Reviews for Quality Hotel Bentinck
Review 1:Restaurant downstairs was not to my liking. It took a very long time for food and it was not fresh tasting when it did arrive.
Review 2:Nice room, clean and no complaints there.
Review 3:wifi limit was barely enough to check emails and social media
Review 4:just seconds from beach, shops, parks, huge rooms with much more and better facilities than others offer for the same price, view of the port was great
Review 5:Would have preferred breakfast ran a little later for New Years Day.
Review 6:Great New Year's Eve celebrations and best staff. Most comfortable bed, plenty of room and balcony view of the fireworks was spectacular. Late checkout was a bonus.
Review 7:no negative comments
Review 8:The staff were very helpful and gave us lots of information. Bedroom and bathroom huge and very comfortable, quiet and new bathroom. The meals in the restaurant were varied and high standard. Breakfast was calm, quiet and enjoyable. Good nights sleep!
Review 9:When we go back (and we will) I will ask for a room on the front so we get a harbour view. This is NOT a complaint or a fault just something I would do next time.
Review 10:I preface this review by saying that I really like Portland. The Bentinck is located opposite the harbour and a short drive from the town centre. We booked this property based on Booking.com reviews and I have to say they were spot on. The Bentinck is an old hotel/pub that has clearly had a great deal of money spent on its refurbishment. We had a first floor room which was simply enormous. There was a king size bed with acres of space around it. You walked through a little "tunnel" into a large and well fitted bathroom. The staff were extremely friendly. We ate in for diner; there is an extensive menu and the prices are reasonable. The wine list was quite good. Our meals were simple but hearty. The bed was very comfortable and we had a good night's sleep.
Review 11:Everything was perfect, staff were very friendly and helpful. Meals were wonderful. Room was so big with views to die for! Very clean, would recommend to anyone!
Review 12:We stayed on a Friday night and as this is a hotel they had a DJ & patrons kept us awake until very late...maybe during the week this would be a great place to stay!!!!!
Review 13:Room was very nice....
Review 14:Best place to spend New Years Eve.
Review 15:N/A
Review 16:Old times coming back, if i could give this hotel 6 stars it deserves it
Review 17:Nothing
Review 18:Everything
Review 19:Great location, free parking. Huge comfortable room. Busy restaurant and batpr, but with a nice buzz.
Review 20:The location was really good, the restaurant downstairs was great, as was the service. The staff was friendly and helpful as well
Review 21:stairs
Review 22:restaurant excellent
Review 23:The location of this hotel inPortland is great. Right on the port and within walking distance to cafes and a good secondhand bookshop.
Review 24:Free WiFi sometimes sounds too good to be true....and it was.....hard to connect....and re-connect...and re-connect....dont bother
Review 25:The shower leaked water all over our bathroom floor which made me worried as I am 4 months pregnant and almost fell a few times. A lot of stairs and no elevator for luggage which was a bit of a struggle.
Review 26:The room was so lovely. We were only down for a quick overnight trip and we were completely relaxed. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. It was so nice having electric blankets and a heater in the room. The room was so clean and well kept.
Review 27:The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was real beauty from the past restored with all mod cons. A beautiful grand dame of the area. I loved being able to get a restaurant quality meal delivered to my room for those weary evenings.
Review 28:Water came out from shower onto bathroom floor making it slippery. Stairs could be tricky with more luggage though this would be expected in heritage location.
Review 29:The room was very well appointed with furnishings reflecting the period. Lovely period features and whole property steeped in history. Extremely helpful staff. Quiet location at night. Great king size bed. Lovely meals.
Review 30:The ordering system was a little strange. The women working at the register was very rude and unhelpful. The free breakfast was pretty limited. The room was rather small but comfy and very pricey. I expected a more complete breakfast for that cost.
Review 31:The food we ordered for dinner was very good. The hostess was very nice and helpful. We were told by the women in the restaurant there were no tables and hostess went in and moved things around and set one up for us. which was a good thing because we were hungry.
Review 32:Not being told about live bands and being asked to sign waiver on check in for noise. NO GO. As it turned out it wasn't a problem.
Review 33:Very Comfortable and close to everything. Huge room, appealed to us as old worldy. Loved it.
Review 34:Breakfast was very basic to say the least. Continental was included but it was obvious they didn't give a continental. I never want to see white sliced bread at the best of times but that's what I got with my runny poached eggs (extra) which I asked to be (not runny) and seemed like the poor lady on duty seemed a bit stressed and just wanted to pack up and go home.
