Reviews for Hotel Margherita
Review 1:We didn't have a clue where the hotel was from the train station and that would have been helpful. Probably our own fault!
Review 2:The manager was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great. The location couldn't be beat!
Review 3:We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Margherita. It's in a great location on the beautiful Monterosso - close to restaurants, the boat to go to the different towns, the beach and the start of the hiking trails. We arrived by train and found it easy to get to the hotel from the instructions they've given on their website. Although it wasn't much fun lugging our huge suitcases, but easily done. The owner is very accommodating and kind. The breakfast is also great - a very wide variety of food. And the cakes are also delicious. I would certainly recommend this hotel to my friends and family.
Review 4:We thought the price of the room was a little expensive seeing it was the last week of October and there were not many tourist around
Review 5:Very friendly staff, especially the staff at breakfast they couldn't do enough to help, we asked for lemon with tea and each morning is automatically appeared.
Review 6:We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel. We loved the location, & really enjoyed our balcony with a glass of wine or rum. The breakfast was very good, lots of variety.
Review 7:Great location, only 10 minute walk from train station. The staff and the Manager Marco,, along with his delicious homemade cakes every morning were wonderful. Look forward to staying there again.
Review 8:Hard floors with a baby. Our problem!
Review 9:Beautiful private terrace on the third floor. Easy access to the town and right on the edge of the evening area. We'd read that Marco was helpful, but his ethic runs through the hotel. From assisting with suitcases on arrival to checking that we had warm milk and proper seating for our one year old, everything seemed easily available. I filled my boots with breakfast number one, reigned back on two and three simply to battle greed. Marco even bakes cakes for breakfast. It is, however, not a one man show. Every staff member is helpful and friendly. Great stay.
Review 10:Hotel was neat and modern. Whilst a little ways back from the waterfront this did not detract from it's ease of access and proximity to restaurants and other facilities. Monterosso after all is not that big.
Review 11:Wonderful central location in town, close to restaurants, sights and foreshore. Lovely friendly staff and comfortable, modern room and bathroom with a balcony, perfect for people watching. Host welcoming and helpful.
Review 12:Very poor isolation between rooms, you can practically hear everything "going on" in the next room...
Review 13:Friendly staff, good breakfast, nice location close to garage and old city center.
Review 14:Hotel Margherita is pretty much the most adorable place ever! We I my strayed one night but the room was amazing, with a loft! The staff was super nice and let us borrow a wine opener, and also went out of their way to give us wine glasses. Dinner recommendations were excellent. The town is sooooo cute! About a 10-15 min walk from train station. Highly recommend!
Review 15:Nothing
Review 16:Great hospitality from the owner, Marco and his staff. Well maintained property, lovely breakfast with freshly baked cakes every day and the most friendly staff that we met thru our 3 week travels in Italy. Cannot recommend Margherita highly enough - you will not be disappointed!
Review 17:Staff was so very friendly and afternoon wine and appetizers made the hotel seem like home with opportunity to isocialize with other guests. Great restaurants within walking distance
Review 18:Friendly staff, excellent buffet breakfast. Lovely clean rooms, most recently renovated. Close proximity to all the restaurants. We arrived early and the owner was lovely and let us have the room which is rare in most hotels!
Review 19:Not one complaint.
Review 20:I loved everything about this hotel! The breakfast was delicious, and the location was close to a lot of great restaurants. The owners were so friendly and always willing to help.
Review 21:Walls and doors were a little thin - sounds travel very munch. Only a problem at night if you are a night owl.
Review 22:Marco was very friendly and helpful. His cakes were amazing.
Review 23:A young women at the concierge was unbelievably rude! I think she hated Asian customer. She did not answer any questions we asked about the town and she even mocked our asian accent. La ragazza incredibilmente cattiva!!! Eine Frau von Reception war katastrophe. Sie ist einfach unfreundlich. Montoresso ist schön. Aber wegen Sie, bin schlecht Erinnerung.
Review 24:Bathroom was clean and huge. Space of room was pretty big. Breakfast food was good. Sauber und Grosser Zimmer.
Review 25:Both of the reception desk women were rude and not helpful when we needed assistance.
