Reviews for Hotel Palme
Review 1:I went swimming and found some jelly fish. Ouch!
Review 2:We liked that it was close to everything but just around the corner where it was quieter. We especially liked Emma and Alisia, front desk and bartender. They were very nice to us and made us great drinks. We enjoyed their company.
Review 3:Owners/managers (appeared to be husband and wife) not very friendly or helpful. When I complained to the Male owner/manager that our door had been left wide open after the cleaner had been he said not to worry and that it shouldn't be a problem. It was a problem as our belongings were there for anyone to take. The bathroom was very pokey and the shower was dreadful with 2 sliding doors that wouldn't open or close properly.
Review 4:Location was excellent.
Review 5:Not really worth of the money (not 4 stars), a little bit tired looking rooms, location is not the best in Monterosso but near the beach, aircon didn't work.
Review 6:Nice continental breakfast buffet and big breakfast room, probably best I've experienced in Italy. Very clean hotel, staff were nice and friendly. Free wifi was supergood, worked in the room as well.
Review 7:The morning staff (older man and woman) were just ok not too helpful a little dismissive. We wanted coffee at 10:30 and there was no way they could do it - the lady said go down the street - very disappointing.
Review 8:The location was awesome and the breakfast was yummy- our room was recently renovated #408 and it was amazing! During our stay the late afternoon to evening staff was AMAZING! Young, fresh, interested and helpful we loved those girls!
Review 9:Cleaning of room was a little patchy, towels were changed everyday despite a notice saying 'leave towels on floor if you want new ones (to save water)' and we didn't. No concierge service and facilities in general were not typical of an international four star hotel.
Review 10:Very comfortable beds, nice staff (particularly evening reception), mostly clean, good breakfast. Convenient for station.
Review 11:For €180 and a self proclaimed 4 stars, this hotel was abysmal. It was overpriced and I would compare the room to what I would imagine you would get at a Motel 6 in the states. The "queen" bed was nothing more than two twins side by side. There was mold on the walls. There was no way I would have ever paid €180 had I know what the room looked like. On a two week vacation, this was by far the worst place I stayed.
Review 12:Not much.
Review 13:Our 2nd time staying here, great value for money for Monterosso, location just 5 mins walk from the beach, excellent breakfast selection, we received free parking from the hotel and the staff are friendly and helpful
Review 14:Bed mattress could have been a little softer, and the shower cabinet a little bigger. But nothing really major.
Review 15:Friendly staff, spacious room, plenty of windows and natural lighting, 5 minutes walk to train station and beach. Internet was reliable and stable.
Review 16:Bed was uncomfortable. Room is very small and basic. Coffee machine was broken.
Review 17:Location is convenient and outdoor seating area is nice. Lounge area was comfortable as well.
Review 18:Room was a little "SPARTAN" but not unusually so for a beach resort.
Review 19:Staff was friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Location was excellent.
Review 20:the bathroom was a little small and the room furniture a little outdated, but it was clean and breakfast was quite good.
Review 21:the location was amaxing, the staff was very friendly. It is very close to the beach and the eating places.
Review 22:Lovely location to stay as a base to explore the Cinque Terre. Nice and peacefull location with friendly staff and outside area for bar snacks and drinks.
Review 23:the toilets are too close to wall and shower. need to improve the space. also new coffee maker takes too long lines are long for coffee ..
Review 24:we love the location and that they have parking if you arrive early. hard to get in and out but worth the effort .
Review 25:Great location. The staff was very helpful. We had to catch an early morning train aND they had breakfast packed for us to take. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 26:All was pretty great. Our room was a little Spartan but that's not exactly wrong.
Review 27:Great staff (spoke english etc). We checked out at 4am and the night guy sent us off with a little bag of fruit/croissant/water and such which was lovely of him. Great location, clean, friendly, excellent breakfast.
Review 28:The walls were very thin we could hear the next door shower and TV was annoying at 11.30 at night. Needed another chair to sit in
Review 29:Location was good garden was nice to sit under the trees
Review 30:Price Tiny bathroom
Review 31:Hotel is a nice 3 star Clean, excellent breakfast and 1 minute away from the sea (no view) We stayed for 1 night, paid €180! I understand it's high season ...but it's definitely not worth the money
Review 32:3 min walk to the beach , excellent breakfast , it was a holiday when we arrived and the hotel had hot appetizers and drinks for their guests. Staff very welcoming, our room had a private balcony - I would stay there again !
Review 33:A few other front desk woman were not too friendly or seemed put out when questions were asked? I'm always confused why certain personality types put themselves in a public service situation when they don't seem to enjoy their jobs? An older woman got very frustrated with me when I had questions about the bill.....not necessary......but thank goodness for the gentleman ( perhaps owner and Emma they were awesome!)
