Reviews for Saba'a Hotel
Review 1:The bathroom and shower were dirty in the dorm, but I am not sure what should be expected of such an accommadation.
Review 2:The owners were friendly and welcoming.
Review 3:- Only one thing: Gail's partner has a curious and bizarre sense of humor that can border on the offensive if taken the wrong way. Several comments were made to me / about me in the first 5 minutes of my arrival that I have honestly never encountered in many hotels/hostels in the 100+ countries I've visited throughout my life. Even though he may have been teasing, I think he should probably curb this as guests could most definitely take some of the things he says the wrong way (and I think some may have reading past comments) - it's simply not good business. I can tell you that his comments put me in a very bad mood upon arrival. I bit my tongue not to respond to his comments, despite whether they were meant genuinely or in jest/sarcasm. That said, I would certainly return and stay at Saba'a.
Review 4:- Gail was wonderful and helpful. - Very good value breakfast. - Room clean and hot water available. - Excellent location in the center of town.
Review 5:The receptionist told us he reserved a taxi even though we only asked for the price and the opportunity. cat is playing around - even in the kitchen
Review 6:Petra site is nice
Review 7:The bathroom facilities could have been a little nicer, and it really got chilly at night.
Review 8:Very very friendly service - I felt welcome from the moment I stepped in the door. We got honest recommendations about the nearby restaurants, and the price was amazingly cheap.
Review 9:As a single female traveller through Jordan, I was really happy with all the kind travel suggestions and help I received from Gail. Packed lunches are great and the overall relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
Review 10:The entire place feels unkept, especially the space where breakfast gets served (I've lost my appetite when I went down the stairs). Despite having a very creative owner, I didn't see any attention to details in our room or the common space. The windows are very old and the wind blows freely inside, making it very cold during the night. All in all, it was our worst accommodation in Jordan.
Review 11:The proximity to Petra is a big plus and the packed lunch offered by this place also comes in handy.
Review 12:I booked a bed in the dorm (7 beds), finally one without bunk beds! The room was really spacious and comfortable, furthermore I've been lucky enough to have very nice roommates. I had to check-out early in the morning (6am) to catch a bus to Wadi Rum, the owner woke up earlier to prepare me breakfast (which was good and tasty), first time ever that this happened to me, I've really appreciated it! Keep doing this great job! :)
Review 13:There were guys hanging around the hotel in the daytime that weren't guests. I think they were friends of one of the staff. It made me feel unsure that my stuff was secure.
Review 14:Gail was very helpful. Best packed lunches!
Review 15:Very helpful staff who were knowledgeable about the area and understanding of the needs of tourists. It was clean, had heaps of hot water and represented great value for money.
Review 16:The toilet is not working smoothly. There is no hot water in the shower . The manager is lazy and saying some sexual harassment words to my friend. The public reception (wifi hotspot)is extremely dirty.
Review 17:Bathroom/shower in the dorm could be a little cleaner.
Review 18:Staff are hugely helpful and friendly. Helped organize days in Petra and an overnight to Wadi Rum. Ibrahim is hilarious and Gail is awesome.
Review 19:This place was clean and friendly and very helpful. Would definitely stay there again! They gave excellent recommendations and had a good breakfast and Packed Lunch.
Review 20:It's not a hotel its a hostel. 4 bed rooms are same size as 2 bed rooms. Can hardly open a suitcase let alone 4.
Review 21:Nice staff, good location, value location
Review 22:There is no A/C in the rooms and it was pretty hot outside. And the bed wasn't particularly comfortable but it was still a nice stay regardless.
Review 23:Gail and Ibrahim are lovely people. The hostel is comfortable and the breakfast was good. The packed lunch options were great and affordable.