Review 26:The location was great. Easy to access from parking garage and close to the beach, shopping & excellent restaurants. Really enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching people about town.
Review 27:Room a bit small and the fridge taken out of its housing and put under the desk made working in the room very uncomfortable
Review 28:Excellent location and helpful staff. In house bar was good value with prices lower than in town and very pleasant outside seating to watch world go by.
Review 29:The manager was on site most of the time. He greeted us EVERY TIME with a cheerful smile, whether it was in the breakfast room or on the patio. He was very cheerful. The rooms were very nice and they accommodated my request for twin beds at the last minute. Location great. Close to train station
Review 30:Marco, the manager made our stay wonderful. He was extremely helpful, courteous and responsive. We also liked the comfort of the room with a terrace, which was also very clean. The WIFI was a very strong, continuous signal. The breakfast that was offered was outstanding in the variety of choices of pastry, yogurt, fruit, etc.
Review 31:I have not got a negative thing to say.
Review 32:Marco and his staff at the Margherita are so helpful and very welcoming. Great breakfast selection, the cakes and pastries were delicious . Good location for Old Town shops and restaurants.
Review 33:The hairdryer - almost impossible to dry long hair with this terrible attached to the wall thing!
Review 34:Monterosso is not 5 star hotel land but this hotel is a pleasant friendly and reasonably priced option. The location couldn't be better - in the heart of the old town, next to a great enoteca and good restaurants. The reception staff were friendly and very helpful.
Review 35:The password that I was given would not work on my Droid phone.
Review 36:The room was clean and comfortable, with a small fridge in our room. The breakfast was exceptional, with eggs and delicious cheese. Great breakfast host, he attended to our every need.
Review 37:Monterosso is perhaps the livelier town for a night stay in the Cinque Terre. Staff were very friendly and accomodatting. Had breakfast before scheduled time so as to catch early train.
Review 38:Bathroom and shower very tiny and detracted a little from overall comfort of room. Manager (I think he was) was very friendly but young staff at reception weren't particularly warm or friendly - never smiled or initiated a conversation.
Review 39:Position, room comfort, balcony, breakfast.
Review 40:Pokey wifi-but that is typical in rural Italy. Wish they had orange juice that didn't taste like Tang.
Review 41:ideal location for the town and as a base for exploring Cinque Terre. Excellent value for a 3* hotel. Extremely comfortable beds; quiet and very clean rooms. Better than average breakfast. Very close to some superior local restaurants.
Review 42:I can't say anything negative about this hotel at all.
Review 43:From the start the staff at Hotel Margherita were great in working with me in e-mails back & forth. I even received a personal e-mail confirming our special requests of separate beds and they'd gone above to give us adjoining rooms on the main large patio. The rooms were the nicest of the hotels we stayed in during our trip across Italy. The included breakfast was amazing with standard American type foods, but also Italian pastries and various cakes & such that is made on site. You can smell it being baked in the late evening! The front counter was helpful during our stay, more than friendly, and happy to help in anything needed.
Review 44:Nothing at all - everything perfect.
Review 45:Hospitality of Marco was amazing. Everything from snacks with our afternoon drinks, freshly baked pastries and early breakfast. One of the nicest hotels we ever stayed at. Breakfast was awesome, with so much to choose from and the room was spacious and clean. All staff very friendly and accommodating.
Review 46:N/a
Review 47:Everything, the owner is great. The colazione is excellente. Very nice bathrooms, and outdoor seating. I will stay again when I return to monterosso
Review 48:One of the staff members was really rude and unhelpful. The walls are really thin too so could even hear people's conversations quite clearly in the next room
Review 49:Location was great, rooms were really clean and had everything you needed for a weekend getaway.
Review 50:The safe was much too small as we were travelling with a tablet which wouldn't fit in - it also wasn't very secure as it was fixed to the shelf in the wardrobe but the shelf was easily removed. The Wifi only allowed one device to be connected at a time which made it hard to research etc if you both wanted to look at things - although our friends in another room were able to solve this problem easily by asking for an additional log in slip from reception. I only marked the bed down because it was a memory foam mattress and gave me a bad back for the first few days of our stay. Purely personal preference.
