Reviews for Rocky Mountain Hotel
Review 1:The location of the hotel is up on the hill which isn't a problem if you have a car.
Review 2:The lady who runs the hotel is very friendly and helpful. She gave some great tips about visiting Petra and went out of her way to help us during our stay. From the hotel is a beautiful view of the city and mountains.
Review 3:The breakfast was not very good. It was just an omlet, some cookies with coffee and some other random stuff.
Review 4:The owner of the hotel was really nice and helpful. The hotel location is also very good, because you can see the panorama of Wadi musa from the terrace or room balconies.
Review 5:Jane (the owner) is a perfect hostess!!! The hotel itself is basic but comfortable. It is located on a hill (a 25-minute walk from the visitors center) but this gives you an amazing view from the restaurant on the top floor.
Review 6:A family hotel with the atmosphere of home. Jane and her staff looked after us very well. You have to be aware that the hot water runs for showers till 10 in the evening and book your schedule around this timing. In the morning it comes on at 6 am. Jane has great advice to offer and put us on to a special walking track tour that took us up to the monastery from the back and we walked down, giving us the ultimate in vista's from start to finish. The views from the balcony dining room. .....stunning. Food was local fare and very delicious. The hotel is set up for people travelling alone or in families, and such is the value my sister and I booked a room each.
Review 7:It was much further from the entrance to Petra than we realised but credit to the hotel, they run a free shuttle bus service to the visitor's centre twice in the morning and twice in the late afternoon (during winter) which made up for it. They now charge a small fee (2JD per day) for heating which was a surprise to us but we didn't mind paying. Just mentioning it here as an FYI really.
Review 8:Loved the breakfast/dinner room upstairs and the view of Wadi Musa is spectacular. Food was great too and the staff were really helpful. The shower was great - plenty of hot water after a chilly day of hiking. Bed was comfy with lots of blankets.
Review 9:The view from the enclosed rooftop terrace was wonderful. The host was welcoming and helpful and went the extra mile spontaneously. Breakfast was tasty and generous.
Review 10:Small bathroom. Quite far from Petra entrance, I did expected to walk a bit, but the road is very steep.
Review 11:Comfortable room, extremely friendly and helpful staff, excellent view, very good breakfast. Free tea or coffee any time of the day.
Review 12:It was very very cold in these days in Jordan, and unfortunately the seals of the windows in our room were no good so the cold wind was blowing. We fixed it though with some tape! And it's unusual for the weather to be so cold and windy I guess.
Review 13:The beautiful communal area at the top with its stunning view, and the very friendly staff.
Review 14:Jane , the owner/operator is extremely knowledgeable and helpful! She booked things for us and happily answered every question for us! The rooms and toilets are basic; yet very clean and functional. I would highly recommend this hotel for travellers looking for good value for their money.
Review 15:none
Review 16:excellent location, very close to petra. Great food. The dinner area is so well made and the whole place has a very personal touch. Jane is a wonderful host. If i go to Petra again, no doubts i will be staying right here
Review 17:The bathroom is very small. Your knees hit the wall when you sit in the toilet.
Review 18:The staff was very friendly. They were very helpful in suggesting our Petra hike route, since we were only day for a day. It turned out to be great! We were able to see more than what we hoped for in the first place.
Review 19:- the air con did not win over the cold at night - plugs did not work properly - the bathroom was so narrow that I could not seat properly on the toilet.
Review 20:- Economy price - Nice view over the valley - Nice staff
Review 21:Black and white TV and the noise from the air con unit immediately outside the window next to where I was trying to sleep.
Review 22:The staff are very friendly and helpful and the restaurant is just as you would imagine a Bedouin camp to look like, it just needs a little more heat in winter. The view of Petra is outstanding, the packed lunches were very good and served us well for a long day. The shuttle bus is also a fantastic service.
Review 23:TV sets not with real flat screens, Old modèle with tubes. And complicated process for reaching programmes.
Review 24:Welcome, helpfulness, quality of Food, especially at dinner time. Fair pricing. And Great view from the rooms on city side and from the restaurant.
Review 25:The hotel owner was so kind.Whenever we need any help we found her around us.The rooms were clean and comfortable. To have breaksfast at the terrace was very nice.We strongly recommend this hotel whoever will go to Wadi Musa-Petra.
Review 26:I wasn't the biggest fan of a dinner and it got really cold at night.
