Reviews for Hotel Villa Adriana
Review 1:Very quiet, peaceful retreat close enough to walk from the train station, yet away from the noise. We had a nice balcony with view of the sea. Breakfast was good.
Review 2:Can't think of anything.
Review 3:Great view of the sea. Closeness to everything, including the Michelin-rated restaurant called Mikys. Also easy walk from the train station.
Review 4:Brown blanket. Should change to duvet. Shower area is too small. No lift to the 4th floor.
Review 5:The hotel has car park. Good breakfast. Nice staff. Adequate travel information.
Review 6:The Hotel Villa Adriana is in a great location just off the beaten path but still only a block or two from the water. The staff was very friendly and the hotel was very clean. All in all a nice place to stay when visiting Cinque Terre.
Review 7:What do the Europeans have against window screens? The nights were cool but we could not leave the windows open and had to use the air conditioner.
Review 8:The location was perfect and the option of eating dinner (a good dinner at a reasonable price) in the hotel after a long day was very welcome.
Review 9:Nothing negative to say. Breakfast was good. Room was good. It's a good place for the area.
Review 10:On the "quiet side", just a five minute walk or so to the old town. Very good location.
Review 11:Maids started cleaning the room next door at 8am. Walls are thin and they were so loud sounded like they were renovating! Don't start cleaning until later in am so guests can sleep in if they want.
Review 12:Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 13:The staff was very friendly and took excellent care of us. Breakfast was good, and having it in the beautiful palm garden made it even better. The rooms were clean and spacious, calm and quiet. Excellent start for our Cinque Terre autumn holiday.
Review 14:The location was perfect within walking to town and the train station. The meals per wonderful and the staff very attentive. I asked for a sea view and had a beautiful patio with the best view.
Review 15:Poor internet ... Virtually none , no tissue in the room, no garbage can in room .. Small one in bathroom
Review 16:Cleanliness ... Great staff... Great food ... Convenient
Review 17:The shower is not wide enough for chunky people. Very tight squeeze!
Review 18:The colazione, the staff, the grounds and pool, every thing spotless. Near to beach and train station.
Review 19:Go for the balcony and its serene view of the mountains and the Mediterranean. Enjoy a Prosecco or caffe looking at Your garden of Palm trees. Dinner and breakfast were both really good. Italy is land of the mediocre breakfast, so this is an unheard of exception. BACON. Also land of the absurdly small shower-no exception here. Bed was lovely. A strong 3* option. Great location in new town across the street from the only luxury hotel in town.
Review 20:Room leaves much to be desired...single room is very basic and a bit like a boarding school room...
Review 21:Location is good. Very clean. Nice Breakfast and nice grounds.
Review 22:Maybe it was my phone but the WiFi kept disconnecting, I woke up with some back pain but I can also blame my intense hikes for that!
Review 23:The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, the breakfast was amazing too with a beautiful garden setting. Also, I requested an upper-floor room and they have given me a room on the top floor with an amazing view of the beach and the houses.
Review 24:Very peaceful. Great breakfast. Perfect place to start your cinque terra hike or just enjoy the coast thus is a stress free place to stay in the cinque terra. Near the train near the beach no stairs to climb with luggage ;)
Review 25:Perfect accommodations for a solo traveler doing a quick stop over. Hotel was clean, breakfast was delicious and staff was very helpful! Very pleased with my stay!
Review 26:No soft tissues given in room
Review 27:Excellent location just 5 minutes walk from station, clean and comfy rooms, ample amount of space and facility of a pool. Situated in best of 5 villages of Cinque terre.
Review 28:Weak wifi in the second (upper) building. Would've been nice to have air conditioning in the public spaces.
Review 29:Excellent breakfast. Nice rooms with beautiful views. The pool was an excellent place to spend the hottest hours of the day, when the beach was simply too hot.
Review 30:Steep hill to reception.
Review 31:Half board option..Great after a hike in the terraces, to go back and shower and have dinner waiting..great location..quite area.
Review 32:You do have to walk up a bit of a hill to the front door. But it is Italy!
