Reviews for Stella Della Marina

Review 1:This was a great hotel, very comfortable and a nice surprise on location and should be rated higher than it is. The owner was a pleasure to deal with. View from the breakfast room was great and so was the food.

Review 2:Our stay Monterroso was greatly enhanced by our stay Stella Della Marina. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and a great cook. The breakfasts were wonderful. The location was ideal, close to everything. I highly recommended the Stella Della Marina.

Review 3:Gabriele is wonderful. A joyful guide and hospitable host. And the location for a visit to cinque terre is perfect. The most active town of the 5 and therefore the best location to explore the area.

Review 4:Gabriel was very helpful providing recommendations for restaurants and some of the other towns. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the town and the sea was beautiful.

Review 5:The owner was extremely accomadating! He helped with our luggage, shared great information about the area, and the food and service were exceptional! The location was very assessable to the town, train, beach, etc.

Review 6:Nothing

Review 7:My stay at Stella was extraordinary! The manager was so friendly, always smiling and even offered to carry our luggage up two flights of stairs! As soon as we checked in, the manager gave us an overview of Cinque Terre and how to get to each town. Breakfast was on the balcony (fabulous view) and was very delicious. The hotel is located about 10 minutes from the train station (walking). If I ever visit Monterosso again, I am most definitely staying here!

Review 8:Great location, Gabrielle the owner is great to deal with, he's very helpful and will do anything for you really lovely rooms, right in the old town centre, loved everything and would highly recommend, a lot of stairs but good excercise

Review 9:I loved everything.

Review 10:The owner, Gabrielle, was wonderful -- kind and helpful. The place had everything I needed: a good bed, cleanliness, wifi, a safe, a refrigerator, fantastic breakfasts, and a great proprietor.

Review 11:Great manager- He could not have been any nicer!!! Stayed on the 4th floor with view of the ocean- wonderful!! Great breakfast over looking the harbor!!

Review 12:No complaints about it at all.

Review 13:The owner was so nice and helpful. The hotel is conveniently located and it is SUPER nice and clean, far surpassed our expectations. There is no elevator but he helped us with our luggage. Everything about the stay was pleasant and we HIGHLY recommend to anyone visiting Cinque Terre. 5 Stars for charm, convenience, and helpfulness.

Review 14:A nice view to the sea from the terrace. The room is double-deck, very large and clean. Nice breakfast. Ten minutes walk to the main beach and the station.

Review 15:prices in the whole region are a bit high, but the room is complete with airco and all you can need. So, in other cities there is more luxury offered for this price, but in monterosso and the other villages you have to pay more. At least in this hotel you will have no complaints and enjoy a nice and very relaxed stay in a perfect spot!

Review 16:very nice location.Monterosso is the best place to stay for visiting the villages. The hotel is located very near to the sea, trainstation and the old town is also at night a pleasure to walk around and have a drink. We had a great time.

Review 17:Book your parking. Was very busy we parked nearly 5 kms away.

Review 18:Breakfast was in a delightful setting looking over Montorosso and very tasty. Owner was very helpful and friendly.

Review 19:The owner was fantastic! We arrived tired from travel, we dropped off our bags and he recommended a great restaurant for lunch. Wonderful hotel, great breakfast with fresh fruit and cappuccino. Stay here!

Review 20:-Continental breakfast was fine but basic. Good coffee - A/C could have been a slight touch more powerful (but we were there during a very hot period)

Review 21:-Large room -Comfortable bed -Very clean -Cool roof deck -Perfect location

Review 22:Climbing the winding stairs wasn't a lot of fun in the room, but didn't detract from the experience

Review 23:Great staff (owner), great location, room was immaculate

Review 24:The only downside was the stairs, but hey you even got used to them and we were over 60.

Review 25:Our host Gabriel was excellent. He could not have been more helpful, to supplying us with beach towels, directions or booking a restaurant for us. I loved the proximity to the water, the ambience of being in the old town and the breakfast balcony with that gorgeous view. Our room was spacious comfortable and quiet. Great for a holiday. Also close to the start of first part of the walk for the Cinque Terre.

