Reviews for Edom Hotel
Review 1:Bedrooms and very basic, the bathroom vary dated and not particularly clean. If you want to watch tv to relax, all channels are in arabic.. No bar in the hotel
Review 2:The location is good and about 100m from the entrance to Petra - which is why I came here. Breakfast was good.
Review 3:Only one elevator for guest rooms.Usually quite crowded. Also inconvenient layout of the elevator on the first floor with many levels of stairs.Difficult if you have suitcases.
Review 4:Location
Review 5:It seems much more comfortable in pictures. No frills hotel. No hot water at all. Restaurant in the hotel was not good.
Review 6:The local restaurants NEXT to hotel were delicious. Very close to Petra entrance.
Review 7:The hotel was freezing cold. Only after having our room heater unit on for 48 hours was it an ok temperature in the room - but still freezing in the halls, restaurant, and lobby. Even the hot water was busted upon arrival. If you go in winter, stay elsewhere. And I had to pay for wifi...
Review 8:The staff were helpful and friendly. Our first day's breakfast included exceptional coffee, but that went missing on day 2 and 3.
Review 9:everything else. breakfast was not good, hotel was old with poor finishing, staff was lazy, we had to ask them to make the room, very slow to serve food for dinner. my 3-year-old son did not eat breakfast and they did not allow me to take any food for him out of the dining room, I know that is the rule but for a kid other hotels are usually more understanding.
Review 10:location
Review 11:The breakfast is unique, we stuck with toast and jam/cheese. The buffet in the evening is quite expensive and lacks atmosphere.
Review 12:The day-time reception staff were very helpful and the welcome drink and fruit platter were wonderful. The in-house turkish bath and massage were value for money and certainly needed for after Petra! A wonderful stay.
Review 13:Nothing to tell, everything was just perfect!
Review 14:It was my first visit to Petra, and I was worried about not to get a good hotel there, I booked this hotel edom and it was beyond my expectations. Was so clean staff was so friendly and services was fast also, they told me about a roof top bbq i enjoyed that 2 so i recommend their roof top with that view on the holy mountains. Thank you edom for giving me a change to feel the real hospitality.
Review 15:Heating system useless and very noisy,
Review 16:Location and staff
Review 17:location, good size room
Review 18:The hotel did not serve beer - after wandering around Petra, a cold beer would have been great. Even this was not a major problem as there is a very good restaurant (the Zaman) about 300 yards away.
Review 19:This was very good value for money. A friend and I just needed a room to stay overnight to enable us to visit Petra. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the visitor centre - it was clean and the staff were very helpful and welcoming.
Review 20:Building is little old but good value for money
Review 21:Staff is extremely helpful and nice, I forgot one of my cellphone at the room, they reached me and let me know.
Review 22:Shower not clean.
Review 23:Amazing location right at Petra gate. Great price. Would stay here again to visit the spectacular city of Petra. Staff was very good. Arranged transport to airport for us.
Review 24:They don't take master card only visa and cash
Review 25:The staff, particularly at the reception desk wasvthe best. We arrived early because of the bus schedule, and they accommodated an early checkin aithout additional charge. They graciously helped us arrange transpkrtaion and tours that met our needs. Really exceptional!
Review 26:The immediate neighbourhood is not conducive to good first impression and booking should indicate the hotel is undergoing renovations and updates so guests not surprised on arrival.
Review 27:The hotel is within walking distance of Petra entrance and visitor centre. The staff in both hotel and dining room were willing and always ready to assist in any way possible. The dining was excellant. It was a pleasant experience.
Review 28:The room description given on the website was not accurate(no flat screen TV, a questionable memory foam mattress and questionable free wifi access) and when I questioned this I was then taken to the room in the photo which had the first two items listed. The cleanliness of the room was poor despite our requests to have the room hoovered. The socket was not secure, the room finish was not good with paint marks on the carpet and some furniture that had previously been damaged(main unit and one of the chairs). The carpet was in pieces near the bathroom and wear and tear was evident. It's a shame as the other areas of the hotel were of a good standard and it is a hotel with potential. The beds in the second room were better.
Review 29:The staff were very helpful especially when we had a problem with our car. They were quick to change our room. The restaurant manager was very accomodating and welcoming. The location was brilliant. The standard of cleanliness and decor of the main areas was good.
Review 30:Really friendly and helpful staff. Perfect location to explore Petra, very relieved that it was only a short walk to hotel after walking around the sights all day.
