Reviews for Petra Moon Hotel
Review 1:Difficult to identify the hotel when arriving at the bus terminal - Look for the pink one. Everything else great than you.
Review 2:Location so close to the entrance . Had a really comfortable nights sleep perfect after a day of walking through Petra. Nice to have slippers supplied for the cold floor. Staff very friendly.
Review 3:not much to dislike, nice staff, priced well, their car service is priced very high, use cabs instead.
Review 4:Clean rooms, priced well. Great location, same at Movenpick but priced way better.
Review 5:This hotel is simply overrated considering the quality of its amenities. If you are looking for a 2 stars hotel stay go for it, otherwise you will disappointed with the lobby interiors, comfort of the beds, food quality, bathroom facilities...
Review 6:The friendliness and hospitality of the staff. They went beyond their capacity to ensure our comfort. Location; only few steps from Petra.
Review 7:Limited facilities, 1 restaurant with so so breakfast buffet, 1 bathroom in family rooms (and lousy flush).
Review 8:Location is great, family room bedding fab.
Review 9:In a room booked for 5 people, they only had towels, bath robes, and slippers for 4. There was also only one roll of toilet paper for everyone. However, when we called the front desk to ask for an additional towel and more toilet paper, they were very prompt in bringing more towels and toilet paper than we even needed.
Review 10:Walking distance to the gates of Petra, and the staff were able to direct us where we needed to go for meals. Good variety for the breakfast buffet and staff were very attentive.
Review 11:Nothing it was perfect for our stay.
Review 12:The staff were really helpful,,we ha many queries which they answered. I like they remembered that we drunk tea/coffee at breakfast, simple things but nice.
Review 13:The pool is not heated. So bad after a tiring day!.
Review 14:Everything. Location near the entrance, very convenient after a whole day visit. The nice room, very clean. Sofian the young house keeper, very kind and smiley. The kindness of all the restaurant staff and his captain. Nidal makes special special mensaf for us.
Review 15:Situated right outside the gates into Petra and the hotel staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. They even made us a packed lunch for our fantastic visit to Petra.
Review 16:We loved Petra Moon Hotel! Best location as it is only a few minute walk from the entrance of Petra and the bus stop. Incredibly clean room with great amenities. We would definitely stay here again!
Review 17:Hallway decor and carpeting is s but dingy and could use a re-fresh
Review 18:Excellent location at Petra entrance and across from the Movenpick. Clean rooms and friendly staff.
Review 19:Bath towels are a bit old and worn. I couldn't get my tv or hair dryer to work (but I did not call the front desk for help either). I didn't give the full 4 smiley faces as the hallways a little old and worn and the elevator got stuck a couple of times (fixed very quickly). With that said, I would still 100% recommend this place as the rooms are good and the staff is the best! If there is a problem the staff will respond very quickly to fix it.
Review 20:This is a very well managed/well run hotel by an incredibly friendly and hospitable staff - they go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. It is a fabulous location with a nice rooftop desk and pool. Very clean and comfortable room (and very quiet). Great breakfast buffet.
Review 21:Nothing!
Review 22:It was the perfect location! A small hotel with the most spectacular view from the rooftop terrace where we had a BBQ dinner watching the sunset, unbelievable. We were greeted with tea on arrival and promptly given our rooms even though we were early. Rooms and bathrooms in excellent condition, complimentary fruit basket and soft drinks, clean and pleasantly decorated. Breakfast was fabulous and offered EVERYTHING, hot and cold food, freshly made eggs, all sorts of pastries as well as savoury foods, everything you could think of. Excellent value for money we would return there for sure!!!
Review 23:The buffet food was dull and I suggest fresh juice, selection of fresh fruit and wholemeal bread. We ate out after the first evening.
Review 24:Wonderful location. Helpful friendly staff.
Review 25:I liked the staff and the location was very close to Petra resort. You could relax at the pool easily for one day relaxing after long walks. Ahmed (reception) and all the other staff people have been very care taking of their guests.
Review 26:Had issues with the AC not working. Bathroom had a door that was difficult to close and made a lot of sound when you did, so if you went to the washroom in the middle of the night, you would definitely wake up the other person.
Review 27:Location is excellent, about 100 meters from entrance to Petra. Lovely rooftop pool. Also a great location to see the sunset! Very decent breakfast.
