Reviews for Ruth Rimonim Hotel
Review 1:Because we checked in after Sabbath, room/s and beds were not properly prepared, had to re-make the bed and find the right duvet, TV remote not working, lift was being repaired next morning so had to walk down and up and down some floors.. Gruff day manager attempted to compensate only by offering checkout 1 hr later until 12.00, thereby offering less than nothing as hotel's written policy is that on late check in after Sabbaths and Holidays, next day check out is at 2pm. When pointed out, he promptly offered until 4pm - But we anyway had no interest in hanging around as wanted to tour the area. .. . We had especially returned after a nice visit some years back. Hotel is very well positioned and the only really upmarket hotel in town but needs a bit of updating and is not cheap. Don't stay after Sabbath or Holidays -they don't provide suitable staff to prepare rooms, perhaps it's ok at other times, Wrote to management and one week later got a reply showing little appreciation of the problems and again regrettably displaying some Israeli hoteliers limited relationship with the concept of 'service' and guest satisfaction. .
Review 2:Evening and night staff friendly and tried to be helpful, in contrast to next day manager.
Review 3:nothing
Review 4:Location is outstandning and property is very well rebuilt to keep the old building style and blend preferctly with old Zefat's surroundings
Review 5:This is a very nice location, looking out over the countryside of Israel from a high hill, and a pleasant, interesting, sprawling hotel. Kind receptionists. Would recommend it to anyone. The hotel the Prime Minister goes to, when in the area.
Review 6:Even I have asked to make up our third bed twice it was not done. It was taking even very late time, finally made it my ourselve. Room and inside hotel it could be cleaner.
Review 7:Great mountine view from the balcony. Friendly front staff and good location to explore the city.
Review 8:I wrote notes in the order through no body got back to me.I asked for one large bed and got two together. I did not ask and no mention of wi fi .I asked for full board in the reservation they did not know though there was no problem
Review 9:food excellent bed very comfortable pool excellent service very pleasant
Review 10:Staff was rude and unhelpful. Advanced request for twin beds, not arranged, despite advance confirmation. We had to be moved to another room after an extensive wait. Staff member laughed about our request to her manager. Pool closed one hour earlier for no apparent reason. Halls full of dirty laundry, dishes and a matress. These items were left in the hall all day.
Review 11:Not much.
Review 12:The breakfast although plentiful needed more fruit choices. Also the lettuce and vegetables by the middle of the week were very wilted and not very fresh.
Review 13:Liked the location and that it had a nice swimming pool.
Review 14:Our room was in a building which was separated from the main building which meant a lot if inconvenient shlepping between buildings with luggage. Some sort of connection to the main building would be a huge improvement. Free WiFi should also be available for the cost of the room which is high.
Review 15:Beautiful, clean room with nice view. Room was quiet and outfitted nicely. Breakfast buffet was nicely done.
Review 16:no food or beverages served in the lobby or the bar from 4 pm on friday through till sunday morning.famous bar and no access to it.kosher hotels all over israel offer food and drink in the public areas throughout shabbat.
Review 17:location and restful atmosphere. excellent tour of old city friday night.
Review 18:More information needed about town, maps etc. We were told there was no tourist information, but there is in fact an office in the town. Also the room-cleaning was not always complete.
Review 19:Good location, elegant building, excellent food.
Review 20:Internet was expensive. The staff was not helpful. The hostess in the restaurant was almost rude.
Review 21:Perfect location in Tsfat. Beautiful building that blended with the old city. Great breakfast.
Review 22:Internet basically non existent and we were there two nights and had two rooms. Very frustrating to be unable to even check email. Shower had bar half hanging off and mildew in tile cracks. Overly priced for quality of accommodation.
Review 23:Breakfast was good. Staff did their best. Good location.
Review 24:The staff was unfriendly and incompetent. The shower wasn't great The food was not very good.
Review 25:Lovely room. Wonderful location. Great parking in a cramped city.