Review 24:- Place needs to be freshened up - Refrigerator in common area (it emits an odor)
Review 25:- Gail makes a great lunch - Gail was super helpful in providing information about Wadi Musa and Petra - Location - Nightly dinners (for a fee) with enough participation - Rooftop
Review 26:Basically everything. Gail (sp?) is a fantastic host - no problem with early check in, room was all ready, she makes great packed lunches, has all the information you need to know about the town and Petra. There's a book in the room that also tells you everything you need to know, suggested itinerary in Petra, getting to your next stop, ATMs in town, etc. Made everything super easy. Breakfast is a buffet & has a lot of variety. Somebody had taken my water bottle in the fridge and she gave me a free refill. Rooftop terrace was nice and was really cool to enjoy at sunset. Location is about a 10-15 min walk from entrance to Petra, but convenient when it comes to eating out, ATMs, bus station and anything else you'd need. Kudos!
Review 27:The only concern is about the facilities. It's easy to recognize that if they give a little bit more care they could change for a really good hostel. But the toilet doors don't lock, there are not enough sockets to charge the devices, many times no toilet paper, no water -you need to go to the staff and ask then they release more water for shower and toilet-.
Review 28:The staff is really cool, really nice. We had barbecue, they can prepare food quite delicious. They have a cool roof top and so on.
Review 29:wifi is weak
Review 30:i traveled 26th country and jordan is my last 27th country and more than 27 hostel i have been stayed. i swear that saba'a hostel is the best ever - cheap price, nice breakfast, lovely view. the most satisfy thing is- reception!! impressively kind sweet women who has storong accent. in fact most petra hostel's location is same because it's hard to walk so mostly use a taxi except expensive hotel so if you care about budget or not staying in the movempic- this is the one of a kind- i strongly recommend you saba'a
Review 31:Not the cleanest bathrooms I've ever seen - but bedding is all cleanly washed, ironed, and changed. Bring shower shoes & it's all good. :-)
Review 32:Absolutely amazing staff - Gail is so great & will help with absolutely anything you may need. She's a pro lunch-packer & hiking recommender - always here to help with anything & everything! Sunsets from the roof are unbeatable! Highly recommended budget accommodation for Petra - when I come back I'll stay with Gail again! :-)
Review 33:I loved everything
Review 34:The comfort beds, nice pets, delicious breakfast, great lighting, amazing ventilation, beautiful backyard so friendly set, guests are also nice and the owner is just amazing, friendly, cooperative ...etc
Review 35:The shared bathroom needs a bit of restoration.
Review 36:The manager is really nice and helpul. The dorm is very good, beds are confortable. Excellent atmosphere
Review 37:The bathroom seemed to be a bit fragile- taps and other fixtures would come apart in our hands. We got so worried initially that we were breaking their things!
Review 38:It's very comfortable and cheerful. Exactly what one needs when ur travelling on a budget.
Review 39:not such a thing.
Review 40:Gale was very helpful and kind. Good restaurant is nearby so dont hesitate to visit in a budget and dont be a fool to believe the price written in the menu which they handle you. It is same to those people there are diff. price for locals and foreiners. So even food can be dealed.
Review 41:They do not accept cards, so I gave the man working there a 50 to pay for my 20JD room. He told me he had no change. It was 6am on a Friday morning so absolutely nothing was open. We ended up driving around the city, unable to find change and ended up relying on the bus driver to eventually change the bill and then reimburse the hotel next time he is in town (so I'm relying on him to pay for my hotel for me!). Also, they gave me the wrong time for the bus to Aqaba. It does not leave at 630/7am, it leaves at 9, so I was waiting there for over 2 hours. A lot of places in Jordan don't accept cards, but not being able to make change for cash is unacceptable.
Review 42:The woman who works there during the day (I believe she's the owner) was very kind and helpful. The room was nice and had it's own bathroom which was great considering the cheap price.
Review 43:It was all positive. Thanks for a great stay
Review 44:Fantastic staff - very friendly and full of advice from the moment I arrived. Made calls to help arrange my wadi rum tour and helped with info for transport to Egypt. Great sense of humour and feels like a small hostel.
