Reviews for Hotel lo Stambecco
Review 1:whole of the hotel could do with up date
Review 2:great for the skiing skiing out and in.chair lifts and gondolas right out side the hotel front door . good storage area for ski/boots. lots of food for breakfast and evening meals.staff very helpful.hotel at 2500 meters
Review 3:Small rooms, some dust under the beds.
Review 4:Everything very good. Also the dinner is good now, much better then 2 years ago. Good sauna and massages after skiing.
Review 5:Too hot at night. Difficult to sleep. No connection to the main town. Nothing open in the area after 4pm. Bar area limited. Ran out of red wine. Couldn't provide a hot wine. Charged for water at dinner without telling you. No decent view from Window. Walls are thin. Can here neighbors talking. Dust under the beds. Beds were very basic. So overall a bit expensive. I'd rate it as a 2 star hotel. Should have spaces for sheltered parking as had to dig car out twice & it was damaged by day parkers.
Review 6:Food was plentiful. Little expensive for what it was thought. Ski storage was ok. Great place if you just want to ski as nothing to do between last cable car up to the hotel at 4.30 & dinner.
Review 7:My wife found the bathroom lacking in waist height bench space and the toilet was a little too unconventional- and we've travelled quite extensively.
Review 8:The meals and service were very impressive. Unparalleled location.
Review 9:The heating goes on and off which causes very hot rooms at times during the night, followed by freezing cold moments. One should be aware that the hotel restaurant is the only dinner option, which means that you might as well book the half-board since you will eat there every evening anyway. The coordination between the restaurant staff and the reception was not the best and our communication regarding dinner reservations was friendly but very confused. Lift passes were sometimes available for purchase in the reception and sometimes not, depending on if the software worked. If not, you have to buy in the Cervinia village. The hotel lobby area was almost non-existent. Instead there was a big playroom for kids with furniture that has seen better days. This is a great place to stay for a couple of days but after that you long for your own comfortable bed and less confused staff around you.
Review 10:For the price this is a decent place to stay if you don't have too high expectations. Bed is ok comfort, clean rooms and hot shower. Staff is very friendly. The food is pretty good, although not the fantastic food Italy can sometimes offer. We had plenty of lunch in the slopes during the day and weren't too picky. After dinner entertainment (coordinated dance, karaoke) was hilarious! Spa area was great. Wifi worked perfectly on my phone, even in the hotel room, but not for my friends who could only access internet in the lobby.
Review 11:Food could have been better but it was still ok.
Review 12:Relaxed friendly hotel. Great location. Food ok. Pool and ping pong table. Basic but very satisfactory accommodation. Great views. Kids can run around and be noisy my children loved it.
Review 13:Hotel was understaffed, which is appealing in high season, and it was sufficient that one of the stuff members was sick that they were not able to run the children-club. Hotel looked very tired (renovation extremely needed)
Review 14:Location is amazing, by staying in this hotel you save yourself (on peak season) at least an hour cueing to get to the sky slopes. If you start cueing 13 minutes before the funivia opens, you will be in front of the cue (at 8.30 the people who cued for an hour at the gondola at the lower level will commence arriving). The stuff is very pleasant and helpful.
Review 15:No butter by the breakfast, to noisy corridor by the rooms. Very cold inside the room, we have ask a extra blanket for the night ( in the middle of te summer )
Review 16:nice hotel, very friendly personal, good food and the breakfast was poor. Very quit and beautefull location. The cablecar was free.
Review 17:Nothing at all.
Review 18:Lo Stambecco was perfect for our needs. We were mountaineers aiming for the high tops and at 2500m Lo Stambecco was perfect for getting partly acclimatised as well as recovering in between trips. The food was unbelievable for the price we were paying. Both Quality, Quantity, Nutritious and tasty. Just as well we were mountaineering otherwise we would have become rolly-polly after over sampling the plentiful cuisine. The price for the whole experience for superb for budget conscious mountaineers
Review 19:Without doubt, the warmest welcome and the best value stay, with three children, ever. Despite our demands, the hotel and staff did everything to make our stay as wonderful as possible; and it was. Top food, top service, a top time had by all.
Review 20:Meal system, it wasn't explained Rooms very small and basic, but not there for a room.
Review 21:Location is second to none, literally on the slopes. staff really helpful Plenty of things for the kids to do after skiing considering isolation.
Review 22:Smells a bit funny, like wet dog :/ Bring your own towels! (for real) The ones provided are non-cloth ones. After the lift to the hotel closes, you are trapped there so the only choice for dinner is the one hotel restaurant, which is decent but expensive, and I wish it weren't the only choice.
Review 23:Staff is very friendly. Food is not bad. Location can't be beat, ski lifts are in same building as the hotel. We could say good morning to the Matterhorn outside our window everyday. Having the lifts right there or being able to ski from the hotel is helpful to take advantage of the ski day since there is no night skiing around there. All the lifts are closed before 5pm. Bar and game areas are good for meeting other guests and hanging out. We met some nutty characters at the bar that made our stay fun.
