Surrounded by 23 hectares of land in the Chianti area of Tuscany, La Moraia is a farmhouse producing olive oil and wine. Reviews for La Moraia

Review 1:No fan so had to wet towel to sleep at night other people also sugguested a fan was needed. mosquito net needed in front door too many flies and mosquitoes

Review 2:Quiet, peaceful, climate hot. Met the other families nice surroundings pool can see the farm.

Review 3:We really feel we are not welcomed here. The owner hide to "some people in the office" and as we arrived we hear "pay this this this, in cash, or leave"..

Review 4:Swimming pool.

Review 5:The house was just as charming as the iconic Tuscan scenery surrounding it. Apartment we stayed in was better than expected: clean, country-romantic style and with fully equipped kitchen. The staff was easily approachable and extremely helpful.

Review 6:Everything! The people, the wine (price and taste), the scenery. The place was exactly like you would imagine a Tuscan style accommodation on a winery to be. Nothing disappointed, it was perfect, just a little warm sleeping without fans or air con in summer, but a nice late night dip in the pool fixes that :)

Review 7:* No wifi. (However, the owner suggested a bar with free wifi, 10 minutes away if urgently needed, and food there was excellent also). * No paved road to the location. (It can be a bit of a bumby ride if you have a nice sportscar, but any other car can do the trip without problems at all)

Review 8:* Friendly staff that take themselves that little extra time for you. Without even asking for one, we received a big map of Italy for free which has helped us a lot on our trip. * Spot clean and big room, fully equiped. * No wi-fi. (This can be a plus or a minus depending on your point of view. I was there on a romantic trip with my gf so for us it was a plus). * Pool with a very nice view. * Excellent value for money. We got an excellent deal, which could have been even lower if we'd stayed a couple of more nights.

Review 9:Location, difficult to access to. Ridiculously high cleaning fees for just one night (30 euros when the night was 53, this was terrible).

Review 10:Amazing staff, good and cheap wine!

Review 11:Very expensive heating, cooking and washing in warm water (5,3 EUR/m3). It could be much more than 20 EUR/day in the Spring. Check out cleaning is for 15 EUR/person.

Review 12:Nice place in nature and very calm environment.

Review 13:Just outside of the town of Poggibonsi and within a short drive to many medieval towns. The property is located in the middle of the most breathtaking rolling hills and surrounded by vineyards actively run by the lovely family that manages the farm.My comfortable cottage had high wood ceilings, was immaculate and tastefully decorated.

Review 14:Nothing.

Review 15:A very beautiful apartment which easily accommodated 5 adults with a full kitchen and eating area. Central location between Florence and Sienna and was very close to the town of Poggibonsi where there were many supermarkets and places to eat. The keeper of the place was very accomodating to whatever needs we had.

Review 16:We really enjoyed our stay at La Moraia. It has a very central location in the Chianti region and it's very easy to reach the most interesting places in Tuscany. The hilly countryside of the area gives the best wine we tasted during our trip to Italy. Our apartment was fully furnished and very clean, besides the farm is managed by a very helpful family that runs the property with heart and passion, they are really lovely persons. Thanks again!

Review 17:- no asphalt road to the house - appartmant was old summer kitchen like built, dark and musty odor furnished - it was very cold at the evenings we had to use heating for extra cost - warm water was also for extra cost, because of using the gas - there was no duvet just blanket

Review 18:Homemade Chianti was a nice welcome gift

Review 19:The sleeping couch sofa is the worst- sore back you can not avoid! We stucked towels beetwen mattresses, so we could sleep. The pool is a little bit to small for so many people. It can be crowdy sometimes. It is sad, that they have a fence around the pool, because the view is fantastic! TV has only italian programs, but it is a LCD Tv, so we brought DVD player for the kids to watch cartoons. The mosquito nets on the windows are broken and with holes (maybe because we were there at the end of the summer?!?). There was no hanger for wet towels and swimwear.

Review 20:Countryside is fantastic, close to highway (cca.10 minutes by car). You need a car to stay here!!!!The price is great, but we missed few stuff: there is no salt, sugar, oil, vinegard,.. in the kitchen! We were ready for everything, and we came by car( we had our food with us). So, if you decide to go, take few starter things with you, and enjoy that place. We would go again, but we would want to have 2 rooms for 5 people.Cauch sofa is no go for us.

Review 21:The shower wasn't the best- Very little power and not a very constant temperature. Could have done with a few more utensils in the kitchen like a tin opener and a grill/oven would have made it even better. Also- a sign to say where to go when you first arrive would be helpful.

Review 22:Really great location for exploring tuscany, close to all towns and cities worth visiting (car essential) while located in picture perfect Tuscan countryside. It's off the beaten track but very well sign posted and it as around 5 minutes from closest town and supermarket in poggibonsi. The apartment was simple but had pretty much everything you'd need and was perfectly clean with amazing views. We were able to sit outside for dinner every evening in front of the main house, accompanied by the farms own wine which was delicious. It was great to have the pool to use, very refreshing in the morning and nice to cool off in after a hot day of site seeing. Overall a very pleasant stay at a very reasonable price- everyone seemed to complain in previous reviews about the additional cleaning and gas costs, but if you know to expect it then it's absolutely fine (We paid just €2 for gas over three nights)

Review 23:this place is amazing, the surroundings are beautiful just as when you close your eyes and imagine Chianti. Vineyards, olive trees. The house is beautiful and clean. I still have the empty bottle of La Moraia wine on my table. The staff is so kind and welcoming. Thank you for everything!

