were few and far between in Ercolano.

Review 28:It is not 4* hotel, but it is excellent 3* hotel. Monotonous breakfasts.

Review 29:Very good location, nice private beach with sufficent amount of deckchairs and umbrellas. Access to sea need improvement badly.

Review 30:There is no Beach it is rocks . We could not even bear to stay 1 night. Wi Fi was available, intermittent connection would be an understatement... Swimming with food at the end of the day due to this being a public swimming pool and lots of day trippers. My overall score has come up as 2.5 but I would not even give it a score. Another couple trying to get refund at same time had urine and 'other' stains on their mattress and toilet dirty from previous peoples stay.. to put this into 'budget' category is wrong as it is expensive for what you are getting.

Review 31:If you were looking out to sea and not facing the property that was nice.( don't look down otherwise you will see rubbish scattered on the rocks) . ...................... apart from that absolutely nothing.

Review 32:Too many sweet things for breakfast - no eggs, bacon. Staff in the restaurant did not listen to our orders. Food for the group came at different times so we were not able to eat together. Food came very late one night - one of our group was given food after 30 minutes, the rest of us had to wait another 50 minutes by which time we were too tired to eat. The waiter didn't seem bothered and didn't apologise. The beach wasn't what we expected - pebbles, massive boulders in the way so that the sea was not accessible, and it was a very short strip behind the hotel. The bed wasn't uncomfortable but it was a bit lumpy. You needed a car to get to anywhere of interest away from the hotel although we did get the train to Pompeii. We felt a bit stuck at the hotel as there was nowhere to walk locally.

Review 33:The salt water swimming pool was lovely. The food in the restaurant was very good. The staff on reception were very helpful. The sea views were stunning. We were on actually on the sea shore.

Review 34:Wifi non existent, swimming pool jammed with people from outside the hotel, breakfast would be all right for a 2 star hotel.

Review 35:Excellent restaurant in the evening overlooking the Naples bay and the hotel swimming pools. Excellent food for a very affordable price, very friendly staff too.

Review 36:Rooms are in desperate need of maintenance, the pool is open to outside public and gets REALLY crowded during the morning. The wifi is patchy at best and the included breakfast is very, very basic. If it were for me, I would drop one star of the hotel (it is not a 4 star hotel)

Review 37:Well located, close to main attractions in the surrounding area. Nice sized pools and staff is acceptably friendly

Review 38:The whole area of Ercolano, Torre del Grecco, Torre Annunziata until Pompei, are the ones who where completely destroyed, by the Vesuvious eruption and so they remained a little bit degraded. BUT the hotel is an Exception!

Review 39:It was a very nice hotel to stay and relax for a few nights! It is like an oasis in the desert! Rooms are very spacious and they change towels and clean every day! Also, there are 4 pools with sea water to swim into and other exceptional facilities.

Review 40:Avoid. Horrible breakfast, no internet, dirty private beach full of rubbish, uncaring staff who lost our room key, ignored by waiters in restaurant, dirty room and shower didn't work, housekeeping threw out our plane tickets, lightbulbs missing, 30 minute walk to nearest train station. No way is this a 4 star hotel. Pool open to the public. Music until 2am and kids running through corridors of hotel at midnight.

Review 41:Nothing.

Review 42:Quiet. Middle of nowhere. Pools opens to public. Rubbish breakfast. Nothing to do outside of hotel.

Review 43:Brilliant pools. Beautiful views. Lovely restaurant (delicious deserts).

Review 44:Not many people spoke English the pools were great if you could get in them I didn't get to go in as it was packed with Italian people from the time I stayed I spoke to reception he said best time to go is 6oclock not good enough as I was on my own

Review 45:The room was ok the restaurant the food was good

Review 46:If you want a luxury Hotel this is definitely not for you. A little Forty towers about it and its dated but comfortable and so friendly and relaxed

Review 47:Friendly helpful staff

Review 48:The pools where public and where way to busy, Staff where rude, would only serve the Italians and barely spoke any English. The Hotel was very run down and dirty. Plus they overcharged us 170 euro

Review 49:There was a nice view and close to places of interest

Review 50:The female manager has never heart of hospitality; a minimum requirement is to reply a greeting. Also a warning in advance for a very moisy party should be normal. It al adds up to the impression that she doesnot give a damn about her guests.