Review 26:Gabriel the owner is so wonderful and attentive - good recommendations for restaurants and helpful tips for the town / hiking. The location is perfect - right next to everything and close to the water, but on a quiet little side street. Breakfast was the best time of day in the hotel, served on the roof terrace with a wonderful view of the town and the sea. Would definitely stay here again! We had a little terrace with our room, looking over the street which was nice for a glass of wine, people watching, and reading in the evenings.

Review 27:My sister and. I stayed for 2 nights and the location and care that we received made our trip immensely enjoyable. The room had all the amenities that we needed including wifi that worked. The updated room and bathroom was comfortable and cleaned daily and the room had excellent air-conditioning. We had a room with two single beds. The breakfast terrace outdoors was a great quiet place to enjoy the breakfast and view. I highly recommend Stella della Marina and I will definitely stay here again the next time we are in. Monterroso.

Review 28:Gabrielle was the best host/Manager I've ever experienced. He was extremely helpful and went out of his way to make sure the guests were happy!

Review 29:The bed was a little hard.

Review 30:The owner is wonderful, so kind and helpful. He was always around and was very welcoming. Also the breakfast was delicious and the view was jaw dropping, it was worth it just for the view from the breakfast patio. The building was also very clean, cool and charming.

Review 31:Absolutely nothing.

Review 32:I fell in love with my room as soon as I walked in. Pretty, spotlessly clean, great bathroom and awesome host who helped me with any travel questions. I'll be back!

Review 33:Room size too small for our group of 3 & height of room in the bedroom- hit your head! Air-conditioning not working properly So many stairs and no lift

Review 34:Very helpful manager Location in old town of Monterosso, close to restaurants and shops and the water

Review 35:Great location with wonderful view of the ocean. Very nice breakfast on outdoor patio. Free beach towels provided. Owner, Gabriel (like the angel) was super helpful, carried bags up several flights of stair, gave good restaurant recommendations and was super polite, personable and helpful!

Review 36:The staff was really friendly! There were no elevators and we had luggages... he carried our luggages for us. He gave us useful tips in getting around as well as maps and train schedules. The room was also really pretty with mint coloured walls! Breakfast, bathroom, wifi, bed, air conditioning... were all good.

Review 37:i could not get the excellent to turn blue on many of the items. everything was excellent or better. the room, location, helpfulness of the owner and especially the price was amazing. highly highlly recommended

Review 38:Gabriele is amazing. So nice and accomdating. Nice room. Has AC for those hot summer days, nice bathroom, comfy bed. I will definitely stay here again.

Review 39:Norhing we didn't like!

Review 40:Gabrielle was amazing, he is so friendly and helpful with everything from beach towels to making dinner reservations. Our room was great with an ocean view and nice modern bathroom.

Review 41:Stairs but got used to them quick enough.

Review 42:The host was very informative about what to do and the best places to eat and shop. He helped us carry up our bags (84 steps). The room was equipped with an air conditioner but there was a nice breeze at night that cooled the room down without the need for AC. A brilliant location in the centre of town.

Review 43:Our Room was a little dark and the bathroom was very small.

Review 44:The staff was great. They gave us a full debrief of what to do and how to get everywhere in Cinque Terre. They gave us maps, train schedules and restaurant recommendations that made our stay easy and enjoyable.

Review 45:Gabriel gave us a wonderful welcome and lots of information on the area including train and boat timetables. The room was wonderful with every detail carefully thought out. Breakfast was first rate with a wonderful choice. This hotel is a credit to Gabriel.

Review 46:Nothing - this place was perfect!

Review 47:Very clean and comfortable room Excellent location Outstanding service The owner goes above and beyond to make your stay extremely comfortable and convenient. We stayed at a lot of places in several countries on this trip and this place was one of our absolute favorites - mostly because of how incredibly kind and generous the owner is. We also met a lady from New Zealand on a train a few days later who had also stayed there and had nothing but great things to say about him and how wonderful he made her stay there. Service like that is rare - and is truly appreciated. Without a doubt I would stay there again - I hope to someday. Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to visit Cinque Terre!

Review 48:There is no lift but it wasn't a problem for us at all as Gabriel carried our heavy bags up the stairs for us. Only one small negative... A tiny shower!

Review 49:Gabriel couldn't be more welcoming or helpful! The rooftop terrace is a gorgeous place to have breakfast or just relax. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. Views over Monterosso were fabulous.

