Reviews for La Serra Sul Mare
Review 1:Limited shuttle service back to the hotel from town.
Review 2:Fabulous, abundant, home made breakfast is included with your room price! It included egg omelette, croissant, crepe, fresh fruit, cappuccino, etc. Location was a 10-minute walk down the hill to the center of Monterosso...hotel is serene, peaceful and quiet.
Review 3:Can't think of a single thing!
Review 4:The awesome view, the gorgeous room, the friendly staff, the overwhelming 6 course breakfast (which counted as lunch also), the tranquility.
Review 5:Only criticism is that the rooms have thin walls and one night it was noisy with someone moving furniture, the other from breakfast preparation.
Review 6:Excellent location with parking. Breakfast was amazing- the courses went on and on ...
Review 7:Even Mo Farah would struggle to get back from town in 10 minutes. It's a 15-20 walk up a step hill! Good but expensive.
Review 8:Lovely people who made us feel wonderfully at home ... and delicious breakfast!
Review 9:My only complaints would be that there isn't wifi, and that the bed was VERY firm. But really, there is no better place to disconnect from your phone/internet than this beautiful hotel with a view.
Review 10:There wasn't much that I can think of that we didn't LOVE about this property. The staff was incredibly warm and helpful, the views were AMAZING and it's just a quick downhill walk to town (you will want to take their complimentary taxi service back up). The hotel rooms are spacious and charming. Breakfast was also exceptional (which I never say about breakfast).
Review 11:The views of the Mediteranian were fabulous and the breakfast each morning was a gourmet feast! We also liked being up higher above the town with a very serene setting. Staff was great and very accomodating.
Review 12:If you can find a fault here then you are way too picky. This place is sensational.
Review 13:There is nothing I can fault with this premium lodging. The presentation was superb, the breakfast indescribably amazing and the view stunning. Will definitely make my way back there again in this lifetime!!
Review 14:no wifi ,however there was an Internet cafe in the old town,it was stated no internet on booking .com
Review 15:The quiet location and the amazing breakfasts The shuttle bus from the town and railway station
Review 16:wish we could have stayed another night!
Review 17:greeted by lovely host with afternoon tea and a glass of wine. breakfast was amazing. can walk into town downhill, and walk back up to work off all the good food! (could have caught the shuttle if necessary)
Review 18:position and link services. A bit out of the city.
Review 19:The view was wonderful during the morning and sunset. Room was very big and comfortable. breakfast was fantastic
Review 20:Large clean new rooms ,beautifully decorated spacious bathrooms .great view of the sea .safe in bedroom .short walk to beach .parking available .breakfast was amazing .staff wonderful .
Review 21:Everyone was writing about it and it is soooo true! The view and the breakfast...amazing!!! Just a few rooms, all with a stunning seaview to dream away after a day hiking the cinque terre. Well that is if you get that far after the out of this world breakfast. Take it from someone who is married to an Italian woman (so used to great Italian food)...you will not only be amazed but for sure able to save money on lunch because this will fill your belly for the hours to come.Very nice staff and super helpful on top of that. So big recommendation!
Review 22:Nothing!
Review 23:What a wonderful place. You have a cottage up in the mountain with a spectacular view. We enjoyed the small balcony so we could relax and watch the boats go by. The breakfast is amazing and the staff is also very friendly and welcoming. The taxi service is a plus as when we were in Monterosso it was very hot, so we could take a taxi to town for dinner at night, free no charge.
Review 24:Absolutely nothing....
Review 25:We arrived to be greeted by the wonderful Francesca, whose local knowledge is fabulous and very informative. We spent a lovely night in the old town and then woke up to the most delicious breakfast I had ever had, served up to us by the lovely Sabrina and her beautiful Mother. Believe me breakfast at La Serra Sul Mare is a 5 course extravaganza, don't eat too much the night before, you wont fit it all in....