Review 45:Stuff was very friendly and helpful, location was exactely in the city center, with lots of restaurans and supermarkets around. Nice terrace with beautiful view. Room itself quite basic, but very clean and tidy, with comfortable bed - and that's all what you need from a place where you basically only sleep.
Review 46:I found the staff a little bit unfriendly. When I questioned why the price they were quoting me was different than the one I found online, they were unapologetic and even mentioned that they were going to lose a percentage of my booking price to booking.com already. They also didn't tell me that there was a 12am curfew and when I was 30 mins late coming in, they were unfriendly and a bit scolding. All in all it was a good experience and the value was great, just would have appreciated a bit more warmth from the staff.
Review 47:the Hostel was super well located, very inexpensive, the breakfast was great, and the accommodation was comfortable.
Review 48:I am older and need a softer bed, but that is me and not the hotel. I am looking forward to a return visit and the improvements they are making.
Review 49:The staff are great and the best. They really helped and made the trip awesome! The did far above what a large chain hotel would have done.
Review 50:Bathrooms had a few problems, Internet works only in the lobby area, and it was quite cold inside in December.
Review 51:Warm beds, friendly staff, yummy breakfast.
Review 52:The owner she and her husband are very kind. All of the traveller s were having prblm with transportation because of the heavy snow. Thy managed to arrange transport and trip for us. And also recommend some good places to eat with best value of price.
Review 53:Breakfast was fantastic; hot water was HOT; very close to the bus station; reception area was like a comfy living room; and Gail is a very nice and friendly woman. So much more the write here!
Review 54:wifi in basement dorm is bad, hot water supply had problem(but was solved eventually, although lately in midnight because it was holiday).
Review 55:Nice staff, good location near Petra within 20min walk, service is good with tea and coffee provided on arrival. Good night view on rooftop.
Review 56:The shower is kind of old and the volume of water is quite low.
Review 57:The staff were very helpful: giving directions or any information you need, helping to call if necessary. The location is quite good, near supermarkets, restaurants or ATMs.
Review 58:Very basic accommodation (beds & sanitary).
Review 59:Welcoming staff - Location in centre of Wadi Musa close to small restaurant and 5 minutes drive from the Petra site - Nice, Jordanian, breakfast.
Review 60:At busy roundabout - don't expect quiet night.
Review 61:The owners and staff - very friendly and helpfull. They also prepare lunch boxes for reasonable charge - very usefull when spending the whole day in Petra.
Review 62:If u dont like to walk, search for a hotel closer to petra entrance. But if u dont like to walk: dont go to petra :)
Review 63:Great staff, very friendly and entertaining. Nice , clean room, cosy room terras. 15 min walk from petra, in city center up hill. Value for money: very good!
Review 64:location is good, it is very convenient, it is easy to find restaurant and supermarket around. we left a package in the hotel after we leaving Jordan, and fortunately, the staff sent this to me, so kind of the staff.
Review 65:Bathroom and shower could have been better and a bit cleaner.
Review 66:Free wifi and parking in front of the hotel. Friendly staff. Clean room. It´s a backpacker-style hotel, so don´t expect too much though. Located in Wadi Musa "down town" - not in the tourist district near entrance to Petra.
Review 67:If all you care about is Petra, be advised that you're still about 20 minutes on foot from it - and it's a steep climb back.
Review 68:Great tips about the area, beautiful rooftop terrace, good breakfast.
Review 69:The walk back to the hotel from Petra is uphill and quite tiresome after spending the day walking around Petra.
Review 70:The staff was very helpful. Provided good recommendations for visit to Petra, affordable packed lunch and laundry service, and a pleasant stay. Rooftop terrace is a great space to enjoy the sunset. 15-min walk to Petra.
