Reviews for Locanda Sant'Andrea Hotel & Relais

Review 1:The shower is so tiny you have to turn sideways to get in but it's a small complaint. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed when we were there.

Review 2:Lovely little village and the hotel is within walking distance of everything. Small, stylish hotel with very nice, simple, traditional décor. Lovely flowery garden with great views of the mountains and a small pool which we had to ourselves most of the time. Veronica on reception was so helpful and friendly.

Review 3:Recognising that this is a 3 star and a good price - maybe breakfast could have been a bit broader. I'm not really a swimmer, but just be aware the pool is v small. Couldn't get Wifi in the rooms...not a big deal but had to go to reception to 'log in'

Review 4:Very comfortable room/bed. We followed a tip to ask for a room at the back to avoid any traffic noise and avoided the cheapest double rooms which I read were small. Staff very helpful and welcoming, great value for money

Review 5:My only disappointment was that the restaurant was closed, the reviews for which had inspired me to make the booking in the first instance.......I will look forward to returning when it is open!

Review 6:A lovely hotel with some stunning artwork on the walls made by the owner.....plus other sculptures which were beautiful too. We had a very nice room with a balcony overlooking the mountains. The bed was very comfortable and the shower/bathroom facility perfectly adequate. The staff were fantastic, so helpful with everything from recommending places to visit to advice on the best places to eat in the area. Breakfast was very nice with some gorgeous fresh ricotta and delicious cakes, and good strong coffee! Loved the village as a whole, nice market on Thursday morning and a great Pizzeria up the road.

Review 7:Fantastic artistic family running the hotel. Truly pleasant and charming people, we already miss them. Very beautiful rooms. Perfect stay for couples.

Review 8:When we arrived we have been informed that we got an upgrade but it turned out that our room was really dark, the toilet lid needed fixing and the air conditioner was dripping. We informed the reception of this issues and over the next 2 days they managed to solve them which meant we spent 3 nights with a dripping air conditioner. This also means that while we were not there, different people were in our bedroom (with no supervision from the hotel staff) and on our 3rd night I have realized that a new top that I have bought for the trip was missing. Having advised this to reception, they profusely apologized but couldn't do nothing about it. Moreover, the breakfast was quite basic, without options of fresh fruit (other than apples), no fresh juices, almost no options of cold meats and cheeses and the ones available were surrounded by flies.

Review 9:San Pantaleo is a lovely small town, with a few nice restaurants and bars and in a perfect location to explore Costa Esmeralda. The hotel Staff was really nice, advising us of the best beaches to visit and helping us booking a fantastic boat trip. We had dinner at the hotel's restaurant and it was also really nice.

Review 10:Wi-fi usually worked but not always. There wasn't always hot water to shower.

Review 11:Lovely pool, very clean and towels and linen changed frequently. Fresh juice, fruit and cakes at breakfast!

Review 12:The staff at this hotel were lovely. They were obliging and helpful and spent some time sorting out a boat trip for us and looking into the best way for us to travel on to our next stop. We were genuinely sorry to say "Good by" by the end of our stay. The hotel itself is set around a central courtyard with quiet swimming pool. It has an excellent restaurant and a pleasant breakfast area overlooking the pool. The breakfasts were the best we had in Sardinia with some excellent cakes. We loved the location - a small mountain village which comes alive at night with a number of small bars and restaurants to choose from. San Pantaleo has an excellent market on Thursdays with numerous stalls selling quality clothing, jewelry etc. We also recommend hiring a sailing boat for the day. We chose "Arathena" crewed by a lovely couple, Sean and Lucia. They made it a very special day for us. Thank you, Simona and the rest of the staff (sorry we didn't find out the name of the lovely receptionist who was so helpful) for making our stay such a great experience.

Review 13:Breakfast was boring not a croissant in sight plenty of cake, if you like cake. Door to bedroom could not open properly and toilet lid needed attention. Access to car park was terrible.

