Reviews for The Efendi Hotel

Review 1:Lovely property created from combining 2 palaces in the Arab quarter of Akko. Gorgeous interiors, wonderful service, and hearty breakfast in the downstairs eating area.

Review 2:Great Location in old Akko. Magically restored crusader era buildings. Easy walk to all the tourist sites and Uri Buri Restaurant (delicious fish & seafood dishes) -- same ownership. Excellent breakfasts to order in dramatic knights chambers. Hotel was quiet and we were graciously upgraded to a beautiful room with 20 foot ceilings and luxurious bathroom. Pricey, but a real treasure in this historic city.

Review 3:there is no privacy in the dining room- a very large table in which all the guests of the hotel sitting around.

Review 4:The location is quite good in the old city.

Review 5:Getting to the hotel was difficult. It is on a street which you cannot drive to. I wish we had been aware to avoid the confusion upon arrival

Review 6:This hotel is a Jewel lost in the old city of Acco. The building is beautifully renovated and the rooms very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and the staff is extremely nice and helpful.

Review 7:As a part of decoration, 2 small round windows let natural light in , also very early in the morning

Review 8:unique and beautiful rooms, like no other hotel I've been to, very clean, great roof for sunset views. location is excellent for walks in the old city

Review 9:Inside the walls of the old city, the hotel's location reflects the overall ambiance of the town. Unfortunately, this is not positive. The streets were dirty and littered with garbage.

Review 10:The hotel is unique and exquisite and the staff is amazing - helpful, warm and very attuned to the guests' needs. The breakfast was especially wonderful and the dining room breathtaking.

Review 11:The stay at Efendi was a privileged taste of Ottoman opulence in the humble surroundings of an ancient port city. The hotel was beautifully restored in every detail with comfortable open spaces to read books provided, mostly on art. The breakfast encompassed the same attention to flavours and detail offered at the outstanding fish restaurant, Uri Buri. All in all an oasis of calm and beauty.

Review 13:While visiting Israel this April, we were pleased to stay for two nights in the beautiful suite of the Efendi Hotel. As a creative director of the well-known design brand, i travel often, normally staying in boutique hotels, and yet, the experience of Efendi was special and elegant, makes me hope i will return one day.

Review 14:Parking

Review 15:It is not an oversized tourism hotel, small but nice. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Nice family atmosphere. Excellent and varied breakfast, good wines. When I am next in the area, I would book this hotel again. in the meantime, all the best

Review 16:Problems with wifi. The man at the reception was a bit condescending, pretending that it was my iPad that was the problem. It worked fine out of the room but not well in the deluxe room we had. Also, price is very high but we would go there again.

Review 17:The hotel is quite unique; the ceilings are hand-painted in an old Turquish style. Many esthetical details in the room: cups and saucers, bathroom accessories, etc. They put out a delicious plate of dates in your room. Their restaurant Uri Buri is one of the best in Israël and the prices are quite good. We ate there two nights and tried 10 different dishes; they have a fantastic formula of half-portions that allow you to taste a lot more stuff. We met the owner Uri, a lovely man that looks like Santa without the red suit. He's a delight to talk too and is passionnate about St-Jean-d'Adre, his town, and also fish dishes. We bought his recipe book as the meals were AMAZING. Long life to this gem!

Review 18:The wonderfully restored paintings on the ceilings, the wonderful breakfast, the sympathetic staff, the historic palace with a roof top terrace, from where you can see the sunset....

Review 19:Parking is quite difficult, though the hotel staff found a solution even during an incredibly busy holiday weekend!

Review 20:The hotel is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Lovely spaces everywhere. The roof has an amazing view. Location is in the middle of the old city. Food (breakfast included and dinner at associated Uri Buri restaurant) FANTASTIC.

Review 21:Breakfast staff could be trained a bit better. Cooking eggs/omelettes seems to be a challenge for them, as is supplying water by default, or refilling juice. They should warn people about the parking situation. Even getting to the hotel by car is a challenge many would be wise to forego. Park outside the old town - it's a very short walk. Lighting in some rooms is inadequate. It can be noisy, due to the muezzin next door (but this will be true all over the old city).

