Reviews for B&B Medieval House
Review 1:Parking was not exactly close by during the day, but you could park in the street overnight.
Review 2:Very nice apartment. Good food for breakfast Very well located to explore Viterbo. Matteo was an excellent host.
Review 3:We had some difficulty in finding the place. Although breakfast was pleantiful, because Matteo served at the table things arrive a little at a time. Maybe a buffet would be a better idea.
Review 4:Matteo is very kind and helpful. For breakfast he served a variety of sweet and savoury food. The structure is inside the medieval part of the town but near enough to Porta San Pietro where there is free parking.
Review 5:Absolutely nothing!
Review 6:I was very pleasantly surprised by both Viterbo and this B&B ... both are very lovely. I was passing through, and only stayed one night unfortunately. Hopefully I will be back next year (with my family), and we will definitely be staying here!
Review 7:It was hard to find the location, as our gps (from another continent) could not pick up the coordinates and address. We had to leave early and therefore missed the entire highly-rated breakfast.
Review 8:Lots of atmosphere, very nice communal area with facilities for making tea etc.
Review 9:It looks like fake but i like everything
Review 10:I highly recommend this b&b, really. It was very cozy and comfortable. The owners, Matteo and his "ragazza" were really nice and they usually do the breakfast and its pretty nice! Such as croissants, juice, ham.. I spent 3 nights in one apartment. Medieval design and good quality of the house materials, really it was very nice. The weather was hot and they give us a big ventilator!! The only "problem" is that they dont have 24h reception so they give you a big keys. Thank you for everything Matteo
Review 11:Matteo was a most friendly considerate host. The location in the heart of the old medieval city was perfect. Home made cured meats from his family's factory accompanied a delicious heart breakfast. We would highly recommend.
Review 12:The B&B was right in the heart of the old town in a historic but renovated building with lots of character. Our host Matteo was very helpful, carrying our bags up the stairs, helping us to find good restaurants and things to see. The breakfast was fantastic, featuring the delightful small goods made in his family's business, of which he was justly proud.
Review 13:Parking is only thing that wasn't perfect. Although free, it was a 5-10 minute walk and any driving to pick up passengers or bags was through some very narrow and twisting streets. Guests should be ready to view parking as an adventure in a medieval walled city and enjoy the experience.
Review 14:Location within ancient walled city offered walking access to interesting sites, great restaurants and good shopping. Owner Mateo Negro outstanding as a host and most helpful about local walking tours and nearby driving trips. Breakfast excellent. Among the best B&Bs over decades of travels.
Review 15:This is a modern B&B in an old building in the medieval part of Viterbo. Access is through narrow cobblestone streets but was no problem on bikes (except for the rough road surface). Our host was very friendly and helpful and the room was spacious and comfortable. I would be very happy to recommend this accommodation.
Review 16:Driving to it and parking are tricky.
Review 17:Beautiful old architecture lovingly and artistically restored and modernized. Fantastic location for exploring this medieval walled city.
Review 18:We stayed in the medieval tower, top floor, fabulous views over Viterbo. One of our favourite places on our 1,500 mile bike trip of Italy. Matteo was a wonderful host with so much fascinating knowledge to share.Breakfast was great. We loved this place, a real part of living history.
Review 19:Very small bathroom. No air conditioning in our room (though from reviews there may be other rooms that are air conditioned - it's worth asking).
Review 20:Excellent quiet location near the city but far enough away to be peaceful. Extremely friendly and helpful host. Breakfast with local produce, including meats from the family firm. Nice and clean.
Review 21:The room was perfect for me, tho the ceiling was slanted, like an attic, so if you are tall or cannot manage stairs, maybe best to make this clear when you book-there are several other rooms but I wanted the wonderful view. The was nothing I didn't like-thank you Matteo, Noami and Mama for a wonderful stay!
Review 22:I chose this B&B because it was an easy walk to Porta Romana station and also Europcar where I'd rented a car, so it was a delight to find this gem of a place close to the edge of the Centro Storico, easy access to all the sights but also a short walk to supermarket and pharmacy. matteo was incredibly helpful and kind. The whole place was stylish and charming and excellent value-wifi was reliable and fast(just installed I think) breakfast generous, flowers everywhere and Matteo very knowledgable about the history of Viterbo and what to see. My room was in the annexe opposite the main B&B and had a wonderful view of the town rooves and towers across to the hills. Lots of stairs but Matteo carried up my luggage-
Review 23:We were only in Viterbo overnight as a break from Tuscany as we had been wanting to explore this city for many years and looked for somewhere within the city walls. B&B Medieval had the best commentaries and they also promised a room with a view if we didn't mind stairs. It quite lived up to its reputation and the room at the top (despite the stairs!) was spectacular. As an added bonus, we got to enjoy some excellent salami at breakfast as the person running the B&B has family in the business!
Review 24:There was nothing not to like
Review 25:Nothing was too much trouble for Matteo the owner Well appointed reception and breakfast area decorated in flamboyant style Preserved walls of the original building with niches galore Comfortable beds in clean rooms with state of the art bathrooms Excellent breakfast with good coffee
Review 26:Nothing!
Review 27:We loved our stay in Viterbo. Mateo was an enthusiastic host who immediately made us feel at home. The accomodations were in a lovingly restored stone house which was conveniently located. We loved wandering the narrow cobbled streets. It's just a magical place!
Review 28:Nothing.