Review 26:No internet. Price was quite high, even considering comodity and location
Review 27:Excelent breakfast, and a great view. The available transport services were a plus
Review 28:No wifi
Review 29:Very nice owners and staff (welcomed with prosecco and cake), beautiful and comfortable room, great views, amazing breakfast. Parking right outside hotel.
Review 30:No wifi , but this wasn't really a problem for us
Review 31:Location, view was stunning. It was good to be away from the busy local centre , but still having easy access with the shuttle bus, very peaceful and relaxing
Review 32:We could not eat all the breakfast because they gave youso much ! It was delicious
Review 33:The view was incredible. On top of a hill but free taxi into town and back. Very easy to get around. Great hospitality
Review 34:It was farther than hoped for, from town - BUT the free shuttle made it work out just fine. (unfortunately, we didn't know about the shuttle in advance, and a taxi driver charged us 10 euros to take us there). It was inconvenient not to have WIFI available, on site....(but I was also glad to take a break, frankly....)
Review 35:Incredible view, wonderful breakfast, very welcoming.
Review 36:Little bit out of town but shuttle times available.
Review 37:The personalized service, wonderful homemade breakfast and air conditioning. The family owned hotel experience was wonderful.
Review 38:Nothing - not one fault could we find - absolutely perfect in every way
Review 39:Everything - the room, the view, the amazing breakfasts all beautifully home cooked and presented - although out of town a little - the view from the cliff top was amazing and the free regular taxi shuttle was a great service right up until 10 00 pm
Review 40:we spent 3 night at the hotel and had the best time. we had a patio innfront of our room and the view was amazing! breakfast was great, every morning freshly cooked! the hotel overs free taxi service to the town and back, but it's also an easy walk down the hill! great staff, very charming and helpfull! happy to stay here again!
Review 41:Nothing! Everything was perfect!!
Review 42:Everything.. Free parking and shuttle service to and from Monterosso..Exquisite Breakfasts, Luxurious Rooms, Out of this world view from thebed!! We were met with Champaigne and small snack . The friendlieststaff on our Italy vacation.. The owner has a wonderful business model. They are serious about making your stay one that wont ever be forgottenand they succeeded with us. I can't say enough about how wonderfulour time at La Serra Sul Mare. This is a must stay.. We have to go backone day and stay longer. :)
Review 43:No internet- at this price should have free internet
Review 44:The view, clean room, nice touches ( Spumante upon arrival and appetizer), English TV channels shuttle to town. Francesca was very helpful!!! Breakfast incredible!! So much kept us going all day!
Review 45:Nothing bad.
Review 46:Great location, beautiful scenery, 10 minute walk downhill if you want, free taxi service from town so convenient. Breakfasts a feast, ladies who own and work there are so wonderful. A fabulous stay for the week.
Review 47:Great views, wonderful breakfast, great people. Francesca was a well of knowledge about her lovely home town Monterossa, Complimenary taxi rides made it very easy to get to town which is only a few minutes but all uphill on way back.
Review 48:The only complaint was that with the incredible hillside view, resulted in a decent hike down into town. It was offset by the free taxi service provided almost every hour. The apartment was a little pricey for the area, but it seemed to provide the appropriate value for the money compared to other places.
Review 49:The location is up on the hillside so it has an amazing view that is probably the best in town. Also, the staff are very friendly, and the breakfast was amazing. The quality and quantity of the breakfast was incredible. The location was also a good point to jump onto the trail to Vernazza.
Review 50:Price is too high. And the breakfast, room condition and service do not match the price. Do not let us the leave the luggage after we check out. And during the breakfast time, they begin to remind us to check out...
Review 51:the lady who received us when we arrived help us to carry the heavy luggage. Thanks a lot.
Review 52:Room was beautifully decorated, very comfortable bed, quiet location with a staggering view. Staff was attentive, friendly, and the breakfast they cooked and served was unbelievable!