Review 34:Great location, steps up from beach and away from hustle of main city center. Nice, clean and comfortable rooms! The breakfast was really good too. All in all great for value! Emma at front desk was the one who made our stay the best! She was so helpful, easy going, friendly and gave great this on activities, etc.....
Review 35:The reception/lounge areas were lovely but the bedrooms are basic and could do with a spruce up to match.
Review 36:Convenient location. Only 2min walk to the beach and no hills to contend with.
Review 37:Great location in cique terre. Other villages are mostly build on rocks and hard to get in and out. You can choose Monterosso as your base camp and travel to all of them easily. Only long beach in the ragion.
Review 38:On arrival we were asked to leave passport so could do later which we found unprofessional as most other hotels checked straight away.the person on the desk then did it straight away but mumbled something not. nice to us yes not good in Italian which I understood.
Review 39:This was the third time at cinque Terre but first stay at this hotel and close to beach which was good
Review 40:small bathroom, can hear everything from the other guest staying on the other rooms, this means that u cant have much of a privat life with your lover unless u want some knocking on the door (happend three times)
Review 41:The location was really good
Review 42:The location of this hotel is perfect. It is a short walk to the train station and beach, but feels very quiet and relaxed. The Palm trees in the courtyard are beautiful.
Review 43:This hotel is a short 5 minute walk from the train station and on level ground if carrying suitcases. Friendly staff; excellent breakfast buffet and beach just a few steps away.
Review 44:The rooms could do with more sounds proofing. We were woken up in the early morning to a couple having loud moaning sex. :(
Review 45:The breakfast was good. The rooms were very clean. The location was very convenient to get to the beach.
Review 46:Wonderful location, helpful staff, and easy lifestyle. We arrived early, but were able to check-in. We loved the hotel and location so much we stayed two more days.
Review 47:Bathrooms were tiny. Far from old town which has better restaurants. But closer to a better beach.
Review 48:Decent distance from the station. Can walk easily. No steps. Elevators in the hotel. Decent entry and friendly staff. Close to a good beach.
Review 49:Price is a bit expensive with less expected quality. The owner (lady) was rather rude at check out. The late night receptionist was very kind tough. Cheers.
Review 50:Breakfast (but maybe wit hot food will be better) and location.
Review 51:They don't let you use the refrigerator for your own drinks.
Review 52:Friendly service, clean room and great breakfast selections. We had a spacious balcony with table, chairs, lounge chair and umbrella for shade. Location is great. Close to the beach and old town, but out of the way of the crowds. Near Miky's Cantina which has delicious meals!
Review 53:Wi-Fi connection in rooms would intermittently disconnect.
Review 54:Staff were friendly and amenities were good. Sitting outveach evening for pre dinner drinks was beautiful and relaxing.
Review 55:The location is PERFECT. Staff is very helpful - will loan you beach towels for a deposit, answered all questions about directions, etc. Let us check in right when we arrived even though it was before 2 pm.
Review 56:The hotels AC was not working at all and all we were offered was a small fan! I am 7 months pregnant and made sure the hotels I booked while in Italy had AC. This one advertised it did but be aware it wasn't working and it was extremely hot. Also the breakfast was horrible that they offered. We had an overall bad experience and would never recommend this hotel to anyone! I am so confused how this hotel has good reviews. For what they charge this was a very trashy hotel and a very unaccomdating hotel staff. Beware!!!!!!!
Review 57:How they got 4 star rated ? All facilities were very old and poor condition like 2 or 3 star ? Try to stay, if you don't believe me.
Review 58:A tall lady on evening shift was helpful while others was quite slow.
Review 59:The layout of the bathroom made it difficult to move/shower, and I'm 5'2" and thin. Breakfast was ok, but nothing spectacular.
Review 60:Location was nice, staff was friendly.
Review 61:Stagg seemed to be put off by simple requests at times. Quality of rooms not quit at 4 star standards
Review 62:Location in Monterosso close to beach and grain station
Review 63:The bed and pillows were terribly flat and hard.
Review 64:I liked that this hotel was at the quiet end of street. It has a nice entrance . They gave us beach towels to use. Breakfast was good.
Review 65:Some of the staff, not all were a little unwelcoming/unfriendly which always makes or breaks a hotel stay in my view.
Review 66:Hotel in good location, close to beach and restaurants. Very good breakfast. Simple clean rooms.
Review 67:No bad experiences.
