Reviews for Miglio d'Oro Park Hotel

Review 1:The restaurant the night we ate there was in a small room next to the lovely room where we had breakfast the next day. We wondered why they chose that room with too bright lights and little atmosphere. The food was good, though, and quite reasonable.

Review 2:I loved the beautiful pool and the location which was just a short walk from the ruins of Herculaneum.

Review 3:No atmosphere in public areas, very quiet in the evenings. No real bar service, no guest info in room. Pool closed.

Review 4:Comfortable room, sea view, helpful staff. Good location for rail station and Herculaneum ruins. 20 mins from Naples Airport.

Review 5:The service in the restaurant in the evenings can be somewhat slow, maybe it was us who were not used to the Italian experience

Review 6:The location is only 400 metres from Herculaneum, which was the reason for us going, and there are numerous eating places within easy walking distance

Review 7:The Airconditioning was broken throughout the entire hotel from the time we arrived (1pm on a Saturday) until we left to move to another hotel (1pm Sunday). We were supposed to stay 3 nights but it was just too hot (34 degrees outside). The staff tried to help (went out and bought a pedestal fan for us to use overnight) but it was unbareable to sleep in that heat in the room we were in (faces the sun all afternoon). All the other guests we spoke to said they'd had the same experience. Our room also had no hot water (not that we needed it with no a/c). We had to cancel our stay and move to another hotel. Ercolano and the surrounding area was awful but very easy access to the Herculaneum and Mount Vesuvius which were wonderful to visit.

Review 8:Beautiful common areas and grounds. Lovely pool.

Review 9:Very strong smell of mildew in our room, plaster peeling from water damage, in a run-down neighbourhood.

Review 10:Great breakfast, beautiful pool, good sized rooms

Review 11:We ate in the restaurant a couple of times. The menu is quite limiting, but I had a delicious meal the first time with fresh tuna for my main course, which was probably the best I have ever tasted. However when I ordered it the next time we ate there it was cooked completely differently and not really very nice.

Review 12:This is a lovely hotel set in an amazing building and with relaxing grounds. The pool is a real selling point, although it can get quite crowded especially as it seems to be available to locals as a type of 'country club'

Review 13:Bad ratings for this hotel or the personnel or the internet are completely unjustified! The hotel is a beautiful retreat, both for business and private. Also the location is ok, after all it is in Naples, it is of course not Capri, but safe and proper.

Review 14:Terrible service and very limited menu at dinner. Very little left for breakfast at 10am. Could be a beautiful hotel but not fulfilling its potential.

Review 15:Nice pool & great for Herculaneum.

Review 16:The bathrooms needed updating - mirrors were rusted in the corners etc (it gave a lived in feel though). The fridge in our room didn't work but the aircon and the wifi were excellent and made up for the minor kinks.

Review 17:The room was a beautiful old large classically decorated space. We had three rooms in total and the others were also lovely - one with large windows looking out at the bay. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent with a wide array of choice (including gluten free for one of our party). It was easy to walk to the main sites or the train station

Review 18:Excellent hotel, friendly staff, excellent pool. The town of Erulano is a little run down but the nearby archaeological site of Herculanium is stunning. Good easy access to Vesuvius

Review 19:Great location is great for sorrento, pompei, capri and Naples - but the local town isn't great

Review 20:Great location for the major sites around, facilities great too

Review 21:The hotel is rundown and feels a little empty. There was a mistake in our account and whilst it was rectified in the end the bank charges in Italy meant we got no refund. Still waiting to here back from the hotel.

Review 22:The rooms where spacious. The pool area is beautiful and much Larger tha expected. Beautiful gardens.

Review 23:No wifi except in reception The staff in restaurant and bar weren't that friendly or experienced. The restaurant food was really disappointing. It sounded delicious as described on the menu however failed miserably. 3 store bought meringues in a stack does not, in my opinion make a mille feuille!! ( 10 euro for this!!) Poor standard food and service here lets the hotel down considerably.

