Reviews for Park Hotel Regina
Review 1:Peaceful old world hotel, the rooms are a good size with a fridge, the rooms are very clean and comfortable. The pool area is very pleasent where you can relax to the sound of the river running nearby. Good breakfast which can be taken inside or outside.
Review 2:Reception closed at 8.30. Difficult for late arrival. Breakfast buffet was poor, not enough selection.
Review 3:Great location, Short walk to restaurants. good swimming pool. lovely view from bedroom. very friendly, helpful staff, good car parking.
Review 4:It was particularly hot this August and so even the balcony bedroom was hot at night Just a weather issue!
Review 5:The hotel is in a great location, there are restaurants within walking distance and plenty of local shops within metres. The pool is fantastic and the view from our balcony room was stunning. We were encouraged to upgrade to a balcony room which we did. It did add to cost but it was certainly worth it - not sure if we could have stayed in a smaller bedroom in August. Staff very polite and helpful. We hope to return!
Review 6:We had a 1 year old with us and were placed at the front of the hotel where we could hear extremely loud music until very late! No air conditioning which also made it difficult to get baby to sleep so we has a very restless night with hardly any sleep. For this reason one night was definitely enough!
Review 7:Great location and pool. Receptionist very helpful and knowledgable .
Review 8:Towels looked more like bedsheets, shower was leaking. Room had no airconditioning, to hot to sleep. Rooms on the roadside are very noisy. The hotel tried to push us to cancel our booking to save themselves the booking.com-fee....
Review 9:nice swimming pool and good breakfast
Review 10:Lack of bar services in evening. Can't help thinking that offering a welcome bar and evening meals would make this hotel perfect. Had to go and buy an electric fan as the room was so hot and stuffy
Review 11:The staff are amazing. Really helpful and friendly. The pool area is fantastic
Review 12:nil.
Review 13:Friendly and very helpful managers. Great location. Excellent pool and spa facility. Ample breakfast with pleasant hosts. Wonderful setting for a taste of Tuscany.
Review 14:I was contacted by email the day before departure by the hotel proprietor requesting that I should cancel my booking with booking.com and re book directly with the hotel to an upgraded room at an extra 40 euros per night. I declined this offer as the hotel accommodation was not cheap in the first instance. It later emerged that the rest of the party had also been requested to cancel their booking and 'upgrade'.We were then placed in an enormous ground floor room with 1 double bed and 3 single beds. The two of us were somewhat 'rattling' around this huge impersonal room. The room was without the facilities which other guests had e.g. Wi-Fi, minibar. There appeared to be a 'temporariness' about the room, as if it usually served as a staff base rather than a guest room. The room was itself was identified with an A4 handwritten number stuck to the door with 'sellotape'.While the room was spotlessly clean, the worst thing about our stay was the late night and early morning noise from the busy road directly outside the window! I felt like I hardly had any sleep over the four nights stay. The first morning of our stay, the room was actually entered by a member of staff at approx. 7.00 am with a key through an adjoining linen room door. We were in lying in bed at the time!!This also happened on a second occasion through the main room door but thankfully we were up ready for an early departure that morning.Another morning we were woken at 6.30 by the loud clanking of metal due assembly of the street market directly outside the window. I appreciate that this is out of the hotel's control.Overall, as a regular traveller and hotel booker, I was disappointed with the hotel. By not paying cancelling our booking with booking.
Review 15:My daughter and I stayed at the hotel in order to attend a family wedding in nearby village. The hotel location was good in the centre of Bagni di Lucca and near to local restaurants and bus stops. The swimming pool was lovely with pool side bathing areas and the attendant was helpful, putting up parasols etc. The hotel garden was beautifully maintained. The young girl on reception, who seemed to do everything, was very pleasant and provided us with a packed breakfast on the morning of early departure.
Review 16:I have been travelling to Bagni di Lucca for over 50 years to visit family. This is the first time I have had the opportunity to stay in a hotel. We were very impressed by the facilities and cleanliness of the hotel and by the staff. Excellent breakfast and great value for money. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
Review 17:noise from the main road is disturbing at night a bit light coming from the hall to the room shines directly to the bed
Review 18:very nice staff, great location, room had all that we needed, breakfast was delicious
Review 19:Could not check in the first night because check in closes at 8 pm. Should have arrived before 8 pm but our car broke down, which caused us a lot of problems as we had to find alternative accommodation for the first night. Be aware!
