Reviews for B&B Elvira Al Duomo
Review 1:The GPS directions were incorrect and led us on a bit of a wild goose chase. Three of the four rooms had showers; the fourth and largest has a tub. Be sure to specify your preference when booking.
Review 2:Elvira's very personal approach to her guests' comfort, including calling the owner of the Monreale restaurant where we were dining, to request that he drive us back in the rain. This B&B was the best that we stayed in this trip to Italy
Review 3:No dislikes
Review 4:Elvira, Giovanni and their daughter were marvellous hosts going out of their way to help with all that a tourist needs including lifts to the local restaurant when we arrived home exhausted, advice on local restaurants and touring information. We would return if we could!
Review 5:Convenient to the principal attraction of Monreale, the cathedral. This is a lovely, peaceful villa with beautiful gardens and a large secure parking area. We parked the car there when we arrived and it remained there until we left 2.5 days later. Elvira, her husband, and daughter are charming people. They were able to advise us of the attractions of the area and directly as a result of this we had 2 of the best meals of our holiday in restaurants recommended by them (Osteria Peper and Bricco & Bacco). We particularly appreciated being driven by them to the centre of Monreale to see the attractions and then we had a relatively short downhill walk back to their villa. In addition we took their practical advice to take the bus to Palermo rather than attempt to drive in its notorious traffic. The bus stop was quite near their villa. Unfortunately the bus didn't stop - the driver saw us and shook his head, perhaps the bus was full. When we returned to the villa to drive to Palermo Elvira insisted on driving us in her car into Palermo centre and we got a bus back. Above and beyond the call of duty. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay her and appreciated this family's hospitality and generosity. This is an ideal location to enjoy the attractions of both Monreale and Palermo.
Review 6:Private in house parking of vehicle was great and the host family were very helpful with any requests. A beautiful home where wonderful breakfasts were served.
Review 7:Mrs Elvira and her family are warm and kind. The room is big and lovely. It has a balcony where we enjoyed our tea. The location is excellent, a short walk to the cathedral and to the bus stop to Palermo.
Review 8:Minor point - the yard was mostly lovely but not sure why they had so many odd items in full view that were not pleasing - such as an old computer, some tools, etc. Otherwise the courtyard was a lovely place to sit if you could avoid the assorted items that were definitely out of place there.
Review 9:Elvira is a charming host and even though speaks limited English we communicated with lots of laughs. It was hard to find even with our GPS but once inside the beautiful courtyard it is so worth it. Accomodations were great - very large clean room, large if long bathroom - spotless! Breakfast was in a large beautifully decorated room and we got to meet and chat with other guests. It was our anniversary and Elvira was kind enough to put a small bottle of prosecco in our room with some cookies, almonds, pistachios and an adorable hand made card. These lovely touches made for a lovely stay. Their daughter speaks excellent English and was helpful trying to give us advice to get to our next stop (Enna) in spite of the recent bridge collapse.
Review 10:Maybe bathroom is a little narrow but ok.
Review 11:Wonderful! All - location, clean, parking inside. Absolutely the best choose for trip by car. 5-10 minutes walking to center. Home-museum!
Review 12:The B&B Elvira al Duomo is situated in very quiet surroundings with a very kind and familiar atmosphere. The service was excellent. The rooms were nicely furnished to make you feel at home.
Review 13:Nothing
Review 14:Wonderful oasis on the outskirts of Palermo. The family were so welcoming and helpful. Breakfast with homemade cakes. Just a short walk up the hill to Monreal.
Review 15:It was a little difficult to find the right road out of Palermo, but we eventually got there each time.
Review 16:We liked the welcoming owners who went out of their way to accommodate our dietary requests. We came back for a final night before leaving Sicily and they remembered that we had asked for two extra pillows and we found them sitting on the bed of our room. We liked that there was on-site parking (would not have stayed there if there wasn't). We loved that there was a private terrace (though we didn't spend much time there), a place to sit and relax at the end of a long day of sightseeing.
