Reviews for Nzar Khoury for Hosting

Review 1:The place in itself is unique, spacious and several centuries old. I wish the walls could tell stories. For Akko and its Crusader history I just felt like one myself. In the maze of Akko this place is easy to find and the owner is very kind and helpful and easy going.

Review 2:First of all, the pictures posted at booking are fake! The place is neither charming nor clean nor cozy as they show. The apartment we've stayed had a kitchen so dusty and dirty that I could not touch anything, same applies for Windows and furniture. Not to mention the floor, our bathroom had drainage problem so it flood the whole apartment and I had to dry it and the water was dark because of the dust at the floor! The balcony reminded me from the slums of Brazil with mismatching and broken chairs as well as broken walls and owners clothes drying in the sun... Very depressing scene. We had to serve ourselves from a pile of fading and old mismatching towels available on the corridor. We also could help ourselves from things at the main kitchen if we wanted to have some breakfast, of course the dirty and messy at the kitchen avoided us to try anything from there. Owner shows he is not able to run a hostel but charges as if it was a charming hotel!!

Review 3:Nothing!

Review 4:Best location. You can have breakfast on a terrace with a great sea view. There is food in the fridge and you can cook whatever you want. It is included except the beers in the fridge from NIS10 to NIS15. Reasonable pricing.

Review 5:The building is in a rebuild state. But again what a location, in the hart of the old city with a roof terrace and a beautiful view over the sea. Excellent for sunset view.

Review 6:Excellent location and remarkable kind and friendly owner.

Review 7:What a pity that such a so well- located guesthouse was so dirty and our room unfinished. We traveled ten days through Israel and we don´t need comfort but we agree with the comments of some other guests that we could´nt be sure that we had fresh linen. Our bathroom and the kitchen where quite dirty. One day we did´nt have hot water for the shower. So we cann´t recommend this accomodation and as on this trip we knew what you pay for other rooms the price for this accomodation seems to be too high for what you get.

Review 8:Good situation in the old city of Akko with view to the sea from the balcony.Parking near by.

Review 9:Absolutely overpriced. We only got clean bedsheets upon request. This place has great potential, but cleanliness should be improved.

Review 10:The owner is very friendly and he has great stories to tell about his life and Akko. The terrace offers a wonderful view.

Review 11:The place is very dirty, we had the impression that the blankets had´nt be changed. The terrace is full of rubbish. We fled after one night although we had already paid.

Review 12:nothing

Review 13:First of all the photos of the hostel, were photo shopped and the room looked nothing like the photo. There were so many high uneven steps to climb up with luggage. The studio room looked like it had not been cleaned in years. Damp, musty, unclean and nothing like the picture. No television. The room was very hot, and the air conditioner did not really work. The sheets had not been changed and they were gritty and dirty. This kind of low type hostel should be around $12 a night. I paid $110 based on the website photos. The owner seemed nice enough and knew the area, but he was in need of a shower. The bathroom had a shower that just let the water run all over the bathroom floor. This was just not what I expected from the photos. If I had know this is what it was like, I never would have chosen this accommodation. Please beware.

Review 14:Nothing

Review 15:The location is great, at the Old City of Acre, close to the sea and all majors sights. The owner is a very kind and helpful host, devoting time to his guests.

Review 16:Very friendly and warm welcome from Nzar, with excellent advice on how to make the most of our trip in the Old city of Acre. Very very appreciated. Prime location and great view from the terrace!

Review 17:The pictures shown on Booking are old and do not reflect the reality:the place is dirty and smelly! My bed sheets clearly had not been changed after a the last guest used the room and still smelled. It is clearly a low category hostel but you pay as if it was a medium level hotel and that's not fair!

Review 18:The landlord is very friendly and the hostel is in front on the sea...but you can't see it from the rooms! The terrace has a wonderful view

Review 19:the room was already very light early in the morning due to the roof window...

Review 20:the room was very light and had a special shabby chic feeling to it... the common balcony is great!

Review 21:First the landlord is very nice and welcoming and we really enjoyed his company. Second the location of the hostel is just fantastic with a great view of the sea and just a minute away from the old city. Third the hostel has a really home like filling both my and my wife enjoyed. Really great place to stay in :)

Review 22:N. Khoury's place is a palace with the balcony on the seaside. And he knows facts about Polish agriculture that the Polish (including me) don't know. It's the best place in Acre and you can do nothing about it.

Review 23:The place can use a bit more cleaning and design. it has a lot of unused potential.

Review 24:Nzar was really really welcoming, friendly and very informative. The location is great

Review 25:the host, Mr. Nzar is the best host we have had during our trip. His hospitality is great, he took us to the bakery where they baked fresh bread. He also has great knowledge about Israel and it's cultures, religions and politics and makes for a great conversation partner. Thank you so much!!