Review 33:Great location! They property was easy to find, the pictures don't do it justice and is much closer to city center than the pictures make it appear.
Review 34:Furnishings could use some sprucing up.
Review 35:Surprisingly pleased. Great choice for people that prefer comfort of a traditional hotel to something a bit more "charming". Liked the location in newer area and had some amazing views. Not cheap but very nice stay.
Review 36:Excellent place! Extremely nice personnel. Palm trees, lavish garden and a pool. Free bicycles to ride around town. Private and safe parking lot. Definitely a place to stay!
Review 37:Need to get a chef who has more imagination than serving boiled vegetables from time to time. There is much more to food than desserts, especially for people who prefer savoury dishes.
Review 38:Ability to leave car in car park and explore the area on foot and by public transport.
Review 39:Quite a steep hill on approach Bed was uncomfortable
Review 40:Huge balcony Large room wit good aircon room nice breakfast Quiet location but not too far from the action Friendly staff
Review 41:Bathroom small but adequate.
Review 42:Great little hotel, very helpful staff, far end of the beach but I view that as a good thing as away from the tourists but very quick to walk in when needed. Lovely pool, good breakfast, comfy room and other guests pretty chilled !
Review 43:The hotel is not extravagant, but is nice, clean, and had everything I needed. The staff was friendly and helpful. I also appreciated that the hotel and the grounds provided a bit of an escape from the crowds and heat of Monterosso.
Review 44:Nothing not to like.
Review 45:Surrounding grounds were peaceful and beautiful. Breakfast was very good with friendly service in a beautiful setting. Dinner option was usually very good and very reasonably priced.
Review 46:Rooms are quite Spartan in appearance and the hotel needs interior decorating renovations. Some of the rooms are tiny so book asking for a larger room. The staff borders on disinterested to rude not expected in An Italian hotel
Review 47:Location excellent in Monterosso Al Mare. Grounds are nice and breakfast excellent. Free parking on site which is unusual for Monterosso hotels and quick walk to beach
Review 48:The area was beautiful in this little campground, there were fireflies! It was a bit of a distance from everything but we were expecting that as we had found it on a map and read reviews prior. We still ended up walking everywhere and though it took around 40 minutes it was a nice walk and was easy to find!
Review 49:The gardens make this a little oasis of calm. The food was wonderful. The location is a couple of minutes walk from the beach, 5 mins to the station and max 10 to the old town.
Review 50:Wifi seemed unreliable
Review 51:Slightly off the well beaten tourist track thus hotel offered quiet comfort within easy walking distance to the beaches, station, restaurants and the Cinque Terre trails.
Review 52:I was given a twin room as opposed to a double despite receiving confirmation that a double was booked for me. To their credit they did offer to change it for me the next night. I didn't want to move though as my room had such a wonderful outlook. It was not a cheap option, but given that you are paying for the great location and the privilege of having a swimming pool I don't regret spending the money.
Review 53:I loved the location, it was very tranquil and surrounded by beautiful natural environment. Really nice to have a swimming pool for the hot afternoons, especially as the beach at Monterosso is crowded and not free. The room was very clean, with a spacious bathroom and nice firm bed. The balcony had a view of the hills and at night the stars, it was breathtaking. The smell of the pine trees and the flowers and herbs from the garden was delightful. It was a great place to be as a solo traveller who likes a simple, high quality, quiet and relaxing place to stay. The staff were helpful and gave me some good tips about walking in the Cinque Terre.
Review 54:Steep driveway and no service to help you up with your luggage. Ok as we had 2 boys to help us up but would be tough for older couple traveling alone. Staff was not overly friendly.
Review 55:Large rooms and bathroom. Nice terrace and beatifull grounds. Breakfast was good. Short walk from train. Rooms were very clean.
Review 56:Comfortable, clean room with a little balcony in an easy-to-get-to location. The staff was super friendly and printer out a couple things we needed. The breakfast was delicious with alot of options and the little terrace was lovely!