Review 17:Very friendly welcome from a caring family, an oasis in a busy suburb of Palermo. Just a short walk uphill to the centre of Monreal to visit the cathedral. Good breakfast.
Review 18:Friendly, helpful hosts, comfortable rooms, good breakfast. Very convenient location to visit the Monreale Cathedral (at walking distance) and Palermo.
Review 19:We found the owners very helpful and friendly, and we enjoyed the unusual collection of objects in the hotel.

Review 25:near centre . private parking.
Review 26:In June the Mosquitos can be a pain do take personal spray with you if walking out at night a torch to find your way back from town would help. Nothing wrong with the property.
Review 27:The friendly owners. The smashing breakfast, the care taken to detail. Wifi available in the bedrooms. Helpful kind family.
Review 28:nothing
Review 29:very friendly and helpfull family. Linen hand embroidered, perfectly clean room and bathroom. Very good breakfast, salty and sweet with homemade cake. 50m from the bus to Palermo, no hassle for driving into Palermo, so good base for visiting Monreale and Palermo.
Review 30:Friendly hostess Elvira. Beds comfortable. Wifi worked perfectly. Easy to park in the courtyard. The garden and courtyard where like a small oasis. Only a few hundred meeters to the central parts of Montreale with the Cathedral. Breakfast over expectations for a B&B.
Review 31:our neighbours who woke up early were little bit noisy... :-)
Review 32:very lovely house, typical italian style, familiar atmosfere and facilities, rich breakfest, safety parking at the court, housekeepers recommended us good restaurant, near to city center
Review 33:The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Elvira's husband told us about Monreale. We enjoyed being able to walk up to have a drink and then eat and to visit the glorious cathedral. Loved the sweet grey cat who greeted us too. Breakfast was more than adequate and Elvira didn't mind our early start of 7.30 on a Sunday morning. We especially liked the cannoli. Staying at B&B Elvira was a fitting end to our wonderful 10-day trip of Sicily and we are sorry we did not have time to stay longer and use it as a base to explore Palermo.
Review 34:- the staff very accomodating, friendly, and welcoming. They got up early to make us a breakfast to take with us to the airport as we had an early flight home. - close to the airport without having to stay in the city of Palermo - traditional, family feel.
Review 35:Lovely house in an elegant garden and terrace - very helpful hosts (elvira's husband volunteered to drive us up the town centre) - unforgettable visit to the duomo and cloister.
Review 36:A bit tiring after a day's sight-seeing to have to walk down the hill to the b&b and then back up again in the evening for a meal! Good exercise though...
Review 37:Perfect place to stay for a visit to the wonderful duomo in Monreale. Ten minutes (steep uphill) walk to Monreale where there are also good restaurants. Palermo is only about 3 miles away but the bus connections are not as simple as you might think. It involved three buses down to the port area and took about 45 minutes (buses not very frequent). I decided to take the hire car the following day and there was no problem either in driving or parking - just take great care! Elvira and her husband run a wonderful b&b - strongly recommended!
Review 38:Dogs bark around the clock, 300 yards from a sewage treatment plant.
Review 39:The family were wonderfully warm and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 40:Everything! We were offered cold juice/coffee @ reception and upon leaving by Elvira. Beautiful home and decorated with a loving touch. Secured parking @ residence. Great location to catch bus into Palermo. Breakfast was exceptional. I could go on. Highly recommend this home.
Review 41:Very friendly people with a comfortable room and good breakfast: we needed to leave early, not a problem - we had breakfast at seven. Secure car parking and very convenient for the airport and the cathedral of Monreale.
Review 42:Extremely clean, good breakfast
Review 43:The location and amenities are very good, especially the enclosedparking and nearness to centro Monreale.
Review 44:Friendly, very helpful family, nice room with a private balcony and a friendly cat named Connie!
Review 45:Excellent owner who volunteered to take us,free of charge,up hill to the cathedral whenever we wished.