Review 27:Clean, nice, comfortable... they provide everything you need, very kind staff and they speak English very well. Good value for money.
Review 28:Yes you wont have hot shower from 11 pm (i think ?) to 6:30 am. Just sleep :)
Review 29:It s a very good budget hotel, comfortable rooms, super hot shower, excellent breakfast, beautiful room on the top of the building with view over Wadi Musa. Diner available in the hotel, good and cheap and restaurants (local food !) are walking distance from the hotel (10 minutes). They have a shuttle service to go and come back from Petra. In addition the owners are super helpful and nice. Jane recommended me great trek or things to see around (above!) Petra for my second day. I thought i had seen everything and actually my second day was maybe even better than the first one! Basically it is everything you need to enjoy Petra, if i come back i won't look further and just book there again.
Review 30:Very nice indoor roof garden with beautiful view to the mountains and Petra, completed by a balcony for sitting outdoor. Our room had huge windows with the same perfect setting.
Review 31:The mattress in our room was thin and tired and we felt the bed frame through it. Slight odor in the room.
Review 32:The staff was wonderful and spoke perfect English and the dining room was very comfortable and beautifully decorated, with a romantic view of the city at night. It was so easy to meet and form friendships with other travelers. Breakfast and dinner was delicious. Good vegetarian options.
Review 33:We had a hard time finding the hotel, but that was probably just us as it's on a main road.
Review 34:Spectacular views of the local scenery and really nice proprietor. Breakfast was tasty, and the eating room was on the highest level with those spectacular views.
Review 35:Be prepared for the cost of the entrance fee into Petra which wasn't cheap but well worth it.
Review 36:Good location. Great views at sunset. Not really close to the entrance of Petra but not a problem with shuttle service available or reasonable taxis. Authentic atmosphere. Good breakfast included and evening meal on request. Friendly, helpful staff. Petra was amazing. A must see. I had a great afternoon mule ride with my own guide around spectacular scenery. Very memorable experience.
Review 37:The distance from the entrance to Petra was a little far, but taxis are very affordable.
Review 38:The hotel service was phenomenal. The owners really helped us to make the most of out short time at Petra. Also, the food was incredible.
Review 39:You need a car to get to Petra. Unusuall rules for disposing the toilet paper and restrictions in using hot water, available couple of hrs in the morning and couple hrs in the evening.
Review 40:Nice little rooftop balcony with Petra view and nice lounge area at the top floor.
Review 41:None
Review 42:1st and foremost the host - Jane ; she is really a great host who will ensure you get the best of comfort in Petra Great view Value for money The Lunch pack for your day time Petra trip
Review 43:Rooms and hotel is a little run down in appearance, the rooms had quite small windows and not with a good view, bathrooms are not modern, we ended up moving to another hotel to get better facilities
Review 44:Excellent location, beautiful view of the valley, friendly staff, nice balconies
Review 45:Jane and Na'em were awesome! helping and giving me a lot of good advice, also helping to travel back to the boarder. hotel was very comfortable, especially having dinner (simple but very good!) on the balcony, overlooking Wadi Musa after hard day of walking in Petra!
Review 46:The staff at Rocky Mountain Hotel was very kind and well informed on all topics relating to Petra and the local community. I felt very safe and comfortable at this location. The view from the rooftop restaurant was spectacular!
Review 47:It takes 30 mins walk to Petra, not so close. But the hotel offers shuttle at every day.
Review 48:We stay at a triple room, it was clean, comfortable and big enough for 3. The hotel is at the top of Wadi Mousa. That's why the view from the rooftop can't be more awesome. Having breakfast or coffee to watch sunrise/sunset at the rooftop was the best experience. Oh, their handmade fig jam was so good!!
Review 49:Air condition service is not includ in the fee.
Review 50:Quite place with best view in the mountain, especially, in the night time. Jan is very nice host, super friendly.
Review 51:The rooms looked clean, although slightly worn. I have stayed here twice, the second time the room smelled like vague cat-pee.. Not so pleasant. Floors are covered in thick carpet, which also makes one wonder how well these can be/are cleaned. Other than that, no complains at all :)
Review 52:The location is great, a short drive down to the entrance and with a very lovely view and sunset. Upstairs roof terrace is good for relaxing, beautiful seating. Breakfast is very good, and staff is friendly.