Review 22:Beautiful restored building; high ceilings, hand painted. Friendly staff. Large, comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast. Associated with superb Uri Buri seafood restaurant. Located in the picturesque old town.

Review 23:While there's no evening restaurant, you'll want to go to Uri Buri's restaurant anyway! (Have the knaffeh and rosewater ice-cream!) It's 3 mins away and the streets are safe.

Review 24:It's simply 'special'. There's a great rooftop terrace if you want the sun, or to see the sunset over the Mediterranean. The public areas are amazing. And I had an incredibly good massage!

Review 25:We had an unfortunate accident that the main electrical switch in our room tripped in the middle of the night and the emergency light turned up. It took almost an hour to sort it out... but it was sorted in the end. Nevertheless we had a lovely stay apart from that.

Review 26:Its a beautiful place, one of a kind, the building, the interior, the rooms and the location. Israel have very few places that are done up with this level of attention to details. We will be back!

Review 27:We asked for some other drinks in the bar fridge other than water or soft drinks. This didn't happen but we did get more water. The bar fridge is free by the way.

Review 28:The hotel feels like your own enromous villa. Extremely well appointed lounges with great books and sofas. There is even a coffee table chess set. The two terraces have great views of the water and the city. Breakfast is incredible, a chef from Uri Buri will cook your eggs and rest of the little dishes are incredible!

Review 29:Really no negatives... Perhaps a little pricy, but well worth it

Review 30:Excellent staff, very nicely restored buildings with nice mix of original character and modern day comfort. Exciting walks in the labyrinth of old city alleyways and authentic Arabic culture.

Review 31:Remote control of the television was poor, because of where the set tops were.

Review 32:The frescos on the ceiling were a delight to stare at, and the various rooms in the hotel were are really beautiful. The street below the hotel was full of life, with kids running about, teenages hanging out at night, cats lingering around, etc.

Review 33:Meticulously restored - a work of art, a labor if love. Connected with an outstanding restaurant, same owner, down the hill, called Uri Buri. One if the best fish meals we have ever had - fresh, creative, fun atmosphere

Review 34:We had a fabulous room but internet was inadequate. Had to leave room and sit in common parts for better access

Review 35:Beautiful rooms, delicious food, excellent staff and free mini bar. Nothing was too much. When I told reception I had forgotten saline solution a young man behind the desk ran home to give me some of his. That is excellent service!

Review 36:The breakfast was somewhat disappointing

Review 37:The whole experience of staying at the Elfendi

Review 38:Could be kept cleaner and a turn down service would be expected at $750 a night. Need more staff around.

Review 39:The authenticity of the hotel.

Review 40:Parking area is a distance away

Review 41:Hotel is elegantly renovated

Review 42:Setting Restored Historic rooms Rooftop Lounge Staff Breakfast

Review 43:The staff was marvelous, the room was elegant modern with all the amenities. The restored building has a lot of charm.

Review 44:no pool in the hotel, wifi is not working well and no organized activity around the hotel

Review 45:The team was great and so was the food

Review 46:This is a beautifully restored hotel in the centre of Acre. But it's primary attraction has to be its friendly and helpful staff.

Review 47:Lake of shades curtains do not provid the necessary darkness

Review 48:Greate staff Beautifull place Good food and wine

Review 49:Everything. Most attentive staff ever. Comfort in beautiful historic building. Highly recommend. I have stayed before and intend to again and again

Review 50:Most beautiful hotel i can imagine. Beautifully renovated. Small, familiar, very friendly stuff.

Review 51:Everything! Beautiful place!