Review 53:Some may not like the location as it's out of town but taxis provided in and out of Monterosso.
Review 54:Lovely location overlooking the coast Best breakfasts we have ever had (and we've had a few)!! Very comfortable rooms
Review 55:After trekking the walk from Monterossa to Manarola we came back to not a lot of hot water. Staff aware of the prolem but being a sunday and a public holiday Monday unable to get someone in.
Review 56:Fantastic location, lovely ladies running this B&B and the breakfasts on both days out of this world. Never knew we could eat so much wonderful tasting food.
Review 57:The accomodations were very nice. Beautiful views, extremely helpful staff, very comfortable beds and, oh, the breakfast on the patio each morning was out of this world. Its about 3 minutes outside the town, which makes it very accessible and yet feels like a world away. The provide free shuttle to town which runs very regularly so a car is not necessary.
Review 58:The breakfast was huge and plentiful, but it might have been better to ask what you would like instead of having so much and not being able to eat it.
Review 59:The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The room was as shown. The views were stunning.
Review 60:Awesome position, sea view, flowers; nice welcome with Prosecco and Focaccia and all the infos about things to do, transports, etc. Very high quality accomodation (nice room, spotless, nice furniture, sea view). Breakfast is amazing: it's a fresh home made brunch, served on the terrace facing the sea. Very impressive and romantic experience. The ladies who run the place are always smiling and nice and create a positive relaxed atmosphere. We will come back!
Review 61:This is the best place to stay in Monterosso. Besides being clean and comfortable and romantic and quiet, the family and others who run it are so lovely and helpful. It is a bit out of the town which I think is a good thing to get away from all the busyness and the view is definitely worth it. The breakfast is amazing with all homemade savoury and sweet dishes. Look no further...
Review 62:Everything. Hospitality and friendliness of staff was fantastic. Be prepared to experience the true italian breakfast with six different dishes. Staff went to so much trouble for hotel guests.
Review 63:We loved everything...but prepare to walk or use your car, until the center of Monterosso, as the property is on a hill. The great view comes with a "price"... :)
Review 64:The view from all over the property The terrace with sea view The breakfast (delicious, great...prepare to get fat :)) The room (we stayed in "Lavander" room) ....the cat of the owner :)
Review 65:The walk into town is very vigorous for an older couple. The walk home is a steep climb uphill. The bus was infrequent so it made sense to take a taxi home. That cost about 8 euros. If you don't mind the walk into town then this is a peaceful place to stay away from the crowds of people.
Review 66:The room was very large with a large bathroom with double sinks. Parking is available which is unusual for a small town.
Review 67:Our stay at La Serra Sul Mare, was nothing short of perfect. Francesca welcomed us as old friends and helped carry our heavy luggage to our gorgeous room with ocean views to the right and vineyards to the left. Sabrina and her grandmother served us a delicious breakfast feast the next morning on the sun drenched terrace. (Highlight was the Parmesan basket with sautéed artichokes). If you're travelling to Cinque Terre you must stay here!!
Review 68:Just perfect. Great room, your own patio with a beautiful view of the Ligurian Sea. And a great breakfast in the morning, Sabrina, Fanny and Francesca were just wonderful!
Review 69:None whatsoever!
Review 70:In spite of a distance to the town, Monterosso, we enjoyed staying at La Serra sul Mare. Francesca, Sabina (the owner) and her daughter were very welcoming. And Sabina's heart warming breakfast!! We travel from Japan to Monterosso in one stretch and how wonderful it was to find ourselves at the house with beautiful scenary next morning! Thank you so much for your hospitality!!
Review 71:No wi-fi
Review 72:The view was beautiful! It is away from the downtown, so you must call when you arrive. A shuttle is provided, and it was very easy to take. We had a beautiful room, nice bathroom, and we enjoyed a bottle of wine from the room. Also the breakfast was AMAZING! Loved our stay
Review 73:Cramped room, short bed. Specify the lower level "family room" when booking. It is much better than the upper level. BTW there ae only four rooms. Away from beaten path but still easy access to hiking.