Review 51:the view at the sea The fantastic food and the exellent management in the restaurant

Review 52:Very isolated location to far from any other civilization. Streets are filthy and littered with dog faeces making it most unwelcoming. When we arrived after walking from the train station the receptionist man was not inviting at all and we felt that we an inconvenience. This was the first place, and we are very easy going, that we have ever felt uncomfortable staying and we left 2 days earlier than planned.

Review 53:Views from room are lovely, the hotel restaurant served nice food. Swimming pool area is lovely.

Review 54:air conditioning not to be turned on until later in May so our room was far too hot. Sheets were not changed at all and we stayed a week.

Review 55:Friendly helpful staff especially at breakfast.

Review 56:I didn't like seeing a green pool. The room is very basic. The breakfast is very basic, no fruit or good bread. The cappuccino was cold.

Review 57:This hotel is obviously not ready for the spring. It is not in a great area. Lots of graffiti and trash all around.

Review 58:make sure to pre plan your route from the airport thoroughly (get the circumvesuvia train from Napoli central to torre del greco) the information staff at the train station gave us the wrong information and we ended up having to get a very expensive taxi from the station!

Review 59:staff were especially helpful and friendly. Location is very strategic, we easily travelled to Pompei, Napoli, amalfi and Capri throughout the week. Also excellent if you want to hike Vesuvius which we didn't get chance to.

Review 60:Not a good neighbourhood. Lots of graffiti everywhere nearby. Hotel car park very neglected and full of rubbish. Had to walk round the outside of hotel to get to pool. Breakfast poor. Service in restaraunt poor.

Review 61:Great location for Vesuvius and Pompeii. Clean. Comfortable bed. Food good for dinner in restaraunt. Spacious room with lots of storage and balcony area.

Review 62:The only down side if you can call it a down side was that the hotel was situated in a rather depressed with few facilities/shops within easy walking distance. You will find these areas in any country. The hotel provided well used sunbathing/swimming facilities for the local area which was far better than having a whole pool to yourself that was not maintained. Having walked around the area, you could meet the local people who were quite happy to smile and acknowledge you. It wasn't a problem getting taxis from the hotel if you didn't have your own car.

Review 63:The hotel although to a degree dated was unique in its character. When you visit foreign parts you have to accept different styles and perhaps querks of the loaction in which you are staying. Most of the rooms had a sea view overlooking one of the saltwater pools that were available to the guests. The balconies were full of character with planted areas in front and lovely traditional clay tiled canopies. The areas were kept very clean as were the bedrooms which have been kept well decorated and very good bathrooms and you are also provided with a lockable safe and fridge. Breakfast was taken on a veranda area or just inside. Continental style breakfast on offer including meats, cheese, museli, cereals, fruit, eggs, toasts, cakes, croissants, and to die for pastry twists and shortbread offerings. Coffee or other drinks served to your table. Guests of the Hotel had free use of a private beach and two large saltwater pools. There are smaller pools suitable for children. What is particularly special about the pools is that they are very well maintained being cleaned every day and treated with chemicals to ensure the water quality and cleanliness. We chose the hotel as it was suitably positioned between Naples and Pompei and had within walking distance their own Herculaneum Site. If walking a problem reception would order a taxi for you. Most short journeys would cost you 10 Euros. Train travel between Ercolano and Pompei or Naples was pretty cheap between 1,70 & 2,20 Euros per person depending upon which station you depart from. Staff were very attentive. Any problems and they could not do enough for you. The food was excellent and very well priced compared with UK prices. It was a good base from which to travel to the popular tourist spots of Hurculanium, Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius.