Review 24:Room was large and comfortable The reception staff were very helpful

Review 25:The first room we were given had poor air conditioning, but thankfully the staff moved us to a room with better cooling. The rooms did not look like the image on booking.com. Perhaps they only have a few renovated rooms? Though the room we had was suitable. The shower drain would let out a very foul smell in the mornings? Not sure the cause of this, but when we had returned to the room after it had been serviced, it was fine for the rest of the evening, until the next morning!

Review 26:The gardens are beautiful and the kids loved playing there. The pool water temperature was perfect! The restaurant dinner meals were very tasty and the staff were friendly.

Review 27:The hotel has a noisy street side. I woke up around 6 am due to traffic noise. View from street side rooms that look onto the sea is far from beautiful. Village is nothing spectacular. The garden is beautiful but fountains only work occasionally for wedding or other party. The hotel needs urgent renovation. Walls and curtains in the bedroom are dirty even if we had a superior Room. Plastic plants everywere under dust. Poor breakfast with no fresh fruit and little choice. Bathroom is old and water from shower goes onto the floor and water temp is not constant. Wall of bathtub was about to fall out. The wifi didn't work in the rooms not at the breakfast table only at the reception.

Review 28:Nothing to like.

Review 29:Wifi only works in reception. Staff not super friendly or competent. Restaurant not good. Not a great neighborhood for walking around.

Review 30:Gorgeous hotel right next to Herculaneum ruins. Great pool!!! Beautiful, extensive, fabulous gardens and ruins on property. Great parking

Review 31:We had to wait over 45 minutes for a drink from the bar. This happened both evenings we were there.

Review 32:Beautiful building, beautiful grounds.Peaceful oasis set in the chaos of Ercolano. Wonderful pool. Reception staff good and cleaning team excellent.

Review 33:Slightly dodgy deal between desk clerk and his friend the taxi driver that left us in a difficult situation having to pay v expensive taxi fare

Review 34:Pool very nice, very hand for visiting herculaneum, dinner very good, breakfast not very interesting

Review 35:Choice of places to eat were not great

Review 36:The staff were very helpful and spoke English. The hotel and gardens were just beautiful.the pool was a good size And spotless I would stay again. We had the most enjoyable holiday there and I would highly recommend it

Review 37:The male receptionist on our last evening was very unhelpful when we enquired about getting a train from Portici to Salerno, he quite dismissively said no train existed and we would have to go via Naples. We eventually got the information we needed from the Internet and caught the nonexistent train the following day. Other than our experience with him the staff were pleasant and helpful.

Review 38:The hotel was very relaxing with lovely gardens and a great pool. Ideal for visiting Ercolana and the Amalfi Coast.

Review 39:In this day and age, in such a relatively luxurious hotel, it was disappointing and aggravating to only be able to get wi-fi in a very limited area in hotel reception. The food was exquisitely presented and clearly produced by top class chefs but it was expensive and the portions were tiny. This hotel is converted palazzo so its rooms, public spaces, terraces and gardens are extremely opulent. I would say it is just a notch below a genuine luxury hotel but that is reflected in the very reasonable room prices. We arrived quite late because our flight had been severely delayed and we were all extremely tired and hungry on arrival but all the hotel restaurant could offer us was cold cuts (carpaccio, sea bass tartare and dessert. So we were very disappointed to find no room service in a hotel of this quality. However, the breakfast buffet was excellent.

Review 40:The staff were all extremely courteous, friendly and helpful. The rooms were big and well appointed. The outdoor areas were beautiful and generally well maintained and the pool area was superb. The hotel is about 3 minutes' walk from the ruins of Herculaneum and about 10 minutes from the Metro stop. The surrounding area is rather run down and the streets are somewhat squalid but that is par for the course throughout the neapolitan area. There is an excellent pizzeria near at hand on the corner of via Quattro Novembre , just down the street from the superb virtual archaeological museum. In the opposite direction on Corso Resina, about 2 blocks away, is the top class restaurant Viva lo Re. We would return there without hesitation.

Review 41:Personel çok ilgili. Otel çok tarihi ama çok temiz. Bahçesi ve havuz çok güzel. Bu bölgede konaklayacaksaniz hiç düşünmeden gidin. Küçük çocuklu ailelere de tavsiye ederim.