Review 52:the lamp at the bedside is very low and it is extremely hard, almost impossible to read in bed

Review 53:the room, the facilities, the bed linen, the breakfast

Review 54:The roof terrace needs more atmosphere planting pots with flowers, even a fruit tree

Review 55:The physical space is stunning -- no words can capture it -- as though you are traveling back in time. At the same time, the room is so comfortable, and breakfast is the most luscious combination of tastes, which all other breakfasts at even the fanciest of hotels will never live up to.

Review 56:you have to park your car at the end of the alley and walk for a couple of minutes. it is expensive but for special events it is nice.

Review 57:the hotel is amazing, the rooms are clean and beautiful. the perfect place for a get away weekend.

Review 58:Best hotel in Akko. Equal to best boutique hotels we've stayed in in major European cities. Staff was remarkably gracious and accommodating. Spectacular renovation of an old Arab palace.

Review 59:There is nothing amiss about this place.

Review 60:Everything. What a dream to stay at such a hotel. The rooms - what beauty. The staff - unmatched kindness. The wine - amazing.

Review 61:Akko still has a tragic heroin problem. It isn't dangerous but it is very sad.

Review 62:I first visited this hotel at the invitation of Uri the proprietor about ten years ago, having met him at his wonderful restaurant, Uri Buri. At that time, the building was derelict and inhabited by pigeons. He promised me that it would be the greatest hotel in Israel. It is.

Review 63:Just maybe the staff when we left. Those who greeted us when we arrived really welcomed us, while when we left nobody said 'good-bye'! This just something minor. The place is amazing.

Review 64:The royal room was beautiful, the inside and the view. There is an amazing common terrace where we stayed up until late. We loved it, including our 1 and 5 year olds.

Review 65:Didn't like that you couldn't get to the hotel on the main entrance. The entrance was to excluded and street was a little scary at night

Review 66:Loved the room, the food, the staff! Hotel was beautiful

Review 67:I was waiting to meet Lawrence of Arabia there, but he didn't come! All the rest perfect!

Review 68:Marvelous place to dream, be inside History, as a guest with all honors inside an Efendi palace in the Ottoman Empire. Fantastic decoration, best quality on bed sheets and towels, extremely well trained staff.Glorious breakfast, unforgettable experience !Thanks to Uri Buri, the amazing fish he had prepared and all the welcome up grade.

Review 69:Said it above

Review 70:Location is good but hotel has no parking. Cannot drive to hotel directly as the streets are too narrow. Found the owner by asking someone who directed us to the URI restaurant, same owner. He had us park in a spot next to the restaurant and a porter came to help us. I thought we had a suite, which to me means a bedroom and one more room. The extra space was really a longish bathroom with a tub and sink plus small table. The cost for this was out of proportion with what we received. Employees are very nice and helpful.

Review 71:Didnt like the moasin calling for prayer at 5AM, but one gets used to it. I wonder what percentage of the population actually goes to the mosque ... In our room the Wifi was not good (room 10) but in the nearby hall it was good.

Review 72:Liked the breakfast, the location, the roof with view to the sea to haifa and to the galilee mountains. The interior design is amazing. Seems a fortune was invested in the restoration, and taking that into account the price was acceptable

Review 73:Horrible waste of money, I was told that I didn't request an additional bed when I did, there wasn't parking on site so my handicapped father had to walk on cobble stones, the entire facility is not accessible and the area is really unsafe. I don't think this should be a 5 star hotel as there were so many issues and so many things lacking to make the experience at all pleasant. I would never advise someone to stay at this hotel.

Review 74:Beautiful rooms, comfortable beds and neat common areas.

Review 75:Nothing to complain.

Review 76:The location is just fantastic. Uri Buri is a very nice, interesting guy and an excellent cook. We had a great, relaxing time at the "Efendi".

Review 77:I love that they Got It Right. The hotel is done to perfection the rooms are great, the art is great, the staff welcoming, the restaurant is great. We loved Akko. Just an all around nice time.

Review 78:Breakfast did not offer flexibility. Crowded seating at one large table. Some rooms noisy from alley. Advertised air conditioning but not available.

Review 79:Location.

