Reviews for Petra Gate Hotel
Review 1:Could be tidier
Review 2:Excellent staff makes you feel very wellcomed and safe at this place. They provide all the information, arrange transportation etc. Food is good.
Review 3:A little far from the petra archeological site (uphill).
Review 4:Excellent staff, helped us with booking the tours, buying the tickets and everything else. Delicious breakfast and dinner! Don´t forget to bring your own toiletries! Also, for those who think Jordan is dangerous now because of the situation in Syria: forget it. It´s very safe to walk around and I´ve met no problems at all in my whole stay. The touristic areas are far from these problems.
Review 5:Staff are very helpful!! And I could enjoy at the hotel. The hotel just leach to Petra less than 15 min on foot. If you use a taxi, you can get to the gate 1-2 JD. And the hostel's meal also nice. If I have a opportunity to come back to Petra, Definitely I will choice the hostel:):):):)
Review 6:Petra Gate was one of the highlights to my stay and Petra. The entire staff was very accommodating, helpful, and just all-around amazing. Food was great and the and the ride to Petra was very courteous. My bus for light rum had a quick stop over on the way to Amman and I stopped in just to say hello. I could not give a better rating to Petra Gate. Strongly encourage everyone to tell their friends about Jordan! It is a magical place
Review 7:Had a fantastic time staying at Petra gate hotel. Very hospital, excellent breakfast and clean rooms. Look forward to coming back. Close to petra, 15 Mins walk to gate and close to city center. Nageb made a fantastic breakfast and even packed us a delicious lunch for the day at Petra
Review 8:Room too small for a couple, no wardrobe, almost like a cage No wi-fi Could be tidier
Review 9:Owner is very kind and also staff helpful. They help you with all info. The roof terrace is nice with a wonderful view. We hated the room but the bathroom was really ok and even hot shower Breakfast was ok Location is ok if you have a car, i found it easy to reach
Review 10:I would prefered if it was closer to Petra on foot, but anyway the location wasnt so bad.
Review 11:all the people that are working over there They are super nice, polite and helpful. We arrived at noon and there was not shuttle to Petra but they offered us to take us with no charge! Also when we had to return back the hotel owner helped us to find a taxi with a decent price. Its a simple, clean , good priced and safe hostel.
Review 12:Obviously, it's a no frills hotel. So, do not expect too much. If you looking for a basic bed and breakfast, pocket-friendly, not fussy, then this place will suit you. The staffs are really nice, helpful, and very accomodating.
Review 13:Bathroom floor is really cold, and the entrance to Petra is a 3 km hike away - which feels long uphill at the end of the day.
Review 14:At this price Petra Gate Hotel is a great option, with friendly staff, and good and cheap dinners at 6 JD.
Review 15:They gave me free coffee upon arrival and then gave me lifts in their car down to the gate of Petra itself and wouldn't take any tips for this (10 min walk). They organised our tickets for Petra by night and arranged a packed lunch which saved us a fortune. They then booked me a great value tour in Wadi Rum for no charge and also tried to link tourists staying there up with each other so they could all have cheaper taxis to others destinations. We would highly recommend this hotel. Best value and cheap hotel we stayed in in Jordan
Review 16:notihing
Review 17:the hotel is located in city center so very convenient to buy something and out for local food. hotel owner was very helpful and even helped me to find ppl to sgare taxi to dead sea, which saves me some money
Review 18:The staff at the Petra Gate Hotel made me feel right at home and helped me in the planning of my journey. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere, great value and just a 15 minute walk from the entrance to the Petra sight. Room was clean and quiet. Definitely recommend for backpackers looking for an affordable place to sleep!
Review 19:I stayed 1 night.I traveled alone and was a little anxious, but the staff was very kind and the views from the room was really beautiful!! The room was clean, and I could use very hot shower any time!! It was very nice hotel in Petra.
Review 20:good location, very friendly and helpfull staff. This is a very good option for who is going to see Petra with plenty restaurants around.