Review 31:Nothing major. The shower head leaked a bit. There were a few stairs before the elevator - inconvenient for older people (one of us was 78) and luggage.
Review 32:The hotel is 2 minutes walk from the entrance to Petra's park. Right below, on the street, there are restaurants, a money exchange place and a small kiosk. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The room was clean, and we had 4 separate beds, which was very convenient for us.
Review 33:The location is fabulous. The value is excellent. Staff were very helpful, not least in allowing us to stay for a late check-out, 3.00pm, with no extra charge.
Review 34:- The reception made a terrible mistake by given another customer our room number, while we are sitting in our room. Hence suddenly this customer came in our room. - My cardkey was blocked so I was not able to enter my room afterwards. - The staff was not able to speak very well English.
Review 35:- Close to the entrance of Petra. - The hotel has its own parking lot.
Review 36:The breakfast did not have regular coffee (though this is really just a first world problem).
Review 37:The staff was very attentive and efficient. The location is superb.
Review 38:Big part of the rooms at our floor were under renovation and looked abandoned. Shower
Review 39:Just meters from the Petra entrance, safe parking for our rent-a-car. Pleasant staff, very nice dinner-buffet option for just 9 JOD- I recomend it!
Review 40:While trying to arrange onward transport, the staff were unsure of how to get to Aqaba resulting in us nearly ending up back in Israel!!! But otherwise no complaints at all, thank you!!
Review 41:The hotel location was fabulous just a minutes walk from the entrance to Petra. The room was of an excellent quality and the reception and dining areas were also presented to a high standard. There was a good choice of food at breakfast and the staff were all happy to help where possible.
Review 42:My room was newly renovated and very clean. It had a little balcony with nice views of the mountains. The location is very close to the Petra visitor center and there are some restaurants and shops nearby.
Review 43:The check-in was delayed, the room was gross (definitely not 3 stars: musty carpets, terrible shower, horrid decor, view of dirt piles), and the breakfast was so-so.
Review 44:The location was great, almost right beside the entrance to the Petra site.
Review 45:No kettle in the room. We had no water for about 2 hours one afternoon. I think Petra is over rated, Very expensive and VERY dirty.
Review 46:Overall the hotel was not bad. Food was good as well. Near to Petra.
Review 47:No bath-plugs. Understand the need to preserve water, but feel safer giving the baby a bath, than holding a soapy baby in the shower.
Review 48:Location adjacent to ticket office for Petra. Buffet discounted for those staying at the hotel, and free for children under 15.
Review 49:It seems that this hotel has seen better days and has just had a very basic make-over recently. Looking at it in more detail things just seem to be patched up everywhere. The room, especially the bathroom was not too clean.
Review 50:Very good location just a few meters away from the main entrance to Petra's archeological site. Good value for money in this location.
Review 51:Could not get the TV to work, and even after we asked the staff , only one station, in Arabic, not much help to us. Breakfast , the waiters cleared the tables TOOOOO quickly. Went to get something to have with my coffee, came back and coffee was gone !
Review 52:Excellent location and clean. Not much going on in the hotel.
Review 53:Just one blanket for double room. Pillows are too small.
Review 54:Just near Petra entrance. Breakfast and dinner are good. Fre wi-fi. Employees are very friendly and obliging.
Review 55:Breakfast was bad. The lift to our room need to be accessed through 3 different stairs. But the staff was very helpfull to bring our luggages.
Review 56:Nice staff, clean
Review 57:The breakfast room is very dull and the breakfast itself could be better.
Review 58:The location is very good. It is walking distance from Petra ticket office. The staff at the reception was friendly. The room was average. Ample parking space.
Review 59:Slightly unclean bathroom but no big deal!
Review 60:The proximity of the hotel to the entrance to Petra was amazing, and it was also just round the corner from all the shops and restaurants.
Review 61:The breakfast is not very good in terms of variety and it is not whateuropeans or americans would expect. They didn't allow us to enterthe room half an hour before the entry time (14h) so they kept uswaiting. It is a little bit old and we had some problems with the wcbut, well, it was pretty cheap so I guess we got what we paid for!
Review 62:The location is good to spend the day in Petra and get to the hotel safeand sound without needing a taxi up the hill. We tried the spa, 20 jodeach and it was correct, cheaper than other in the street, but don'texpect too much. They also bought us the tickets for Petra by night sowe didn't have to worry about it.
Review 63:Location is just 200 M. from Petra entrance, staff is very friendly, cleanness, nice hotel decor with pictures of Petra, convenient beds, good Turkish bath.
Review 64:Nothing at all.
