Reviews for Abashiri Ryuhyou no Oka Youth Hostel

Review 1:no possibility to prepare hot water for tea or coffee, no cutlery or dishes that could be used; it was rather cold; communicating in English was difficult; no information material about the place and the surroundings in English language available;

Review 2:the scenery; that we got a lift to the station; that it was very quiet;

Review 3:Location is a bit out of the way. You need a car or taxi to get there.

Review 4:This place feels like staying in someone's house! The couple that runs the place were very accommodating with things like check-in time, bathing time, etc. They are clearly pro hosts. The bath was clean enough and very comfortable. Breakfast is homemade by the master. The hostel is on a hill overlooking the Sea of Okhotsk, although it was hard to see from the room window.

Review 5:Maybe a bit pricey

Review 6:Got to stay in a tatami room, so that was fun. They also have wifi. The kind host offered to pick us up from the JR station, but silly me, I forgot to check my email for more than 2 days so we took a taxi instead.

Review 7:The location isn't the best but thanks to the owner this didn't affect our stay at all! Totally recommend!

Review 8:Great accommodation. Great owner! The hostel was good and the hospitality of the owner made it what it was! We had a great stay thanks again!

Review 9:the owner is a kind guy, you can ask him for pick up, its free, because the hostel is really far from the city. but maybe for the language, he only speak very few english words, he appears very serious and we asked him to restart wifi, but it took a long time to understand.

Review 10:free bicycle lending but he only have two bicycle. the second day its already lent when i want.

Review 11:Bath/shower room could be better

Review 12:Very helpful staff, good to have breakfast as an option

Review 13:Location far away from Abashiri. You need a car.

Review 14:Surrounded by beautiful fields.

Review 15:Since this was a youth hostel I expected kitchen facilities to be available.

Review 16:Landlord not speaking english said we had no booking --obviously we hadtwin rooms are actually 5 bunk beds rooms. Since she does not speakenglish go figure out. The website is misleading, twin rooms are 10 m2with 5 beds in it. Bathroom only opens for 1 hour in the morning (7-8!!)and we were provided a hand-towel Never were told of the free wifi

Review 17:Quiet-rustic laid back owner nice flowers good sea view from 1stfloor free parking and easy ride to town or seaside if you have a cargreat food options in town all located in one tiny street the Edo-prison museum and the superb free museum of the norther peoplemuseum, a must-do

Review 18:The host was incredibly friendly and accomodating by providingcomplimentary pick up and drop off service from the local trainstation. The lady at the jr Abashiri information center was mosthelpful to contact the hostel owner to arrange the transfers for me.With this in mind, I'd highly recommend the hostel as a place tostay during a stopover.