Review 14:The restaurant was closed. The walls a little thin. Unfortunately the receptionist wasn't very informed to answer a lot of our questions about the area. I did think the price of the Hotel was overpriced in comparison to other places we have stayed.

Review 15:Easy to find, lovely view, parking and wifi in your room. The staff were an absolute delight.

Review 16:excellent value for the money, stuff goes the extra mile! very nice rooms and decor through out the hotel. private parking. nice breakfast with tables outside even in May. perfect

Review 17:€30 set dinner was beautiful but found it to be too much food. Would suggest giving an option of a two course menu for less money.

Review 18:Beds extremely comfortable. Food excellent. Owner and staff were extremely helpful with any queries. Didn't use the swimming pool but it looked nice.

Review 19:The wifi wasn't always easy to log into.

Review 20:The staff at this hotel were exceptional. They were welcoming and friendly and have us good advice Bout touring the area. We ate in their restaurant and two nights and the food was superb. It was also reasonably priced. We walked into the village most night for a pre-dinner drink. It seemed a typical Sardinian village but was still close to beaches. But you need a car to really explore the area.

Review 21:Our bathroom was a little cramped.

Review 22:The people were, without exception, warm and friendly. The food was excellent. We had the 'flying buffet' of starters twice during our stay and the dishes were not only delicious, but all different. Since my husband is vegetarian, this meant a total of 22 different recipes. The breakfasts were stellar too. We've put on pounds!

Review 23:not one single thing

Review 24:This hotel is an oasis in Sardinia. From the arrival till good-bye you will be treated as a unique person, with the hospitality you would otherwise only enjoy from a very close friend. The hotel is beautifully decorated throughout. The meals are exceptionally tasty. Everything is perfectly maintained and the staff will not refrain from any effort to fullfill personal wished.

Review 25:Nothing.

Review 26:Everything was perfect! The room is small but very comfortable, beautiful and very clean. The location is great, just steps from the gorgeous little village center of San Pantaleo. The breakfast is very good. You have to have dinner at the locanda's restaurant! It is just perfect! Last but not least, the staff is amazingly friendly especially the director, Mr Martino. Thanks to him and his staff, we had one of our most greatest stay! You have to stay at la Locanda Sant'Andrea!

Review 27:Do not order anything off menu - we got charged 62 euro for a small salad and some anti-pasta for lunch; as my daughter was paying, she complained and we got a 10 euro discount. This was very off putting jon our checkin. Our bedroom faced towards the pool and was very hot during the day and also at night (AC worked so that was good). Bed was very uncomfortable; sagging. As were the pillows. Bathroom shocking - dirty shower curtain; very small shower and bathroom; water everywhere when you shower. Black grout; Bathroom window could not open easily as it hit the tap. Better hotels in the town.

Review 28:Entrance lobby nice. Common areas okay. Pool okay but not super wifi okay Reception staff helpful.

Review 29:The staff were very friendly, the facilities were amazing as the hotel is small and cosy. The restaurant was incredible!

Review 30:Helpful, smiling, easy with car, excellent restaurant, lovely pool, swimming below bougainvilleas and butterflies

Review 31:The dinner in the hotel restaurant is superb

Review 32:Lovely small hotel with a good sized pool and a welcoming atmosphere. Great breakfasts with delicious cakes!

Review 33:Room next to reception, so a bit noisy occasionally

Review 34:Breakfasts, very helpful receptionist, complimentary beach towels and umbrella, good room rate

Review 35:The car park needs attention!

Review 36:We liked the old fashioned customer service and very high standards. The manager and his wife were charming and the staff were excellent.

Review 37:Nice interior, swimming pool. 15km to Costa Smeralda. Good restaurant and breakfast. For perfect seafood pizza go to restaurant 200m down the streat(white small building)

Review 38:Our bed was too hard

Review 39:Beautiful location. The hotel was charming and very clean and we enjoyed relaxing by the pool. The breakfast was fabulous with home cakes and local bread every morning. We had a fabulous dinner at the restaurant and the cost was quite reasonable.