Review 28:Except the bed which was great, not the most comfortable hotel ever
Review 29:- Staff friendly, always keen to help, efficient - Location : Walking distance from Petra site - Food - Bbq at the roof top - Best value for money
Review 30:1)don`t like One of the receptionist recommend us to join the Petra at night---> so boring. 2) unhappy that one of the receptionist just persuade us to take the taxi from petra to madaba; because not every traveller is a rich people; many of them are just budget planner
Review 31:The receptionist are helpful, even though I am the budget traveller. Two of the staff are super nice, they help me arrived Madaba economically from Petra. Other staff may just ask us to get to Madaba by taxi. It is just walking distance to Petra sight seeing place, supermarket & restaurant; also JETT bus stop. super convinence location.
Review 32:Hotel staff was very friendly and answered many questions I had before arriving via email. They had great advice for traveling from Amman to Petra and even arranged a driver for us.
Review 33:Noise of AC coming to the room from outside during the night. (We switched off AC.) We were really tired so it did not matter.
Review 34:Very close to Visitor Center. Comfy beds, clean room. Good dinner at the rooftop restaurant. Got tickets for us for Petra by night.
Review 35:Nothing!!
Review 36:Great location, wonderful friendly staff, fabulous food and luxurious room with great views of the city from the rooftop restaurant and swimming pool!!
Review 37:Very helpful, friendly staff. Wonderful breakfast and rooftop pool and supper area. Loved discovering Petra and then having a swim in the pool and tea before supper!
Review 38:Hotel furniture is quite old. The linen wasn't changed there were hair on it. They changed it after I asked.
Review 39:The hotel is just 100 m away from Petra entrance. The room was quite big.
Review 40:Room was not perfectly clean. When checking out the bill showed a 'sales tax' of around 1% of which the staff could not explain to me where it was for. He was willing to take it off the bill though.Towels are not always available at the pool, and there is no place to leave your towel after swimming, so people leave them on their chair, making it unclear which chairs are available. Dry hotel, but no problem - there are several places if you want to have a beer or wine.
Review 41:Excellent location, close to the entrance of Petra. Only that little hill up back to the hotel after walking a full day in Petra... Very friendly service, especially from the guy with glasses at the front desk. Lovely pool area with great views. Excellent value for money.
Review 42:Bathroom had a really weird smell that would not go away after cleaning. The shower curtain fell apart as it just stuck to the wall as opposed to being screwed in...
Review 43:Great location Very friendly and helpful staff Rooms are a lot bigger than they appear in pictures
Review 44:The carpet in our hallway smelled like mildew. The food was too salty and the breakfast was mediocre, catering more to the Western palate as opposed to primarily authentic Jordanian cuisine.
Review 45:The pool, the staff and the room. The staff were continually making sure we had everything we need and surprised us with a room upgrade, a fruit plate and an afternoon replenishment of water!
Review 46:The roof terrace is wonderful, I highly recommend this hotel for that alone! The rooms are lovely, very comfortable and everything you would want in a room.
Review 47:Excellent hotel in every way. This is exactly what you want in Petra, without paying the price for the Movenpick across the road. The staff are outstanding and extremely helpful and accommodating. The hotel has a new feel to it and is impeccably kept, breakfast is excellent and starts at 6.30am. Pool on the roof...this hotel ticks all the boxes, and is the closest to the entrance and ticket office.
Review 48:Food at breakfast and in buffet dinner was not fresh. It was reused from previous day/s. TV didn't work. Our room was not serviced and bins were full. I had to request fresh towels.
Review 49:Location. Helpful staff. Rooftop terrace, comfortable rooms
Review 50:Small bathroom, not good restaurant for dinner and pricey . Hallway can use some sprucing up. Guided tours way too expensive.
Review 51:Great location , quiet, comfy bed.
Review 52:Flies buzzing around the breakfast buffet Concierge gives the impression of making a personal side business out of helping guests arrange for currency, tickets and taxi. I didn't see him put transactions through the till/register.
Review 53:So near the entrance to the visitors centre Great to have pool access in this hot climate
Review 54:On Saturday morning, breakfast was rather poor (no fresh bread, toaster was not working..)