Review 24:The hotel is basic at best, run by teenaged girls who try to be helpful, using a booking system that doesn't work all the time*. When the weather is bad you are stuck, as we were in the village for a day when high winds shut all lifts, or in the hotel with its ancient games room and bar. We had to get back to the hotel in piste basher which nearly overheated carrying 20 people and luggage, most had just arrived to stay! *We were asked if we could move out the day before we were due to leave, because they had no idea about the length of our booking.
Review 25:If you like being half way up the mountain away from the village with no escape after 4-5pm every day, you'll love it! The restaurant food and staff were both good. Lift piste access is excellent.
Review 26:It didn't feel welcoming - they forgot to clean the room for two days, constantly mixed number of people in our room (missing towels, soaps), didn't renew shampoos, the fruit compote for the breakfast was sour. All these little things added up to feeling that the well-being of guests didn't matter for them.
Review 27:Evening entertainers tried their best.
Review 28:Booking.com totally misrepresents this hotel. It can only be accessed by cable car until 1630. It is 2600 metres above sea level and my wife and I could not sleep due to altitude sickness we stayed for one night and checked in to a hotel in the village at 2000 meters. You are literally trapped in this place one the lifts stop. The beds are like camp beds. We missed the last lift back up and were then charged 40 euros by the hotel for a terrifying skidew ride back up. The driver was racing his friend. The air temp was -14 and at 50 miles per hour I thought the skin on my face would burn off. A dreadful hotel and a dreadful experience
Review 29:poor facilities to compensate for isolated location. Inadequate and erratic wifi. Room very basic relative to cost
Review 30:Excellent location for skiing, staff very helpful
Review 31:If you need any kind of room comfort during your stay - be prepared that there is none. I got a dirty poorly furnished room with one good thing about it - I had to stay only two nights. To give you a flavor of facilities - toilet was without a toilet seat.
Review 32:This hotel is about location - it is in a building of a ski lift, 2500 meters high (500 up from Chervinia) facing Matterhorn. Beautiful
Review 33:No way to town after lift closes. Beds were a little uncomfortable.
Review 34:Food was great!if your plan is to just ski, this is a goof place. Not the most modern butgl great location for ski in/ski out!
Review 35:* heating was a bit high in common areas. * cable car closed when we arrived due to strong winds which made it a long wait to be able to reach accomodation location (place not easily accessible when cable cars are shut)
Review 36:* old style but comfortable * right in the heart of the mountains *good games facilities for when you are snowed in
Review 37:Linen and towels were super clean and freshly laundered, but room floor needs to be cleaned better
Review 38:The views are spectacular from all rooms, staff is friendly and available at all times, food is really superlative
Review 39:Can be hard to access the hotel once the cable car stops in the evening. Occasionally had a long wait for the snowmobile
Review 40:The location is amazing, literally ski in and out
Review 41:- This is a hotel for very specific people; only for young low budget skiers; The ski taxi that takes you at the hotel after 4.30pm is a ski mobile! You need full ski equipment, goggles, helmet, gloves to handle the cold when going up the mountain. Totally unsuitable for families and couples. The young skiers would either use this or in case they use the cable earlier would not mind being isolated at the property afterhours -Hotel had a heating issue after 5am in the morning -Very poor quality blankets, unacceptable for a hotel inside the piste.
Review 42:-Location (ski in / ski out) -WiFi coverage -Friendly staff
Review 43:The room. Quite cold, strong smell of varnish. Old furniture, only four tv channels. No warm-boots in ski room. The staff can't no ski - pass from reception, so you have to wait until 10.30 or go down to the office and then up again to the tracks. A total nonsense and waste of time (more than 1 hour). Why choose an hotel so placed if you have to go down again to Breuil to get skipass?
Review 44:Location. A hotel with a view, on the ski tracks. Good, friendly staff. Reasonable quality of dinner.
Review 45:Staff is good, polite and helpful.
Review 46:bad sound insulation, you can hear all in hall and in neighboring room.
Review 47:the main advantage of this hotel is the possibility to ski from door.
Review 48:Rooms need upgrade and were cold as heating was switched off at night
Review 49:Staff very friendly and helpful
Review 50:The room was really hot.
Review 51:The location was right on the mountain. Get up and go skiing. Food was plentiful.
Review 52:You can not get to hotel directly
Review 53:Nothing special
Review 54:WiFi is woefully slow
Review 55:Already in the mountains at start of day
Review 56:staff and bestest location!!!!
Review 57:service with a smile
Review 58:Leaving
Review 59:Location, staff, food
Review 60:room size
Review 61:dinner staff location
Review 62:Facilities are a bit old
Review 63:Staff is super nice Location is just epic
Review 64:not possible to control or switch off the heating in the room.
Review 65:excelent location
Review 66:bed, sledge service, blankets, room facilities
Review 67:value for money and location.waiters were awesome
Review 68:The beds and towels! We could have done with an extra blanket as we were sleeping under a sheet and light cover!! The walls between rooms seemed very thin as we could hear everything our neighbours said! Otherwise, everything was very good!