Review 21:Could have better toilet facilities
Review 22:Friendly and helpful staff, the accommodation had the basics I was looking for.
Review 23:you need to take taxi from Petra to the Hostal is bit far, in the morning you have the hotel provide you bus
Review 24:The staff so friendly and helpfully
Review 25:Ugly bathroom Broken shower and toilette
Review 26:very small rooms no closet provided
Review 27:location
Review 28:Very affordable. Breakfast included. Shuttle to Petra and the bus station. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 29:Bathroom very small ans in bad state, but ok for 1 night
Review 30:Vory nice staff. Low price for Petra.
Review 31:My kind suggestion to booking.com Do not show your members these kind of hotels, and better remove from your valuable list
Review 32:The attentive emails and helpfulness of the staff pre arrival.
Review 33:Great staff, always willing to help, clean rooms, great value for money.
Review 34:Nothing, everything was better than expected
Review 35:Petra gate is a very welcoming place with a wonderful terrace which allows both enjoying amman's ambiance and resting in a peaceful place. Rooms and beds are very comfortable and lavatories are new and very clean. It is not a 5 star hotel but a place that looks and feels like home
Review 36:The staff and the owner are very helpful and friendly. They always welcome us with the smile. The equipment is old but very clean. I also like the roof top where you can enjoy the city scene. The buffet dinner is very delicious and worthy(6JD/person)
Review 37:This hotel is right next door to a mosque. If you are a light sleeper, the 4.09am wake-up call can be tough!
Review 38:This family-run hotel in Wadi Musa was a great base to visit Petra. As soon as we were ready to go after a basic home-made breakfast, they kindly drove us to the visitors entrance of Petra to give us a much-needed very early start to our day. We caught a quick taxi ride back up the hill - don't pay more than 2 Dinar for this trip. The rooftop terrace is a lovely place to relax and watch the sunset, before indulging in their delicious home-cooked dinner.
Review 39:We spent 3 days in Petra gate hotel with our daughter (14 year old). Of course, you get for what you pay, ie this is not a 5 star hotel, the room is small, the wifi super slow (but free!), the bed not so comfortable... but, but, we really enjoyed a lot being there, because the manager is super super friendly and helpful, the view on the top of the floor is much nicer than the one in movenpick (what a pleasure to have a beer or coke for the sunset here !), it is really 2 minutes by car from petra and very well located and there is this special atmosphere you will get only in this kind of hotel! Thanks a lot, this was a perfect stay.
Review 40:1. The room was very dirty. We asked for a broom and cleaned it ourselves. Inspite of saying they would have it cleaned the next day, it was not. 2. The room looked unfinished. There wasn't even a tube light. The bathroom had no door and we were told this was normal in Jordan, but even if this is true, it had no light bulb or a single hook to hang a towel. 3. The water went off more than once. We were again told this was normal. 4. Wi Fi was only available in the reception and it was very very poor. 5. Breakfast was below average.
Review 41:Dirty, the water in the bathroom is not constant and is almost impossible to shower. The bathroom has no door. On booking.com it is stated that one can pay with the credit card, but once you get there the option of paying with visa/mastercard is only with the addition of a fee for the use of the machine. And these fee changes depending on who you talk with.
Review 42:The roof terrace is the only positive thing of this hostel.
Review 43:Room was quite small but entirely functional and did have beautiful views over Petra.
Review 44:Great view from the roof terrace. Welcoming staff with complementary tea on arrival. Good value home cooked dinner - great after a day hiking around Petra. Free lift to Petra entrance gate.
Review 45:A very large and very loud Mosque right outside the window with call to prayer up to three times within 30 minutes.
Review 46:Very friendly staff and willing to help out with visiting local sites and further travel plans within Jordan.
Review 47:1. This is not a hotel for those who are fussy about things, if you like 3 star accomodation, look elsewhere 2. The location is not exactly on the gates of Petra, it is quite a walk downhill though, but the walk back is uphill and not for the faint hearted (especially after walking all day in Petra).