Review 55:Excellent location, nice room, well equiped, king bed, outside pool, roof restaurant
Review 56:Excellent location, right across the street from Petra. The staff were very helpful, and the whole place felt very professional. The pool is a nice bonus, after a long hot day in Petra.
Review 57:All good but decoration was not really to my taste. This is personal
Review 58:We really enjoyed our stay at Petra moon hotel. The staff is charming, very helpful and BBQ nights are great with amazing views. Location is ideal to entrance of Petra visitor center. We definitely recommend this place.
Review 59:The elevators were out of service when we stayed there. One of the front desk guys was a little impatient. He just needed to relax a little. The quoted price did not include taxes, service fees, etc. We were a little surprised by these hidden little fees, but no big deal - they're not unfair or outrageous.
Review 60:Location - being right next to the Petra visitor center is just great. This hotel was generally helpful. They were able to help us get Petra By Night tickets, book taxis and car service, and accommodate us on a few extra requests. The extra little help here and there is always appreciated. Thanks!
Review 61:Loved this hotel - yes it is a bit expensive but worth every penny. Location is amazing, pool on roof is lovely, breakfast was great. Just what you need after an exhausting day in Petra.
Review 62:Shower was only lukewarm. When we tried to phone reception - the phone in the room did not work! Breakfast was not very appetizing, and service was not good. The hotel claims to be 4-Stars - by international standards it is only a little over 2-Star; 3-Stars would be optimistic. Only a small hotel without a proper restaurant - saying it is 4-Star is misleading (we arrived late after our Petra visit, about 10pm, and had to find a pizza place for food!).
Review 63:Its location a short walk from entrance to Petra. Reception was friendly and helpful.
Review 64:Very Nice hotel, helpful staff. The closest hotel to Petra entrance. Recommended. I did not expect the hotel to be this good in comparison to the cheap rates paid.
Review 65:We arrived a day earlier than our booking after other accommodation fell through. The staff were super friendly, accommodating and compassionate to our needs. The manager even offered of his wife to look after our baby girl while we walked into Petra for the day! Beds were super comfy, we had a family room with a king bed, 2 single beds and a baby cot and there was still room to walk around. The bathroom was nice. A beautiful view from the roof terrace restaurant of the sun setting over the mountains.
Review 66:It was ok up to the time the AC stopped working, then we have been moved to a very very small room, even too small to separate the 2 twin beds, the minibar was empty, no bathrobe, And be aware that the shuttle from aquaba is very much over priced, i ve been charge 80jod for hotel transfer while local clean taxis only take 50 jod
Review 67:walking distance from petra site
Review 68:Dinner is a bit expensive, either buffet or a grilled food.
Review 69:Great staff. The room was very confortable, big and clean. Great location. I would defenitly come back to this hotel. The price is also an atractive.
Review 70:I believe we were one of only 3 occupied rooms in the hotel. ISIS next door in Syria has apparently put a real dent in tourism here. No buffet breakfast but they let us order whatever we wanted a la carte. I think we were sick from drinking the water in the hotel (could have been elsewhere). Wild dogs howling at night.
Review 71:Modern and roomy. Immediate proximity to Petra. Felt very much like a luxury hotel.
Review 72:The price on arrival was not the price we were quoted when we booked. They added 10% as services and 16% as taxes. The hotel is no smoking and this is not mentioned in booking.com
Review 73:Location nice hotel the view Roof terrace
Review 74:Within 2 blocks of Petra entrance. Excellent assistance by staff, especially with obtaining guides. Spacious, comfortable rooms. Next to large hotel with additional amenities.
Review 75:Unexpectedly high comfort level, location not more than 100m from Petra, great food for breakfast, great interior, very comfortable bed and bathroom, very respectful attitude from the staff
Review 76:Dry "no alcohol" hotel
Review 77:Great location - only 5 minutes walk to Petra visitor center entrance, free parking, free wifi, free mini bar; pool is small but good.
Review 78:We loved everything about it!
Review 79:It's right outside of the entrance to Petra. The staff is very friendly and the rooms are beautiful. We are a family of four and had one of the "family rooms" which is very big and comfortable. Great breakfast too!
Review 80:Coffee was always warm/ cool. TV wad not operative and teceiptionists could use more Warm or Sharm or both at times. Abbed was excellent however.