Review 29:This B&B is located in the medieval town centre in a fabulous, authentic building. The decor inside is sensitive to the era but modern and very attractive. The host is charming and helpful. It was one of our favourite B&Bs on our trip. There is even free parking not too far away.
Review 30:Such a minor thing, but it seems to be common in several B&Bs. When you are showering it would be nice to have a rack or shelf to put your soap or shampoo on so you don't have to use the shower floor.....like I said minor inconvenience.
Review 31:The host, Matteo, and the location and facility were great for a short visit to a not so much travelled city. The food was in plenty supply and we felt well taken care of.
Review 32:A perfect spot for an overnight stay, the guy who runs it couldn't have been more helpful. Beautifully renovated house and great breakfast.
Review 33:Conveniently located in an awesome medieval city
Review 34:Lack of sitting room or seat outside
Review 35:Matteo very welcoming and helpful
Review 36:Minor parking problems nearby.
Review 37:Standard of rooms, very close to city centre and welcoming and informed hosts and fantastic breakfast.
Review 38:Great location Lovely room Good service
Review 39:great personal and friendly service, info on Vitterbo and lovely breakfast
Review 40:Great value! Wonderful host. Delicious breakfast. All in the heart of town.
Review 41:Nothing!!
Review 42:We liked everything!! Do not hesitate.. book this wonderful B/B... !!!
Review 43:We loved the restaurant in this B&B. It's downstairs and it's absolutely amazing.
Review 44:Fantastic breakfast, perfect location and highly professional staff; superior recommendation for a local Trattoria. Our kind, concerned host was patient and helpful when I needed a pharmacy. This is a classy stay within an ancient city - a comfortable, 'gem'.
Review 45:-Very friendly owner of the house who gave excellent tips for dinner locations. -Great breakfast including a lot of tasty local hams (salisiccia / prociutto crudo). -Stay itself was great in the recently very well renovated old house.
Review 46:Wifi in common area, not rooms. Finding place with GPS was DIFFICULT. Owners aware of this as google maps actually has the street address listed incorrectly. They are trying, with Viterbo council, to have this corrected. Best to contact owners directly and ask for precise directions as this was the only thing that got us there in the end! Very trying to our patience, but worth it in the end as we had a lovely overnight stay.
Review 47:Rooms beautifully decorated with large modern bathrooms (we had 2 rooms). Breakfast is wonderful and freshly made for you. Location was on edge of really old part of Viterbo which was lovely.
Review 48:Very nice B&B in the heart of Viterbo. The owner was very helpful and gave answer to our questions and also suggested places to have dinner. If you coming by car, please don't drive inside of city wall - I would recommend to park outside of the city wall - streets are very narrow.
Review 49:Wi-Fi wasn't working but it was internet companies fault not the hotel's.
Review 50:Breakfast was all local pastries that were delicious and hard to resist. Special ham and salami from market
Review 51:Everything really was wonderful.
Review 52:Matteo is the proprieter's son. He speaks English very well and wasquite friendly. He helped us with everything we needed to get settled inthe Medeival section of town. From parking the car - which was a littlechallenging due to the narrow streets, through finding our way aroundtown. The property was immaculately clean and the beds very comfortable. The breakfast we were served was proscutto and other cured meats (madeby his extended family's business-excellent), pastry, bread andcoffee - both american and Italian. Thank you Matteo!
Review 53:The owner is a very friendly and enthusiastic local. The B&B is really clean and the breakfast, with 'salumi' from his own factory. The location is excellent for an exploration of the medieval town.
Review 54:A super and very friendly welcome from the owner The facilities were everything we could have wished for Excellent breakfasts, including hams and salamis from the family business
Review 55:No one there to great us so had to telephone and wait 30mins but there is a nice bar 5 mins away. Breakfast is pretty average but covers all the basics
Review 56:Nice place down a small street on southern side of old city. Easy to find if you use a map, not sure what other people's issues were?! We used iPhone map and it led us straight there- we were on bicycles though making things easier to nav the one way streets. Room was nicely furnished with view over the roof tops. Bathroom was modern and clean, nice big shower head. Not convinced by the age of the place though looking at the build. The city though is spectacularly old!
Review 57:Arrived in Viterbo and Matteo met us within 10 minutes. He was very friendly and spoke very good English. The rooms are clean with a full bath. The b&b was a little hard to find but we asked a local man and he was very kind in showing us the way. You can unload your car in front but because of the narrow streets you can't park on the street near the b&b but Matteo was very helpful in showing us where to park. The old town is a very special place and this b&b is conveniently located. You will not need your car once there. Breakfast was very nicely set up and served. Matteo was extremely nice and helpful. We enjoyed our stay at the Midieval House and would highly recommend it.
Review 58:It was VERY difficult to find, and then once we found it, no one was there to greet us. Someone should be there on days when there are arrivals. Also got parking ticket, which was a huge hassle to pay for at the airport. Parking needs to be clearly marked and pointed out.
Review 59:Very nicely done and Matteo was wonderful. Facilities were very nice, and we can tell he is very proud and happy doing the b&b.
Review 60:Newer bedding would be our only comment.
Review 61:A beautifully rennovated medieval B&B....owner cheerful and attentive. We loved wandering the streets of Viterbo and lounging in the cafe's.
Review 62:The owners are a lovely family, who also are in the meat industry. We had delicious charcuterie and fresh bread every morning. Matteo is the son who manages the place. He is super friendly and works hard to make the plavpce nice.
Review 63:Friendly owner and good breakfast, very clean and tastefully decorated room