Review 64:Hotel is very tired. Needs a reno. Location was a bit sketchy so we.didn't go outside the compound after dark. No restaurants, stores nearby.

Review 65:Great, friendly staff. Very helpful. Food in restaurant was pretty good.

Review 66:We thought we had found a hotel close to Herculanum, but this hotel is in the nearby town. Without a car, this was difficult to reach from the train station (20 minutes walk with luggage through rundown areas), since it is Very Very Very hard to find taxis in this part of Italy (We experienced the same in Pompeii). Taxis do hardly drive in the evening, and if they do, they are so hard to find. We were at a restaurant that was not able to call a taxi for us at 22.30 on a saturday evening.. So only stay in this hotel if you are satisfied with staying in at the hotel all evening. If you do stay there in the evening, there is nothing happening there, the restaurant is almost none existant (we were hoping for lights and wine by the pool, but that area was dark and empty). We did however get to buy a bottle of wine by a very helpfull, overworked desk attendant. This might be a more lively hotel in the summer, but was not in september. We also thought we could swim in the mediterraenean here. But the waters seemed dangerous, with high waves and hard rocks. Frankly we expected more for the price we paid, but the place was nice enough. We had ordered a bottle of wine to be waiting at us in our room upon arrival. Even though they said they could fix it, they must have forgotten.

Review 67:The pool area was nice, though we had hoped to swim in the sea as well. Large room with a very nice balkony, large bathroom (the loom was strangely put in the corner almost under the sink, so that the bidè got the best place in the room). Clean and ok. The view and the balkony was the best! Nice breakfast, with good caffee. The bed was a bit hard. When we did not get hold of a taxi back to the hotel, they called one for us, and made sure we got home safely. Very nice! The young man at the desk at the saturday evening was so helpfull and nice!!

Review 68:Room and bathroom felt as though they hadn't been used (and therefore thoroughly cleaned) in a while Location, don't think we realised the exact location until trying to find the place.

Review 69:Swimming pool Friendliness and helpfulness of staff

Review 70:the wifi could be stronger in some rooms, but this helped to stop work and relax more so in the end it was a positive!!!

Review 71:I liked the hotel and the view was great the swimming pool amazing and the staff so good.

Review 72:Very old and worn down Restaurant, very low quality. Breakfast absolutely not even two stars, only the view when having breakfast is beautiful.

Review 73:Location, close to all sight seeing. Pools, large and very nice View over the Mediterranean and the Vesuvius

Review 74:Swimming pool is open to public apart from the hotel guests and it gets really crowded and noisy since very first hour.

Review 75:Location with nice view of the Naples Gulf

Review 76:We had a great view at the sea, Sorrento and Capri on the left and Napels on the right. Reception, Mina, Rosaria and Romeo, very helpful and very nice and friendly people. Thanks!!!!

Review 77:Just south of Naples, the property was a bit of a challenge to find, but we took the GPS navigational advise posted on their website. It was far enough outside of the city limits to give you a secluded feel. The pool is also used by the locals, so daytime lounging was not as peaceful as the pictures may portrait. The pool bar staff didn't warm to my English speaking background and the dinner staff were too hands off.

Review 78:The property had it's view going for it. Vesuvius to the rear and the soft flow of the Sea to the front. Dinning outside under the stars with Napoli city scape and it's gleaming lights were definitely a highlight. Breakfast on the terrace was also breathtaking with Island of Capri in view. Parking was offered free of charge and closely monitored behind the video surveillanced gates.

Review 79:Surrounding area is fairly disadvantaged

Review 80:Staff couldn't do enough to help - very friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. Can't praise them enough.

Review 81:The Hotel is completely outmoded / obsolete. Seems the hotel was built somewhere in the mid-60th and just once the Standards for some 4 Stars achieved. After that, it seems nobody care anymore about the hotel and things turning worse and decaying ... The present condition is not even worth 1 Star ... ! By several circuit panels no cover is present and the naked power cables are looking out !! High Risk especially for Kids ... !!!