Review 50:There are stairs as in all of the hotels in town but the owner, Gabriele, will help with your luggage.

Review 51:This is a super hotel with an outstanding owner. The room was excellent (room 10), breakfast a delight on the terrace looking over the ocean and the price very reasonable. Will stay here again on our next trip.

Review 52:Owner was EXCELLENT. Helped in every way possible. Even handled the breakfast himself! Interesting 2 story room we stayed in with bed and tv upstairs. Breakfast and deck view were very good! I highly recommend this hotel.

Review 53:The staff was incredibly friendly, great recommendations for food, and sites to see to make the best of our time in Cinque Terre. The rooftop bar / breakfast area was beautiful, a great place to relax after a nice hike or swim.

Review 54:Beautiful, clean and comfortable room with a small balcony overlooking the main street. Perfect location, close to the train and to the main street, not hard to get to with luggage. And finally, a super friendly and helpful owner who'd do everything to make you feel at home.

Review 55:Everything was great! We only got to stay for one night, but the owner was incredibly friendly and gave up lots of great information about Monterosso and the Cinque Terre. Breakfast was amazing! I only wish we could have stayed longer!

Review 56:Struggling to find anything I didn't like; the shower was smallish, but clean, modern and adequate.

Review 57:We stayed in room 10 up 5 flights of stairs but with a beautiful view. Room was comfortable, modern and very clean. Breakfast on the terrace (level 4) was lovely. Gabriele runs this place with love and care and really knows how to look after his guests, he was always friendly and so, so helpful. Would stay here again.

Review 58:None to add.

Review 59:I spent two full days here alone to celebrate my 47th birthday. The minute I walked in the door, Gabrielle made me feel at home and very welcomed. His service was so inviting. He is a one may show. I do not know how he does it all and with a smile. The architecture of this historic building was just beautiful. My room was clean. I had a mini bar with wine, sodas, and beer. I had wifi, and TV, etc. The shower pressure was great after a long day of hiking. I would tell my friends and family to come here if they are ever looking into visiting Monterosso.

Review 60:Wi fi would time out and you would have to re sign in if you did not use it for about 15 minutes. A minor complaint really as the wi fi was a good speed

Review 61:The room we had was spacious and recently renovated so everything was new and very clean. Gabrielle the manager (and maybe the owner) was a tireless worker and was always good if you needed some advice, i.e. dining and activity recommendations. Breakfast on the terrace was excellent and Gabrielle makes a good capuccino.

Review 62:There are several flights of stairs and if one is handicapped climbing the stairs could be a challenge.

Review 63:This is a great hotel from which to enjoy the cinque terra. It is about a fifteen minute walk from the station but well worth the trip. The view from rooms ten and eleven cannot be beat, although it is a bit of a climb. Gabriel is the best host one could ask for and the breakfast on the terrace is wonderful.

Review 64:I did have difficulty finding the B&B and took the path to the left instead of the right. Coming out of the tunnel and heading to the church, just take the narrow walk to the right and in 20 steps you are at the B&B!

Review 65:I loved the great breakfast and beautiful view in the morning with the church bells ringing! Great way to start the day!

Review 66:There was no aspect that we would complain about or write a negative comment.

Review 67:Stella Della Marina is a lovely small hotel in a very quiet, central location. Gabriele treated us like old friends and assisted us with valuable information and advice. Room was the best we have stayed in over weeks of travelling. Would not stay anywhere else if we return to the Cinque Terre. Thanks Gabriele for a great experience and good memories. The Scotts

Review 68:We have no complaints

Review 69:Gabriele was an amazing host and we really enjoyed his friendliness and hospitality. We would pick this place again when we come back. I highly recommend this place to anyone.

Review 70:I didn't like leaving!!

Review 71:Gabriel - what a gem! Does the man never sleep?! He is knowledgable about Cinque Terre and Italy in general and was able to give advice on how to approach different days, which was exceptionally helpful.

Review 72:You need to walk up a few flights of stairs to get to your room.

Review 73:Gabriele was really helpful, carrying our bags and providing excellent recommendations on places to go, see, and eat. The location in old Monterosso is surrounded by fantastic restaurants, shops, and near the trail to Vernazza. The room was very recently updated and comfortable.

