Reviews for Hotel Gran Paradiso

Review 1:Showers could be renovated

Review 2:Comfortable room with nice balcony with a lovely view. Great for business trips also due to a highly recommended restaurant inside the place.

Review 3:Impatient English Speaking female receptionist in AM I asked about the itemized bill when I checked out She Impatiently told me with a very bad attitude . Italian male receptionist at nite to call a cab for us in the morning was not too happy to do it for us telling us that we should do it more in advance

Review 4:Excellent location for the church Variety of food for breakfast , nice waiters .

Review 5:The beds were definitely of the cheaper value and not extremely comfortable.

Review 6:The included breakfast was fantastic and the price was amazing for the location and beauty of the hotel.

Review 7:The pool was closed but we believe that it was because there was a wedding taking place.

Review 8:The location was wonderful, accommodation excellent and value for money incredible.

Review 9:Wifi not working in the room, very bad breakfast (no fresh products and machine coffee). Extremely uncomfortable bed.

Review 10:Good located, near to P. Pio Basilica and a good place to visit the Gargano far away to the most touristical and crowded towns. Very good and nice facilities, big swimming pool and free parking. Quiet and clean.

Review 11:It was all fine. It's a bit of a walk (or short drive) from the main town where most of the restaurants and bars are. There is little around the hotel itself.

Review 12:Great pool and large room. Good breakfast. Ideal for visiting the shrine of Padre Pio as it's only a short walk. Free parking.

Review 13:We aere not grealty satisfied by the cuisine. Should take care more of this issue.

Review 14:Excelent staff, very friendly. We felt like home. Many thanks to Maria, the receptionist, who helped us a lot. Very nice pool.

Review 15:The staff were extremely rude and aloof. Checking-in felt like they were reluctantly doing me a favor... check-out was less painful because I just gave them my card, signed and left.

Review 16:Good location to the shrine of Padre Pio, rooms were sizable, relatively clean and decently priced

Review 17:In this fabulous place, it is unfortunate that the wait staff in the restaurant didn't speak any English and were not helpful whatsoever. Ordered wine and appetizers. We got the wine but the food never arrived (30+ minutes). We asked for the bill and they tried to insist that we eat and pay for the appetizers. It was quiet a fiasco with paying at the front desk, etc. Sad, because it was a beautiful place and we all wanted to eat there.

Review 18:Beautiful, new, clean, modern hotel in the middle of a little town full of pilgrims for Padre Pio. Most "American Hotel" that we experienced. Great Breakfast!! Sadly, we were only here for one night!

Review 19:We were asked to leave the pool area on Friday and Saturday for several hours in the afternoon, as the place had wedding parties on. As beautiful as the wedding parties looked, (I think I would recommend this place for such an event), we were quite disappointed. Should we be told in advance, we'd plan our days differently and sightsee in this time perhaps.

Review 20:Amazing location Very friendly staff Great food in the restaurant Relaxing, quiet place, great for holiday time and also very close to St Pio's sanctuary for spiritual food.

Review 21:We had a room in the front of the hotel - big mistake. Though it was 80 degrees, the did not have the A/C turned on. So we slept with the terrace door open, Two dogs barked all night. The tourists who came by bus checked out 6:30 AM and wheeled their luggage in the front of the hotel so we woke up early and didn't sleep well both nights we were there. The staff did not seem to care. The shower was tiny and didn't have a soap/shampoo dish.

Review 22:The location was great, near the Basilica, the Crypt and the old Church. The breakfast was very good and the wait staff was great.

Review 23:The staff, the location, the room ( suite). Its 7 minutes from Padre Pio ( walking). The food options are limited but the food is very nice as well.

Review 24:Wifi only works in the reception/receiving area so you can't access it in the comfort of your room especially when you're so tired after a day of outing. Management switch off the aircon system in your room after midnight and you end up waking in an unholy hour sweating and can't go back to sleep. I just can't understand why we have to call the reception and request for the aircon system to be switch back to "on" when it is already 8:00 o'clock in the morning. Further, since they are accepting foreign tourist in the hotel it is but proper that they should have at least one english speaking staff for every shift at the reception. We paid for our stay, it was NOT FREE .

Review 25:Some Key staff do not speak English, however you get there in the end, with a little patience!!.

Review 26:Very Good restaurant -Not expensive. Good Service. Excellent Location to Padre Pio sites-Approx 10 min Walk( up Slight grade). Good sized & Comfortable rooms. Very Good Value for Money.

Review 27:Not sound-proof. Very loud sounds of people talking and walking. Poor internet. Waitress not prepared to get new fried eggs when the balance of 3 were not appetizing. The reception staff were struggling with English

Review 28:Location to padre pio's sanctuary

Review 29:Only disabled access to hotel from the pool area was through the restaurant and we were denied this even though we had 2 pushchairs So had to struggle up a double stairway to another door. Not acceptable!!

Review 30:Room smelt very strongly of cleaning products. Impossible to adjust or even stop air conditioning. This is controlled from the front desk and because nobody was answering the phone I had to go down there twice. Also, I was unable to get wifi access in the room.