Review 26:I was stunned to see the changes from my last stay in Jan 2014 to this visit in Nov 2014. We usually reserve the best rooms in the hotel... a mountain view deluxe. We checked in late so couldn't move from our first room where both the sliding door onto a large balcony and the front door intohotel room both had broken locks...felt rather unconfortable that night; also towels were clean but the bathroom in general was pretty dirty. We changed rooms to 3rd floor new wing. Room ok...but not as nice as 2nd floor. Again, I couldn't believe how dusty and dirty room was. Never in 40 years of staying here was the standard so low. Especially the quality of food. One of the highlights of this hotel is the dining room. Gone downhill dramatically. My husband and I food food rather inedible; it was mostly processed supermarket bought food and plastic breakfast food...absolutely no fresh fruit anywhere nor fresh brewed coffee. They were actually washing the floor during the breakfast to get ready for a luncheon function...Dinner the night before (costing $40 pp) was pretty bad and not anything like it ever was in the past. I just found out that the Ruth Rimonim has changed management three times since January...clearly they're a mess right now and hopefully will come back up to the standards expected of this hotel. Until then, for the same money, we will go to some of the B&B's in the old city. Stay away unless you want the experience of staying in a two star days inn.
Review 27:I've been staying at the Ruth Rimonim for 40 years. The location and view remain amazing and convenient to enjoying Safad.
Review 28:Dining room manager actually pushed an elderly infirm lady out of his way. The level of his and the waiters courtesy was low, they were not unpleasant but very often pushed ahead of guests. They also talked very loudly between themselves when clearing tables, which was disturbing. The evening meals were repetitive (many dishes reconstituted from the previous evening's meal) and very ordinary, lacking in taste. The breakfast was adequate in quantity but uninteresting. Often one had to ask for more clean dishes or serving cutlery. The bedrooms and some common areas were not cleaned properly. The toilet bowl was a bad design and didn't flush properly. The bedroom curtains were damaged, the system to use the room key to put the electricity on and off didn't work properly. The cleaning staff and odd job man were noisy in the corridors during the siesta, even when asked politely to be a bit quieter. The front desk had someone on duty who couldn't speak English when we were telephoned from abroad. When another attempt was made, someone who did speak English said that he/she didn't know how to connect an outside phone call to our room, so we did not receive the call. We were very disappointed in our visit to this hotel. Although it is supposed to be one of the best in the area, we felt we had inadvertently made a big mistake in staying there.
Review 29:Shocking service - unattractive or absent. Didn't care. Good on Shabbath day & Sun am was poor. Our rooms were old - broken curtains, fridge, no safe etc. No one was interested in our complaints though. I would choose not to stay there again & suggest others avoid it too!
Review 30:Location, facilities & the reduced rate we received that day - over internet
Review 31:1. Worst servce 2. Very confusing layout, many guests wandering around unable to find the lobby 3. No help offered with baggage 4. Third bed in triple room un-made. It took 5 phone calls and 3 hours to get that fixed. 6. Put on hold by front desk for more than 10 mintes. 7. Poor directions to city, icorrest drawing on map. 8. Mediocre buffet dinner and breakfast 9. Off hand apology for their poor service 10. No help in exiting their parking lot onto narrow street with blind corner 11. Old room telephones from another hotel with erong room number 12. Wifi signal too poor in room for use. 13. No free wifi 14. Insufficient number of towels provided for three people 15. Robe for third prrson never delivered Except for location, there is nothing to recommend this hotel!

Review 36:Amazing service very flexible Holy of the holiest
Review 37:That we didn't stay longer! :)
Review 38:Free Upgrade. Beautiful facilities and view. Wonderful, friendly staff.
Review 39:the downside was that we booked through booking.com and the room we got was without tab
Review 40:the hotel has very nice location and the view is great.
Review 41:Pillows are rubbery and very incomfortable Rooms looks much larger on pictures than what they are.
Review 42:Breakfast
Review 43:Size of room. No bslcony
Review 44:Atmosphee
Review 45:Shower wasn't great and you have to walk with your bags up and down stairs to get to your room
Review 46:Great breakfast and nice size rooms.
Review 47:Breakfast was disappointing Service so-so
Review 48:Nice room Wonderful views
Review 49:Overpriced, services in general.
Review 50:Great location, reasonable rooms
Review 51:No swimming pool available and I was told there was one
Review 52:Everything, but the absence of the pool (I choose that hotel beacuse it had one,,,
Review 53:Room was not as nice as other rooms we have stayed in, bed was not comfy at all. Hotel was kept up -- lobby and tea area were very messy.
Review 54:Location!
Review 55:Nothing , the food was terrible . The room terrible The service terrible and the food poor
Review 56:The location
Review 57:Great massage, beautiful spacious grounds. We would definitely stay here again!