Review 57:An excellent hotel, our room was spacious, clean, updated, with a nice balcony. The included breakfast had plenty of food and a nice balcony to sit to eat. We used the pool and used the hotel for hiking in the Cinque Terre trails. The staff was very friendly and helpfull
Review 58:Would be better if the bar offers more variety of drinks!!
Review 59:Very scenic garden, quiet but convenient location; great breakfast and outdoor pool Will definitely pay another visit
Review 60:WiFi with weak signal
Review 61:Good location was excellent within 10-minute walking distance from the Monterosso rail station and close to beach. Breakfast buffet was good with a degree of selection. I had 3-course dinner including salad buffet, which was also excellent with a reasonable price. Would recommend this hotel.
Review 62:The towels and sheets are very fragrant, as is the room, too much so.
Review 63:The property is lovely, like an upscale resort in the tropics. The room, actually it's a suite was beautiful and comfortable. great couches, tables, desk. Lots of closet space. double doors open to deck. Balcony was great to hang out on. Breakfast was very good with a big selection. Outdoor breakfast area and enclosed porch is great. The staff is fantastic, and very helpful.
Review 64:Twin bedroom was small and reception staff wasn't able to advise well on suitable walks - but I'm nitpicking here, I would happily stay again and recommend to friends!
Review 65:Great breakfast selection, friendly staff, very clean, free bike hire, quiet location.
Review 66:Would go for room with balcony next time (quad room in attic has small high windows)
Review 67:Spotless, friendly staff & great location within walking distance from train station
Review 68:Hotel close to beach, very clean and bright (lots of natural light). The pool area was nice but not used as the lovely beach was so close. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included in room, a great selection on offer.
Review 69:Uncomfortable bed and pillow. Cold room at night and NO Heat!!
Review 70:The room was just what I needed, the view was fantastic!! The location is good, its not central but its good - because when your walking nonstop all day whats 5 more minutes?
Review 71:Wi-fi worked sporadically.
Review 72:The setting of the hotel was so peaceful. The trees, gardens and birds were delightful. we enjoyed sitting on the deck looking out towards the water and eating breakfast on the deck was so relaxing.
Review 73:It is on the far end of town, so a bit of walking is required.
Review 74:I had a lovely balcony with a view of the sea. Great breakfast buffet, and the meal option was tempting, but I took my dinners in the town.
Review 75:Staff were so knowlegble and helpful. More so than the TI. Offered a number of options and recommendations for our hiking days. Due to very early departure offered "breakfast to go"
Review 76:I got this hotel last minute before my trip to Italy. It was a very reasonable price compared to the other hotels in Monterosso. It is very close to the water but far enough away from foot traffic to be quiet. The staff spoke english and were very friendly and helpful with dinner recommendations, rail times, and trails to hike. The room was clean and quiet. It was hot so had to keep the patio door open because the airconditioning was off. Free continental breakfast was good. Wifi was intermittent but okay since I really just wanted to get outside. Id recommend this place to my friends.
Review 77:The staff was so kind and helpful! After a long journey through Rome and Florence, Monterosso was a welcomed break. The staff made this place feel like a bed and breakfast. Can't recommend them high enough.
Review 78:The bed could have been a little more comfortable, but again, it was better than more expensive hotels I've stayed throughout Italy.
Review 79:Travelling as a female and solo, I was a bit intimidated and you never know what to expect from the ratings or reviews. The walk from the small train station was less than 10 minutes and the property was beautiful. I had a small room, but it was perfectly adequate and clean for a single traveler. The breakfast offered was much better than many Italian hotels and staff was friendly. Location was convenient and the beach, trails, restaurants and shops were only a few minutes walk away.
Review 80:The staff was very helpful with any questions we had. They were very friendly and very accomodating. We were very impressed that since we were checking out early and wouldn't be there for breakfast, they packed us a breakfast to have on the train. This was much more than we expected, and we really appreciated it!
Review 81:I made a mistake with the booking and ended up with a small bed, but this was my fault.
Review 82:The location is outstanding and the food is excellent and fairly priced. They have an evening cold buffet for 10 Euros and the breakfast is excellent for 15 Euros. They also provide free bicycles to use which was a treat. Highly recommended.