Review 20:Location is good and there is a car park which is handy
Review 21:We have just come back from a 10 night stay at this wonderful hotel in picturesque Bagni Di Lucca. We miss it already, such a homely enviorment and quaint village feel. Fabulous walking around and very good value in October! A holiday to remember with bike rides, hiking and white water rafting! Delicious food and wine over the road at Del Sonno. Enjoy your time! You have to visit
Review 22:Reception closing time too early. Lack of permenant lounge area
Review 23:Very comfortable large bed. As we were at the end of the season the swimming pool was not available which would be, with the jacqusi, a great bonus during the summer season. Roberto's personality. (Owner) Very pleasant outlook and river walkway. Convenient for the town and it's facilities
Review 24:Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would have been a bonus but there was a well stocked mini bar.
Review 25:We stayed at the Regina on 15th October 2014 for one night. The location is great, near local restaurants and bars. Our room was on the park side with a wonderful view of the river. The staff were very helpful and the manager even recommended a good walk around Bagni Di Lucca which had great views of the town. I would recommend this hotel, it offers fantastic value for money in a great location.
Review 26:This hotel was fantastic. First of all, we were asked if we would like to have a room to the street or not. For some extra Euros you can have a very quite room to the inside of the hotel. We did not take it and still could sleep good, inspite of the street. The hotel looks very big on the pics, but it is actually a small and very lovely. The room was also much nicer than on the pictures. Very clean and high quality. The breakfast is great, especially for Italy, there were not only very good "dolce" but also bread and toast with butter, cheese and sausage (Mortadella), but also fresh fruit. I think the "dolce" was also homemade, because it smelled so nice in the evenings like homemade cake. The best is the service, the guy at the reception explained us all that we can see in this town and also carried our very big bag to the car. It was a really nice stay, this was real Italy without many tourist with breathtaking mountains! We were on our honeymoon there and enjoyed it a lot! Really good quality for so little money!!!
Review 27:we have to admit to behaving quite badly as guests, turning up over an hour too late to check in. We were patiently waited for however, and a guilty look at our mobile phone revealed that they had indeed called us eleven times to enquire as to our intentions/whereabouts. Despite this poor start on our part, the receptionists and all the staff were endlessly kind, considerate and happy to engage with our questions and indeed conversations, which were conducted in both English, and our mangled italian. A pleasant large room, and a delightful swimming pool, over looking the picturesque river completed a great experience.
Review 28:If you are sensitive about noise pay the little extra for a room overlooking the gardens. We had a room at the front and were very happy but some have complained. Value for money quite fantastic.
Review 29:The staff were superb, very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent each day. Our room was well serviced every day and the gardens and pools immaculate. We would definitely use the hotel again if in the area.
Review 30:When we arrived, a larger room with a balcony was available and we were offered an upgrade for a small fee. It was well worth the fee. The pool area was relaxing and clean. It is perfect for people who want to relax or for a family with children. If you are looking for a busy nightlife with many bars and restaurants, then, Bagno di Lucca is NOT the place. It is a small beautiful village where the pace of life is totally different to city-life.
Review 31:There wasn't anything I could complain about. It was an amazing time.
Review 32:We loved the outlook from our room, was quite breath taking with the lush forest behind the beautiful pool. With well thought about comfortable poolside chairs. Staff very acomodating, and comfortable bed. Location excellent ,, the most amazing food right across the road. Italian with take away pizza bar. Every meal was a taste sensation. We were going to stay 1 day but just not long enough so stayed for 3. Could have stayed for much longer.
Review 33:No air conditioning.
Review 34:The staff, the pool, the atmosphere, the location, the price.
Review 35:Sarah on reception is a lovely friendly helpful person, nothing is too much trouble for her
Review 36:No Air Con Road outside Busy
Review 37:The staff were very accommodating
Review 38:Rooms in bad need of air conditioning
Review 39:Lovely place and lovely staff lovely location
Review 40:Rooms on road side very noisy, could not keep window open. No air con, bathroom smells fusty.
Review 41:Pleasant staff, great pool.
Review 42:Aircon panel did not seem to be connected to any aircon system.