Review 58:Charge for extra person in room and charge for WIFI
Review 59:Atmosphere
Review 60:No free wi-fi. Some of the staff struggled with English. Very difficult to find it. Google and the Nav System send you to a wrong address.
Review 61:The hotel is beautiful and the room we were given was very big and nice. Excellent breakfast.
Review 62:Aggressive reception staff-only the men Very unhelpfull -veru disorganized But this means nothing becos what will be done about it and what is the follow up
Review 63:Restaurant staff were very pleasant
Review 64:I was there a year ago and it seems that it is not being properly maintained. The dresser draws were broken. The shower had no pressure the bathroom door was broken. We had no chair in the room.
Review 65:Location
Review 66:See above
Review 67:Helpful manager. No swimming pool was quite ridiculous as incredibly warm but apparently waiting until the summer in June. This is an expensive hotel and I fear one is not receiving value for money Having said that I would stay there again to see whether matters have improved
Review 68:Breakfast eggs weren't great. Dinner wasn't served one night, maybe due to low season.
Review 69:Awesome location, delicious tea in the lobby, comfortable room, great service, affordable massages. Highly recommended!!
Review 70:It appears this hotel caters more to bus groups. There were no English maps of Tzefat available. Nor was the front desk staff particularly helpful about Tzefat.
Review 71:Ruth Rimonim occupies a good location in Tzefat. The room was spacious and the breakfast plentiful.
Review 72:Nearly everything else. We arrived five days after a heavy snow. Fivedays. Yet there was still snow all over the hotel (some hallways areoutside) and my mother had a lot of trouble not slipping. Not only that, but we paid for two rooms with beautiful balconies overlooking themountains. The balconies were covered in snow (about six inches). It wason the chairs and tables on the balconies, making them completelyunusable. Again, five days after the last snow. The rooms were dirty anduncomfortable, the staff was unbelievably rude and inconsiderate. All ofwhich could be overlooked if they would simply take care of theproperty. A shovel and fifteen minutes would've changed myexperience from a one to an eight. If we had stayed longer we would haveasked for a shovel and taken care of the problem ourselves (again, anissue which could be resolved in fifteen minutes. Lazy, lazy, useless, inconsiderate staff).
Review 73:Beautiful hotel with a great location. The food provided for breakfastwas also fantastic.
Review 74:The breakfast had a wide variety of good quality. Their staff are very friendly and went the extra mile for me and my wife on a number of occasions. Very close walking distance to the Mamilla mall and Kottel.
Review 75:you have to walk a lot. i paid for a room with a view and their was no view whats so ever just over grow trees. and the food was no good and very little. and the staff was root and not nice at all
Review 76:noting
Review 77:Bathroom was not well cleaned. Same dead bug on floor for two days. Horrible Wifi system with ridiculous codes.
Review 78:Nice location in Tzfat. Nice pool. Good breakfast.
Review 79:Very decedent place that would have been much better appreciated if staff warmer and food better. Restaurant with ugh smells. Views nice from room and the location is superb.
Review 80:Service at the hotel was not up speed; there is no free wifi.
Review 81:Beautifully situated, nice swimming pool. It was possible to change the date of the reservation at short notice
Review 82:Pool is closed at 16h! Something you only know when you arrive. This is a NOK. The place lags maintenance. Dirty windows, dirty mirrors, dirty floors in the restaurant. Your feet stick to the ground. A boring unhappy staff
Review 83:The site is fantastic.
Review 84:Quality of food was not good. Dinner buffet price is very high. Staff inrestaurant and bar not very nice. Bathroom was one of the smallestI've ever seen. Nothing was very clean. Not worth the room rate theyare charging.
Review 85:Parking right outside the hotel was a plus. Good location in the artistscolony. Front desk staff was pleasant and efficient.
Review 86:Breakfast was pretty good but not great, and the restaurant staff were not especially friendly with one exception.
Review 87:The location in historic Safed/Tzfat was what we wanted. The views were lovely, the room quiet, the receptionist exceptionally helpful.
Review 88:the walk between the reception and my hotel room. it wasn't fun in the pouring rain, especially carrying the bag down and up the stairs.
Review 89:Location, spectacular view from my balcony, my room, hotel staff, delicious breakfast, hotel facilities in general (very beautiful, lots of exposed brick, neat, clean, fantastic views from the restaurant and other areas), lots of places in the hotel vicinity to rest - benches, gardens, etc.