Review 48:1. The Staff - The Owner and the employees are brilliant, friendly and will absolutely go out of their way to help. They even drop you to the gates of Petra in their Car and I was dropped off to the Bus Stand and the Owner even spoke to the bus driver to get me to Amman (no tip asked or expected). Brillaint!! 2. The Food - Simple and tatsy. The Chicken curry served for dinner was amazing and was perfect after a days walking in Petra and extremely resonable, I came back for dinner all the days I stayed. 3. Central Location in Wadi Musa with the Post office, the markets and great restaurants just next door 4. Easy vibe of the place and the fact that this was by far the best stay I have had in Jordan - mind you this is a no frills place, but the people make up for it. 5. Perefct for the price I paid and it is easily the best place if you are solo travelling or backpacking and do not care for star facilities.
Review 49:how i ran out of hot water and water in the middle of my shower in the cold winter. dusty blanket.
Review 50:staff are incredibly friendly, knowledgable on bus services, while not trying to get you to go anywhere in a private cab. nice location.
Review 51:The room was very small and humid, with dirty blankets and no closet; There was one electric heater in the room, but only one plug, so I couldn't use it while charging the phone, using the laptop etc. While having a shower the water was getting out on the bathroom floor. The lunch box was cheap but very poor, I would rather advise to buy the food in Petra. I don't understand the good ratings of this hotel, in my opinion for the same price you can find something better.
Review 52:Free Wi-Fi, good dinner, hot water, possible to reach Petra in 20 min walk.
Review 53:This is not a hotel. It is a hostel. And an overpriced hostel at that. The rooms were dirty and small. The water was sometimes hot, sometimes not. The owner proudly displays "best hostel" awards, which is bold given the condition of this place.
Review 54:The owner was very nice and tried to accommodate.
Review 55:the staff were very welcoming and made the effort to make guest feel at home i stayed 5 days at the petra hotel which i enjoyed nasser, ammar, kimo were great hosts
Review 56:Very very friendly English-speaking staff. They really take care of the travellers listening to everyone's requirements. Lobby is the perfect place to meet other travellers and make friends. Good home made dinner. Very good location, near the bus station and a big variety of restaurants and shops. The owner is a famous entrepreneur ;-P. Greetings from Isaac and Raquel!!
Review 57:Cleanliness - the sheets etc. were dusty. The bathroom got clogged easily. Heating was good, but irregular.
Review 58:Friendly English-speaking staff. Good dinner, at a low rate. Excellent tea! Good location, with a variety of restaurants and shops around. Trips organised with other travelers.
Review 59:A shuttle bus to come back would be a recommendation to the staff
Review 60:Friendly Staff; Shuttle Service in the morning to Petra Visitor Center; Good dinner; Nice view; ATM, supermarket, restaurants in the street; Would relly recommend this place because of good price for decent quality.
Review 61:great place to stay in wadi musa and visiting Petra . staff are really nice and they take care us like princess. The food was exellent and the view on the top was awesome !!! absolutly, the place to be for visiting Petra ! Thanks to Petra Gate Hotel
Review 62:I felt very comfortable here. I was traveling alone and I found the owners very helpful-organized day trips to Petra and and other sites. I enjoyed it so much last summer I am coming back to Petra and I hope to stay here again
Review 63:Roof top view is awesome!
Review 64:Wi-Fi is sometimes unworkable in the room.
Review 65:Staffs are all friendly and kind.
Review 66:Good location, kind atmosphere.relation price/ services good
Review 67:The staffs are really helpful. Next to Wadi musa center.
Review 68:- Nice rooftop terrace - Delicious homemade dinner - Very friendly staff, help with travel arrangements
Review 69:Staff, friendly and helpfull. The diner, cheap and so taste.
Review 70:Some staffs are too pushy about selling their own tour. The tour to little Petra is ripped off.