Review 43:The pool. Fabulous nearby restaurant
Review 44:No dislike
Review 45:The hotel was in central beside restaurant shop bus services
Review 46:Very friendly staff, very helpful
Review 47:No free wi-fi
Review 48:I loved the comfort and the proximity to the center of Bagni di Lucca. Loved the cleanliness
Review 49:Good breakfast, helpful manager
Review 50:an intime hotel'with personal treatment/
Review 51:Heating wasntnon during the evening
Review 52:Comfiest bed and the hotel manager was very helpful
Review 53:No bar in the hotel
Review 54:Ideal location, close to restaurants & bars. Very pleasant staff. Nice hot coffee and good breakfast
Review 55:Relaxed staff, always helpful, lovely outlook & good value clean Hotel
Review 56:Stay away, they offer prices at interesting and fair level and when you arrive they charge for a number of things. Room was dirty and furniture partly broken. The offered menue is a shame in Italy. The pool was dirty and the broken surronding is dangerous. Parking for Motorbikes 15Euros each, no closed area. A joke as the whole Hotel. Building will be nice after restructuring and change of owner.
Review 57:Nothing
Review 58:The town was a little drab with nothing much to do there. We were passing through and were glad we were not staying for any length of time.
Review 59:Nice old hotel with a nice pool. The room was large and clean.
Review 60:getting to this place was a hassle, luckily enough my mom and I met the gardener and he helped us out from the train station. Best to get a car and drive there. Best to book with a group, the breakfast was less than average and It was the one thing I was looking forward to, because we were the ONLY ones in the hotel, the chef was moved to a more busier hotel miles away.
Review 61:Very nice hotel as well as the staff, located in a very sleepy town, but beautiful views from the hotel. Great getaway to relax.
Review 62:Liked everything about this hotel
Review 63:Old Hotel with lots of charm. Great garden area alongside river. We were there out of season for five nights - outdoor pool not available until 1st May. However we made the most of the garden area. The hotel manager, Roberto, could not have been more welcoming or helpful. Two very good restaurants right on doorstep of hotel. Great hotel for walkers or for simply relaxing. Also great base for touring historic cities of Lucca, Pisa, Barga etc.
Review 64:The staff was very friendly and helpful. I got pickpocketed on a train and their help was amazing, even accompanying me to the carbineri to act as translator and making many phone calls to try and assist us.The room was a good size and well kitted out and the bathroom was lovely. The only drawback was that our room was facing the road and there was some traffic noise but considering the budget price, we did not mind. Excellent value for money.
Review 65:Very friendly personnel, helpful and accommodating. Delicious home-made jams, fresh bread and produce for breakfast, lovely garden with pool, parking for guests was a real convenience. Rooms get cleaned every morning. We liked being there in low season and receive full attention to our needs and wants. Thank you, Roberto!
Review 66:We were visiting Florence, so the hotel was quite far, but then again it was cheap. Also the staff didn't speak great English and it was difficult to arrange a late check-in.
Review 67:The rooms are very spacious, clean and nicely decorated. Big bathroom, the soaps and shampoos smell amazing! Breakfast was varied and coffee delicious.
Review 68:Hotel needs additional cleaning staff. Also someone more proficient inEnglish would have been a huge help. A shelf in shower would have beenappreciated. Two euro per hour for WIFi is irritating. Use Cafe Roma oneblock away; it's free.
Review 69:Excellent location in town center. Good breakfast and service. Couple incharge try hard to please. Restaurant da Mamo is excellent.
Review 70:There was a problem with the heating in the room, but this was promptly fixed when the manager arrived.
Review 71:Local cheese and ham for breakfast was delicous.Wonderful location overlooking the river, the hotel has a Castle like feel to it.
Review 72:the same breakfast for 10 days!never made of tomatoes, cucumbers and other fresh vegetables. At the reception usually no receptionist. No way to get some information.if you need.
Review 73:nice pool, comfortable sun loungers, beautiful surroundings, good base for Lucca, Florence and other places.Hotel good only as a starting point to antother places
Review 74:We found the breakfast room a little cold in terms of decor but nothing detrimental. Didn't eat in the hotel apart from breakfast so cant comment on that.
Review 75:Location is excelent with helpful staff. We upgraded to a room with a balcony overlooking the pool which was lovely. The pool area is fantastic.
Review 76:Road noise if you are at the front of the hotel. Lack of air conditioning and no fans in the room. Lack of cohesive charging structure. We were given two different rates when we wanted to change rooms
Review 77:Really loved the setiing and the lunches. The rooms were lovely and spacious.