Review 90:we regretted having to ask for basic things
Review 91:Beautiful view interesting rooms setting. We ordered best rooms. Staff was becoming when asked to do things that were expected to be ok to begin with. They then did their best in a nice way
Review 92:The staff could have been more helpful in reception regarding findingthe room. Also we did not really understand the offers in the discountbook as it was all in Hebrew.
Review 93:We really liked the location
Review 94:Cold , we asked for extra blankets 3 times before they were brought.Receptionist very abrupt.
Review 95:Nice features in room, dressing gowns etc Good breakfast, free parking
Review 96:Location is hard to find find if you are a foreign tourist.
Review 97:Great resort style hotel. Zafed is hard to navigate unless you know the area. Helpful staff -- great breakfast buffet!
Review 98:Lack of attention to detail in the bedrooms. Room 307 was a bit shabby and not as clean as the room in the other part of the hotel that I haf last time.
Review 99:The great buffet breakfast was just amazing. Huge range of salads, fruit cereal. bread, egg dishes, fish, nuts, seeds, and lots more. A royal banquet to start the day! When members of staff smiled, it made them look very friendly and approachable.
Review 100:Bed is a little too short if you are tall; my sons's feet hung out of the bottom of the bed.
Review 101:Great location. Beautiful old stone buildings and surroundings. Great view. Friendly staff. Good breakfast.
Review 102:Not a fair amount of information about the city. There are many placesand facts of the city that they should have available to visitors andthey only had a pathetic photocopied illegible map.
Review 103:On a clear day there is no spot more breathtaking than in the diningroom or the rooms facing the mountains.
Review 104:The manager was not very friendly or hospitable. Fortunately, the frontdesk staff could handle most of the interaction with us.
Review 105:This was our second trip to Ruth Rimonim but this time we brought out17-year old daughter. The views (when it's not cloudy) are beautiful, the location is great for exploring the town, and we enjoyed the visitvery much.
Review 106:The biggest problem with the Hotel is that it is not friendly for people who have issues with walking or using stairs. There is no elevator and there are no rooms that are on a level that does not require stairs. Also, the dining facilities are down a flight of stairs into a lower courtyard.
Review 107:The hotel was quaintly charming. There are no other good hotel choices if you want to stay in Safed.
Review 108:The younger staff seemed completely demotivated, to anything you asked they frowned as if you disturbed their private agenda. The room was not cleaned properly, some dust and hair in the corners may have stayed there for weeks. Likewise for the food in the restaurant. On the day when we arrived, the swimming pool was ready to close for the season so we could only bathe once. One morning we planned to leave early for a trip to the Golan but the parking exit was obstructed by deliveries which the staff was reluctant to remove, so we lost half an hour until at last an old-timer member of the staff eventually opened another gate. Disastrous condition for a hotel that once upon a time must have been beautiful, but now is obviously mismanaged.
Review 109:Quite noisy on occasions. Swimming pool and jacuzzi/spa close early in the day.
Review 110:In the center of the city, walking distance to all attractions as well as the center of Safed. The hotel itself is in a pine forest and offers rooms in vintage style. Nothing close to luxury, but the place is perfect for a short trip to the Galilee or a visit to Safed. Beautiful dining room overlooking the mountains, perfect to see the sunset. Would recommend it to other visitors.
Review 111:Poorly managed hotel. Disappointing food, especially breakfast, which isunusual in Israel. The room description shown on Booking.com wasmisleading: no high-ceiling and the terrace should be described only asa balcony.
Review 112:Great potential if the management did a better job.
Review 113:The facilities are beautiful. The room was beautiful. The service was excellent ( the best we experienced in Israel). I have a milk allergy and asked if something was dairy at the free breakfast. The chef offered to make it for me without milk.
Review 114:The fact that the hotel does not have elevators makes it difficult with luggage. However, its location is ideal.
Review 115:Location and services were good to excellent. Pool was very big but closed too early(5PM).
Review 116:The best thing about this hotel was the Duty Manager named Shani who went out of her way to accomodate us in every way possible. Unfortunately the hotel is run down, rooms are not clean , very far from the 5 star rating that was posted. We were shown 4-5 different rooms before we found what we needed. We were travelling with our 23 year old son and had to take another room for him because the extra cots in the room were only suitable for very young children.I would not return to this hotel even though the location and setting was spectacular. Kudos to Shani for trying so hard to please.