Review 68:Did not know how to pull down shade. Someone came up immediately to show me how to do it. The breakfast was incredible. The food was fresh and they had a wide selection, and it tasted great.
Review 69:The only improvement would be a fridge with a freezer or easy access to an ice making machine.
Review 70:Location was great just back from the busy beachfront, within walking distance to everything Monterosso has to offer.
Review 71:Very small room and bathroom Water consumption sign in the bathroom!! Really! The hotel is a very good three star not four star hotel.
Review 72:Two staff members only one receptionist and the bar lady. Very cheerful and helpful. The rest were professionals just for the sake.
Review 73:Have no complaints.
Review 74:Nice, clean and quiet. Found the staff to be helpful. Walk to beach / station /shops/ restaurants in 5-10 mins flat easy stroll. 15 mins walk to old city.
Review 75:There was misunderstanding in the reservation, while discussing it one of the staff told me that I can search for another hotel, it was so rude. It's not good value for money. The breakfast is so poor, not for a hotel with more than 200 euros per night.
Review 76:Clean, after check out you can use the shower and change your clothes
Review 77:Staff one in particular Emma very very rude person, not helpful made us feel like 2nd class citizen !
Review 78:Location was great, but wish it was in the " old town " only booked this hotel cause only one we could get into at short notice !
Review 79:Hospitality, the whole environment, atmosphere, kindness, terrace .... everything was wonderful. Again special thanks to Ema for helping to make our anniversary celebration truly a special time.
Review 80:This hotel is right off the train station. There are restaurants within walking distance. You are literally right off the beach. Exceeded my expectations! I'd definitely stay here again.
Review 81:only downside was the wifi -- inconsistent, weak signal, had to keep signing in every few minutes
Review 82:Location is very convenient and quiet. The staff was wonderfully helpful and the hotel is well equipped. Breakfast was a feast.
Review 83:The wi-fi connection was poor. At times non-existent and at other times frequently dropping out. There were times we had to go to other facilities nearby to get connected.
Review 84:Good location with good view from our room. Some of the staff were excellent.
Review 85:I didn´t like that you can hear the maids in the morning cleaning the other rooms.
Review 86:I liked the fact that the staff was very welcoming and that the room was very clean, I liked that they cleaned the room even when I left the room late and they had clean the other rooms. I liked that it was very close to the train station and the beach.
Review 87:The room and breakfast was basic and I feel expensive
Review 88:The front desk staff was Excellent, friendly and professional. They went the extra mile--We had a 7:30AM train leaving Monterosso, breakfast starts at 7:30AM. Leaving the hotel at 7AM they had set up a small breakfast for us with fresh coffee, juice and croissants. WOW!!! Room had Good satellite TV, wifi and AC.
Review 89:Very small room. Overpriced, but so are all Cinque Terre hotels.
Review 90:A quiet hotel on a side street in a busy touristy town. Nice bkfst and helpful staff. Clean comfortable room altho small.
Review 91:Proximity to train station...silence of the room....courtesy and efficiency of the staff. Refrigerator conked out and it was replaced within MINUTES!
Review 92:Only a few blocks walking from the train station in Monterosso. We thought this town had more restaurants than the others so it is a good home base for the Cinque Terre. Breakfast was good
Review 93:Other travellers in adjoining rooms, had no consideration for others whowere trying to sleep, up at the crack of dawn, speaking very loudly ontheir phones, shouting, banging doors, we got no sleep with American andAustralian tourists
Review 94:Great location, beautiful place to visit,
Review 95:Only downside was tiny bathroom with awkward shower entry
Review 96:Flat walk to train, good breakfast and amenities and easy to find. Good private balcony and comfortable bed
Review 97:Room was ok but the bath room was quite small and the shower very small.
Review 98:Just a few hundred metres from Monterosso Railway Station and nice flat walk with your luggage. Ema at reception was just lovely and looked after us and staff were generally very friendly.
Review 99:Wi-fi was weak sometimes. Staff were okay, but not overly friendly. Could be trained to be more open with guests. Bathroom was too small for bidet to be included.
Review 100:Breakfast was excellent - quantity and quality. Everything was very clean. Room and bed were comfortable, not too small by European standards. Location was perfect. Close to the beach and walking distance from the railway station.
Review 101:Bar fridge did not work. Breakfast average, but ok.
Review 102:Great location. Not on beach front but next best thing. No hill climbs or steps. Close to train, beach & restaurants. Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 103:The WiFi signal was intermittent at times and was hard to connect to again.
Review 104:The hotel was clean and friendly. Close to the train station but never heard any of the trains. Beautiful town with a great assortment of restaurants and little shops. Hotel was conveniently located to the beach and their breakfast buffet was excellent. Plenty of fresh meats and cheese and yummy breads.