Review 83:The hotel staff were helpful and friendly. There were many options for breakfast. The parking was secure and there were lot's of spaces. I would have liked to use the pool but it was too cold. A great place to stay in Monterosso.
Review 84:Wifi was a bit spotty, in and out at times and not particularly fast. A couple of the evening meals had overcooked fish entrees, but take into consideration I like sashimi.
Review 85:The Villa is very clean and accommodating. The grounds are lovely, there are bikes available to guests. A 5 minute walk to the beach and the main walkway, though about fifteen minutes walk from the old part of town. The folks were able to accommodate my gluten free diet at breakfast and dinner. I chose the 'half board' option which included dinner, a bargain for sure, but plan around the dining time of 7:30pm. Breakfast was terrific with plenty of fruits, yogurts, meats/cheeses, and my fav: scrambled eggs aplenty. The staff was patient with my attempts at speaking Italian and most spoke passable English. I would definitely stay here again. I discovered the bidet is terrific for washing 'beach feet!'
Review 86:The wi-fi cut off intermittently, but Judith had it under control and always got it promptly fixed and she told be this was only a temporary problem.
Review 87:Second visit here, even better than the first - got a lovely room on the 3rd floor with an unforgettable sea view, extremely welcome and free parking. The location is perfect, on a quiet street just 5 minutes brisk walk to the train station, which enables to visit the whole Cinqueterre, and just 15 minutes from the historical centre of the village (though there are plenty of nice bars and restaurants on the waterfront by the station), I can highly recommend Villa Adriana and will stay there again on my next visit!
Review 88:Small room and overly big bathroom which could have had it's own bed! Had a Easter dinner and all guest got to fill out choice for dinner- we were not offered dinner - it was odd! Wifi not working often
Review 89:Buffet breakfast ! Close to old town
Review 90:Everything has been wonderful! Great location, very easy access to anywhere you'll need to go in Monterosso and Cinque Terre, but sits in the tranquil residential area. Facility and staff are all great. Too bad my stay was short and early in spring so didn't get to enjoy the garden and pool as much as I'd like to.. The hotel conveniently offers a decent and quite healthy dinner. My only suggestion here is that, if there's no specific reason that you'd prefer to dine in the hotel, just 10-15 minutes walk will lead you to a lot of good choice of fantastic experience of Italian cuisine.
Review 91:I was happy to find that the hotel was less than 10 minutes walk from the train Station. It's perfect if you have more than one bag to pull. Very clean facilities. Friendly and helpful staff, and great breakfast! Highly recommended!!
Review 92:Excessive noise generated by servers in dining area (clanging plates, etc.). Too far from Florence. All residential neighborhood lacks services for travelers. Small, unheated pool more for effect than use. Lack of exercise facilities. Staff clearly done with travelers for this season (early Oct.). Tiny TV. North-facing room (deck).
Review 93:Breakfast was good. The room was cleaned every day. Good size deck off the room.
Review 94:I hadn't realized this was an all-inclusive (breakfast and dinner = half board I guess). There were a lot of restaurants in the area for dinner but I felt locked in to this one. Food was good. Everyone had to eat at the same time so that was somewhat limiting. Depends on what you are looking for. Walk from road to hotel itself was steep. I was OK with it but an older person may have some trouble, especially with luggage.
Review 95:Location was good Food was good and plentiful (too much!) Property had a pool I didn't get to use but it looked nice.
Review 96:Because of the way it is configured, we had to log on every time we used the Wi-fi. And, it was not secure even though it required a password to use it.
Review 97:Although Monterosso is at the end of the chain of the 5 villages, this was the best and most comfortable area of the 5. Right on the ocean with a beach, Monterosso seems to be a little more modern, yet does not lose its charm. The hotel was an absolute delight with an amazing breakfast and very comfortable room with a balcony. Perfect for us.
Review 98:Going back to the real life...