Review 71:we stay here for a night because we are on a budget trip with my sister. we think the hotel is just OK, the location is quite far by walking from Petra-gate esp when walking down hills. the breakfast is minimum, i guess life is difficult in the arid location. the room is basic but consider clean. although poor of view (doubleroom), the hotel should improve on the roof top thou, just chair and no roof gazebo there, they should move the breakfast here instead so the guest can appreciate the view instead of in the underground. i think the hotel should provide hot water for tea/coffee 24hr, its just nice after a long day from exploring petra to enjoy cuppa. we came accross the husband of the owner need to respect the guests more and more reserved. we make this riview for the hotel to take it positively and improve for the better them, not againts them.
Review 72:this is just OK hotel if you are on a budget.
Review 73:the facility is kind of old, but it's ok for me since it's still working.
Review 74:Staff is so friendly and so nice. We left the hotel very early and didn't expect to have breakforst which is suppose start at 6am. However, the staff got up earlier and prepared everything for breakforst. Truly, I feel so moved.
Review 75:Rooms where a little on the budget side: squeeky beds. Bathroom was a little small and could be cleaner.
Review 76:Staff was very hospitable, helpful and friendly in everything.
Review 77:The location is perfect, you can get to petra after 10 mins walking or take a cab for less than 2 dinars. The staff is helpfull and the facilities are good for the price. The terrace is great to stay at night and enjoy the view from the top.
Review 78:Gail and her staff are super friendly, and very helpful with travel tips. We stayed in the three-bed private room which was comfortable. Breakfast is great, location is a 15 minute walk or a 1-2 JD ride to Petra
Review 79:Nothing important but our room has no A/C.
Review 80:Stay 2 nights with family (12 & 7 years old daughters). Great location, about 10 minutes walk to Petra Park entrance. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help. They arrange tours (Little Petra and Dead Sea). Also provide us very helpful information. Nice breakfast with Zatar (tipical food). Cozy rooms too.
Review 81:Wifi only works downstairs. Breakfast is very basic - could throw in some fruit or muesli/oats. No aircon.
Review 82:It's basic, but clean, and everything works. Hot water in the shower. It was exactly what we were after - a cheap base to explore Petra. No aircon but there is a fan. It is about a 15 min walk to Petra, which is hot in the sun but doable. Staff very helpful. Staff can book you the bus to Wadi Rum if you are headed there after.
Review 83:They offer packed lunches for a very good price - very useful if you go to Petra for the whole day. Rooms and toilets are very clean. The hotel is right in the city centre of Wadi Musa, so it's close to restaurants.
Review 84:Nothing. Pretty good hotel overall
Review 85:Good prices, well located in the center of the city. For a budget hotel near Petra, this place was surprisingly good quality.
Review 86:Basic breakfast which could do with some fruit or even some butter for the bread, perhaps also a toaster or cereal with milk. There seem to be a lot of single items that don't necessarily go very well together...
Review 87:The location is great and the staff very helpful. The boxed lunches that they provide are of great value, and fantastic for taking with you into petra. There is a great view of the township and Petra mountains from the rooftop.
Review 88:The common area should be decorating in a move initiating manner
Review 89:The owner has lots of tips to travel cheaply within Jordan. The packed lunch is a must. It is delicious and of good value. The rooftop terrace
Review 90:Great value for money, good location, tasty breakfast, and incredibly helpful and friendly staff! Not fancy, but has everything you need. Can only recommend it!
Review 91:I really liked the hostel, the manager was increadibly nice, he took us by car to Petra and took us back to the hostel and many others good things like this!
Review 92:The hotel switched off the router after a certain hour at night and hence no internet connection until they will switch on again the morning (but this is not advertised on their website of course) Also, there's only internet connection in the reception area, and no where else in the hotel.
Review 93:They waited for our arrival until late (around 1am). Breakfast was simple but OK.
Review 94:Friendly and welcoming staff. Good atmosphere. Not far from the entrance to Petra.
Review 95:Rooms are a bit tight and a bit noisy
Review 96:The central location and friendly staff