Review 51:The location was excellent, the rooms were very modern and clean. The breakfast was amazing and Marco's homemade cakes were impossible to stop eating. The staff were also extremely helpful at all times - especially Marco the manager who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was as enjoyable as possible.
Review 52:Car parking in Monterossa is pretty tricky! The nearest car park is 150 metres away up a steep incline and is not always easy to park. We left the car, once parked, and walked everywhere.
Review 53:Great location, central to Monterossa, yet without any noise. The hotel is of high quality, but the ground floor rooms (we had one) are intended for disabled customers (which we are not). Breakfast was good and the hiking could have been spectacular, had the weather been kinder (storms on day 2) and the footpaths been fully open. Overall a great place and a great hotel.
Review 54:Room was a bit small, but clean and comfortable.
Review 55:Great location. Nice hotel, with a lovely area outside to sit and have a drink. Staff were very helpful.
Review 56:Small room. Quite expensive, but I think it is all the same in the area.
Review 57:Convenient location, about 10 minutes from the train station. Easy to find. Escalator available. Good restaurants nearby.
Review 58:Very helpful and friendly staff. We drove and the parking garage where we parked was easy walking distance to the hotel. They also offered same day laundry service (wash and fold) 10 euros for as many clothes as you could fit in the bag they provided. Breakfast buffet had a lot of offerings plus a variety of homemade cakes.
Review 59:This is a fantastic place to stay if you want a relaxing vacation. The location was in the heart of old town Monterosso & very clean & quiet. Staff is very friendly & inviting.
Review 60:The hotel was in a great location. The bedroom and bathroom were very modern and clean. Our room had it's own deck. Excellent breakfast - good choice. The courtyard/deck out the front was really nice to eat breakfast or have a drink in the evening & watch the world go by!
Review 61:I loved it all
Review 62:This hotel is amazing.. All the staff were helpful and Marco was over the top. He bakes delicious cakes, will do your laundry, carry your bags, advise on where to go, eat, swim, take a train ferry, whatever. I can't wait to go back.
Review 63:Parking place is 15 minutes walk and expensive; No information from the hotel how to reach them and the parking place; You heard the pizzeria from below from very early (7 am); No wall to the next room, just a door: you quite heard the neighbour
Review 64:Very fast net: I streamed football match on it; Very guest centric staff;
Review 65:No complaints here
Review 66:Location was great - right in the middle of the old part of Monterrosso! The staff was very friendly and helpful and breakfast was phenomenal! Loved every minute of our stay - will go back someday!
Review 67:We enjoyed the free wifi, but during high useage times it was often unavailable and we would have to wait until the evening to use it.
Review 68:This property is in an excellent location in Old Town Monterosso, and the rooms are clean and large. The shower was excellent, not always true in Europe. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, with every kind of food, juice and coffee drink you could want. The owner is always available making sure all his guests are happy and well taken care of. We enjoyed this property and would return again.
Review 69:We were at the end of the hallway and the wifi signal was not very strong, usually losing connectivity. For consistent usage go downstairs to their terrace.
Review 70:Great hotel with the best location in town. The room was modern, with a great bathroom and a balcony.
Review 71:Parking was a little tricky, but that is understandable.
Review 72:Staff was super friendly and helpful. We loved staying here. Wish we could have stayed longer. Don't think twice about booking this hotel, especially if you have kids. Modern, clean, and a great location.
Review 73:This hotel is right in the center of the town. The hotel is clean and cool...the breakfast was great. And the manager is friendly, ready to help with any and everything. I can't say enough about the man. thank you
Review 74:The only problem and it's only a slight issue is the wifi. For some reason it doesn't stay connected and you have to keep reentering your user name and password. That was just annoying but once online it was perfect. So not a complaint just something that could be improved on.
Review 75:We loved Hotel Margherita as the staff were wonderful especially Marco who could not have been more helpful and hospitable. Will recommend to others and will return with family.