Review 42:None

Review 43:Great location for Herculaneum. Grand old hotel which has obviously seen better days but lovely high ceilings, great gardens and very helpful service. Varied choice at breakfast.

Review 44:Only thing we could find fault with was that very loud music was played during breakfast, making it almost impossible to hold a conversation.

Review 45:Great location, an oasis in the bustle of Naples, only a couple of minutes' walk to Herculaneum and easy to drive to Vesuvius. Room was lovely and staff friendly. Much larger gardens and pool than expected. Recommended.

Review 46:Lovely and extensive grounds and garden, like an oasis compared to the bustle of town. Great location for the ruins. Good car parking. Dinner was very enjoyable, good sized portions and all freshly prepared.

Review 47:Ercolano is not a pretty town but this is not the fault of the hotel. There are not many good restaurants other than the hotel. Our only complaint was that hotel's restarant does not vary the menu and there are few choices. So if you stay more than three days you will have tried most of the offerings . The internet only works in the lobby which was inconvenient for me as I needed to keep up with my business stateside. i

Review 48:This is definitely a Luxury Small Hotel located in a between Naples and Sorrento. Every inch of the gadrens and the hotel's public rooms are impecably cared for. Most of the staff speaks English and are happy to give you as much information as you need. Herculano( the ruins) is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. While not promoted very heavily people will find this a day well spent seeing remarkably well preserved ruins. the gardens of the Bourbino castle( now a university ) are also close by. Miglia D'oro's rooms are spacious and well appointed.. I suggest you ask for a view of the gardens....as the view of the sea also has a view of very shabby houusing with the sea very far in the distance. Don't miss the food, The chef is excellent, and the presentation as well as the quality is over the top. We found the prices for the wine as well as the food modest in comparison to other restaurants on the way to the Amalfi coast. If your plan is to see all the Naples /Amalfi coast has to offer a short stay at this fine hotel is definitely reccomended.

Review 49:Breakfast was very disappointed. It was hurry up to get some coffee in the morning. And "morning staff" was to lazy to brew new coffee.

Review 50:Everything, marvellous hotel, excellent seeing the neighbourhood. Compare with a castle in the middle of the desert.

Review 51:The service personnel is not properly trained. They just don't care about their customers - be it at the reception or during the breakfast. During the breakfast most of the things were cold or missing. I asked once for eggs and I was told they are finished, but not even thinking that you can probably get more. Also the place needs some renovation, especially in the bathroom (shower broken).

Review 52:It is a wonderful building, with a great view to the Gulf from one side and to the park/Vesuvius from the other. The park is very big and beautiful. There is a private parking space, which is good if you travel by car.

Review 53:This was our second visit to what is our favourite hotel. Everything is excellent, the staff are friendly and helpful. The food is exquisite. Location excellent for seeing the area around Naples/Sorrento/Amalfi.

Review 54:Although the town is full of helpful friendly and generous people, we felt very threatened when we walked back from the station area at 10pm. I have huge experience of foreign towns and this time we were lucky to get away.

Review 55:Wonderful old rooms and features, the staff try very hard to be as helpful as they can be. Food in the restaurant was first class and not expensive. A lot of effort has been made to update the facilities which is not easy in a hotel like this.

Review 56:For breakfast there were many cakes and kind of pies and I don't usually eat sweet in the morning, although my daughter was delighted with this. There was a smaller selection of salty food but it was not refilled.

Review 57:The hotel is very pretty, excellent bedrooms and toilets. The food is delicious (especially dinner). The hotel is very close to the Herculaneum ruins.

Review 58:Restaurant has a limited menu and our corner room was noisy in the morning because of the traffic.

Review 59:Nice big room and good on-site restaurant. Location 10 minutes walk to the Herculanum site and easy drive from Naples and Pompei. The park on the grounds of the hotel is a marvel to be seen. Free parking. Great big breakfast selection in the morning.

Review 60:The town itself has seen better days - probably has never recovered from the eruption 2000 years ago....