Review 105:People at the reception were very rude. Room was very very ugly. Lighting of the room was horrendous and cold. Wi-Fi was only occasionally working, the people at the reception desk couldn't care less. Nearly everything we disliked . And where does the 4 star rating come from? We have no idea.
Review 106:The people doing the breakfast were friendly
Review 107:Too many instructions from the owners was a bit off putting and not welcome. Not necessary in a hotel of this star
Review 108:The location was excellent and car parking available at hotel was convenient. The staff were most helpful. Breakfast sufficient
Review 109:Very spotty wifi - we would sign in and it took forever to get wifi, and then, it was gone. Surly staff - saying good morning seemed to be a real stretch for everyone except the housekeepers. Couldn't use mini fridge to cool drinks - if you put personal drinks or bottles in the fridge, the sign says the staff will remove them. Breakfast just OK - we got some "attitude" when we asked for a second cup of coffee. Would not recommend Hotel Palme and certainly will not return.
Review 110:Location - it is within easy walking distance to the train, restaurants and shops. The old town isn't too far away.
Review 111:At the end of a quiet road. Hotel staff were not very friendly during arrival. Hotel is quite old and not worth the value for money.
Review 112:Location of the hotel was next to the beach.
Review 113:Once I established a friendly conversation the reception staff were very friendly. The gardens are very relaxing place. The train station of Monterosso is just 5-7 minutes walk. Good beach is few minutes walk. I will stay there again subject to value for money.
Review 114:Can't think of anything.
Review 115:We had a nice size room with a balcony. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a good selection of food for breakfast. It's located at the far end of the new town and I was worried that we should have stayed in the old town, but we loved the stroll there and back and we had the beach!
Review 116:Poor sound insulation of the room, you can easily heard some noise from next rooms.
Review 117:the location is very good, 100meters far to the beach. and it seems like every room has the bacony, it's really conformable to have a chat with friends during the evening on the bacony, the breakfast is great have quite many choices.
Review 118:They set the bath towels on a stool and I did not know how clean that stool was so we never felt that we could use the bottom towel. Towels should not be set on a stool when yo do not know how clean it is.
Review 119:I liked the location, that we could park in the limited parking space, and the wonderful breakfast.
Review 120:No wine glasses in room. Unless you drink their wine, the hotel refuseto supply you with glasses!! We like to buy a good, regional bottle ofwine and enjoy a pre-supper drink on the balcony. If you do too, headfor the nearest wine shop, they sell huge, quality glasses at 2 europer glass.
Review 121:Quiet, spacious room with balcony, one road back from sea. Near swimmingbeach, restaurants, train station and supermarket. Emma and Marina atfront desk were particularly friendly and efficient. Parking on site, fresh beach towels whenever required. Good breakfast too.
Review 122:Nothing, loved it!
Review 123:Proximity to beach and station, but still not on main road Humour and helpfulness of the staff Area outside under palms to sit and wind down Bar Loan of beach towels
Review 124:You need to leave the room key(s) at the front desk every time you leave the building.
Review 125:Excellent place to stay. Close to the train station and things to do.
Review 126:The room was clean and comfortable; however, it is advertised as a 4 star hotel, when in reality it is a 3 star.
Review 127:Our luggage was lost for 4 days from our Alitalia flight and the staff made several phone calls on our behalf to help sort out the process. The room was small but, clean with a clean bathroom with shower.
Review 128:Breakfast--very little good fresh fruit cut up and too much fruit from cans. Poor juice (may not even have been fresh) Room size limited Strictly being warned off about putting anything in the fridge not owned by the hotel Tiny bathroom--hard to shower
Review 129:outside entry courtyard was beautiful and spacious, well shaded friendly staff good breakfast coffee Location near free swimming beach Proximity to restaurants (especially given the absence of lunch or dinner in the hotel itself)
Review 130:Rooms noisy. Thin walls. No tea facilitites in room. Poor internet. No iron in room. Bathroom door would not stay shut. expensive
Review 131:Location. Easy walk from station. Nice front courtyard.
Review 132:Bathroom on the small side.
Review 133:Breakfast had a fair selection. Staff very helpful. Our room slept 2 adults and 2 children very well. Enjoyed the outside seating area in the evening. Provided luggage storage with no problem after check out.
Review 134:People who look for something to moan about! The viscosity of the soap was too much ? Get a life.
Review 135:Everything was fine, We will definitely stay here again. Breakfast buffet more than plentiful and of good quality. Parking is limited, but that is common throughout the area, get parked up and leave the car for your entire stay if you can.