Review 76:An excellent hotel well located in Cinque Terre, a beautiful part of Italy. We stayed at Hotel Margherita for 3 nights in July. The hotel is clean and modern, the room was comfortable and included everything we needed, even a balcony. The air conditioning was excellent (just as well as it was 35 degrees each day!) The hotel is well located in the main part of Monterosso, with a multitude of shops, Restaurants and bars within a minute or two’s walk. The big surprise was the breakfast – to say that the buffet was extensive is an understatement, particularly in Europe! There were even a selection of very delicious home made cakes (even tiramisu), freshly baked each day by the host. Overall, I would happily recommend Hotel Margherita to anybody visiting the Cinque Terre area.
Review 77:Great location in Monterosso, right in the middle of the town and short walk to the beach and train. Great, helpful staff who speak English. Room very spacious with nice, large, modern bathroom. Highly recommend!
Review 78:Hotel was great, only comment here was the bed was a bit firm for us, but that is not their fault, we like a softer bed
Review 79:Rooms air conditioner was excellent, breakfast outstanding, very clean, staff were extremely accommodating.
Review 80:A little thing, but had to re enter wifi code (which was unreasonably long) every time came back to the room.
Review 81:Great service and breakfast. Also reasonable laundry service at the hotel
Review 82:Could hear the people in the room next door. Not having an elevator freely to use in the outer rooms.
Review 83:Location in superb! The complimentary breakfast had a pretty good selection.
Review 84:Ambience. Position. Cleanliness. Breakfast. These features all made for wonderful stay. Easy access to ferry and trains to visit other CinqueTerra towns
Review 85:The shower didn't work as well and the wifi was spotty
Review 86:Free upgrade, amenity provided, breakfast was delicious, and the balcony for the room was great
Review 87:Comfort and Location (Old Part of Town) - Nice size air conditioned room with a balcony, refrigerator and a lift. Breakfasts were yummy. The smell of freshly cooked cakes each day was great. The owner could not have been more accommodating. He gave me a glass of ice each day to put my Lemoncello in, which I sipped each evening on the balcony and watched the passing parade. This is a well located property, in one of the better villages and away from the tour groups who are gone by 17:00 each day. We wished we had stayed longer as it was a true holiday hotel and destination. We visited two other villages - we walked to one and took a boat ride to another. This property is 10 meters from an auto-teller, supermarket, laundrette (however they did our laundry for 10 Euro), chemist, boutiques and speciality food shops. These facilities are on the same street. The other villages didn't look as equipped. Julie and Mark Australian July 2015
Review 88:Our room was ground floor, dark, in back with one window that opened to an interior alleyway very close to other neighbors. So no ventilation, view, privacy or security if window was open.
Review 89:The location, breakfast, and outdoor seating were all great. Upper floor rooms with balconies would be most desirable.
Review 90:The wifi connection here is ridiculous. I know you are in paradise and that shouldn't matter, but when it is advertised that a hotel has it, and you need it for a bit of work and contact, it is crazy to have to reconnect every single time you do anything. Also in my two visits I have found the desk staff to be less than warm or helpful. Same two women this year as in 2013, seem really putout to answer questions or be polite. What is going on on their computer screen is much more important than their customers. The manager (or owner...not sure of his title) on the other hand, was always very nice.
Review 91:This is my second stay at Hotel Margherita and the reason I return is the location and the terrace. I love that you can enjoy sitting on the terrace and still be involved with the comings and goings of Monterosso.
Review 92:Loved everything about it, large room with balcony. Modern bathroom. Great breakfast. Laundry facilities nearby. Great shopping and restaurants. Would return there.
Review 93:WiFi dropped in and out but not a major problem.
Review 94:Loved the location in the heart of the old town of monterosso. Big clean room with comfortable bed. Bathroom was spotless and towels were changed daily which was a nice touch. Breakfast was great with a range of options for everyone.
Review 95:None.
Review 96:Very nice breakfast with freshly made baked goods by the owner. Attentive service by Marco. We had a room with a spacious balcony. Great patio area in front of the hotel where we enjoyed cocktails.
Review 97:Constantly having to log in to use wifi was annoying but not a big deal.
Review 98:Overall a very good hotel. Bed was a little firm but not a big deal. The spread for breakfast was exceptional and staff were friendly but unobtrusive. Highly recommend.