Review 78:This is a great hotel in a great location with great staff! We have been to this hotel on several occasions and intend to return again next year. Bagni de Lucca is a fabulous location and the people will make you feel very welcome
Review 79:Manager was very friendly and helpful. Nothing too much trouble. Pool area really lovely. Also lovely terrace. Room very pleasant with balcony and great view. Liked the fact breakfast included
Review 80:Could be quite noisy during the night from cars on the road. Some of the decor could do with being redone.
Review 81:Old-fashioned hotel. Very nice swimming pool and gardens. Free car parking. Walking distance from bars/restaurants. Owner was friendly.
Review 82:Howling Dog on opposite side of Road and general traffic noise - if we stayed again we would book one of the quieter rooms overlooking the gardens and pool at the rear of the Hotel.
Review 83:Location Swimming Pool Price
Review 84:The room was large, clean, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was excellent. The manager, Roberto, was very friendly and welcoming. Parking was free. This area is great for relaxation after visiting Rome etc.
Review 85:The Manager, Roberto Mariono Merlo, and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. We had dinner at their sister hotel Corona, a five course gourmet meal, for Euro 24.00 a head which was excellent value and heaven to eat. The weather in January was fresh and damp but the hotel was warm, cosy and welcoming. The beds were comfortable. Stay in the balcony rooms overlooking the river, the extra cost is well worth it, somewhere to relax and have a glass of wine even in winter. We would recommend this hotel.
Review 86:Very nice staff. The hotel owner Roberto has undergone a metamorphosis, is delectable. Certainly we come back to your wonderful town and the wonderful Regina. Thank you .
Review 87:From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty and given great support by the hotel staff. It was out of season but there was no complacency.
Review 88:We stayed for one night at this hotel and the stay was made enjoyable and functional by the friendly manner of the staff, the staff quite literally couldn't do enough for us to make us feel welcome and support our needs in a very open and accepting way.
Review 89:We had a room at the front of the hotel and as it was hot we had to sleep with the windows open so very loud at times. However, we accept the location of the hotel is in the centre of Bagn di Lucca so expected and was not a major issue for us. However, would pay extra for a garden view room.
Review 90:The hotel in general was very nice. The pool area was lovely and the staff were very welcoming and helpful at all times.
Review 91:It could do with air-con, but to be fair we knew it didn't have it when we booked so no real gripe.
Review 92:The hotel is a solid 3* in a very good location backing onto the river in the heart of Bagni Di Lucca. It has a lovely pool area. The staff are very friendly and work like Trojans. They always seem to have a smile on their faces. Bagni is a delightful little town with just a few reastaurants and bars and is an ideal location as a base for exploring the area. At the weekend they close the road off and the restaurants set their tables out in the roads. There was even a live band with a very good female singer playing popular music in the small piazza, so the whole town got some free weekend entertainment! Directly behind the hotel is the river path where it is thought the poet Robert Browning and his wife - the poet Elizabeth Barrett spent time and it's claimed inspired some of Elizabeth’s famlous love sonnets.
Review 93:They could do with a gardener who knows the basics, including knowingthat even geraniums need watering and deadheading from time to time andknowing not to plant bushes at11 am at 35 c in bone dry soil! The lowlevel background music on the terrace would have been better if it neverincluded Bing Crosby singing about a white Christmas in July and focusedon italian classics or Pink Floyd. Fresh orange juice at breakfast wouldmatch the natural environment. All in all it was a very good value for money for our 4 night stay.
Review 94:The hotel staff were delightfully helpful and friendly on each and everyoccasion , where we needed their advice or help over 4 days. The hotelhas a feel of faded glory ,which for us was one of its charms. The alfresco breakfast on the quiet terrace with the bird song all around wasa good way to start the day ,while the good size, but safe depth swimmingpool was an essential escape from the heat of mid summer. The hotel'sposition , neighbouring one of the finest, best value restaurants in theregion, is almost perfect though be sure to pay the extra for theriverside rooms away from the road. The lack of air conditioning was nota problem with the excellent shutters and we had no Mosquitos in ourroom! We are looking forward to returning in the future as it is hotelfor families and couples.
Review 95:Very expensive room rate for a 3 star hotel without air conditioning. The breakfast was also very basic and no fresh fruit was offered which Ifound disappointing. The rooms at the front of the hotel are very noisywith road traffic.
Review 96:Lovely friendly staff and superb swimming pool in a nice small typicalitalian countryside town by the River.