Review 74:Breakfast, staff, quiet, clean. Hotel has shuttle to Monterosso which is great! Fantastic view.
Review 75:Not close to the main down-town area, but shuttle was provided to and from. The mattresses were hard.
Review 76:Absolutely loved staying at this B&B. Welcomed by name & with a drink/apps from the amazing staff. The view was breath-taking from our room and the room itself was incredible. Very spacious and great bathroom area. The breakfast served was delicious the next morning! Provided a shuttle service to and from the main area of town, which was perfect! Will stay here again!
Review 77:No WiFi ! (Don´t know if it´s good or bad?)
Review 78:Breakfast was excellent. Great view over the ocean when sitting on the veranda. Free taxi service to the city centre on several occasion throughout the day. Close to hiking trails.Very good staff and service!
Review 79:Not a single thing.
Review 80:Loved this place from the location to the hospitality to the royaltreatment each morning. Staying at this little place was probably one ofthe best decisions we made during our trip. Cinque Terre was the laststop in our 2 week long honeymoon and we were looking for a place wherewe could just relax and wind down. This was it! We were pleasantlysurprised when on our way to Cinque Terre we actually received a callfrom the hotel letting us know a taxi would be waiting for us upon ourarrival at the train station (if you have been traveling long, you'll know what a blessing this is)..sure enough the cab was there. When we reached Francesca actually carried my bag up to my room herself.I was blown over. And then room itself was beautiful in its rustic charmand old world feel. Very clean and comfortable. We even had our own bigbalcony overlooking the sea. Come morning..time for breakfast...and ohmy GOD!...it was a full five course breakfast prepared by the owner andher mother and served at our table! Every day was a different varietyand it was always delicious! The owner herself was extremely sweet andhelpful. There was a free shuttle that ran from the hotel to the towncenter at certain times, and if you miss it you could always catch thebus for just 2.5 euros. I could go on and on about this place butplease...if you're staying in monterosso..stay here. You'll notregret it.
Review 81:Having to leave !
Review 82:We could not have had more helpful and friendly people taking care of us. Loved the shabby chic décor of the rooms. The wonderful breakfast was an experience in itself, and of course the views were breathtaking. A most impressive holiday accommodation. Thankyou for everything you did for us.
Review 83:Impossible to fault in any way!
Review 84:Fabulous view from terrace.Unbelievable breakfasts, the courses just kept coming. We stayed four nights and never got the same thing twice. Large clean room, try to book the ground floor rooms for best experience.
Review 85:The facility had 4 separate style of rooms. We stayed on the top level and had a wonderful view from the private balcony. There was also a private courtyard. The room was clean and comfortable and had air conditioning. Bathroom came with hairdryer etc. The breakfast was unbelievable - Fanny just kept feeding us her wonderful homemade food - yum! We were also close to the walking path to Vernazza which only takes about 1.5 hours. There was a very convenient shuttle available to take us to town. La Serra Sul Mare was perfect for us.
Review 86:Wonderful little inn. Warm, friendly and helpful staff. Incredible full breakfast each morning and a stunning view of the ocean from the terrace of out room. My wife and I would recommend this inn to all of our friends. Would love to return some day.
Review 87:No complaints whatsoever.
Review 88:Fanny is a fabulous cook with an amazing breakfast repertoire that changed daily. I appreciated the attention to detail found in our well appointed and tastefully decorated room. The views were awesome and it was nice to be a few minutes walk (there is also a free shuttle but I had to work off the breakfast!) away from the fray in town when the cruise ship folks came in at lunchtime. The owner and staff go out of their way to make you feel at home, like one of the family. Fellow travelers from all over the world that we met there all felt the same. I will definitely return and recommend it to all my family and friends. Thanks again Fanny, Serena, and Francesca for a wonderful "vacation from my vacation!"