Review 65:The comfort of the room and the bed. The friendly and helpful staff atthe front desk. We were offered a late check-out free of charge toaccommodate our travel schedule.
Review 66:Hotel moderne, tres propre, facile d'acces (l'entre du parc de Petra est a 200 metres). Personnel accueillant. Tres bon rapport qualite-prix. Restaurant-buffet sur place a un prix tres competitif. Je recommande !
Review 67:It was very dirty. The food was bad and the "spa" they pushedat check in turned out to be closed. Not impressive. Everything smelledof cigarette smoke.
Review 68:The only thing I liked was the cost and how close it is to theentrance of Petra.
Review 69:Not enough english tv.
Review 70:Very friendly. Great location, near entrance to Petra. Food in dining room was excellent. Staff very courteous and helpful though could be more knowledgeable.
Review 71:The hotel is very worn and the breakfast is very limited. Other Petra hotels near this price range provide more.
Review 72:Great location near the entrance to Petra.
Review 73:Bed sheets did not fit the bed, towels old, sliding glass door did notfit. No bedside lamps, phone did not work all the time.Mattress old andsagged, bed creaked.Leaked when rained onto bed.One pan one electric ringno kettle coffee maker or toaster.Very noisy.Limited parking.
Review 74:Coffee shop next door. One of the staff Allan helpful.
Review 75:We had a problem with the taxi driver who brought us from the borderwith Israel to the hotel. Actually we thought that he was part of thehotel`s staff, but he wasn`T. It wouldn`t be a problem if my contact inthe hotel had told me that in the e-mail that I sent to him to negociatethe price of the transportation. In this e-mail, I wrote that I wouldpay everything (transfer + rooms) with my credit card, but when wearrived at the hotel, the taxi driver said that we had to pay to him(not to the hotel) and in cash.Other problem we had was with the heating sistem of my room. It took more than a hour to heat the water of my shower!!!
Review 76:The staff was very helpful and the hotel is very well located.
Review 77:Internet was poor. Wireless did not reach to our rooms and the service offered in the lobby was slow and ponderous. I think for most people it would be fine, but my husband requires internet to work as we travel. I'm not sure that "better" quality internet is available, so, if that is one of your requirements, I would suggest further research in the area to see if better quality internet can be had before booking.
Review 78:Excellent location, very close and easy walking to Petra and the local restaurants. Breakfast as good. The rooms are not luxurious, but they are clean with reasonable space. Given the cost of the hotel and hotels in the general area, I would say this hotel is a good value for the money.
Review 79:The description we received from the room on booking.com was that theroom had a balcony and great views towards Wadi Musa or the desert. Ourroom had no balcony and had a view towards a courtyard full of garbagefrom a building site. We stayed only for one night so that we did notcomplain about this. Probably none of the other rooms, including thosewith the balcony, had a better view mostly because the surroundings arenot really spectacular. We did not look for a room with a view but if itwas advertised as such one expected it as such. The second thing we didnot like was the evening open buffet service - we booked it as it seemedcheap (9 jod per person) and we did not have many great restaurantoptions around. The buffet does not include any drink (not even water)and the liquids (we had 2 waters and 2 teas) were overpriced. They alsotried to cheat us over the final price of the food but when we arguedthey reduced it. Take care, the room price announced on the site doesnot include 10% tax and 7% city tax. The rooms are basic, with outdatedfurniture and low pressure for the water in the shower but for one nightwas ok. Overall, it was a pricey experience compared to the services itoffered. The only really good thing was the location. Take care, although they say they receive Visa and Mastercard, they don'taccept Mastercard (only Visa). They also have an exchange office in thereception but the rate is not good. You may find an atm in the Movenpickhotel nearby (expect x-ray security check to enter it).
Review 80:It is very close from the entrance to Petra and the staff speaks goodEnglish (although they are very slow in reacting to waiting customers, even when there is no one else around at the reception desk).
Review 81:I arrived late & the reception was packed. But I was received warmly &all the information was patiently provided with smile & excellentEnglish. Located 5 min from Petra entrance & next to Movenpick Hotel.Plenty of restaurants, Western Union exchange & sundry shops formiscellaneous supplies, 2 to 3 Turkish baths just along the street. Roomwas comfortable. Heating was very warm (temp in the low digits when Iwas there late Dec) & ample hot water. Will definitely stay here againon next trip to Petra.
Review 82:The staff were very nice, friendly and helpful
Review 83:service staff is untrained, room was not clean, furniture broken, shower and towels pittyful