Review 81:The location was excellent, highiest level of cleanleness and the staff is well trained to accomodate with a smile.
Review 82:Omg felt like home. We were there for one night and they made sure we would get the most of it. Late at night when we got back I was hungry and the manager suggested to drive me in town and get me some food. Hotel was clean and walking distance to Petra
Review 83:rated as soundproof, but it is not really the case (dogs barking, bus arrivals) although it is not on a main street, so relatively quiet room crowded with beds and not many spaces to move around
Review 84:Staff was really very nice and welcoming without going over the top food was exquisite and very good value and diverse hotel and rooms very clean with attention to details Location at the gate of Petra, which is very handy when tired and on hot days: you can come back to relax and explore Petra again and again very good mattresses and large beds
Review 85:Good for a group of friends traveling, not very luxurious but overall nice accommodations. Great pool. Very convenient with a 1 minute walk from Petra gate.
Review 86:Shower needs update
Review 87:Best location in Petra, just a couple of hundred meters from the entrance to the Petra Park. Great views, especially east facing rooms. Nice rooftop pull with the view of sunset. Very friendly staff. Free minibar with soft drinks. Early check in (I arrived around just after noon and they readied room for me in 15 minutes).
Review 88:The rooms need a remodel. All the wood, especially the door of bathroom, is frayed at the edges. Like old Ikea furniture exposing the particle board underneath the finish. Not good. For breakfast, coffee was only available from the staff, who made no effort to offer or refill your cup. You ALWAYS have to ask for a cup of coffee, even when they are standing around with nothing to do. For the omlette bar, they do not set it up when breakfast opens. 45 mins into breakfast time, I had to get the attention of one of the staff and point to the empty preparation area, with eggs, cheese and other items hidden under the counter and covered in plastic. While the dining room was already full of people ready to get an early start at Petra!
Review 89:The location near the entrance to Petra is great.
Review 90:The location, the courteous and helpful staff, the comfortable room, and the great selection of food in the dining room, be it at breakfast time, lunch or dinner buffet. Nidal, the Maître d', and his staff were always attentive to the guests needs. Our stay at Petra Moon completed our memorable experience at Petra in particular, and of Jordan in general. Everyone was nice, respectful, warm and welcoming. Thanks Jordan!
Review 91:Nothing to put here.
Review 92:Excellent reception staff. We arrived early and they had our room ready well within the hour. They're happy for you to leave your luggage at reception after check out so you can have a full day at Petra.
Review 93:Everything was good!! :)
Review 94:We got quite late returning from wadi rum! But the staff waited for us, and offered us room service at 11:30 in the night, for dinner!! We didnt expect them to wait, and all restaurants outside has already closed, and we were expecting to go to bed hungry!! But to our surprise, they waited when we returned, and quickly got us good food!! Really appreciated that!!
Review 95:Nothing to speak of. Wouldn't have changed anything.
Review 96:The location is perfect--just outside the entrance to Petra--and the service and room were excellent, especially considering the more expensive options nearby. I am very happy I stumbled across Petra Moon.
Review 97:You can tell the hotel is a bit older. The drapes and furniture are stained from years of use, and the bathroom (while clean) has fixtures that have not been updated in a long time (e.g. the fan wasn't working). The wifi was weak, you'll need to find the right spots in the hotel to get a good signal. The elevator had problems on our second day (had to take the stairs).
Review 98:The room was amazingly comfortable. The location was perfect, within walking distance from the Petra main gate. Staff was courteous and polite.
Review 99:It was a little more expensive than the other hotels in the area, however we moved to a cheaper option and wished we stayed at Petra Moon.
Review 100:Location and comfort of the room was good. Breakfast starting at 630 was a bonus (it was a pretty good breakfast, basic but good) as we spent time in Petra.
Review 101:Loved the location near to Petra entrance about 5 minute walk. Fairly new hotel. Had a very spacious room with beautiful view. Very comfortable. Lovely breakfast & dinner available with good choices. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely recommend.
Review 102:Nothing negative to say.
Review 103:The location. So close to the gates of Petra. The food was excellent. Loved the American burgers we had for lunch and the breakfast was great. Dinner was awesome value at 12 JOD. Totally recommend this Hotel
Review 104:- if you book your guide for petra from the reception, it is more expensive (~15%) than if you take it directly at the site's entrance.