Review 53:It's a bit far from the park if you don't have a car, but in the other hand you have more quiet and a great view. Good breakfast but missed some fresh fruits.
Review 54:The staff is great and always helpfull, great view at the balcony, very nice to have sone tea there after a busy day. Great service of lunch boxes for the day in Petra.
Review 55:Go to the rooftop and enjoy the view well for sunrise or at night to see the city lights ... Another reason will be just to feel like in a different world once you step in the room :)
Review 56:Everything, from Jane down to her staffs were all amazing. She gave more than what she could offer. She was so caring and reliable and sweet. She has the heart of traveler or should I say backpack traveler to be exact.
Review 57:Far from Petra but you can still get around. AC isn't free BTW.
Review 58:Jane is adorable and will take you to Petra if needed, and probably if the hotel isn't too full... Great local food for breakfast too !
Review 59:Having to pay extra for air con. It was supposedly the quiet season-July? So we had to ask for the hot water to be turned on when we wanted a shower and the restaurant which we were going to go to was shut due to lack of numbers.
Review 60:The views. It was an ok place to stay when enroute to visiting Petra. Nothing flash but adequate.
Review 61:We had high expectations with the complimentary all day tea but a bit disspointed that it wasnt Proper Jordanian tea instead a Thermos with hot water then you have a tea bag which you make yourself.
Review 62:The warmt welcome of the Owner Jane and the atmostphere on the roof top watching sunset with the chant on the background. The tips given by Jane around Petra and Petra by nigh, she is always happy to help and explains everything very clearly. We felt very comfortable staying here and would recommend people staying here if you have more than a day in Petra and a Car as its on a slop and quite a walk from the Visitor center.
Review 63:Clean and comfortable bed, more importantly, super friendly and helpful management. Helped me get there and get around. Couldn't have done more. Highly recommended.
Review 64:Jane was very hospitable and attended to our every need. The hotel is very cozy and the roof top terrace was our favorite! Overall great value for the money.
Review 65:We all loved the view from the restaurant. Jane was a perfect hostess and went the extra mile to help us out with our accommodations. We're planning to go to Petra again and we definitely want to stay at the Rocky Mountain again.
Review 66:Nothing
Review 67:the hosts were friendly. I was picked up from the airport and sent to the bus station after i checked out. Love the cat at the terrace restaurant.
Review 68:If you like to stay more central in Wadi Musa you might think it's a bit long walk. (The hotel run a free shuttle though).
Review 69:Arrived at 11 from Amman. Was served late breakfast for free when I asked about open restaurants during Ramadan. The free shuttle (I was the only one so the owner said I could go when it suited me) dropped me at the bus station. Great view over the town, Valley and mountains. The owner also got great tips for hiking routs.
Review 70:-Some may prefer a location closer to Petra (for me the distance was fine)
Review 71:-Staff was super helpful -The view from the restaurant balcony is serene -Coffee/tea all day facility is a nice gesture, even if you don't use it -My room was very neatly done up and cosy
Review 72:Very clean, large and comfortable rooms. The free shuttle to Petra is very useful. Jane is very nice and helpful. Breakfast in the morning on the terrace watching the sun rising is also quite amazing
Review 73:Absolutely value for money here! Very friendly and helpful staff, nice atmosphere in the hotel. We lost track of time in Petra and were allowed a late check-out at no extra charge so that we could shower and change clothes. The view from the balcony in the restaurant is amazing.
Review 74:There are some negligeable restrictions (no hot water in the afternoon, but you really don't need it; they change towels every 2 days but most of the guests stay for 1 night etc). If you are OK with the list of restrictions (we were absolutely OK), it the right place to stay for you.
Review 75:Best view in town from the room and the terraсe. Good breakfast and diner (no need to find restaurant after hard day in Petra). Free shuttle to Petra. Very kind and pleasant owners.
Review 76:Breakfast is not well assorted (eggs, arabic bread, few vegetables, jam). Only cash hotel, come prepared with money. Walls are very thin you can hear everything. Hot water available only at certain time.
Review 77:Location of the place, with a great roof top terrace view. Free parking in front of the hotel, and only 5 minutes away by car from Petra. Free wifi and works perfectly. Tea and coffee available for free all day.
Review 78:Panoramic views from room. Great upstairs lounge and terrace---very cozy with Bedouin decor and hot tea round the clock. Delicious breakfast and tasty dinner. Fantastic staff---Mohammad was a great guide and Jane was a helpful and generous host. Best location in Wadi Musa!