Review 61:Massive room massive bed and fab grounds to look around - restaurant was closed but there is an amazing pizza place to the left of the hotel 100 meters up the road - 2 pizzas and two beers 12 euros !!

Review 62:NO wifi in bedrooms

Review 63:We enjoyed our stay here. Very helpful staff and lovely breakfast. It was only 5 minute walk to the ruins at Herculaneum and easy access to Napoli, Pompeii and Sorrento. Ask for rooms facing the lovely garden - as the other side although looking out on the bay of Naples was obscured by drab buildings.

Review 64:Hotel restaurant was closed and only a rather limited number of restaurants nearby. Average breakfast. WiFi did not work in room.

Review 65:Convenient location for Herculaneum ruins. Friendly and helpful staff. Very beautiful building with large grounds and garden. Large, clean, modern, stylish, spacious room and bathroom.

Review 66:Only the heater would come on (no AC), the shower flooded the entire bathroom when you tried to use it, there was NO WIFI at all in our room (most likely because of our location in the hotel). When I mentioned to the manager that the shower was flooding the bathroom and asked if we could switch rooms (so my wife who is almost 7 months pregnant and my 6 year old daughter could shower with out the risk of falling) we were told "No, the hotel was full" but, "here are a few extra towels" (there were only 5 other cars in the parking lot) when asked about the WIFI they said ....."its free...." -

Review 67:The location was great, the view was amazing and the room was clean

Review 68:Only one pillow per person and were unable to provide any additional ones - they say they had none. Wifi only available at reception. NOTHING else in the vicinity - no nearby restaurants, cafes etc. Had to empty bath every night with a screwdriver as the plug was broken.

Review 69:Beautiful setting - very grandiose. Beautiful gardens - even in autumn. Nice sized rooms and big bathrooms. Secure parking. By the looks of it, definitely the best option in Herculaneum.

Review 70:The hotel needs redecorating

Review 71:Beautiful palazzo with a large green area with fountains. Very beautiful lobby. Large rooms. Friendly professional staff. Dinner in the restaurant was superb. Very convenient location for visiting the Roman Ercolano, which is from hotel in a 5-minute walk

Review 72:room was nice, but in it we had one door with a sign on it "Don't enter" - turned out to be an old bathroom that wasn't used anymore. A bit creepy

Review 73:beautiful terrace, park and pool walking distance to Hercolano

Review 74:The place was filthy - there were mystery stains all over the chairs inour room and other soft furnishings. The floor was dirty. Dining staffdid not remove table cloths with food stains and crumbs in the morningbefore resetting breakfast tables between diners. The wifi for guests did not work and the hotel would not give out the code for any of the hotel's 7 other wifis we saw pop up. The pool was supposed to open at 8 but, when we turned up at 8, we were told it would not be ready until 9. And while they told us they would sort out the mistake in our room booking while we visited the Herculaneum site, when we returned 4h later, they presented us the key but had not moved out bags. We went up to the room to wait - and it took another hour, one phone call, and a return to the front desk and a request to just let us do it ourselves before they dug up staff to bring our bags (three of them, all small carry-ons) to our new room. But the biggest crime was the food. These were the worst meals we have eaten in Italy (I've made more than a dozen trips to the country over the years.). The arancini amuse bouche and tasting menu pasta were good. The rest was not. The octopus & shrimp w/ricotta on potatoes appetiser is a dish should not exist, there was no effort to get any harmony out of the ingredients & it was shocking to have octopus this bad in Italy. They overcooked the fish to the point it was completely dry (the hotel did remove these two courses from our bill). Their rice pudding was effectively a greasy paella w/out the added fish/veggies etc that make paella. The dessert was like jello vanilla pudding w/rum added and the panama cotta that had so much gelatine it would have bounced if you dropped it. And when we told the hotel this, the response was 'oh, but our chef is very good.' We begged to differ and that was when they removed the two worst courses from our bill.

Review 75:They deducted the cost of the two worst courses from our dinner bill. And after putting us into the wrong kind of room (we reserved twin bedsand were given a double), they did find a room with twin beds for us andinformed us we would not be charged for the 'upgrade' to what wehad actually booked. So they were technically fair in their pricing. Thehistoric building was also interesting, though in need of repairs (andmuch of the refurbishment that had been done was soulless). The locationis excellent, about 5-7 mins walk from the Herculaneum site entrances.