Review 31:The bed was a little firm for me and as it was 2 singles pushed togetherthey separated during the night ...my only small negative

Review 32:Pool area, balcony ,breakfast and located close to Padre Pio church ,very appealing facade we thought they had made a mistake with the roomrate it was so reasonable , would definitely recommend .

Review 33:Old rooms Shower a bit strange Double bed was two single beds instead Position a bit faraway if you want to visit all Gargano

Review 34:Facilities Parking garage Swimming pool cleanless

Review 35:... this hotel is more like soldier barrack rather then hotel, do not waste your money and do not go there....

Review 36:... only location is ok, the rest is bad, really bad,

Review 37:Only one lady who seemed to speak english and she seemed to be annoyed with us much of the time. She seemed to be snooty. Now maybe this was just our perception, but she made me feel uncomfortable to ask questions. For breakfast the men serving us were not very friendly. They, too seemed annoyed when we had questions, like why was the sausage and eggs cold etc. I asked the waiter one night if there was a service charge. I did not like the fact they did not give us charges, but put them on our room bill. He said no service charge so I tipped him fairly well. Next day I asked to see the itemized bills and again, she seemed annoyed with me. We were charged a service fee. Mu ch of this could just be the language barrier. The bathrooms did not seem to have a fan or they said they controlled the fan and A/C on the 3rd floor which was confusing to us but whenever we took a shower the whole room steamed up.

Review 38:We loved the view looking out at night toward the Padre Pio Shrine. We loved the balcony. Our children had a lot of fun in the pool. The food was absolutely amazing at the restaurant. The rooms were small but we liked them.

Review 39:Wifi never worked...would not bring up sign in page

Review 40:Room and breakfast were great.

Review 41:The hotel is nice and quiet. Close to the place I wanted to visit. Staff very nice.

Review 42:Very near the the Shrine of Padre Pio.

Review 43:It's a wonderful hotel, good view of the San Giovanni Rotondo, also the Sanctuary. Value for money

Review 44:Right in front s.Pio shrine, good restaurant

Review 45:Rooms are clean and comfortable. Just a few minutes to the Cathedral of Padre Pio.

Review 46:Staff is not friendly enough and doesn't speak English.

Review 47:Room was a little small

Review 48:Friendly staff, good location, fab outside area

Review 49:The food on restaurant is terrible.

Review 50:Very close to the church; Parking; Breakfast.

Review 51:Lack of entertainment

Review 52:Beautiful place to stay

Review 53:Everthing about your hotel is appealing. Thankyou

Review 54:The staff did not speak english and everyone was rude

Review 55:It was near the Cathedral

Review 56:Great breakfast

Review 57:Lights were switched off early near the pool!!

Review 58:Hotel is very central and staff is very nice. Also the hotel is very clean & reasonable!

Review 59:Poor WiFi. Insufficient air conditioning. The town the hotel is located is quite boring.

Review 60:Garage parking. Good breakfast. Nice surrounding.

Review 61:Beautiful Hotel & few mins walk to Padre Pio Sanctuary.

Review 62:The not so good disable facilities in the room.

Review 63:We were helped very much by the personnel.

Review 64:Very beutiful hotel, exellent garden, room, near to Padre Pio

Review 65:We loved everything

Review 66:Can't see nothing to argue about thanks

Review 67:Very helpful staff

Review 68:Food down at 9am food cold had a meal one evening not the next I feel that the Brit was a bit of a nuisance if you asked for anything

Review 69:Near the church

Review 70:Breakfast take away is not good enough.

Review 71:Lunch is good for the price. Is just a few minutes away from the Basilica.

Review 72:No guest complimentary morning/afternoon tea for this type of hotel

Review 73:Friendly staff

Review 74:no shelves in shower to put toiletries

Review 75:location

Review 76:the location, you had to walk up a very steep hill to get to San Giovanni and this was difficult with suitcases also as I was getting the 5.45 AM bus to Rome there were no taxis nearby the hotel booked a taxi for me the day before I left but it never came

Review 77:the staff were very friendly and very helpful. the rooms were spotless and very comfortable its a very nice hotel to stay in

Review 78:Shower could be bigger and have grab rails We had to pay €120 for a taxi to Bari because we thought "shuttle" meant regular buses from hotel to airport Add "pilgrim" to primary purpose of visit

Review 79:Great room great view lovely bed Great location for St Pio shrine Good food and served really hot General manager very attentive

Review 80:It is not a reflection on the hotel but the town's water supply is extremely over chlorinated. The male reception staff member on our departure was not as friendly or helpful as the others and seemed reluctant to assist.

Review 81:The hotel was fantastic. It's location, facilities, comfort and cleanliness were second to none. We loved our stay and wished we could have stayed longer. The restaurant staff member was exceptional in his help. We would highly recommend the hotel.