Review 105:- fruits, minibar, water in the room - bath-robe - location just near Petra site entry - Roof top swimming pool - Staff customer focused
Review 106:A range of breakfast and dinner is okayish although may not meet everyone's expectation.
Review 107:Staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. I did some research about Petra before the holiday, but the hotel reception gave me more information about attractions and transportation, and even arranged these at much cheaper costs than arranging by yourself. The lunch pack is also recommended. You get a choice of sandwiches and refreshments for only £7. You will have to pay at least £20 if you eat in a restaurant on the site. I left my luggage at the hotel on the last day, spent half a day in Petra then back to the hotel. They were more than happy for me to use a shower.
Review 108:The buffet food was fine and a good value, but perhaps there are restaurants that would surpass it.
Review 109:Helpful staff, nice room, located very near the entrance to the Petra site. Interesting view from the roof deck & pool area.
Review 110:Didn't notice they charge 16 % vat and a 10% service charge while all other hotels in jordan and Petra do a 7% city tax and 7% service charge. Also at dinner non-alchoholic drinks weren't included which we weren't made aware of.
Review 111:the location is right across street from the entrance to Petra. Breakfast and dinner were nice. The roof terrace, pool were good.
Review 112:Breakfast was average.
Review 113:Great hotel right next to Petra entrance. Probably one of the most convenient options. Staff was awesome and rooms are very clean and well equipped. Roof top terrace and pool were great.
Review 114:Only bad thing was that we had to leave.
Review 115:Located at the entrance of Petra. Excellent food, service, clean , super friendly staff. We booked a guide through the hotel. Mohammed was a perfect guide. We had a 5 bed room for the 4 of us, very nice. Rooftop swimming pool was a must and just beautiful. Overall a great experience.
Review 116:Only hic is that wifi is a bit on and off and the hotel does not have the licence to sell alcohol, but they are really open minded.
Review 117:Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Even though we arrived earlier than the check in time, they did the impossible to get us the rooms ready. The hotel is perfectly located, 3 min walk from Petra gates and from Movenpick hotel (for drinks...)
Review 118:Occasional electrical power outages. Probably location rather than hotel. Staff worked around problem though.
Review 119:Handy for shops. Good location. Good food. Helpful, courteous staff. 5 minute walk to Ancient City - though 13 km walk thereafter ;-)
Review 120:Intermittent black outs but did not affect our stay.
Review 121:Walking distance to the main gate to Petra and local restaurants. Watch sunset and enjoy the Bedouin hospitality on the roof top!
Review 122:Service at the breakfast wasn't as good as in other places visited during our trip.
Review 123:At the entrance of Petra, extremely convenient. Rooftop pool, unfortunately too cold to try it out!
Review 124:Swimming pool was closed at time of visit, poor wifi reception in room
Review 125:Excellent breakfast and dinner, friendly and helpful staff, within short walking distance of Petra visitor centre.
Review 126:We loved being upgraded for free (it was our honeymoon) and receiving a complimentary fruit basket. The location is second only to the Moevenpick but the prices are much better! Friendly staff and sparkling clean rooms made it all the better.
Review 127:Nothing not to like
Review 128:Not only is the Petra Moon hotel located right behind the entrance to the Petra site, it has a really nice roof terrasse with outdoor pool, hang out area and an amazing view. The staff is really helpful and serviceminded, the breakfast buffet has a good selection and the general service level is over the level of the price
Review 129:A minor issue, but the doorman could be more forthcoming in opening the front door every time guests come and go - not just sometimes. A more major issue was the flooding of our bathroom - and room - after we drained the bath; but the hotel quickly responded, and found us another room. The carpets could also do with replacing.
Review 130:Proximity to Petra Park entrance, and very friendly staff were highlights. The staff took a real shine to our baby boy, taking him off our hands during meal times - something any parent can be thankful for. The hotel is no 5 star luxury destination, but is perfectly comfortable, with a decent breakfast. Excellent value.
Review 131:Breakfast was OK; bit cold sometimes and I didn't like much of the food but could still find enough to enjoy.
Review 132:Great staff, really nice room, amazing location. Lovely sunset view from rooftop terrace.