Review 99:Can't drive to hotel. It would be nice to know what to expect. Hotel sent us a cab from a parking lot.
Review 100:Excellent Rooms (we had 2 rooms). Grandma, Grandpa Mommy and 3 year old. Great for all of us!
Review 101:We liked everything about this hotel.
Review 102:The location was wonderful and we loved our balcony. We could sit there with a glass of wine and watch tourists and locals stroll by. The staff was very helpful and the breakfasts in the large breakfast room were delicious. The cakes were as good as they were beautiful.
Review 103:Expensive for a three star hotel
Review 104:i liked the rooms and the small terrace. Everything is nice and clean. However the pictures in booking.com looked much nicer which did not correspond to reality though ..
Review 105:Only negative, and this is extremely minor, is that the WiFi login and code had to be entered whenever you left the floor or sat idle. And it's a long code. But if that's the worst part of your day, congratulations!
Review 106:Great hotel in a beautiful setting. Modern. Clean. Attentive friendly staff. Great breakfast. All needs met. Exceeded expectations. American travelers will love this town and hotel. You'll feel extremely at home. Hike the trails. Lay on the beaches. Eat the seafood pasta and risotta.
Review 107:The cakes at breakfast were out of this world. Marco and his staff could not have been more accommodating; drinks on the patio, train schedules, hiking routes, dinner reservations. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Cinque Terre. I can't wait to visit again.
Review 108:Had to log in to wifi each time you would use phone/device and wasn't the best quality but a minor detail..
Review 109:Being a pair of foodies my partner and I a big part of choosing to stay at Hotel Margherita was the Buffet breakfast included in our stay and it didn't disappoint! The hotel was everything we needed and more for our stay in Monterosso, Cinque Terre.
Review 110:We wanted to use the hotel's bathroom the afternoon after checking out but the staff was unhelpful.
Review 111:The hotel was basic, but good for a night's stay at Monterosso. We went with a car, and the car park (Loreto) was fairly close to the hotel. Good location in Monterosso too, with restaurants and shops nearby and the hotel is close to the dock for the ferry to the other villages.
Review 112:We were satisfied with everything.
Review 113:Our room was very comfortable and we enjoyed the breakfast choices..The staff was helpful and very welcoming. We would stay here again. The hotel was quiet..
Review 114:- The bathroom was full of ants... there were cities of ants - The internet setting there made me enter the username and password every time I wanted to use the WiFi
Review 115:- Location
Review 116:Very bright, clean and well maintained property! The rooms were modern and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was excellent!! The location was perfect in the old town among the shops, resteraunts and bars. At night, it was very quiet. Highly recommend.
Review 117:Hated having to re-log-in to the wi-fi all the time.
Review 118:We accidentally picked one of the only hotels on the Cinque Terre that didn't require a lot of steps and steep climbing! The hotel is lovely with great service and helpful staff!
Review 119:The reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. When half our group missed the free breakfast the next morning (ended at 10:30), we asked if we could get some coffee. They immediately whipped up a couple of plates of fresh pastries and served our coffee out on the little patio beside the hotel. When we were finished, we asked to pay for the coffee and they said "no, no, you missed breakfast". It was a perfect way to start the day.
Review 120:No bad experiences
Review 121:It is a wonderful place to wander around the village and enjoy everything. Great restaurants, wonderful views. We could ride the ferry to the other Cinque Terra towns. We enjoyed everything!
Review 122:Bed was not very comfortable.
Review 123:Very clean, great customer service, great location with food/shops/train station/boat; breakfast had a great variety and all food was good; room was small but very comfortable and clean; nice bathroom.
Review 124:Only negative was that the wi-fi was unreliable and often unable to get a connection.
Review 125:Near to the shops and restaurants but in quiet area - ideally located. Staff are friendly with great selection for breakfast.
Review 126:Hotel, staff, accommodations were excellent!! Breakfast was amazing! Homemade cakes were delicious! Breads, meat, cheese, eggs, yogurts, granola, juice, all types of coffees, fruit!! Everything you could want. We even had a bag of laundry done for 10 euro!!