Review 35:Room 24 was a beautiful room and had a partial ocean view which was nice if not a bit frustrating. Room 28 would have cost slightly more had the perfect view but was unavailable. Reception were delightful.
Review 36:Would like the option of a reduced rate if continental breakfast is not required.
Review 37:Big spacious room, modern bathroom and you couldn't hear other guests unless they were walking past your door. Brilliant after a big night celebrating NYE!
Review 38:Breakfast was a help yourself arrangement and no staff to be seen to assist. We booked for a meal on a Saturday evening in the pub below but it was so busy we couldn't get served so we ended up leaving and eating elsewhere
Review 39:Great room. Very comfortable bed and amazing bathroom.
Review 40:Continental breakfast offering was disappointing. There was very nearly a fight in the Saloon Bar of the pub.
Review 41:Room was spacious and comfortable. Staff were helpful. Restaurant below had a huge range of food on the menu.
Review 42:Not much
Review 43:The prominent location with a beautiful intact and imposing basalt facade. The corner varendah facade is complimented by the balanced composition of the adjoining building. Rooms generously proportioned clean and well presented.
Review 44:Pub below nice but very old and rough on weekends! Great stay otherwise.
Review 45:Location was great, within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Quality of rooms was great, cute old fashioned but clean rooms.
Review 46:There was a smell, i think from the drains that wasn't very nice when we first opened the room. Once we opened some windows and let some air in it was ok.
Review 47:We had a comfortable peaceful night.
Review 48:Not being to Portland for a number of years we decided on an overnight stay - chose Bentinck - excellent position, room/facilities tastefully decorated, amazed at being an old hotel did not smell of stale beer or smoke. No noises a comfortable peaceful night was had by both. Staff were very obliging advising/suggesting sites of Portland.
Review 49:Breakfast. Very average. No offer of anything extra on first day. No glasses for juice, cups for average coffee etc. ? get Nespresso type machine. Room not service during day. No internet due to coding, simple log in would have been ideal and this was unable to be resolved throughout stay.
Review 50:Extremely busy weekend. Staff coped well. ? on a weekend like this with all happening maybe review requirements. Ate at restaurant..extremely busy and time delay which was explained. Fantastic meal
Review 51:I did not the fact that at 11.30pm a live band started to play in the bar downstairs. I was not told this would be happening on arrival and definitely would not have stayed if I had known. Not acceptable. Very unhappy.
Review 52:Although the Hotel and is amenities are 1st rate the noise from the bar below on a Friday or Saturday night negates any pleasure in staying there. The whole room vibrates with every drum beat and as the bar is directly below the bed you cannot possibly sleep until 1.00
Review 53:The Hotel is beautifully restored, we stayed in room 28 and it is just prefect. Unfortunately the vibration and noise from the bar below made it impossible to sleep until 1.00 If you had a function on yourself and wouldn't be needing sleep until 1.00 its perfect.
Review 54:The dinning room was very busy and the staff were disinterested in us as customers looking for a meal. Consquently we went down the street to the Gordon!
Review 55:The reception staff were friendly, the room was comfortable and spacious.
Review 56:Not being offered a hot breakfast if I wanted it, continential was free for all guests, but would have like the option of a hot breakfast, they do make them, but never saw anyone to ask for one.
Review 57:The room was spacious, room 27 and had beautiful decor and furnishings.
Review 58:Separate parking for guests not with the public.
Review 59:there was a long blonde hair (not ours!) on the handbasin
Review 60:the very spacious room
Review 61:Wi Fi was very slow.
Review 62:Staff were great. The steak was tender Rooms were fantastic
Review 63:Not much. However spa did randomly turn on twice during the night but not really a problem :)
Review 64:Staff were excellent and food was fantastic.
Review 65:The noise from other patrons - even at 1:00 in the morning.
Review 66:The generous room and bathroom.
Review 67:No access to the balcony but I do understand the reasons.
Review 68:Very nice service, central location, I do recommend this hotel.
Review 69:Friendly,comfortable,great ambiance. Breakfast very good. Would not hesitate to return.
Review 70:Nice spacey room, good facilities. We stayed on the third floor and did not hear anyhing during the night.
Review 71:Dinner and breakfast took a long time to arrive
Review 72:The room and helpful staff
Review 73:We had a lovely stay here. We stayed on a Saturday night and had no disturbance from the bar or restaurant below.
Review 74:Room size and bathroom.
Review 75:Located in the middle of the city, but walking distance to whale watching
Review 76:wonderful restoration work
Review 77:Comfortable room. Fabulous views. Great breakfast
Review 78:Friendly efficient staff Clean & spacious room