Review 97:Hotel room had windows opening over main road, traffic noise could be constantly being heard both during the day and night.
Review 98:Pool area - very nicely located, surrounded by green area and a river at the back. Hotel location was ideal to visit both Lucca and Barga.
Review 99:My bathroom was so poorly designed it was almost unusable. I only stayed one night, so it wasn't a big deal.
Review 100:Picturesque setting Extremely friendly staff - L. was terrific! Good food available in bistro & at breakfast
Review 101:No air con and nothing on the window to stop the flies coming in(E.G.mesh covering). Being by a river the place is heaving with fliesin the evening! Also it is further from the train station thanexpected so if arriving on public transport, take a bus as it dropsyou straight outside from Lucca rather than having to pay 10Euros fora cab from the station.
Review 102:Location was very beautiful and relaxing, staff were friendly and foodand drink was good. Nice swimming pool. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
Review 103:We have just enjoyed our third holiday at this wonderful Hotel. The four young staff were excellent, nothing was to much bother for them. The new addition of the Bistrot in the gardens is great, with great food on offer all day. The swimming pool is fabulous. The location with shops and restaurants is second to none, with a special mention to the restaurant across the road," Del Sonno". Owner Ilario and his staff will provide you with the best Tuscan food and great hospitality. Hope to return again next year!
Review 104:We thought this hotel was very overpriced. After we had booked andagreed to pay 99 euro for one night (in a small room, overlooking theroad with two tiny sachets of bath gel and not even any soap to washyour hands) the management emailed and suggested we upgrade and paybetween an extra 14 and 40 euro for a 'quiet' room with view or balcony.the staff however, were very very nice. this is not a complaint - it is a statement of fact.
Review 105:Clean spacious room serviced daily. Faced busy road but noise was never a problem to us. The hotel stay was excellent due mainly to the hotel staff who went out their way to be friendly and helpful. It was also great value for money. We would recommend this hotel to other travellers., Ernie and Heather Crawford
Review 106:Very quiet, situated by the river and quality of service by the staffexcellent. They could not have been more helpful. It would have beennice to have coffee making facilities in the room, but we thoroughlyliked the hotel and its ambience. For local facilities it could not bebetter situated with a large car park next to the gardens of the hoteland the shortest of walks to the village centre. Well worth choosing asthe hotel to visit the region and garfagnana as they have all the infoyou will require. We were to early for the pools to be open but theylooked inviting set high above the river. Great hotel and veryconfortable.
Review 107:I'd say this place is better if you have a car - we didn't and didn't really have any problems, but we were relying on taxis and buses to get to the train station (5k away) - it was no problem, and the taxi drivers were lovely and the locals helped us whenever we were stuck, but definitely handier if you have a car. The bus does stop just by the hotel though and it goes about twice an hour, so it's not a problem, just a consideration.
Review 108:We inadvertently booked here, thinking we were booking in Lucca - it was the best mistake we made! The scenery here is stunning. The people in Bagni di Lucca are so friendly and helpful. Gorgeous quiet villlage, with thermal spas, river walks, cafes - it's heaven. The man at the hotel reception, whose name I sadly don't know, is incredibly friendly and helpful. Great advice and suggestions. Lovely spread for breakfast - cold meats, cheeses, pastries, cereal, bread, juices, coffee - happiness! Beautiful hotel grounds, so relaxing. Right by the river, and a couple bar cafes and restaurants. Highly recommended, great spot!
Review 109:WiFi is missing. Nothing else.
Review 110:Very Good Hotel. Good Prices, Very Clean, Quality Rooms and very friendly stuff. Best Choice
Review 111:Very friendly proprietor and staff. Excellent buffet-style breakfast. Beautiful old building with character. Comfortable, spacious room.
Review 112:Right on road -would be noisy on that side
Review 113:Quiet on park side, lovely to hear river at night. Sweet staff. Good restaurant across street.
Review 114:Friendly staff exelent location
Review 115:Everything was perfect
Review 116:Beautiful, small ,friendly Tuscan hotel.
Review 117:Good value for money.
Review 118:Leaking shower
Review 119:The staff were friendly, helpful and responsive. The view from our balcony room. Convenient car parking.
Review 120:Nothing at all
Review 121:Beatiful location Friendly helpful staff Extensive breakfast Large comfortable room Very good value for money
Review 122:Swimming pool and out door area. Big spacious rooms.