Review 79:The fixed carpet, the lack of privacy in the room.
Review 80:The staff's friendliness and adequate service; comfortable and nice breakfast place (with a great view on Petra valley).
Review 81:Jane, the owner, was really helpful with planning our trip after we arrived. She works hard to make Jordan/Petra safe for women travelers. I have travelled a lot in the MENA region, and you can see that she truly goes the extra mile beyond just her word that she will take care of you. In addition, the rooftop lounge/restaurant is great for sitting around all day or all night. The view is amazing to watch over a meal, free tea or coffee, or shisha.
Review 82:Nothing was an issue for me but might be for some - in cooler months, it might be a bit cold in the room (heater is for extra fee), no shower gel or hairdryer, hot water within certain hours, hotel locks after midnight. But it's definitely worth it, I had a great stay and would come back if in Jordan.
Review 83:The social/dining area with the terrace overlooking the town and Petra mountains is amazing. I also recommend taking dinners there (10JD). Staff is very friendly and welcoming, especially Husain took great care of me, explained, advised and helped me plan and calculate my trip. If you need a driver in Jordan, ask for him! Lunch boxes are available on request. Wifi worked great in my room.
Review 84:Although the comfort was great, we had a wonderful local feeling. We had a room with a wonderful, amazing, view over the valley of Wadi Mussa - In awe. Staff was wonderful and helpful at all times!!
Review 85:Jane, lovely lady ( well she is originally a Brummy ) extremely helpful and very obliging when we had trouble getting our money from an ATM. Great upstairs " Bedouin-style " room for sitting, breakfast---and birthday parties..... sweetheart of a little girl wanted me to play at being a dinosaur...I know I'm getting on a bit but still.......... Jane really great, as is her husband and brother in law--our taxi driver to the turkish baths. definately reccommend this hotel
Review 86:10 minutes walk to the main street, 25 to the Petra entrance. But free shuttle is provided.
Review 87:Very helpful staff Top floor restaurant with beatiful view and free coffee and tea Cheap and delicious dinner Free shuttle to the turkish bath with great service
Review 88:First of all , the room is cold during beginning of April . We were told on the spot the heater will Cus us extra 2 JD . Second, we did checking a bit late, then we were told the main door will be shut at midnight sharp. We can't stay out later as we like. The water heater for shower stop running at 10pm. Makes it inconvenient that everything we do is time restricted.
Review 89:The hotel is not far from the gate( shuttle 7:3/8:30) even we did not use it. We got a room with great view of the little town.
Review 90:Rocky Mountain hotel is situated on a high hill where you see amazing scene towards Petra mountains. We spent two wonderful days in Petra. The nice lady in reception helped us a lot to plan our trip and gave good advices which paths to walk in Petra valley. Hotel has an own Shuttle service to take people to the visitors centre in the morning and back in the evening. That was super! The room (for three people) was huge! The terrace in the up was also great and the views from there! We really recommend Rocky Mountain hotel to everyone!
Review 91:It has the best view during the day but especially at night. Loved sitting there and just looking far away. My host was very nice and the staff. I was picked up at the Amman airport and brought to Wadi Musa. Don't expect luxury accommodation by North American Standard. I was fine with it.
Review 92:The hotel locates on a high place and own a good view to overlook the downtown. The roof restaurant express us a lot - it's full of Beduin style. The manager and staff are very nice and willing to help. They also offer free shuttle to Petra entrance.
Review 93:We stayed at Rocky hotel for one night on out short trip to Jordan. The place is very clean, comfortable with fast wifi in all the rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful and the manager Jane personally went to our room to try and fix a problem we had with wifi, and fixed it quick. I also loved the personal touch of offering a packed lunch for 4 JD. All in all a lovely, homely hotel that's great value.
Review 94:- I only stayed for an hour at this hotel. I caught a staff person peeping at me through the window as I changed my clothes after my shower so left immediately. The owner confronted me about checking in but not paying and I told her what happened. She wrote me an email later that day advising that the staff person had been fired. The experience really shook me up. - there was no hot water when I showered at 3 pm when I checked in - I was surprised to learn that the hotel does not take credit card!! Only cash (usd or dinars) - the lobby smells like smoke but the room was fine
Review 95:- big room - overall pretty clean (except one of the bed sheets) - wifi was good
Review 96:The hotel is up a steep hill from Petra site entrance if you miss the shuttle bus. There was hot water only at two times a day. The rooms were dated.