Review 117:The staff was not at all helpful. There were flies everywhere. The hotel was very loud. The cleaning service knocked on our door early each morning. The last day they called and woke us up asking if we were coming to breakfast.
Review 118:The size of the room The location
Review 119:comfortable and very friendly atmosphere.
Review 120:An amazing style of hotel build over 400 years ago yet with all modern comforts and within easy reach of the old city.
Review 121:When we got there, they charged us more 50% more than we agreed to payon booking.com -- so this felt like a total scam, but since we didn'thave any other room in the city, we were forced to pay extra. Scam! Sobe careful to know that the final price is when booking with the hotelon this site and bring a print out of the final receipt when you checkin to avoid any confrontations. Also, there were all sorts of crumbs anddirt all around the bed when we first got into the room -- while theysent someone up to re-clean the room right away, it's a bitdisheartening to see other peoples grossness when you first come into ahotel room -- for the price of this hotel, and its reputation as thenicest hotel in Tsfat, they could at least be care to spend some timecleaning the room! Also, the floor was buckling near the window, again, for a hotel that advertises itself as one of the best in the north, they should just spend a bit of money to fix the floor...
Review 122:The view, the location, the food, the dining room, the nice place to sitoutside, nice soaps in the bathroom, the bed was comfy, sheets wereclean, the architecture.
Review 123:Reception staff very hostile -unfriendly . Some other staff unpleasantspa was not avalablr- was not told about this before. Information recity not given.
Review 124:Very quiet. Comfortable bed. Good location. Excellent buffet breakfast
Review 125:We were hoping to stay at the hotel for dinner, however when we visited the buffet we were surprised that the dinner was so expensive and also ended at 8:00 but we found a lovely place nearby where we could make a reservation for 8:30.
Review 126:As a family with older children (20+) we were all able to appreciate the beautiful scenery from our rooms, the comfort of the hotel and certainly the magnificent breakfast!
Review 127:Our only complaint was it was the only hotel in our travels where thewifi was not free. Not only that, they wanted an exorbitant amount ofmoney for it, $5 for half an hour. We complained to the management andwere told that they agreed but as it is a chain it was the "policy" ofthe group.
Review 128:The breakfast was excellent with a huge choice, probably the best on ourtrip and we were travelling for 5 weeks in Israel and Jordan. The roomwas large, comfortable with a lovely view over the valley below. Thebeds were also extremely comfortable. Value for money it rated highly onthe hotels we have stayed in in Israel.
Review 129:No mattress pad on the bed was a very big negative. I would have likedto have a restaurant with Bedatz (Baid Din Tzedek) kosher supervision inthe hotel.
Review 130:The view from our rooms was very special and one of the things thatpeople travel to Tzfat to see. The rooms were generally very pleasant. The location of a good quality hotel in the middle of Tzfat is veryimportant.
Review 131:Must be in shape to climb hill & stairs, as main building does notconnect with newest addition of rooms. Of course, all of Tzvat is builton steep hill, so climbing is necessary to travel to any part ofTzvat/Safed.
Review 132:Hotel is uniquely charming, definitely not cookie cutter. Built onhillside with Spacious rooms with amazing view of of city below, valleyand mountains in the distance. Gorgeous sunsets. My room had Highcathedral beamed ceiling and hardwood floor. Breakfast buffet includedwas amazing with great variety. Food at all meals was delicious withfriendly attentive staff. Reception staff very helpful. Room kept veryclean. Loved the chocolates in room. Will definitely return when next inTzvat. Great value compared to other hotels in Israel.
Review 133:It isn't 5 stars for sure. Poor 4 stars equivalent (ny, Paris) from mypoint of view. Furniture is old, a little bit cold, hairdryer out oforder. Personnel not proficient, couldn't consultant even about touristinformation office. But frankly speaking it looks like that this is oneof the best located in Tsefat. Next time I'll stay not in the city andwill drive by car to the center
Review 134:Location is good. Breakfast is very fresh, no fresh juices
Review 135:The beauty The fine service
Review 136:We liked the ambiance of the hotel, the picturesque views, breakfast. All in all it was very pleasant.
Review 137:Extremelt dirty....including the bath room!!!