Review 89:Beautiful view and a quiet location overlooking the town and the sea. Very friendly owner.Wonderful breakfast provided with your stay. Quick access down to the town of Monterosso by a local commuter bus that was free.
Review 90:No internet
Review 91:the hotel and host was wonderful. Beautiful view of the Mediterranean Sea, delicious home-made breakfast. definitely the best choice for holiday in Chinque Terra.
Review 92:there is nothing to dislike
Review 93:A view to die for, location, THE MOST AMAZING ITALIAN BREAKFEASTS!! Italian hospitality at its best! great shuttle service between main town and the hotel that you have the best of both worlds - enjoying the serenity or mixing it with the party people
Review 94:Nothing
Review 95:Location was perfect, to visit the Cinque Terre cities, Francesca was so helpful and greeted us with Proseco with prosciutto, cheese toast. Breakfast was so amazing everyday! I so wish to return & stay a week! Thank you to Sabrina's mother for her graciousness every morning.
Review 96:The room was lovely - real luxury with a friendly family touch. Breakfast was absolutely superb - a mountain of home-made food that set us up beautifully for our Cinque Terre hike. And the walk down into the village was only 10 mins down, 15 mins back, so was perfectly doable. Parking outside was a real bonus, and they were kind enough to let us leave our car there for 2 days while we hiked to Portovenere. Top quality all round.
Review 97:We are a couple and just stayed there on Sep 22- 24th. I am so glad to stay here. Firstly I felt it it's little bit far away from the beach town. However the more I stay the more I like it. The local style house on the mountain exactly match the style of Cinque Terre, get away from down town commercial things. Commute by scheduled free taxi very easy. The best part is landlord lady's awesome breakfast and romantic view when you have breakfast. The room is clean, they provide standard facilities and service, with the family luxury breakfast which is much better than anywhere else! Love here
Review 98:only the location. a bit far away from the station but it just takes 20 mins by walk. And they provide the shuttle bus and taxi.
Review 99:the breakfast was fantastic.
Review 100:There are some stairs to climb but the staff help with bags.
Review 101:Fantastic location, great views, a free taxi service into town, and what a town. Freshly cooked gourmet breakfast. Romantic balcony to watch the stars come out.
Review 102:Everything! This place was pure magic. The ladies who run this B&B are warm, charming and very accommodating in any way you might need. The location is spectacular, up high away from the noise of the town but with easy access. From our bed we could look out over the Ligurian Sea. We sat on our front porch each afternoon and enjoyed the same amazing view with a glass of wine. Each day after the room was cleaned we would come back to find a little snack on our table: some pastries or maybe fresh fruit. The breakfasts are in a league of their own. They were probably the best meals we had in our entire trip to Italy. Multiple courses, all home cooked and all incredibly delicious. I will miss this place and the lovely ladies who run it. They go the extra mile to make this place uniquely special.
Review 103:Nothing.
Review 104:Everything!! This was our second time staying here and this time we stayed even longer. The owners hospitality, generousity and warm welcome are not what u find in any other place. Simple perfection. Thank you once again!
Review 105:The breakfast was supurb and a great location to join the walk to Vanazza. The staff are really frinedly and will help with advice and transport. We would highly recommend this little place for any traveller to cinque terra.
Review 106:Bees and mosquitos - hard to avoid them, but they are there, so bring insect repellant. It can be windy in the evenings since you're on a hill on the coast.
Review 107:Breakfast was amazing, the view is incredible. It was nice that they had a complimentary shuttle that could take us to/from town.
Review 108:Maybe it was because of the time of year (August) but it was really full, and if you didn't reserve a table in the restaurants or you risked waiting for a long time. Avoid the ones on the main raid as they are quite expensive compared to those on other streets.