Review 76:wi fi was not great but dont let that put you off. So pleased we chose this hotel. easy to get train into Naples. Naples big beautiful but scruffy city glad i wasnt staying there.

Review 77:Its just 5 mins walk if that to Herculoneum. For a base to explore Naples. Vesuvious etc its great.

Review 78:Coffee at breakfast Wifi in room

Review 79:Nearby Herculaneum site (could be reached by foot) Nice swimming pool, which could be used after check-out (dedicated changing rooms and towels available) Helpful and friendly staff Private parking Large room and bathroom Very well insulated walls and windows Relatively low price

Review 80:We were not able to stay for dinner because of the intrusive noise of the digital sound of the "pianist" which the management were not prepared to reduce.

Review 81:Rooms, gardens, pool.

Review 82:Michelin restaurant must be a joke; absolutely tasteless food. We were a little late entering the restaurant one night, but well within the opening hours. Staff was rude and walking up and down the floor a couple of meters from our table demonstrating their desire to end the evening as quickly as possible and go home. Asking for the dessert menu all of us were quickly served the same piece of cake which none of us had ordered. A shame really that this would spoil the impression of this hotel. Som careful restoration would have brought this property back from the tired, worn state to it's former glory.

Review 83:Serenity of park garden. Large Pool. Nice helpful front desk staff. Large rooms with nice beds and high ceilings. Breakfast was nice but coffee was quite cold and ham and cheese went quickly with no refills.

Review 84:My only complaint was the coffee, but I guess that is a matter of taste?WiFi was not always great in rooms, but then we just went down to thereception area.

Review 85:A really tastefully decorated hotel with extremely luxurious andspacious rooms and bathrooms. The rooms live up to the picturesavailable on their home page! A/c easy to adjust. Extremely politeand helpful staff. Surrounding private garden and pool area so peacefuland so beautiful. We were here for one week, and chose to rely on publictransport, and we were able to get to all the places we wanted to seewith relative ease. Eg. Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento, Mt Vesuvius, Capri. We can definitely highly recommend this uniquely beautiful hotel.Extremely good value for money.

Review 86:The district was very neglected. Rubbish, rotting food, cooking oil etc strewn all over the roads and streets. Very pungent smell everywhere. We got a sense that no-one cared to look after this town.

Review 87:Fabulous hotel and swimming pool set in mature gardens. An oasis of calm and tranquility. 5 minutes walk from the ruins.

Review 88:Overall, our stay was memorable and perfectly enjoyable. The room and grounds were luxurious. Having said that, there were some relatively small issues with the room that weren't ideal. These were issues that one would think would be on the radar of the staff, but they seemed to know nothing about them. Because we were having such a lovely visit otherwise, we didn't want to make a big deal about the issues, but our ratings of the hotel reflect both the overall pleasure of the place and the issues that one would not expect to face in this type of accommodations.

Review 89:This is a majestic property that feels like a wonderful island in the middle of Ercolano. The grounds are stunning, the quad/family room was expansive, and we will remember the breakfast for the rest of our lives ..... it was truly extraordinary. The best part for us was the pool, which was spotless, quiet, and beautiful, with ample comfortable lounge chairs. After a hot day of traveling and exploring ruins, it was perfection. The entrance to Herculaneum is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel, and seeing the ruins was well worth the stay in Ercolano.

Review 90:Very clean and great position

Review 91:Restaurant, breakfast

Review 92:Location, gardens, ambiance, tv

Review 93:Room was poor, very shabby and overpriced

Review 94:Grounds and staff great

Review 95:Great swimming pool Close to Pompei and Erculano

Review 96:The shower needed updating.

Review 97:Beautiful swimming pool, lovely gardens, secure private parking, friendly staff.

Review 98:Surrounding area run down Breakfast poor

Review 99:Meals Grounds Ease of access to Herculaneum Service Soacius

Review 100:Wifi only at ground floor area

Review 101:Spacious and quiet

Review 102:Nothing!