Review 40:The only thing I didn't like was that I didn't stay there for longer!

Review 41:Everything was lovely. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the hotel is nicely laid out and spotless, the pool and surrounding area was beautiful, the breakfast was great, and the town itself just charming.

Review 42:The antipasti were so abundant that we couldn't take advantage of the rest of the delicious-looking menu (a niggling complaint, I know)!!

Review 43:We ate at the hotel restaurant, where the antipasti were phenomenal in quality and originality, and abundant--the owner was very proud of them, and clearly explained what everything was. He also provided us clear advice on hiking for the next day--we strongly recommend hiking up some of the mountains that surround San Pantaleo.

Review 44:Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. A great location in the mountains, not far from fabulous beaches. Clean, comfortable hotel - with very good restaurant and breakfast We came with a young family and were made to feel very welcome - staff couldn't do enough to help

Review 45:Great hospitality from all staff, very very good food, staff also bent over backwards for one of the party who can't eat gluten. Felt like a small boutique hotel.

Review 46:Nothing to dislike

Review 47:Marco and Simona who run the hotel are very friendly and offer sound advice. All the staff were also very good. Hotel is in a lovely location in the mountains in a very pretty village.

Review 48:perfrct place

Review 49:this hotel is owned by a very nice man - Mario who shows a special intrest in the guests. the rooms are cosy and well decorated. the breakfast is fresh and the variety includes much more than the traditional breakfast in sardinia. the hotel has also a very good dinner option we only stayed one night because we had to fly back home but we where also given a late checkout free of charge. officially this is a 3 star hotel but could easaly be a 4 star hotel

Review 50:Rooms were small, wifi didn't work in the room. Only 2 rooms with terrace, both full.

Review 51:Owners were personable, relaxed, friendly. Location was in a great but tiny town, but centrally located to many of the places we wanted to go. Pool was nice and restaurant excellent

Review 52:very noisy in the morning. In the village are two very nice restaurants apart from that there is nothing. Person who are looking for relaxing its fine.

Review 53:nice personal and nice breakfast!

Review 54:Everything. Mario and Simona run a lovely property. It's very sweet and decorated with her art. The small colorful courtyard has flowers galore, a pool and plenty of comfortable seating, perfect for a day after the glorious nearby beaches. Breakfast is served on a tiny terrace overlooking the pool with a beautiful view. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, a little different each day. We took a cool hike on a trail down the street. that took us into the nearby cliffs. Dinner is expertly prepared. We saw the salt crusted fish and thought we should have ordered that! Our favorite activity was having an apertivo at Cafe Nina on a lovely austere piazza edged with flowering trees facing the church. This is a very special town, typical Italian but easy to maneuver and not touristy. We are so glad we squeezed this stop into our itinerary. The Costa Smerelda is not to be missed. Strikingly awesome views. Thank you Mario and Simona for making our stay so delightful.

Review 55:Absolutely nothing!!!

Review 56:Everything!!! All staffs were very friendly and well knowelges. Therestourant was excellent/parfect! Especially, the bread forbreakfast were so so so beautiful! I never had such a dilicious bread inItaly. This was best bread ever in my life! If we have a chance to comeback to Saldinia, we absolutely choose this hotel again! Highlyrecommend!!

Review 57:The only complaints I have about this hotel are the rather hard uncomfortable beds and the internal noise reverberating around the building especially late at night and early morning e.g. doors shutting and people talking loudly.

Review 58:I liked the general ambience of this hotel; very relaxed and friendly environment. The owners are charming and genuinely interested in their clients. The hotel restaurant is delightful. You can eat delicious authentic Sardinian food here although at a price. The wine menu is excellent and the restaurant manager will recommend a suitable accompaniment to the meal choice. My long-lasting memory of this hotel is the beautiful fragrant flowers growing all around the buildings: bougainvillea and jasmine.