Review 97:Fantastic view of Petra from the hotel. Excellent staff. Shuttle bus to Petra entrance. The evening meal (at additional cost) was very tasty.
Review 98:They do not have heating in the rooms and in february it was a little bit difficult to heat the rooms only with the A/C.
Review 99:The staff was very helpful, trying to provide solutions all the time. Breakfast was good, although they could have real caffe. I also had the buffet dinner and it was very good. They provide free transfer to and from Petra, which is a good thing. I enjoyed my stay at this hotel.
Review 100:The door shut by midnight. No more grocery shopping or getting hot water for coffee after that. Hot shower is limited to certain hours only.
Review 101:The scenery of surrounding mountains. Good food. Helpful staffs who provide very useful information about petra. Friendly professional service.
Review 102:The owner is very nice and helpful. She gave me lots of advice about walking trails in Petra. Also had a very nice breakfast and a free ride to Petra gate as well. The facilities as well are good for a hostel.
Review 103:- personal preference for a pullover instead of the supplied blankets
Review 104:+ transfer to and from Petra entrance (steep road) + rooftop relax area + good local warm meal prepared upon request + knowledgeable owner, friendly staff + super market with transparent pricing around the corner
Review 105:Prior to even getting there the hotel did an exceptional job planning our trip. They even gave us an extra room to store our luggage. View from dining area is magnificent.
Review 106:though the beds were comfortable and clean there was an intermitent noise that kept one of our party awake
Review 107:Very good value for money, the view and location was excellent if u have a car, staff were friendly and very helpful
Review 108:for the money i paid i liked everything.
Review 109:amazing view you . Both while having shisha in the evening and also while having breakfast. Rooms are basic but works great. Also i would like to mention the people were very nice and specially the lady from new zealand. She knows her stuff really well and guided us really well. I apologize for not remembering her name.
Review 110:Dinner options, at least for winter/low season were limited to a menu of the day and this had to be confirmed before 5PM (the meal was good and hearty, but was just limited choice).
Review 111:Amazing Bedouin-style rooftop restaurant/breakfast area, great views from here and our room toward Petra. Although the usual managers were away the stand-in was incredibly friendly and helpful.
Review 112:Great view and ambience, friendly staff (especially Paolo), excellent traditional breakfast, good location - close to local shwarma and falafel places.
Review 113:the bathroom didnt have shampoo so we had to buy some.
Review 114:the friendly and helpfull staff. We really enjoyed our conversations with Paolo.the view was fascinating and the decoration in the room and tarace restarant was beautiful
Review 115:Second time I have stayed here. Fantastic views from the lounge and some of the bedrooms, relaxing, clean and comfortable hotel that is great value. I would stay there rather than one of the five star hotels!
Review 116:The place is bit far from the ruin and center of the Wadi Musa. So when you are tired in the evening, you only feel like eating at hotel which was nice but need effort if you want something else.
Review 117:Comfortable enough to stay and I like their sitting space where we can enjoy the view of the city and Petra. Food was nice and their morning and evening transport to/from Petra was helpful.
Review 118:The bed was a bit hard to sleep on, but nothing to worry about.
Review 119:Jane was extremely helpful and happy to chat whenever possible. Delicious breakfast &dinner at a reasonable price. Awesome views from the upstairs terrace. This hotel never claimed to be pretentious, it's clean and offers excellent value for your $$$
Review 120:The room door doesn't close properly and must be locked. It opens by itself if u do not lock it with a key. Toilet cover doesn't stay up, it is slightly leaning forward and need to be held up while using it. If they would fix the hardware of the room that would do the friendly staff justice.
Review 121:View from the room and rooftop restaurant is great. Breakfast is good. There is omelete made to order and pita bread is warm. We ordered lunchbox to take to petra the night before but the reception forgot to make it down. Luckily Jane prepared it in a few minutes in the morning so we are still on schedule
Review 122:If you value your sleep and shower I don't recommend you stay here. Anyone with dust sensitivities stay away because it is full of carpets and rugs that are dusty. We paid for 2 nights and stayed for 1. The management keep repeating that they are a budget hotel but there are plenty of budget hotels that are much better than this one.