Review 99:The place was very clean and the room was comfortable. The breakfast was splendid and good WiFi signal all over the place. Very close to the beach and train station. Good and helpful staff.
Review 100:bedroom was on the small side, decor rather dated
Review 101:grounds were beautiful, lush tropical landscape, tucked away a bit for quiet but convenient to everything excellent breakfast included comfortable beds large bath all very clean
Review 102:We had an extremely enjoyable experience at the Villa Adriana. The hotel exceeded our expectations. The facility was well cared for. The staff was very helpful. The breakfast was delicious.
Review 103:It looks like a church (with cross in every room(!), finishing really cheap, one weekend gave me the feeling of been in hospital. Wifi not stable and the breakfast is poor. they asked us to leave at 10.30(!) too early for sunday morning!!
Review 104:The place is clean and very quiet. Comfortable because of the parking and the train station not too far
Review 105:Great balcony view, huge variety at the breakfast buffet, very close to the station and sea front in monterosso, great facilities and helpful staff. Will definitely return.
Review 106:No tea or coffee making facility in rooms! No small fridge in room. Pay for pool/beach towels! Luggage problems getting from street front to hotel reception. ALL eggs at breakfast HARD boiled.
Review 107:Hotel gardens. Proximity to beach, in quieter end of Monterosso. Nice room.
Review 108:Nothing
Review 109:We stayed at Hotel Villa Adriana for 3 nights at the end of a 5 week trip through Europe. It was a fantastic place to rest after a travelling for weeks. Easy walk from Monterosso train Station. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was generous. Pool was great for kids.
Review 110:We were 2 couples traveling together and so booked a quad. It was top floor but unfortunately no place to sit and visit. We only stayed 2 nights, if we were to be there longer, we would have requested other accommodations.
Review 111:This area was a definite favorite spot on our three week trip to Europe. Location was great, close to the beach and walking to the restaurants. We chose this hotel because we were traveling with a car and the parking was perfect.
Review 112:Accommodations, decor and bathroom feel and appear institutional.
Review 113:Location was perfect. Within walking distance of train station and restaurants, shopping, beach and ferries.
Review 114:More than 7 minute walk (at least with luggage) from rail station.
Review 115:Large, comfortable room. Helpful staff. Immaculate grounds. Very good value for optional in hotel dinner. Overall, good value for price.
Review 116:You can hear the sound of the adjacent rooms. The shower stall is very small. The internet connection is spotty.
Review 117:Clean and comfortable room. It is on a quite street and surrounded by mature trees. The dining room is large and nice. Free parking at the site.
Review 118:There was train passing almost every hour even at night. It woke me up everysingle time. Don't eat dinner in the hotel restaurant. Felt like retirement home. Go out soooo many great choices even one restaurant that was nominated by Michelin.
Review 119:How close was to everything.
Review 120:Staff were not helpful. Did not mention to make dinner reservations for restaurant. Did not offer wi-fi info. Can be steep for older people
Review 121:Location was closer to the train station than the historical center. Close to restaurants. Great parking
Review 122:Small shower space, it's at the far edge of the new town (but still close to everything distance wise), and hotel staff could be friendlier.
Review 123:Clean, plenty of amenities, and a short walk to the train station and the old town. Also a laundromat near by that will do one load of dirty clothes for less than USD 20 and deliver back to the hotel.
Review 124:The room was so cold..I asked to heat my room but the staff refused..they specified they offered heating system on booking.com..and they not offered slippers, tissues...the receptionist were not kind...there was no kettle so asked them hot water they looked me strange...i felt so unpleasant...
Review 125:Nothing...
Review 126:The internet speed is slow, but at least it's free! I would haveliked a paid option for at least some faster service. Some days you justneed to be connected.
Review 127:It is so clean and very easy to get to. When it comes to finding a goodspot in Cinque Terre, it's hard to find a place that has parking, iseasy access from the train station (E.G., Corniglia is a long climb fromthe train station), and is clean. I thought it was very good value formoney. My one complaint is its internet speed, but it's free so Iguess it's hard to complain.
The Fine Print
Dinner is served at 7:30 pm.