Review 82:saltwater pools

Review 83:Nice hotel to relax for a few days. comfortable rooms, balcony, sea view, pool, good restaurant and 1-2 restaurants in the harbor (5 minutes drive). 10 minutes from Herculaneum archaeological site (a must) and 45 minutes from Pompeii

Review 84:Hospitality and kindness. Magical view on the Neaples bay. Sea swimmingpools and VIP beach. Delicious restaurant and pizzas. Management and team so nice and helpful . My daughter and I will keep a delighted souvenir of our stay at Puntaquattroventi, on the bay, and 2 steps of Neaples. Especially congrats and thanks to the caring direction , the "Golden Keys" recptionist , the bar and restaurant teams.

Review 85:This hotel is 20 minutes from the airport. It is a wonderful way tobegin or end your trip to Italy. It is a wonderful hotel in abeautiful setting.

Review 86:dated rooms/hotel. needs freshing up urgently. wifi in rooms does not work always. friendlyless of staff compensates all this.

Review 87:friendly staff, nice pool and beaches, good food

Review 88:This was an oasis in a busy area. The pools were beautiful, the restaurant served the best food we had in Italy, we loved our stay.

Review 89:The location is very good for Herculaneum, which I walked to with my kids.

Review 90:It is so hard to find! Our stay would have been vastly improved if the hotel had sent clear directions with the booking

Review 91:The room was spacious and the view at the sea really beautiful. The swimming pools and equipment were great

Review 92:Vétusté des sanitaires et de l'équipement electrique. Le type d’hôtel ne s'accorde pas à mon avis avec l'événementiel

Review 93:Very busy at weekend as it was also a swimming club.

Review 94:Lovely views from the room and good restaurant. Walking distance from Herculaneum.

Review 95:Great swimming pool. Close to Vesuvius and Pompeii. Beautiful Mediterranean view.

Review 96:nice place to relax for 1 or 2 days at the end or at the beginning of your holiday

Review 97:- very bad WIFI - building needs reconstruction - monotonous breakfest

Review 98:- nice view - own beach, pools - large room

Review 99:Excellent location, very friendly staff; excellent meals at the restaurant.

Review 100:Excellent location close to the main attractions. Friendly staff. Very good vale for the money

Review 101:Hard to find for first time.

Review 102:Near to Herculaneum (can walk), Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius. All rooms have great view of bay. Kids loved swimming pools. Staff helpful. We had one family room and double. Since the hotel wasn't full, they gave us 3 doubles for the same price, which our teenagers loved. Good dining room and breakfast inside or on terrace. Free parking in gated courtyard.

Review 103:The general area was a bit scary and dirty. We did not feel comfortable leaving the hotel, although felt perfectly safe on the property.

Review 104:The location right on the beach was good. The pool was nice and the views from the room were as described. The staff was very nice and accommodating.

Review 105:We were there just before easter and the outside pools were closed and the beach not cleaned at all. (garbage) Italian breakfast! poor wifi in the rooms We didn't have a car, so we had to walk 2 km to the train station to visit Pompei, Napoli, og the ruins in Ercolano, Herculaneum

Review 106:Good location. Close to the Vesuv and Herculaneum ruins. good restaurant at the hotel. The bedst in town. Kind staff. very helpful. great fitness. opportunity for Zumba classes (free) good wifi in the lobby

Review 107:Condition of facilities and fabric of hotel in poor condition. Evidence of inadequate repairs and incompetent workmanship, leaking roof and damp smells throughout lobby and rooms. TV on in the restaurant for the benefit of manager, staff and family made us feel like unwelcome guests causing a nuisance. Few people chose to eat in the restaurant in the evenings and although we wanted to we also relented and went off in search of somewhere else where we felt like guests. The location of the hotel has become compromised by the rundown nature of the surrounding area. The walk to the hotel is down a road with no through access and a filthy pavement littered with dog excrement. It was near derelict and felt quite dangerous.