Review 24:Quite a few mosquitoes in the accommodation and other bugs. Needed to spray with insect killer.

Review 25:Beautiful views; lovely swimming pool

Review 26:Location, swimingpool,

Review 27:Nothing. It was all good

Review 28:All of it. Great place. Enrico and Emilia were extremely welcoming and helpful.

Review 29:Be aware of all extra costs. Pool and sunbeds looked dirty. Bed is a bit hard.

Review 30:very quit nice place, with kind people

Review 31:Nothing

Review 32:Everything

Review 33:area the rest the cottage

Review 34:Extra Heat ( Gas ) costs .

Review 35:A bit tucked in, need to take unpaved road to reach the Apt. For everything you need, need to travel to Poggibonsi which is 8 odd kms

Review 36:Nice place with a farm house feel Tastefully done up Alina was a good host

Review 37:Fantastic place, if you want to see real Tuscany, you need to stay there! Housekeeper was fantastic, and very very helpful with staying, sightsee recommendations etc. Great atmosphere and staying. Would recommend to everyone. There's no wifi, so you can really enjoy your stay :)

Review 38:The place is simply wonderful. The country side around is amazing. The farm house is exactly what you expect from Tuscany...it seems to be in a movie. The apartment I stayed in is a gem. From the swimmigpool you got an awsome view. Overall the price was really really cheap. High reccomended from all the point of view!!!

Review 39:we would appreciate more road signs

Review 40:after a long walk from Poggibonsi station (yes, we did it) we got what we wanted, and we fell in love with its localisation - up on the hill, surrounded by woods and fields, with a wonderfull view on herd of horses.

Review 41:You should carefully read what's not included in the price while booking an apartment, especially if you need heating. To know your final price you should include the cleaning fee, taxes and gas consumption for heating and hot water. But we did just that before booking our apartment so this is not really an issue. :)

Review 42:Excellent location on the edge of the Chianti region with beautiful landscapes, vineyards, woods and pictoresque castles all over the place. Fairly short drive to S. Gimignano, Siena, Florence, Monteriggioni, and other places one visits while in the region. There's a supermarket 10-minute drive away that offers quality goods and produce you can fix a nice breakfast with in your spacious comfortable and clean apartment, equipped with a fridge and a gas stove too. The owners are very pleasant and helpful and they also make their own wine you can buy and their horses are a pleasure to watch while they run about among the vines. Would love to come here again! :)

Review 43:We had to extra pay for the gas (for heaiting) and we were informed about it. But the price for the gas was very high !!! There wasn't very clean, in one bedroom we had lot of spiderwebs.

Review 44:Very comfortable beds :) Nice surrounding , quite friendly staff.

Review 45:Complicated access (last kilometer is on unpaved road) in the middle of nowhere, expensive heating which is not included in the price.

Review 46:Quiet, friendly environment, nice panoramic view.

Review 47:The heating was quite expensive at about €5/3hrs. A couple of electric heaters would have been a nice extra. The shower head didn't stay up which was annoying, and we would have appreciated fresh towels at least once (we were there for a week) and a bath mat, as the bathroom could get quite wet.

Review 48:It was a really beautiful place to stay. The house keeper was very nice and welcoming. We had a lovely time in the area.

Review 49:they don` have woods for fire place heating on gas payes extra

Review 50:surrondings, atmosphere, near by heaven, horses, sunny terace, beautiful nature, good wine and olive oil

Review 51:you have to pay electric and gas extra

Review 52:it is what you see in the picture clean air mountainous barbecue area swimming pool taste hand-made wine and olive oil

Review 53:The road to get there.

Review 54:The best service from Alina, the young lady that takes care of this place. She does everything to make you wellcome there. We had a wonderful time for 3 days.

Review 55:Mosquito's Ants Very noisy (outside) in the evenings if you are in the main house - didn't get any sleep until after 1.00am

Review 56:View Relaxing and peaceful during the day

Review 57:Basic but very clean. You had to hold the shower and the road getting there was unpaved. But accessable.

Review 58:The views are great and the it is central to some great Tuscan experiences. It has a great rail connection and Poggibonsi is a small friendly town.

Review 59:You will have to pay extra charges for gas. As it represents around 1€/day, this could be included in the price.

Review 60:Very convenient location Quiet place Appartments with high ceiling and lots of space

Review 61:We loved everything about La Moraia - its natural surroundings, quiet and relaxing environment, the lovely family cottage where we stayed, its swimming pool, amazing hosts - Ilaria and her brother, Enrico.....!! We are certainly going back there again!!!

Review 62:The apartments the tranquility the location the price

Review 63:The bathroom and restroom are poor.

Review 64:Wonderful place and polite and welcoming owner

Review 65:Lack of kitchen eqipment etc.

Review 66:Cozy countrysideplace with wodden internior and nice surroundings for redwine and sigthseeing in the smaller old towns..

Review 67:nothing

Review 68:The accomodation was good and the countryside fantastic

Review 69:Cleaning fee of 15 euro per person and gas charges (also for hot water).
