Reviews for Kagetsu

Review 1:The location would be great in Cherry blossom season but was otherwise in a very boring area. Not close to restaurants, convenient stores or train station. There was a shuttle us to pick-up/drop off to station but we were very glad we had pre-booked meals. Mind you - that is the onsen experience after all. In room minibar was pricey. Staff seemed to vary ALOT in politeness and knowledge. We had a mix up as the information on booking.com stated children under 6 using existing bedding were free however the hotel staff (2 girls) told me it was wrong and I needed to pay an extra $40/night/child extra. I told them that their information being incorrect was not my fault and to talk to the owner manager however they ended up coming back later and telling me I still had to pay. I let it go as they had been quite rude and I really wanted to actually enjoy my $900/night stay!!! And not argue about money. On checkout I had a different staff (older man and young man) and they were fine and readjusted the price as it was on the booking. It definitely put a negative overtone to my very long awaited, dedicatingly saved for splurge. The hotel needs to have some English how to guides and some better English training for staff if they are going to be taking foreign travellers.

Review 2:Beautiful gardens - would be stunning in any season! Carp fish were very entertaining for small children. Rooms are amazing and everything you would expect from a Japanese ryokan. Included all soaps etc. We had a room with private onsen and garden view which was great! . Comfy futons as they had a padding layer underneath. Our room had no smells and was very clean. Good heating system. Food was 5 star - We had dinner and breakfast included in our booking. They gave us robes and special towels to take to the big communal onsen. Communal onsen was good temperature and very pretty.

Review 3:No vending machines, no one after 10pm, a bit expensive for the service, but it's worth the scenery.

Review 4:The outside bath which is like heaven, the food, the shiatsu massage in the room, the building, the garden

Review 5:Staffs are very friendly, gentle and with great social manners. On the other hand, Hope to enrich the overall service and entertainment for foreign tourists. Incomplete sign boards & information, Inconvenient Wifi service, limited choice of breakfast are negative points we found. If they are completely improved, Kagetsu must be one of best hotels in Japanese ryokan style providing great service & entertainment, comfortable stay to the guests. I must promise you.

Review 6:Japanese traditional interiors & exteriors with beautiful wabisabi inhouse garden & ponds many beautiful carps are swiming must make lots of foreign tourists great fun & memories on stay. Feeding to carps was one of great moments.

Review 7:No dislikes or complaints.

Review 8:Room size was very good and well appointed. The gardens were beautiful with ponds and traditional Japanese figurines. Onsen baths were great. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent and served by friendly staff.

Review 9:The private pool was smaller than expected, only 2 person could fit in. Guys bath area bigger than girls, which felt a bit upsetting.

Review 10:Great meals, extremely polite staff and clean, beautiful rooms.

Review 11:Cold corridors at night, on the way to the baths.

Review 12:The whole atmosphere was wonderful, felt like I walked into a different Japan

Review 13:Old facilities, some public toilets were quite smelly.

Review 14:Beautiful stone gardens, amazing presentation. Wonderful spa bath.

Review 15:Nothing.

Review 16:The hospitality and the beautiful gardens,