Review 74:Nothing!

Review 75:We had the room with the sea view. Just absolutely breathe taking. Breakfast was wonderful and the setting is totally awesome. The owner Gabrielle is one of the most hard working proprietor I know. He is most helpful with restaurant recommendation, what to see and even help with luggage.

Review 76:I had a bit of trouble with my cell phone connection.

Review 77:The location of Stella Della Marina couldnt have been better. It was just short block off of the main street, but that made it quieter. We woke to the sounds of pigeons cooing & a church bell. Room was on 4th floor which gave it a fabulous view. King size bed and high quality (scented) linens & towels were a nice extra. Gaberelle (owner) is a former chef, so breakfast was a treat, served on the rooftop. He was very helpful in suggestions. Only 11 rooms so it is intimate.

Review 78:Loft area for bed isn't suited for anyone super tall or who has mobility issues (need to climb a tiny spiral staircase to get to the bed). Worked great for me, though.

Review 79:Gracious welcome, nice breakfast on the rooftop terrace and convenient location in Monterosso just a few minutes walk from the train station. Easy to access train or trail to viait Vernazza and other Cinque Terre villages.

Review 80:Owner's personalized attention to his guests seemingly 24/7 from his rooftop breakfast overlooking the sea to his cheerful bidding goodnight. You can always count on his support and helpful advice!

Review 81:We were in the top room and the view was beautiful but there were 84 stairs to walk up to get there! We didn't mind but some people would. Had to reconect the wi-fi every time we left the room.

Review 82:Nice view Wonderful breakfast with view, Gabrielle was terrific Wonderful location. Room was beautiful It was quiet.

Review 83:This is not the four seasons, if your expectations are in line with the accommodations and price paid you will be more than satisfied.

Review 84:Simply put, Gabriele makes this hotel more than special. He is your humble host with a wealth of knowledge and expertise to guide your visit. The hotel itself is just as described, very nice, clean and updated. We will be back!!

Review 85:The hotel is a bit expensive.

Review 86:The owner is very friendly despite the stairs he has to clamber up and down. The terrace where breakfast is served is wonderful and Monterosso is a great little place.

Review 87:Perhaps the stairs if you were in the top level however Gabrielle was happy to carry the luggage up and down

Review 88:Our host Gabrielle was fabulous. Nothing was too much trouble. He was wonderful!

Review 89:I did not like the sound proof of the room as I can overheard easily the next room.

Review 90:I like the cleanliness of the room and the way the staff treat it guests. In all I am very satisfied.

Review 91:Similar to the entire region the mobility is not the best. There is no lift so if you travel with small children's or a lot of baggage you may struggle. Not the easiest place to find.

Review 92:Location; Staff was very helpful; Good value for money; Decent breakfast with sea view

Review 93:Cannot think of anything.

Review 94:Gabriel is a wonderful host and was careful to make us feel at home. Lovely rooftop breakfast terrace. The hotel is close to everything in the old part of Monterosso.

Review 95:Nothing bad at all. You can't drive up to many hotels in the area, so be prepared to park a few blocks away and walk if you have a car. The hotel is up a few levels without an elevator, but Gabriel will help you with your luggage.

Review 96:Gabriel the owner is on the job all day and night to make sure our stay was comfortable. Great location in a recently renovated facility. Nice breakfast on the roof deck.

Review 97:the fact that we stayed only two nights! We needed more time!

Review 98:We stayed in cinque terre for only two nights and wished we could have stayed longer! Our stay at the Stella Della marina was incredible, with a clean and comfortable room, delicious breakfast and warm hospitality from our innkeeper. We hope to be back one day!

Review 99:Stella Della was perfect for us. We were on a high floor, with a view of the town and sea. The breakfast area on the roof has a wonderful view and atmosphere. Gabrielle, the proprietor, is VERY helpful, works nonstop, and had excellent recommendations for restaurants.

Review 100:The safe needs to be mounted to something in the room, would be nice to have an elevator one day.

Review 101:The owner, Gabriel is wonderful and extremely helpful and charming man,. The rooftop breakfast and lounge area is lovely with a beautiful view!! Very nice breakfast and coffee was supreme!