Review 59:Nothing

Review 60:Loved the location in the village but still quiet and peaceful. The garden round the pool was delightful and it was wonderful to relax there in the afternoons. Food was excellent. Mario and all the staff deserve particular praise, friendly helpful and efficient. We were made very welcome and cossetted throughout our stay.

Review 61:nothing really. Wifi reach was limited, but as our room was near the pool, that did not affect us at all.

Review 62:We spent 6 days in San Pantaleo and Costa Smeralda and found San Pantaleo and Locanda Sant'Andrea Hotel & Relais the perfect base. It is not on the coast, but the town square is vibrant (at night) and is about equal distance to all coasts (less than 10' to the nearest beach). An attractive hotel, fine restaurant, excellent room, extremely friendly staff - they really went above and beyond for us! - we will be back next time we visit this piece of Sardinia.

Review 63:Wi-fi only in reception area!

Review 64:Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable/clean bedrooms Good location for local facilities Gourmet restaurant. Picturesque village location

Review 65:It'd be great if wifi coverage was extended to all the rooms.

Review 66:Our stay here could not have been better, Mr Mario takes great personal care of every guest and the attention to detail by the whole staff was remarkable. I recommend have dinner at least once in the hotel restaurant and try their wines.

Review 67:Wifi sometimes very slow in the reception area and not available in room.

Review 68:Wonderful hosts, very welcoming, great comprehensive breakfast including beautiful homemade cakes. Attractive decor and the location in San Pantaleo is perfect. Lovely village with great food and interesting shops in vicinity of the piazza. Great location to explore the beaches and hinterland and away from the tourist madness. Parking available. Would love to come back again.

Review 69:Bed was comfortable but pillows were a bit hard for us.

Review 70:Very friendly and helpful owners, able to speak range of languages. Very attractive decor and colour schemes used throughout hotel. The style and colours of the abstract paintings particularly appealed to us. The restaurant is very attractive and has stunning views over the mountains. Very good food. Pretty breakfast area overlooking lovely swimming pool. Private car park was appreciated.

Review 71:Nothing to dislike....seriously!

Review 72:Absolutely everything is to like at Hotel Sant'Andrea from the charming and helpful hosts to the warm and friendly staff who offer clean and comfortable accommodation within a very pleasantly designed environment. The breakfast is fresh and extensive served on a sunny terrace above the pool surrounded by flowering foliage. The restaurant is open of an evening and serves food of gourmand quality at a very reasonable price. All of this and only a few kilometres from Spiaggio Rena Bianca, a wide bay and beach with crystal clear water. And of course this is Italy so there is a piccolo cafe on the beach for light meals and coffee. The town of San Pantaleo is small and pretty surrounded by magnificent white mountains that can be viewed from all parts of the town and from your bedroom at the wonderful Sant'Andrea.

Review 73:The hotel has a beautiful restaurant but was not available late September. Bar snacks of quality but very pricey.

Review 74:A beautiful pool area surrounded in fauna one of the most pretty poolside areas i have seen. the breakfast was very good served on the restaurant balcony surrounded by flowers with wonderful views to the mountain peaks. this was the best choice of hotel in the area which i highly recommend for a short visit to when in Sardinia. lovely village square where on a Thursday a fantastic market with quality clothes, fabrics, jewellery are excellent not to be missed. bus stops on way south to Olbia or north to Palau (sailing on the Archeaplego}. A selection of artisan shops and excellent wine shop in this small but beautiful hilltop village.

Review 75:Not a thing to dislike, will definitely recommend it and will go back there it was a delight.