Review 26:The room was clean but it could have been better and more comfortable. Only old soaps and shampoo bottles so bring yours. Steep stairs, not a problem for us but may be for some people. More a guesthouse than a hotel.

Review 27:Nice and interesting landlord, who knows a lot about the History of the Old City, populated by Palestinian citizens of Israel. Beautiful, atmospheric old house with great sea view from the terrace. Perfect location - 1 mn walk from the Old City. Comfort is not that high but staying there is an interesting experience.

Review 28:The entrance is over a steep staircase from a backstreet. It takes a leap of faith to enter. But the hostel itself is airy and beautifully decorated.

Review 29:The host is very friendly and helpful. The hostel is small, very clean and quite, perfectly situatated in the heart of the old town. From the large balcony you can enjoy the view over the coast and lighthouse right in front of you. We forgot a mobile phone in the room when we left and the host called us and sent it to our address in Germany at no charge. I was very impressed.

Review 30:This place has an amazing location, right on the beach, with a huge balcony overlooking the water. Nzar Khoury (the guy who runs it) could not have been nicer and more helpful. The rooms were big and really comfortable. It's also just a few minutes walking distance from the harbor and the market.

Review 31:Very beautiful building, shabby chic furniture blue furniture was a very surreal experience. Has lovely roof too view facilities. We were very impressed.

Review 32:Our host is very thoughtful, interesting, accommodating and helpful. He knows the area well and enjoys sharing special recommendations. The location is great and facilities charming right in the old city.

Review 33:No hot water in the evening . The wasbasin was not clean, dust on furniture- Next to the bed instead of lights just bulbs and not working. An open window above the door to the toilet.

Review 34:Location

Review 35:After climbing the semi derelict staircase to the hotel we were shown to our room by the friendly owner who offered advise but was in desperate needed of a wash. The room looked nothing like i expected from the pictures - although to be fair it was very cold and wet at the time - which meant that the room was freezing (only heater was a small electric 3 bar heater) and the skylight in the roof leaked. also the bathroom had holes in the roof and was far from clean. the room consisted of 2 homemade beds a homemade cupboard, a homemade bathroom and an electric heater. it may well look much nicer in the summer but in the winter it needs a lot to TLC to make it a place you would ever want to stay in.

Review 36:good location

Review 37:The apartment is located in the old city near the main local attractions. The owner is really nice and helpful guy with huge knowledge about the history of the city. There is amazing view from the balcony!

Review 38:The view from the terraces is wonderfull and Nzar is very kind! The place is in the old city! It's possible to use the kitchen and to watch TV or smoking Narghilè over the terraces.

Review 39:We stayed in a double room which however only had single beds. The beds (which were home made wooden pieces) were not made when we arrived (Nzar however cleaned it and changed linen immediately when we asked for it). Lots of hair and dirt on the floor, in bathroom and beds. The terrasse was full of fallen apart furniture and felt like a refugee camp. Noise isolation was poor, you could hear the other guests speak. As the description says, this is neither a hotel nor a hostel, you actually stay in a person's own house. I would not stay here again.

Review 40:Great view from the terasse. Great location, some 30 meters from the sea. Nzar was very nice and helpful.

Review 41:EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING! This 400-year-old house is run by a kind, generous man, who will share his food and wine if you're up for it, give you a short tour of the city for free, and help with reservations, transport, whatever you need. You are just across the angry sea of Akko, next to one of the walls, and right next to the old city. Everyting is just superb.

Review 42:No breack fast included in the price. Not enough clean, even for young guys use to stay in camp.

Review 43:Nice view from the public terrance, not from any rooms. Room big and well equipted.

Review 44:Without doubt, the location is excellent and the view from the rooftop terrace magnificent. Once the ongoing renovation works of the old and beautiful house will be completed, it will surely be an amazing guesthouse. For now, standards of the rooms vary. The place is run by a very helpful owner who takes great care of his guests. There was free pastry in the morning although breakfast was not included. The owner also showed great flexibility when I chanced my travel plans.

Review 45:Not for people who can't do stairs, but this didn't bother us.

Review 46:Our host Nzar was very hospitable. Beautiful view from the large balcony on the same floor of the sea wall, Mediterranean and sunset. Views of authentic Acre street and stone walls from the room. Full kitchen. Nearby restaurants, within the old city yet very quiet. Relaxed, pleasant stay

Review 52:Nzar is absolutely wonderful. He is interesting and funny and welcoming and the perfect host. All three of us adored in.

Review 53:The owner needs to hire a cleaning person. The room was not clean, but very very dirty.