Review 102:While quaint, the bed was upstairs on the mezzanine floor - accessed by a windy staircase. If you need to go to the bathroom during the night, take a torch or turn the light on! I htink I would have preferred all to be in the same room - without any steps.

Review 103:The hotel is easily accessible in lovely Monterossa and close to restaurants etc - Monterossa is probably the most user-friendly of the 5 terre villages as not as much climbing uphill involved. Gabrielle, the hotel manager, was charming and extremely helpful. The breakfasts were delicious and served on an outside terrace overlooking the historic village and the sparkling sea.

Review 104:This place was great good location rooms were good sized staff Was very helpful Breakfast was great the best cappuccino ever Gabrielle made our visit fantastic

Review 105:I have to give special applause to the reception/ caretaker of the property during the two day stay there. He is so attentive and efficient and organized that I ended up complaining about all other receptions during our ensuing trip in Italy. He does checkin and an introduction of all the interest spots in the village up one arrival with great warmth, arranges free shuttle for train pickup and drop off, Carrys our luggage and caters for breakfast, and stays for reception Tim late night! Honestly even as a hardworking Chinese I don't know how he manages it because I haven't seen another employee at the property during my stay. If he is not the owner he really deserves a raise! Also the single room is a spacious loft with a double bed on the 2nd floor. The breakfast Terrence is perfectly located for sunbath with a view of the bell tower and ocean in the background. The hotel is close is the center of old town and short walk to boat ride. Great value for money.

Review 106:The host, Gabriele, was wonderful. He made us feel like we were guests in his own home. We had a wonderful stay, the hotel was charming, the staff was friendly, the views were beautiful from the breakfast veranda, the location was great.

Review 107:Very helpful and obliging host, carried my bag up the several flights of stairs! Hotel is in the old town, near the waterfront with lots of restaurants.

Review 108:Could only think of the few flights of stairs to climb because of our heavy luggage.

Review 109:Great location in excellent town as the base to explore Cinque Tere. Antonio, our host, was very friendly and helpful. Place was clean and everything are just working well. Breakfast view ware fantastic. Super value. Strongly recommend this place.

Review 110:leaving

Review 111:i loved the location the building and the spectacular view from the breakfast roof. The greeting on arrival by the owner operator and the helpfulness of the owner Gabriel

Review 112:There was no kettle with tea/coffee in the room and I didn't realise there was a lovely sunbathing area until I went for breakfast so I missed out on using it

Review 113:enjoyed my room and the building and the breakfast was excellent

Review 114:A very nice family hotel with good location in the old Town. Especially the breakfast at the roof terrace with a wonderful view as excellent! Very hospitable host who helped out with anything you needed. I would love to come back.

Review 115:If you need an elevator, this is not the hotel for you. There are 2flights of stairs to go up before entry into auberge . We were on the 4th floor. Shower was a bit small but so clean.

Review 116:Location.. So close to piazza center of town but away from noise. Alsoquite close to beach, train, hiking path between cinque terre villages.Breakfast was first rate.. Fresh croissants, fruit which Gabriel cuthimself each day egg, juice, etc. eat in top of building overlooking thesea and church steeple.Gabriel was gracious, accommodating,a wonderful reference for any question, nothing was too much trouble. He really connected with guests.

Review 117:Can't think of anything....

Review 118:Very easy to find from the train station with no hills to climb, as in other nearby towns. Gabriella's greeting was very warm and friendly. Out of the five different hotels in Italy, I had my best sleeps here! Pillows very comfy!! Breakfast included fresh fruit salad which was a treat taken on the wonderful roof top terrace with view of town and coast. Wifi very strong in room, another bonus! All in all a great 3 night stay and the town itself was a delight. Don't let the stairs scare you, the first two flights are up a wonderful wide marble staircase with open arches, and G. takes your cases up and down anyway! Plus you will be doing lots of stairs/steps if you walk from one village to another!!

Review 119:Nothing at all. Highly recommended.

Review 120:Very friendly hotel despite cinque terre being so busy. Really personal service. We expected Monterosso to be not as nice as the other villages but far from it - it was quieter and really beautiful with a closeknit and welcoming community of people. Best beach as well!

Review 121:Such a beautiful little spot hidden in an alleyway in Monterosso. Gabriel was a fantastic host. The view from the terrace was serene. Very relaxing.

The Fine Print
