Reviews for Hotel Federico II
Review 1:beds are very bad aprox 30 years old old bread served at breakfast poi / churches in village closed toilet doors in restaurant could'nt be locked no fish dishes in village
Review 2:airco large room spotless
Review 3:Too many keys to use to go in and out. A bit of a walk to get our complimentary breakfast. No coffee or tea facilities
Review 4:Great position. 2inute walk to the beach and restaurants
Review 5:Thought the parking may be an issue, but in the little square, metres away, no problem, just as they said.
Review 6:Tucked away in the centre of the village, great views, big room with fridge, good affordable restaurant, everything is just so right here.
Review 7:WiFi not everywhere in the building available. Getting an parking place in Piazza Lauria may get difficult.
Review 8:Wonderful building. Magnificent view from the balcony. Very good restaurant.
Review 9:We were on the first floor, but there was basically no wifi.
Review 10:The staff was very attentive. Breakfast was good, although it wouldn't hurt to have a greater variety of cold cuts and cheese.
Review 11:Breakfast was just cakes no toaster or much savory. Coffee was stewed. Which was the only thing that let this hotel down.
Review 12:Hotel was lovely. Breakfast was poor. Not much choice unless you like cakes. Need a car to get about as not much in the village. But very scenic big room very clean staff very helpful.
Review 13:Narrow road to the hotel. So never rent a too big car @Sicily! We had a Fiat 500 Large, that was ok.
Review 14:Special to be so close to the Etna in a typical Sicilianan mountain village. Huge room and bathroom, shared terrace @ roof. Good restaurant with Sicilian food @ the hotel, very helpful and kind staff @ the restaurant.
Review 15:The bed was a little hard
Review 16:The hotel and restaurant were lovely. Staying at this hotel in Castiglione dibSicilia was like going back in time to an enchanting old village the good and the staff at the restaurant were excellent
Review 17:The room's furniture slightly dated.
Review 18:The room was simple but clean and with a view over the Etna's eruption. From eolie islands we decided to cut through the inland in order to reach taormina and noto. Good views of the sicilian mountains surrounding the Etna. The restaurant is famous for being one of the best in the area and we'll deserved so!!
Review 19:Welcome, room, food
Review 20:Our room was above the kitchen and very noisy!
Review 21:Driving through narrow streets to get to and from the hotel.
Review 22:Attractive building, helpful staff and good restaurant.
Review 23:Excellent restaurant, friendly hotel
Review 24:Very nice place in small town. Very clean very nice and pleasant staff. Exellent food. This place for everyone who prefer quality.
Review 25:Location Restaurant Fridge in room
Review 26:Hard mattresses, bad wifi in the room. We could hear what was happening on the street (which was quite calm I have to say) due to a bad sound isolation. Parking the car close to the hotel was a bit tricky but possible. The breakfast could be improved.
Review 27:Excellent location in the heart of a typical sicilian village. Nice premises, pretty and clean. Simple but quite enjoyable food (very affordable) from the in house restaurant. Few rooms in the hotel, that make it an authentic address (specially if you go to awful Taormina, full of tourists). Would definitely go back there to enjoy the splendid view from the balcony in the room (the one on the main photo).
Review 28:Lovely modern room in a historic building. The village is very picturesque. Restaurant is excellent and very good value for money. Staff are very obliging and even prepared some dishes for us that were not on the menu. Would love to go back.
Review 29:My husband and I stayed for 4 days it was very relaxing and the food and service are the best we've seen in a long time. The whole family is very nice
Review 30:given the good quality of the hotel's restaurant, breakfast could be better, no wi-fi in the room
Review 31:great location, village atmosphere, purely authentic, clean, cozy rooms
Review 32:our room was located at the reception and above the restaurant. It was very loud. If you go to this hotel ask for a room upstairs. The city was kind of dead and we got a bid bored. But the travel to taormina or the beach was ok to do!
Review 33:A very nice small hotel in a small village in the mountains. The restaurant is the best thing of this place. Good kitchen for a great price and the Etna wines are super nice. The staff was wonderfull and always wanting to help with everything.
Review 34:As in most Sicilian hill towns difficult to find with narrow streets.
Review 35:Great town fantastic buildings but decaying . Excellent restaurant at hotel and great location for one night
Review 36:A lovely hotel in a really nice little hilltop village. The staff were very friendly and always available to help. Room was big, comfortable and had excellent views of the surrounding countryside. Food and local wine in the hotel were also good.
Review 37:Advice. Don't rely on satnav or you will end up in alleys as narrow as your car! The hotel is off Piazza Lauria so aim for that on foot if necessary!
Review 38:Castiglione di Sicilia is a characteristic medieval village unspoiled by tourism. It is quiet with few facilities but is an ideal place to relax and wander round. It is also close for visiting Etna and Taormina. We loved our stay at the Hotel Federico II. We booked the 'junior suite' which is large and comfortable with a balcony and view. The family who run the hotel are very friendly and welcoming. I had planned to visit other restaurants but the food was so good at the restaurant 'Sine Tempore' attached to the hotel that we ate there every evening.
Review 39:Not a problem for us but be aware that you have to take your luggage to the hotel from the nearby piazza and once in the hotel there are no lifts.
Review 40:Ask for a room with balcony. We had a lovely corner room with great views but our friends were not so lucky. Characterful little hotel with pleasant staff in a typically picturesque hilltop village. Do have dinner at the attached restaurant - Sine Tempore - some great food and I recommend the pork with orange sauce. Delicious!
Review 41:nothing
Review 42:The location is very interesting, the food and wine excellent, hotel is comfort and clean. Staff is very helpful . very quite place and relaxing. Sure we consider to revisit
Review 43:The matrasses were a bit stiff and be prepared to wake up to the sound of scooters in the small street next to the hotel.
Review 44:The hotel is located in a beautiful village built on top of a small hill. Make sure you have GPS to find the hotel in the maze of small streets, but by the time you know your way, the location is great.
Review 45:A very nice hotel in a little wonderful village. Friendly and helpfull staff at all time. Very good service and very good dinner. It's a must to drink the delicius Etna Wines. The hotel has an own shop with wine and regional pruducts. If we come again in this region we will stay there again. Norbert and Snjezana Best aus Neustadt an der Weinstrasse
Review 46:This hotel is in the centro of the ancient village, yet the inside is totally modern and comfortable. It's a lovely small village which is a nice change of pace from the hustle and bustle of many of the Sicilian coastal towns. The restaurant was also very good.
Review 47:no wifi in the room
Review 48:the village is very nice, and the location of the hotel is very good.
Review 49:Nothing!