Review 80:There were signs saying happy hour n rooftop but no happy hour on roof so we went to the wine cellar and the staff member didn't come we had to fetch him and then he knew nothing about bar work. Paying such a premium you would expect staff to be there when needed but not the case.

Review 81:The hotel is beautiful

Review 82:Not really a hotel to visit by car. But you can manage to roll your luggage from public parking Areas 4 minutes away.

Review 83:Unique place in the middle of old town of Akko. Excellently furnished rooms. What a view from the rooftop.

Review 84:Very poor lighting in the room and one small lamp that was much too bright. The contrast made it difficult to see and the atmosphere was not comfortable. There should also be a minimum of 2 chairs in a double room. There was only one in our room so we had to sit on the bed.

Review 85:Beautiful room, quiet, very nice details , also the sweets.

Review 86:Beautiful historic hotel located in the old city. Beautiful suite room with sea view. Early check-in. Nice breakfast. Effective complimentary internet coonection.

Review 87:Sense you are staying in the middle of a city it's going to be abit noisy...

Review 88:It was wonderful! The location is unique - right in the middle of Akko. But you feel safe and comfortable. The hotel is beautiful, the roofoverlooking the city is incredible. But most of all, the staff is thekindest I have ever encountered. Before coming here I thought the priceis a bit high, now I wonder how many times can I come again before theywill understand the price is not high enough... Seriously, was a greatvacation, and I can't wait for my next anniversary to come again.

Review 89:the streets around the hotels, the spa is super small, the spa staff is nice and knows its job but not very professional in everything related to the spa service

Review 90:the breakfast, the room, the bathroom, the atmosphere

Review 91:Beautiful, tasteful, luxurious, excellent service, astounding location. Extremely well trained staff. Espresso in room. Free mini bar. Extremely high quality and clean. Even a luxurious balcony for smokers facing the sea, and great roof garden for evening drinks.

Review 92:The Staff were amazing, the facilities were beyond beautiful and the city is very quaint. The nicest place I've stayed in in a long, long time. Excellent place and I highly recommend it. Grace David

Review 93:Very expensive, over $600 per night. only 12 rooms and we paid the same price for a view of rooftops as our friends did for an ocean view. Very elegant room design but hardly any space to hang or put clothes, not very practical.

Review 94:This is a beautiful boutique hotel, restored with love and dedication by the owner. well worth a visit, just to see the restoration.

Review 95:This hotel can be described as a 'rose among the thorns'....once you have found it among the shabby old town alleyways, it is like an oasis. The decor is lovely, the rooms well appointed and staff with great attitutude! The sister restaurant is AMAZING , one of the finest meals ever...not to be missed!

Review 96:The first room we booked was small and the view was towards the neighbors. We upgraded so we can enjoy a larger room with a view.

Review 97:The Atmosphere is wonderful, the staff was very kind and the Hammam and Spa is Luxurious. Akko is beautiful.

Review 98:nothing not to like.

Review 99:The staff, so tuned to our needs and slightest wants. Each in their own way - a sense of the most personalized service without crowding us at all. The design - wow. Beautifully reconstructed and the attention to every last detail. The extensive public areas, both open and enclosed. The Old City of Acre - wow. A beautiful town even for a day trip, just perfectly compatible with this most beautiful and luxurious hotel .

Review 100:Nothing

Review 102:It's a little challenging to locate the first time...

Review 103:The hotel was beautiful, personal and totally individual. The attentionto detail of the decor and the staff was amazing. The staff went aboveand beyond to make our stay lovely. I highly recommend the hotel andwill definitely be going back.

Review 109:It was unbelievable .

Review 110:Unique property that is stunningly restored! Spectacular!

Review 113:Beautiful interior deco and general ambiance

Review 114:I loved everything

Review 115:Amazing place, beautiful restoration makes it very special. Bedroom has everything you might want:

Review 121:the breakfast was amazing!

Review 122:The access from the parking and the noise of the neighbors. The expensive price.

Review 123:The design, the service, the food, the building the massage