Review 76:We liked the quiet courtesy and warmth of all the staff, the ambience, architecture and the interior design of the whole place. It is effectively a charming 'Boutique' Hotel, small and personable in a delightful arty village. It's location is just perfect to see everything the Costa Smerelda has to offer. It's about an 8 minute drive to wonderful secluded sandy beaches where the water is crystal clear and turquoise blue. Just 10 minutes from Porto Cervo or Porto Rotondo for the glitz or dinner. We preferred however to eat in the wonderful hotel restaurant - excellent cuisine, or, the local restaurants in San Panteleo where all the local community gathered in the evenings.

Review 77:Refused to provide early breakfast for flight departure - requested 7.30 am when breakfast started at 8.00 am but this was refused.

Review 78:Very helpful staff and nice linked rooms - triples room.

Review 79:We were very happy with the hotel. First of all, the staff is extremely nice and polite, willing to explain things to you and make you feel relaxed; the location is also good. only a quick drive away to major attractions along the costa smeralda. We ran into the owners as well and it shows that they run their hotel with a lot of enthusiasm and dedication; we really enjoyed the breakfast too; the pastries were amazing! We will definitely go back one day!

Review 80:Hotel Sant'Andrea is in the perfect location for visiting the wonderfulbeaches, and villages of the northern coast and the area around Olbia. Its position in the middle of San Pantaleo is excellent with a wideselection of restaurants, cafes and shops and a beautiful villagesquare. Despite arriving at the hotel very late, as we queued for morethan an hour to collect our hire car, we were still able to order a mealand start to relax. The breakfast terrace and pool area are beautifulwith comfortable loungers and shaded seating. We cannot praise the staffhighly enough. They were so helpful and friendly and always had the timeto answer our questions and search for information about the local area. Our day started with a smiling welcome at breakfast and continued with afeeling of total relaxation and calmness. We had a wonderful two weeksand would love to return.

Review 81:Very friendly staff, lovelly place and good price. The swimming pool andthe breakfast are great. Nice and charming I would repeat. The villageis tiny but nice and worth too see it.

Review 82:From the moment we arrived, we experienced immediate warmth from reception and during our stay the excellent staff and hotel management team couldn't do enough for us. This hotel is a real gem set in a beautiful village, with access to great amenities. The hotel was extremely clean with great attention to detail. Breakfast was lovley; we also ate dinner in the restaurant twice and can highly recommend! Will definitely return! Lisa and Mike

Review 83:The rooms were smallish ,when compared to the Borgo, but quiteacceptable. If you needed more space for a quiet read their some superbsofas in a corner of the pool area.

Review 84:We selected the Sant`Andrea when are normal choice (Borgo Anticca wassuddenly closed. The hotel was a 3*( Compared to a 4*) but we were verypleasantly surprised by some of its features. The front desk, lobbystairwells/corridors etc were beautifully designed & the pool areaoutstanding with a superb display of flowers. The breakfast buffet shouldsatisfy anyone. All the staff were friendly & helpful & when leaving(after only 6 nights stay) we felt that they had become real friends.

Review 85:We just had one night at the Sant'Andrea, but that was wonderful. Our family room (two big rooms, really) was spacious and really nice. The kids loved the courtyard pool. The owners of the hotel really went out of their way to make us feel comfortable. My husband wanted to watch two games of the football Euro championship that night, so the owner booked us a table in a really great pizza place just round the corner in between the two games, and when Germany played and the signal of the TV set went down (huge crisis!), they came immediately and tried to sort it out for us. Lovely people, and lovely white beach just ten minutes down the road!

Review 86:Swimming pool a little cold, but still very enjoyable!

Review 87:Staff exceptionally helpful. A clean very comfortable hotel in a verygood location. Restaurant serves excellent food and wine. Nothing wastoo much trouble for any of the staff. Clean towels every day. Changeof sheets.

Review 101:Great pool, nice breakfast and beautiful setting

Review 102:Internet WiFi is limited to the reception area.

Review 103:Very friendly staff; excellent breakfasts and great location. Attention to detail.