Review 82:We booked a 4 night stay. When we got to San Giovanni Rotondo my wife and I decided to check out early. Two nights before our check out we advised the hotel that we will be checking out early. We expected to be charged a cancelation fee but they said that we had to pay the full price of a 4 night stay because we booked with Booking.com. Thus, we were charged accordingly. I do not think that this was fair. Needless to say we will not be booking with Booking.com again nor will be staying at this hotel.

Review 83:I liked the close proximity to the Padre Pio Shrine.

Review 84:The size of the shower; suggest you replace with a unit we used in Assisi;; drain was on floor level with a very slight drift for water to flow; the enclosure was more flexible for bigger people. I didn't have time to check my bill but when I arrived home and looked at the charges from the restaurant it appear we were charge for breakfast; our agreement indicates "Breakfast included" Could you look in to this? Wlith the increase of the knowlege of Padre Pio and shrines being errect in the U S I'm sure more American will be going to San Giovanni Rotondo.

Review 85:The location is great for visiting Padre Pio. The view was excellent to see the valley stretch to the south. The room size was great; we could spread out. The near location of the bus station is a plus. We appreciate the staffs help with our very limited Italian need to stretch to resturant menu. With out a doubt we will be recommending Hotel Gran Paradiso.

Review 86:couldnt connect wifi from room.. needed an iron and wasnt available. A four star hotel should have coffee facilities in room. Also no drawers available to put away clothes. Hotel restaurant not a wide selection of food.

Review 87:The location is near the centre, Hotel clean. Breakfast good.

Review 88:Quite a distance from the town, walkable easily though. Some staff not very inviting, however others were great. Breakfast room was manic, not always much selection of food if it hadn't been replenished. Expect to wait even an hour before breakfast closes to get a table.

Review 89:Comfy looking hotel.

Review 90:when i rang the hotel, the receptionist put the phone down, as she did not speak english, the waiters were rude in the restaurant, it is important to stress that this is a mainly speaking italian hotel, and the location on the sat nav was completely different to the location so some driving around to locate it.

Review 91:The location was great,

Review 92:the room was not prepared enough ( no slippers, not enough towels, the shower box was broken, the exhaust fan was not functioning, the tv had no channels). Though, it is really a thumbs up that the swimming pool area was clean, no food allowed which wa perfect however, hope to have a lifeguard considering that the pool was approximately more than 7 feet deep. Am not saying this just to criticize I just hope that the housekeeping section will be enhanced.

Review 93:Seriously,I appreciated that the staff (front desk) were able to speak in English ( at least conversational) and were pleasant enough. The hotel is literally just across the street from the new chiesa of Padre Pio. Having a dip on the swimming pool was refreshing however there was no lifeguard.

Review 94:Only Italian channels on TV-no effort to have any English speaking news which is crazy in a 4 Star hotel-went to reception about this but no interest.

Review 95:Excellent evening meal and great breakfast. Just opposite St Padre Pio schrine. Very relaxing seating area around bar and fair prices for drinks.

Review 96:Most bad hotel ever had: breakfast: everything was missing, and wasnot filled spontaneously (only on demand), enormous noise (no quiet)during 24h, airco worked only partially during 24h, swimmingpool wasopened a few hours per day, too far from the sanctuary and Climbinghigh to reach it, not willing to give us a solution for ourcomplaints, other people were also complaining about breakfast, and soon... Not te be recommended, nor for individuals, nor for groups. Notworth a 4* hotel!!!

Review 97:Free parking

Review 98:An iron in room or at least borrow one at reception would have been great. Electricity plugging conversion would have made it convenient. More choice of dishes for lunch and dinner.

Review 99:A variety of food during breakfast. Gluten free also available. Friendly restaurant staff. Lovely pool area. Cleanliness especially in rooms.

Review 100:Luxurious accommodation in a huge new building. Great restaurant dinner and breakfast. Staff were not always as friendly as we prefer and took away from the overall experience.

Review 101:Staff spoke only Italian. They had problems locating, right away, staff that could speak English. The person that they located spokeEnglish but not perfect.. They were unable to help with exchangingUSD's into Euros. They suggested banks but local banks onlyexchange for bank clients.

Review 102:Located right next to an historical religious site.

Review 103:Lack of English speaking staff, only one girl could speak English, lackof knowledge of grotto, menu in Italian & waiters unable to convertto English, ignorant waiters

Review 104:The room was so comfortable, value for money, close proximity tosanctuary, close proximity to bus station, new, clean, modern

Review 105:Food fantastic very cheap service great great English

Review 106:No English menu.

Review 107:Patricia and Mary in reception

Review 108:very good location, good breakfast, nice staff!!!

Review 109:The restaurant food and service

Review 110:Reception and bar staff member were very helpful

Review 111:No hot pool facility. Lighting in room

Review 112:Convenience to peadair Pio

Review 113:1 member of staff on desk when we arrived

Review 114:the location , it was very convenient for the airport

Review 115:Everything

Review 116:Hotel was super value. We were going to the Shrine and location was perfect. Breakfast was over too early. We missed it. Thank you

Review 117:.dreadful attitude from staff, overpriced rooms , lack of air conditioning, impersonal hotel and traffic noise