Review 109:The view from the room was amazing. It was just outside Monterosso so the place was nice and quiet. Breakfast was intriguing as you didn't know what was going to be served but it was all super tasty. Yes it's situated a way up the steepish hill but the free taxi was good, and easy to spot. Easy connections on trains/boats to the rest of the Cinque Terre.
Review 110:The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Upon arrival, we were given all the information we needed about the train and ferry schedules as well as the hiking trails (including maps). There is a courtesy shuttle to the train station in Monterosso for check-in and check-out as well as at several designated times throughout the day, which is a nice touch given that the property is about a 15 minutes walk from town. The multi-course breakfast exceeded all expectations and other home-made treats were left in the room each afternoon. Each room has its own terrace with expansive views of the ocean.
Review 111:Our room was a little dark and the sitting area was at the back which was a shame. Two rooms did have front facing patios and these would be fabulous!
Review 112:Lovely staff and the MOST amazing breakfast. Great views and easy to walk down to town ( although the free taxi back was much appreciated!)
Review 113:The room has not so much light , no windows just the doors from the terrace; the air hardly entered; no window in the bathroom or nearby.
Review 114:I liked the location, the great view, the terrace, the furniture, the size of the room, the quietness, the fact that there are only 4 rooms so feel like almost alone, the owners (mother and daughter) very very polite and helpful, the breakfast magnificent it felt like we were somewhere in the countryside everything very fresh and tasty and a lot . Best cafe latte!
Review 115:Nothing at all
Review 116:The staff was extremely informative and welcoming upon our arrival. We were a tasty treat (melon with prociutto and cheese) and prosecco. The view from the room was breathtaking and the sea breeze into the room was enough to not even need the air conditioning (but we did use it at night since my husband prefers to sleep in the cold!). It is a bit of a walk into town up/down a pretty steep hill, but their free shuttle service was great for tired legs.
Review 117:No ice; stray cat that was hanging around the property.
Review 118:Beautiful view of hillside vineyard and Mediterranean Sea from large wrap-around porch; wonderful multi-course daily breakfast served outside on porch; comfortable and clean room w/AC; location was peaceful and a short ride to Monterosso (no-fee taxi was on a regular pick-up/drop-off schedule, otherwise only about a 10 minute downhill walk to town); very friendly and courteous owner/staff (not exceptionally fluid in English but this caused no problems for us); easy access to hiking path to Vernazza; property has only four units and enjoyed meeting fellow travelers.
Review 119:difficult to find (located up hill about 3km above town); check-in time from 2-7pm
Review 120:staff wonderful and helpful (offered free taxi service, directions, tips); 5 course home made breakfast incredible, view of sea and hiking trail from each rooms' veranda awesome;
Review 121:1. Too many steps to get to the room with no help to carry luggage. 2. Our bed was a box spring not a mattress and uncomfortable and the pillows were worn. 3. The bathroom required full renovation with leaking taps and moldy tiles and opened bottles of shampoo and soap, which were not hygienic. 4. We were disappointed not to have wifi available. 5. The location was too far from the town; so we had to rely on the shuttle bus which was not always convenient.
Review 122:The view was lovely and we enjoyed the lovely breakfasts on the terrace which were delicious.
Review 123:That we could not stay longer.
Review 124:A big thanks to Sabrina for trying to help our friends to find a place where to stay at Monterosso in a very busy summer day. And also to Francesca for helping us on our arrival. They definitely made our stay at Monterosso al Mare an unforgettable experience.
Review 125:The breakfast was outstanding, never had anything like this. Different menu every morning (4 mornings). Wonderful room, beautifully designed and nice terrace, very private, room no 3.
Review 126:The staff were very friendly and helpful with information about the region. Home cooked breakfasts were a real feast. The free taxi service to and from town was great. The views over the ocean and surrounds were fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay.
Review 127:No wifi, but the location and facilities were so good it hardly mattered.
Review 128:The location was fantastic, staff very friendly. The breakfast was endless, with very generous servings.
The Fine Print