Review 69:The kitchen staff and food. It's a great location. The games room.
Review 70:We arrived late and although the ski-doo ride was exciting and we were offered a welcome drink we were not offered a meal though we had booked half board. We had eaten already so did not ask but I was surprised that at least some main part of the normal four-course meal was not offered. Our room was a bit cold by the morning but this may have been a one-off as our friends did not find their room cold.
Review 71:This is a great place to stay to ski-in and ski-out and with ski hire shop, ski pass shop and a choice of ski schools just outside the hotel everything is on hand to get on the slopes very quickly (within business hours 830 to 1700 for the time we were there 2nd week of April). The normal way to reach the Hotel is by cable lift but as that runs on normal ski lift times we had a ski-doo taxi to the hotel (payable per head) which was a fun way to start the holiday. The hotel offers a number of sitting areas and include a pool table, table tennis and table football for free. For the location and hospitality of the staff I would certainly consider returning.
Review 72:I was 5th time in this hotel, and nothing has been changed in the rooms as well as in the lobby except fireplace which has been sheltered by piano. No any renovation of the rooms which are the same as before even though the hotel has been taken over by other Company.
Review 73:The location of the hotel, nice and helpful staff, good food. Very clean.
Review 74:The hotel could use some updating in rooms and lobby. You must get a snow bike ride (20€) each way outside of gondola operating hours.
Review 75:The hotel us situated at Plan Maison which is great for the serious skiers. The food was plentiful and very good. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous.
Review 76:Rooms were a bit cold a couple of nights... it didn't seem like the radiators were working too well. And that was in spring! I wouldn't like to know how cold it might get during January/February!
Review 77:Location location location! Guaranteed first tracks from Plan Maison to Cervinia before the first lifts start each morning. I would recommend coming here in spring when the winter weather has calmed down... Cervinia is high enough to have excellent snow throughout March and April, and we enjoyed 4 straight days of still, cloudless weather. Make sure to book full board as there are no other options for dinner, you can't get back from Cervinia after 5:30! Both breakfast and dinner were excellent with enormous amounts of food, and excellent service from the staff. Will definitely be back.
Review 78:no answer received from the hotel despite several emails. lack of clear information on booking.com on how to reach the hotel once the ski lifts are closed
Review 79:great remote location meaning also difficulty to reach it
Review 80:Poor breakfast, hotel is isolated, and after 16:50 you cannot leave thehotel or come back, unless you pay 20 euro per person. For two days theyforgot to clean our rooms. No shampoo We had to ask for clean towels andtoilet paper all the time.
Review 81:Nice room, nice dining room
Review 82:Do not stay here!!!! Every morning the rude manager in the restaurant was angry with us; for wanting eggs, bread, milk, plates...anything you Would expect at breakfast. Not cleaned rooms, no pick-up when promised, salted bill - horrible experience.
Review 83:Nothing
Review 84:Beds were slightly uncomfortable. Walls were thin so you could hear noises of next room.
Review 85:Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The facility is right on the mountain in the building with the chairlift. Limited access to the hotel after hours. Breakfast was good. Not a fancy hotel but clean and a good value with a great location.
Review 86:Cablecar runs only until 4.40 pm! Room and common area was dusty. Don't leave you skigears outside of the building even 10 minutes, they will be stolen!
Review 87:Location is perfect if you want only ski.
Review 88:Very poor wifi "Stuck at the hotel after 16:45, no lifts downtown. Lack of information that there are no lifts after 16:45 to downtown Olympic Games and merely no good TV-oppurtinity. Instead political Italian talks on TV at reception. Where was the "Cervinian feeling"? In the dining hall there weew 5-6 spanish ventiladors on the wall (sun fan). By small changes they could get it really nice. But do they need to?
Review 89:Where the hotel was suited. The happy staff
Review 90:Maitre in the restaurant was horrible with the staff.
Review 91:Very friendly staff, cool location and great food! Elia, one of the team member has been amazing, always ready to help us! We had fun playing pool table.
Review 92:Really is a 1 star joint! Food was truck stop style (ate a dinner and a breakfast). No-one contacted me to advise that there would be a 20E per person cost for late check-in despite clearly noting this on the booking form.
Review 93:Ricardo coming to fetch us on a snowmobile at 845pm whilst snowing. Totally unexpected but a thrilling ride and great experience.
Review 94:no communication from the hotel before check-in despite several sent emails; difficulty to reach the hotel after 16.40h.
Review 95:good location off piste
Review 96:Not the place to stay if you want apres ski scene
Review 97:Nice, helpful staff. Being on the mountain, ski in/out.
Review 98:wi-fi internet worked only in the lobby
Review 99:the staff, the location,
Review 100:Can't get down to the town at night easily.
Review 101:Location, ski in ski out.
Review 102:-Fantastic location -Great staff -Room large enough -Not fancy, older, but comfortable
