Reviews for Rocca Di Monreale
Review 1:The staff was absolutely amazing!!! We arrived late and they were very accommodating and friendly. The price is unbeatable for the comfort, views, hospitality, and on-site parking of this place. I would definitely recommend Rocca di Monreale for anyone who is staying in the Palermo/Monreale area. Although it can be a little tough to find initially, the stay is well worth it and the gated parking gives you peace of mind. Finally, I have to give a big thank you to the staff, since I lost my wallet in the hotel, I called and they worked tirelessly to find it and return it with all of its contents. Will definitely be returning on the next trip to Monreale. A price that can't be beat for a friendly "at home" type stay.
Review 2:The breakfast was not as rich as it seemed to be on the photos. It was hard to find the bus station to Palermo. The buses go only very rarely.
Review 3:Nice view on mountains. The staff was very helpful.
Review 4:Horrible bed/mattress/springs. Barking dogs most of the night. Very tight to get to. Could hear everything going on in the building. I mean...everything.
Review 5:View from the balcony overlooking Monreale and Palermo. Emmanuela and her family. Breakfast.
Review 6:It is very hard to get from the highway to Monreale. Palermo does not do anything as far as signs to help you find Monreale even though the church is a major destination in Sicily. The B & B does put up adequate signs once you find the right road. The hard part is finding the right street to Monreale. I did not like the area of the B & B. It is nicely gated and secured, however, I found the area scarey at night when we walked back from dinner. There are numerous dogs fiercely barking. I just kept my fingers crossed that they were behind locked gates. They did not have an outside lounge area or pool. The towels were small and stiff. There really isn't a place to put your suitcase. This is the usual case in most places in Sicily. They have not discovered luggage racks.
Review 7:The family is very warm and willing to help in every way. There is a kitchen you can use. They also have complimentary bottles of water in the refrigerator. The daughter drove us up the hill to Monreale in the evening to be closer to a restaurant. We walked home. The daughter gets up at 6 AM and makes a fresh cake each morning for breakfast. There is also tomatoes, figs, eggplant etc. from the family garden.
Review 8:A nice place, stuff very kind, nice and helpful, very good breakfast. It is possible to go to Palermo by bus from Monreale, very convenient. Driving in Palermo is very "strange".
Review 9:Friendly staff, took us by car to Monreale.
Review 10:It was a tough walk up to Monreale but I still preferred out location to being based in the town
Review 11:Could not have been more friendly. They gave us two lifts up to Monreale and offered one to Palermo we were not able to take up. We had an excellent view of Palermo and the hills from the balcony. The hotel was quiet and off the main road with good parking.
Review 12:The drive around Palermo during Friday evening rush hour to get out to Monreale.
Review 13:Fabulous views from the room terrace over Palermo towards the Aeolian Islands. The tea pot for breakfast! Friendliness of the family.
Review 14:Although the hotel was in a good location, only a 20 minute walk up to Monreale, at night it didn't feel like the safest walk. Lots of houses with heavy gates and guarded by dogs.
Review 15:Nice family run Buisiness, the lady running the shop was very friendly and pleasant. Breakfast was great especially the fruit from the garden. Good value for money with good parking facilities.
Review 16:Condition of the road to the hotel is not so good, contact hotel forproper directions
Review 17:Friendly owner, very helpful, homely environment, fresh breakfasteveryday
Review 18:Beside nice, clean rooms, great location, delicious breakfast with homeproducts are the owners who make your stay unforgettable. Highlyrecommended and we definitely come back!
Review 19:Initially a little hard to find off main road as it does set back a bit,but they are rerouting their driveway and doing new landscaping so itwill be more easily accessible.
Review 20:The manager and her family were wonderful..They did so much for us,driving us to the old city, directions to Palermo, help with finding abankomat, and not to mention great breakfasts. The room was spacious andclean. The B&B is just a short drive to Palermo and very close toOld Monreale up on the hill. Also loved the two ponies, Vito and Vita.
Review 21:Staff were great. We were travelling with our dogs and we were provided with a room with a separate door directly to the car park which was very useful for us. The staff gave us a few recommendations for where to eat, and even offered to get us a ride to one of the better restaurants. Breakfast was arranged early for us (we had to leave by 7:30am) and was quite good! Our only regret is not being able to stay for a few more days.
Review 22:Cold coffee. Not keen on the restaurant where we had the evening meal.
Review 23:Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable room. Arranged shuttle to restaurant for evening meal.
Review 24:Wholegrain bread would have nice. There was some noise at night that sounded like a motorbike so I didn`t get much sleep. The owner`s English is just sad.
Review 25:Breakfast was excellent, big plus on the fruit salad. The bathroom was nice and clean.
Review 26:Without any problem
Review 27:Very friendly staff. The young lady even offered to drive us(me and my wife) free of charge with her own car up to the centre of Monreale which is about 15 minutes walk uphill from the hotel. Breakfast was typical "sicilian" - sweet, everything taste well !! Lenka + Pavel Kočvara, Czech Republic
Review 28:Try not to arrive in the dark! If you do, turn NE off the main SS186 (running N-S), at 38.0815N 13.2995E, then right 50m, and right 50m again, then press doorbell on gate at 30m on left.
Review 29:Ask for room with gorgeous view over Palermo: there's only one, but you might get lucky! Give yourself an extra day here, it's like staying in a palazzo. Hosts couldn't have been more helpful, including giving us lifts and even supplying bus tickets. Great base for Palermo too.
Review 30:AST is the closest bus stop, but AST does not run on weekends. Staff will recommend AST, but there is an alternative. Although you can pay the fare on an AST bus, fares for the alternative cannot be paid on the bus. Tickets are acquired at Tabacchi shops. Breakfast is more minimal, compared to other Sicilian B&Bs.
Review 31:The facilities are excellent. Staff are keenly interested in assisting guests. Excellent secure parking. Quiet location. Easily accessed. Comfortable. A great location for persons prepared to drive in Palermo. After a brief drive in Palermo, I parked my car to rely on public transit. B&B recommended a good nearby restaurant and arranged for a shuttle.
Review 32:A bit difficult to find even with GPS.
Review 33:Perfect, with free parking. Charming and efficient staff, very helpful
Review 34:Very basic B&B facilities
Review 35:Friendly Emma who could not do enough for us. Wonderful views and a charming eccentric half kitch half bizarre decor
Review 36:Friendly and very helpful staff. Ideal location on the edge of Monreale for visiting cathedral.
Review 37:friendly staff, everything was OK.
Review 38:All good!!!
Review 39:Very friendly people, good breakfast.
Review 40:nothing
Review 41:Reception was very friendly. Good room and good breakfast!
Review 42:Lumpy pillows.
Review 43:Useful base for both Palermo and Monreale.
Review 44:Access bad because of the road and not easy to find.
Review 45:Very family oriented accomodation with old style but restored furniture.
Review 46:Nothing
Review 47:The family who run the Rocca di Monreale were very friendly and most helpful.
Review 48:We found the location very obscure particularly as we arrived in the dark.
