Review 1：Room was very dusty and musty. Staff unfriendly, pool unheated, breakfast very poor to say the least. About 10 steps down into the hotel, no porter to help with luggage. Hotel full of bus loads of elderly English folk, a bit like Fawlty Towers really. They wanted $100 Euro a night to change to a room with a balcony!

Review 7：It is a lovely hotel situated right on Lake Como. It is super close to the ferry dock and also bus pick up. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The buffet breakfast was great and the restaurant has a lovely view of the lake.

Review 8：Menaggio is very limited when it comes to entertainment. There are only a handful of restaurants and shops and there is nothing going on in the hotel itself.

Review 12：Our first superior lake view room had a jacuzzi. The staff kept trying to tell me it was working fine, when it was obvious the bath was broken. Finally an external trade was called to confirm the jacuzzi was broken. Only when I asked for a reduced tariff given the room was now essentially a deluxe room were we offered a new room. Once we were moved to a better room, our experience was as you want and expect on a well earned much awaited holiday. The breakfast is a sad affair of ham, cheese, salami and bread. The scrambled eggs are disgusting, as are the bacon & sausages. The preserved fruit is very good, but it doesn't vary from day to day. The pool is a decent size, but the hotel refuses to heat it at all, so it's freezing in the morning. There is no kettle in the room for tea & coffee. The big kettles in the breakfast room are so poorly designed that large dishes of spilled water are left sitting unattended by very slow to respond staff. The people at reception are barely civil.

Review 13：Location is literally next to the ferry, with perfect views of the lake (if you get a lake view room). The housekeeping staff are friendly and accommodating.

Review 14：When we arrived the lady in reception was very rude and didn't even say wellcome or anything like that, I think is normal when clients are coming. It was clear that dogs are not wellcome at all! This is not really DOG FRIENLY hotel. Anyway we have been there twice; first and the last time:(

Review 16：The first night we went into the larger restaurant where one or more coach parties were dining. The atmosphere was very busy as the staff were rushing round trying to serve everyone. The food was very average. The weather was very hot whilst we were there and as our bed was on a mezzanine floor in the roof we were very uncomfortable until we found out how to fully utilise the air conditioning. It would have been helpful if someone had shown us to the room and explained how everything worked.

Review 17：The Terrace restaurant served great food which wasn't significantly more expensive than the set menu in the big restaurant. The hotel is next to the ferry terminal but you have to plan ahead well as it is difficult to cross the lake after late afternoon. The Gala dinner and the fireworks were fantastic.

Review 22：Staff showed no enthusiasm and answered any questions with one syllable if possible. We had problems coming back to the hotel and arrived after 9 pm absolutely starving to be told that they can't serve any food , not a simple sandwich, salad, microwave a soup , nothing and did not even appear apologetic or be sorry.The sink did not drain and the Wifi was very patchy and did not work in outside areas so we struggled to check in for our flights and could not reply to some emails .

There were a couple of other reviews that say the ferry disturbed their stay but we really didn't notice it so don't let that put you off. The decor is v traditional but it's been very well maintained so still felt luxurious.

Review 41：The location was good. Next to the Ferries. Although there was nightclub not too far away that was noisy into the early hours. The view from our room was nice. We could park outside. It was very clean.

Review 42：The bar in the ferry car park is noisy at night and locals beeping horns and shouting, ok if you keep doors shut. Breakfast was average, fruit juices were watered down! You can order boiled or fried eggs and cappuccino from the staff but there is no sign to tell you this.

Review 43：The hotel is right on the lakeside with amazing view from terrace, pool, bars, restuarant and rooms with lake view. Few mins walk to main square with restuarants etc. bus stop is outside for local bus to other lakeside towns. Toytrain stops at the door as well. Ferry stop is right next door, great watching all the biats coming and going.

If you are travelling with kids, or have problems sleeping, request rooms far away as possible from the right side. Also, the Restaurant in the hotel was a real disappointment. Breakfast was OK, but we had dinner one time and we don't understand how it got a Michelin star! Food was very basic, not even a chef could prepare it, we were very disappointed and didn't come back for any meal.

Review 75：Great hotel right on the lake with fabulous views from the pool area and rooms on the lake side. Definitely worth paying extra for a superior room with lake view, we had room 126 which was large and quiet. Staff were brilliant and Menaggio is a great location, I don't think we could have chosen better. We took our 5 month old daughter and both the hotel and town were ideal with the other towns only a short ferry trip from right outside the hotel. Some have said it's dated but I would say traditional is a better description and exactly what you'd expect for a grand old hotel on the lake. We loved it and will definitely be back!

Review 76：The food served in the dining room was poor quality and oddly out of place for Italy. The selection was as though the restaurant was in the UK - but not fresh or flavourful. It was a shame the coffee was low in flavour, the pastries were stale and stodgy, the food in general not flavourful, in a country kown for it's food. Equally distressing was the high cost of such poor quality food. Hot water is only available early in the morning. My room had only a tub, so a cold tub bath was especially unappealing.

Review 77：The Mennagio waterfront location and setting are beautiful, very convenient to access the ferry and bus, and an easy and pleasant walk to the town centre. The dining room and terrace are comfortable and spacious. The staff were always pleasant and made an effort to help when needed. I was surprised the hotel patrons are mostly from the UK... with package tours. They are charming. However, you would not know that you atr in Italy.

Review 78：This hotel is very dated and needs a lot of modernisation; as an example the toilet role holder in my bathroom was held to the wall with sticky pads and kept falling off. The WiFi is terrible and only works in some parts of the hotel. The pool was supposed to be heated, but was not and hence freezing cold. You would be better off staying at a B&B