Review 108:Access to indoor pool and opportunity to swim with swimming club.

Review 109:The meal at the restaurant was OK and if there were other places to eat nearby I would recommend you go elsewhere. Unfortunately there did not appear to be other choices. the food was just OK - not great and seemed a bit expensive. the service in the restaurant was not great either.

Review 110:Neat, clean and comfortable. the staff were good and the breakfast was OK.

Review 111:The hotel clearly had no money spent on it for about 50 years. The only entrance to the hotel was across a concrete bridge daubed with graffitti. We only saw about three other guests giving the place the feel of the Mary Celeste

Review 112:view of the bay

Review 113:No other nearby resturants bars or anything really and the surroundings were abit run down and industrial

Review 114:the pool area was good and it was handy for herculaneum,

Review 115:About 1.5 kilometres from train station so needed a taxi to get there unless you were young and fit (which I am not). Otherwise relatively level walk to nearest resurant/supermarket/shopping.

Review 116:Good Central Location to tour. Rooms were clean and well equiped, balcony views terrific, pools clean, restaurant food excellent and good value, Staff could not have been more helpfull. Well away from the busy traffic.

Review 117:the hotel needs renovation from top to bottom - the facilities are good but very run down

Review 118:the pool was great and the staff really friendly.. the location towards Naples, Capri, Pompey etc. is fine.

Review 119:Had to change room, on arrival as phone did not work & safe box wasbroken. Second room had no bath plug, and found a dead rat in theflowerbed outside balcony. Never going back !!!

Review 120:The busy pool during the day with local families. Area surrounding the hotel, not nice to walk out in dark -no local shops/restaurant/bars Hotel very basic Carpets dirty in entrance hall Apart from the outdoor pools-none of the other leisure facilities were open/accessible Tv on loud in breakfast area Wifi only works in reception area No English channels on TV in room Limited menu in restaurant

Review 121:Great Location for visiting Pompeii, Vesuvius, Herculaneum, Naples, Sorrento and surrounding islands. Cheap and easy train travel (€2.50 return to Sorrento) The two VERY helpful men on reception who speak good enough English. Responded to all my queries and booked taxis and trips on request (Rosario / Romerio?) Sunset & views over Naples Breakfast (included) Pebble beach right on the sea Room cleaned very day and fresh towels-comfy beds Hot &powerful shower Cheap food and drinks €2 for glass of Prosecco / €8 for pizza

Review 122:Rooms in need of maintenance or renovation No access to other restaurants or shops without a car Swimming pools not cleaned properly

Review 123:Friendly staff Convenient location for going to train station (Vesuviana) to visit Pompei, Naples and Salerno. Good restaurant Two swimming pools and access to sea

Review 124:The hotel should have three not 4 stars. Days of its fame passed longtime ago. Unpleasant neibourghood.

Review 125:The location right on the coast, close to Pompei, Vesuvio and Napels.

Review 126:The building is pretty old itself and you can feel it in the room as well

Review 127:Pool has sea water and most rooms face the seaside;) free parking is good, but a bit packed

Review 128:No privacy on balcony. Limited breakfast options. Hotel is a bit hard to find.

Review 129:Seaside location. View of water from room balcony. Good restaurant for dinner.

Review 130:Upon arrival and after looking at the hotel, we promplty decided therewas no way we could stay there. Looks nothing like the pictures online! This hotel is run down and in dire need of cleaning and updating! Thereis no possible way this hotel can be a four star!

Review 131:The staff was very helpful finding us a taxi to another hotel on EasterSunday after deciding we would not stay there.

Review 132:Very comfortable, very friendly staff; the hotel matched perfectly with the description provided by the hotel. Great location in the seaside. Fantastic gym!

Review 133:Excellent staff and great location

Review 134:friendly, helpfull and kind staff :)