Review 103:Location 5 min from the ruins of the Roman city Wonderfull view The beautiful park Extremely friendly staff

Review 104:Wi-fi was not working, the pipes in the shower were blocked.

Review 105:The staff was extremely helpful. The garden and swimming pool were great.

Review 106:Bar closes early and is not manned all the time

Review 107:Swimming pool, staff,room

Review 108:No Wi-Fi in the room

Review 109:We enjoyed our stay here. Very helpful staff and lovely breakfast. It was only 5 minute walk to the ruins at Herculaneum.

Review 110:Origins as a mansion obvious with high ceilings, some with original paintwork; extensive grounds, huge rooms with cool tiled floors

Review 111:Service in the restaurant ...although good food. Staff totally un-trained. Appalling breakfast...cold tea, cold coffee!

Review 112:Reception very attentive

Review 113:the food was fantastic, don't miss it!!

Review 114:Rooms, breakfast, great garden, free parking

Review 115:Bar was closed, restaurant too

Review 116:The beds

Review 117:No hot water in the morning, dirty and smelly! Awful!

Review 118:none!

Review 119:Everything! Absolutely everything. It's not a hotel. It's a palace! (It would be just nice to have additionally a bathrobe in the room)

Review 120:Poor wyfi No Tv in English

Review 121:Indifferent service at breakfast. Coffee tepid

Review 122:Room was good, pool excellent, grounds beautiful, reception helpful. Mostly good choice at breakfast

Review 123:Take insect repellent!!

Review 124:A beautiful hotel, stunning bedroom with views over the garden. Swimming pool is good size with reclining sunchairs.

Review 125:Limited restaurants nearby.

Review 126:Beautiful hotel in lovely grounds.

Review 127:There was only one person to refill the breakfast buffet so there were few choices of food and no cups for coffee. We reported not being able to open the gate to our terrace, a non fun tuonino phone and a loose bandister but none were fixed.

Review 128:The park and pool are gorgeous.

Review 129:This hotel has huge ambiance and a hidden secret of an in house chef who cooks the most delicious food to order. I cant recommend eating there too much ( but you may have to be patient with the service!). Pool is excellent, bedrooms large and airy and reception staff attentive.

Review 130:How it's needs some TLC to bring it back to its former glory both Hotel & yards. In saying this we had a massive storm while there that did more damage to the garden, but I had been around the garden before the storm & that is what I have based my opinion on.

Review 131:What an amazing property this is. The history alone is do wonderful to soak up. I wandered the gardens as well as the building & I wanted to know more about it. We have to say that amazing as it is, the property itself & grounds are a but run down. You can see in its hay day how wonderful it was but it is s bit tired now. Has do much to offer it is a shame. Just the sheer height if the ceilings blew us away. I would recommend people up stay there, not only for its postion to the Herculaneum historical site just down from its postion. I fell in love with this place but sad it's condition had been let go a bit. Staff were very helpful for sure.

Review 132:Air Conditioning did not work for 3 days whilst we were there and it was very hot. Wi fi not always working either. Reception staff very aloof and didn't care less. Restaurant is set menu only very expensive with very little choice.

Review 133:Gardens were beautiful although fountains not working. Great location to Herculaneum. Need to advise that best station is Ercolani Scavi and not M'iglio

Review 134:the streets arround the hotel are quite dirty and croudy, the guys with motorbikes "celabrated" long in the night

Review 135:Nice old building - palace with beautiful parc and super parking, view on Vesuvius and to the see, stylish rooms, very good breakfast, walking distance to Herculaneum

Review 136:Not recommended for families with kids. Restaurant is opened just certain hours and ...closed on Monday, so if your kids get hungry out the working hours and you are already tired from whole day walking you have a problem... Shower was broken. Internet slow and interrupting. Very very poor breakfast.

Review 137:Spacious rooms. Good location (close to Ercolano and Vesuvius). Guys at reception really tried to help us... Nice garden.

The Fine Print

The swimming pool is open from 1 June to 30 October. Wi-Fi is free.
